It's very sad indeed. Without uploading more photos I also think of great wrestling bodies when I think of Kerry and Kevin Von Erich, Sid Vicious before he got more bloated, and Kevin Sullivan circa 1980-1981. He was legit shredded back then.
-
When I think of best wrestling bodies it doesn't necessarily mean to me the most jacked up. That would be a different category. Luger is a good choice when he was cut as was Steamboat in the late 70s for sure. Here's a few when I think of best wrestling bodies that come to mind though:

Legend in my neck of the woods. When my dad and a few friends ran their own East TN promotion in 89-90 they would bring in the Mongolian Stomper for bigger shows. He was a great guy and absolutely hated then adored by his fans here in East TN. RIP Stomper.

Maybe they said Road "Trash" Man and we will get the long awaited induction of Duke The Dumpster Droese.

BRAINBUSTER 8: THE FARCE AWAKENS

Parv needs to be a permanent guest. I had a 4 hour round trip drive for work yesterday and literally listened to this episode twice because I was laughing so hard I was crying at Parv. I legit thought he may stroke out at one point though. Fantastic episode! -
This week we dive into episodes 13 through 16 of SMW TV. The reason we have two added episodes is that episodes 14 and 16 are both basically recap shows. Some show highlights: - The emergence of Carl Stiles - Doug Furnas is a freak - Bob Armstrong may never change clothes - Don't talk about the Fulton's momma - Does Caudle have a "thing" for Danny Davis? - Justin pledges his undying love for Brian Lee - When is serial killing acceptable? - Forks in Dogs - call PETA - The "Baccer Magazine" issue We thank everyone for their support. There's some big news coming for our show soon. This is the go home shows before the Volunteer Slam. Next episode will be the Volunteer Slam recap show. https://soundcloud.com/ricky-whittenburg/fire-in-the-mountains-episodes-13-through-16-smw Weekly awards Match of the Week - Fantastics vs Heavenly Bodies (SMW Tag Title Match) - Episode 15 Soundbyte of the Week - Cornette blasting The Fantastics momma Fashion Statement of the Week - Robert Gibson's shirt Fans of the Week - The Deliverance Boys Interview of the Week - Carl Stiles Top 10 Matches Watched so far in SMW: Rip Rogers vs Tim Horner - Weekly show #7 Jimmy Golden/Wild Bunch vs Fantastics - Weekly show #8 Fantastics vs Heavenly Bodies (SMW Tag Title Match) - Weekly show #15 Paul Orndorff vs Rip Rogers - Weekly show #2 Fantastics vs The Maulers - Weekly show #14 The Maulers vs Johnny & Davey Rich - Weekly show #8 The Fantastics vs The Wild Bunch - Weekly show #9 Danny Davis vs Buddy Landell - Weekly show #15 Rip Rogers vs Joey Maggs - Weekly show #3 Paul Orndorff vs Hector Guerrero - Weekly show #11

EDIT: Trying to get NotL unblocked. I now have uploaded all of 1995 through the final show in November. On my channel I now have 6/12/1993 through 11/25/1995. Youtube actually makes it fairly easy to upload. Just a little time consuming but no real headaches.
-
I have uploaded SMW TV from 6/12/93 through 12/31/94. I will upload all of 1995 in the next month or two. I have also uploaded the following special events: 1993 - Bluegrass Brawl, Fire on the Mountain, Thanksgiving Thunder 1994 - Night of the Legends 1995 - Superbowl of Wrestling Trying to get as much SMW out as possible. HockeyMaskGuy on YouTube has all of the previous SMW episodes up to what I have uploaded.

I think McMahon wanted to make sure he didn't go "all in" with Flair. He didn't want Flair to go bell to bell and wanted to ensure that he could have someone one up Flair when he inevitably went back to WCW. I think it would have made more sense for Flair to come out at 4 as a little wink and a nod to the 4 Horseman. Of course the WWF isn't interested in anything not WWF centric so that wouldn't make sense to them.

