  1. I will post mine tomorrow. My list will be more personal favorites then just the 100 greatest but there will be overlap. I will also represent 1 match per matchup so there will be one Flair/Steamboat, one Austin/Rock, etc. it's mostly for variety sake.
  2. This was a good brawl. Not much to it but I don't think I've seen many lucha matches where the brawling went backstage. At least there was a good amount of blood to this.
  3. This was a lot of fun. The very worst worker in this was at least good and the very best are bonafide legends. I loved the grumpy old rudos having to pull every trick on the young tecnicos. The brawling was good, the comedy and ref bs was kept to a minimum and the action was constant. I dug this quite a bit.
  4. I really enjoyed this. I actually haven't seen the Rage in the Cage so I can't compare it to this but I thought the sloppiness actually worked in the match's favor. You could tell right away that there was a burning hatred between the 2 teams. It felt like they weren't really concerned with percision really and more concerned about maiming each other. I love the use of the cage, chair and chain. I thought that this was also one of the best use of the escape rules in any cage matches. It actually added to the drama and sucked me in with how they used it. I really loved this spectacle.

  6. I thought this was a great match but not one that was transcendent of great. I need to watch more Al Snow from this period and I really enjoy Chris Benoit's performance in this. I never really paid much mind to Styles' commentary until I read the comments in this thread. While it is a stupid comment to make, I've heard much worse and forgot about it. As you guys said, it's great in a vacuum and that's all it is but still great for what it is.
  7. I really dug this match. I'm a fan of a lot of the ECW brawls of this time period and this is right up there. The bottle shots were really brutal and no matter how many times I watch this, it makes me cringe. Like others here, I could have done without the interference from 911 but it doesn't take away from the match overall. I do think this holds up really well 22 years later.
  8. I dug this match for what it was. I'm really liking Don Montoya the more I see him. I enjoying his stalling and heat seeking as contrasted by Quacks indy-riffic moveset. I do think it was hurt from how long it was. Overall a pretty decent match.
  9. I loved this. Some good comedy at the start and then what seems to be a sports entertainment version of a shoot style match. May not understand everything going on but it sure as hell entertained me!
  10. I thought this was really good. The opening promo was surprisingly long but I loved the MCW and Lawler call outs. The match was very gritty, stiff and the mat work was snug. I even bought the BS finish to keep the belt on the cowardly champion. The post match beat down was nuts!
  11. This match has really stuck with me over the years. While I do think the rest periods did take away from the flow, if only the Last Man Standing gimmick was around back then. I loved how this match really did feel like something you'd see on Halloween as they used the PPV set well with that image of Vader coming out of the fog filled grave. I thought some of the bumps Cactus Jack took were maddening.
  12. This was one of my absolute favorite matches when I was younger and still is to this day. I would even put this in my personal Top 100. As someone who was a fan of comics, cult and horror films before getting into wrestling, this was a perfect bridge. I loved that Undertaker really upped the tempo and Mankind was still a very psychotic character at this point. The dive Taker took was nuts. I really loved the final shot of the match. I'm gonna rewatch this very soon.
  13. I thought there was a thread about this but couldn't find it but I don't want to start another one. I realized that I've been getting more enjoyment out of collecting whole shows or comps than just individual matches. I love getting whole Georgia shows or Continental or random WAR or FMW shows and comps.
  14. Last night I watched Memphis wrestling from 10-8-1988. It was a great episode! The episode really centered around 2 storylines: the build towards the Tennessee-Texas Shoot Out 8 man tag match at the Mid South Colosseum and the Stud Stable trying to hijack the show. The main things to have watched for were the promos and the build to the next Monday show. The Tennessee and Texas storyline was centered around the Jerry Lawler-Kerry Von Erich feud in which both sides from CWA and USWA got involved in their previous AWA World Title match. We get an awesome promo from Lawler, Jeff Jarrett, Bill Dundee and Eddie Marlin about how not to mess with Tennessee! We get a video promo from WCCW promoter Frank Dusek. The Stud Stable was around for pretty much the entire show in one way or another. We got a funny video of Downtown Bruno being Bill Dundee's servant. Ron Fuller and Jimmy Golden wanted payback on Jeff Jarrett and Brickhouse Brown for beating them and stealing the Tennessee Stud's loaded boot at the last Mid South Colosseum show. They did end up interfering and beating up Jarrett and Brown in their match on the show. they also courted Sid Vicious who came out and squashed Tommy King. Overall this was quite the exciting show and the video also contained the original commercials which also added to the whole presentation. Highly recommended!
  15. I love a good spectacle and this was that. Not a good match per say but it was very watchable. Another iconic ECW moment with Terry towards the end asking for a chair and the entire crowd threw their chairs into the ring. I did like that they did tease the barbed wire spots at first but PE are not Onita and can't emote at all so the spots that did come didn't have much of an impact. At least the Funks brought some intensity. The visual of Terry totally wrapped up in barbed wire and still going nuts was incredible and only outdone in his barbed wire match against Sabu.
  16. I thought this match was really fun. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of when Sabu is "unleashed" he goes absolutely nuts throwing chairs everywhere. The match did have a good bit of out of control feel to it. I wish the crowd would've been patient instead of screaming for blood. The piledriver that Funk always uses looks weird but I guess that fits his wild man aura. The run ins and the blackout was ill fitted. I believe this is my first time watching this match as I've only seen the ending with Sabu destroying the table were in highlight videos.
  17. I really loved this episode! I love this show in general especially the SMW and Continental series but I also love the indie episodes too. I'm thinking of picking up King of the Deathmatch 2002 shows this week from SmartMark Video.
  18. These Toryumon matches have been some of my favorites since I started watching these 2000 matches. This one may be my favorite so far. This has a little bit of everything and the match never gets boring. Sumo Fuyuki is my favorite of the bunch and he continues being awesome in this just like CIMA.
  19. I remember seeing this PPV when it aired live. I remember being in awe of the sheer violence in a WWF match. I've seen ECW and FMW by this point so seeing fired and more barbed wire was a treat. I did like that they contained the match mostly in the cell and when they did eventually go outside, there was a feeling of anxiety as it looked like they might just kill each other. I miss this time period when the HIAC was something important like War Games.
  20. This was a hossier version of a David vs Goliath match IMO. I really liked how Kawada was unsure at first and then exploded in a barrage of offense on Vader as if he really had no choice. I also liked Vaders selling in how he struggled to keep Kawada from locking in the armbar but when he did, the scream Vader let out was very realistic and his scrambling for the ropes. This was a nice breezy match to watch and was quite refreshing.
  21. I've looked all over for any threads on this but haven't found anything. I've heard a ton about this promotion and how fun it was to watch the various matchups and feuds. I've been a bit confused on where to start watching as there really isn't much of a guide on the net that I've seen of the best matches/angles/wrestlers. If anyone can guide me in the right direction would be very appreciated!
  22. This was a good, fun brawl but I agree with Chad in that this was a bit too long. This was my first time watching JAPW but I've always heard about their shows. I'm glad to be watching Da Hit Squad again.
  23. For a match that's deceptively short, this has everything you want in a heated match: blood, mask ripping, good action and HATE! I'm loving CMLL right now!
  24. I remember seeing this match live on TV and what an awesome atmosphere the opening segment created and the main event topped it off. It's been so long since I heard a WWE crowd that molten hot. They were popping for everything that was happening. I absolutely love multi man matches and when you have an incredible crowd and when everything is clicking so well and the action for the most part is very smooth, it's going to be a personal favorite. This match will be one of my very favorite matches of 2000.
  25. Really dug this episode! Hoping the next episode will be out soon!