Awesome. I have a 4 hour round trip drive for work tomorrow. I know what I'm listening to now. -
Whomever said something about Nitro being more important is probably right. I was listening to one of Sullivan's podcasts and he mentioned that the "brass" didn't even want him to book PPV feuds until two weeks before the PPV's for the most part. So he would just throw PPV's together because they weren't as worried about them as they were the Nitro's. Take that for what it's worth but in hindsight it looks like it makes sense. I do remember pretty well that there would be times where no PPV matches were announced at all until a couple of weeks in advance and thought that was rather strange.

How about Nikita Koloff coming into the WWF in late 1985 a roided up monster set to destroy Hulk Hogan and taking the WWF World Title back to Mother Russia? He could have slotted into the Bundy spot and made for a much more interesting encounter with Hogan at Wrestlemania II. If WCW would have taken Jericho more seriously with the Goldberg stuff I think they could have had a big PPV match instead of what we actually wound up with. Or why in the hell didn't we get a better tournament at Wrestlemania IV? Without going over the entire card and rebooking would it have been so hard for them to have booked Steamboat to beat Valentine? That way, even if it was only going to be a 7-10 minute match we could have saw Savage/Steamboat in a balls out battle. It would also have been great to see Tully Blanchard turn heel on Flair at some point and have those two work an angle. Maybe if Hurd wouldn't have screwed up Blanchard's return we could have got that down the line.

Yeah I remember that Hogan training his team video shortly before Fall Brawl. He had Vader moonsault a dummy or something. I just remember him saying OK VADER TIME BROTHER and Vader doing a moonsault. -
Fire in the Mountains (SMW TV 11 & 12)
DownNDirtyTN replied to DownNDirtyTN's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Just a quick note on the upcoming show this week. We will be uploading on Sunday evening. This should be Episodes 13 & 14 however episode 14 is basically a recap of the tag team tournament so far and one original match. So, we will recap that match and also do episode 15 which is an original full episode. Episode 16 is a preview of the Volunteer Slam and has no new original matches so we will skip that one. That means this upcoming episode will be the final episode before the Volunteer Slam review show as this week we cover Episodes 13-16. And you won't want to miss the upcoming show. Both of the upcoming full episodes that we review are great television ramping up to the Volunteer Slam.- 1 reply

Beau James told some really fascinating stories. I enjoy your podcasts quite a bit. Thankfully with my bank desk job I have several hours a week to listen to all of the great pods. Keep up the good work and please have Beau on again someday. He's about 30 minutes up the road from me. Good dude. -

The Jim Cornette Experience
DownNDirtyTN replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I didn't like Radley but I just mostly overlooked her. It was more of that impression that she gave me that she thought she was being cute/funny sometimes and it was anything but. Overall though I could just tune her out more often than not when listening to one of Cornette's shows. I love listening to Sullivan most of the time. But I absolutely agree about MSL. I know that not everyone can have the wrestling knowledge that some on here have but to listen to Sullivan giving MSL verbal blowjobs about what a brilliant mind he has makes me scratch my head. I know I've listened to several shows where he talks about a guy and said well I really never watched much of him and thought Jesus Christ dude. You couldn't have been a fan of wrestling. It's one thing maybe to not know the ins and outs of guys like Doug Somers, Jack Victory, or Al Perez but to not know nor have watched some of the legends that he continuously overlooks is mind numbing. -

I just wanted to provide a quick update. Going forward I will do a new post for each show so they can be discussed individually. I blew out my Behringer mixer the Friday before last when we were going to tape our current show covering episodes 11 and 12. I had some bad advice from a guy at Guitar World in Charlotte last weekend and bought a mixer that doesn't work as I need it to sooo I'll be heading to the closest one to me which is about 2 hours away sometime this week hopefully and get what I actually need and we "SHOULD" have this episode out sometime this coming weekend. As a Christmas gift to the fine folks here at PWO I have finished uploading the rest of 1994 SMW weekly TV's to my Youtube channel and also have uploaded the following big SMW shows: Bluegrass Brawl 1993 Night of the Legends 1993 Thanksgiving Thunder 1993 Night of the Legends 1994 Superbowl of Wrestling 1995 Thanks to those who follow the show. Hopefully we will bang out the next show this weekend and then pick up the week after Christmas again and be on a mostly weekly schedule over the winter months. -

Would it be more beneficial to create a new topic for every reviewed episode? That way when people do go back and watch these shows there won't be overlapping and you can find the show being discussed more easily? I don't want to flood the board with posts on the show itself so I can either keep it contained to one topic or can create a new fresh topic for each show that we do. We will have another show out next Friday night/Saturday as we all had family obligations over this holiday weekend. -

It's funny you mentioned the Youtube channel as I uploaded 30 episodes last night. I am publishing them all this morning. Soundcloud makes tracks undownloadable by default and I always forget to go back in and change that little permission box. That has been fixed! Thanks for the heads up! EDIT: I have now uploaded from 6/12/1993 to 7/2/1994 to my Youtube channel. I'll get the rest of 1994 up by the end of the year and then go to work on 1995. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYZGm8YGdQF6UkYlPCrgWeQ -

This week we discuss episodes 9 and 10 of SMW Weekly TV. As SMW builds towards the Volunteer Slam we examine all the matches, interviews, and angles. As always comments are definitely encouraged. We want to make the show as enjoyable as possible so please let us know what you would like to hear or maybe you don't like something and we need to work on it. Hopefully by the time we've made it through 200 episodes we'll have it down pat haha. https://soundcloud.com/ricky-whittenburg/fire-in-the-mountains-smw-wrestling-episodes-9-10 End of the Show Awards: Match of the Week - The Fantastics vs The Wild Bunch Soundbyte of the Week - Cornette's comments on corn fed women Fashion Statement - Well, maybe sign of the times statement more than anything but Tim Horner sings Shameless for 2 minutes straight Fan of the Week - Husband and Wife combo episode 10 (picture above) Interview of the Week - Ron Wright Episode 10 he's mad at people not sending him money TOP TEN MATCHES WATCHED SO FAR SMW History Rip Rogers vs Tim Horner - Weekly show #7 Jimmy Golden/Wild Bunch vs Fantastics - Weekly show #8 Paul Orndorff vs Rip Rogers - Weekly show #2 The Maulers vs Johnny & Davey Rich - Weekly show #8 The Fantastics vs The Wild Bunch - Weekly show #9 Rip Rogers vs Joey Maggs - Weekly show #3 Ivan/Golden vs Fantastics - Weekly show #4 The Koloffs vs the Fantastics - Weekly show #2 Jimmy Golden vs Robert Gibson - Weekly show #5 Hector Guerrero vs Keith Hart - Weekly show #8 -

Between the Sheets #12 (October 6-12, 1997)
DownNDirtyTN replied to KrisZ's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I really hated when Pillman passed away. I remember as a 17 year old watching him leading up to this thinking that he's legit crazy. Little did I know that he was actually bipolar. Had Pillman not had that car accident how different things could have been. His gimmick IMO was one of the best of all time and he was a great worker. Pair those two without the accident and man what a run he could have had. I remember watching the PPV that night with my dad. We watched all of the PPV's back then through a trick we accidentally discovered. We had ordered a WCW PPV in 1995 and as soon as the PPV was over I unhooked the box. It didn't get any other channels that the regular TV got and it was just a hassle using it. The next time I went to order a PPV and I plugged up the box the PPV channel was still on. Well I didn't order the PPV and right as it started my box got zapped and scrambled. So I done a little science experiment and ordered a $2 movie the next day. After it was over I unhooked the box again and plugged it up about 10 minutes after the next wrestling PPV started. Back then the local cable office had to have workers in for special boxing/wrestling PPV's and they would "zap" any illegal streams right as they went out the door when the PPV's were going to start. If you gave it a couple of minute window you could watch any PPV for free. That box worked until 1999 without a hitch. Anyway, I say that to say that I was really confused for a few minutes because they had already made the initial announcement before I plugged in. Then I remember a comment saying something about the Pillman tragedy and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It took a little bit to sink in. Of all the wrestling deaths that one bothered me more than any of the others for some reason. In today's day and age I agree with the assessment that if they found out something like this happened just prior to a WWE Network PPV they would cancel the show. Hopefully we never have to test that theory. Great show as always.
