AWA releases Chicky Starr, Pez Whatley, Snowman, King Kahlua and Tiger Conway Jr. AWA picks up Ricky Santana, Dave Sullivan, Maxx Payne and Ted Arcidi (as a manager)

AWA @ The Arena Coliseo, Mexico City 9-1-90 The Magnificent Muraco vs. King Kahlua Muraco makes his first appearance since WrestleRock and jumps right into things by taking on Kahlua. Kahlua gets Muraco in series trouble a few times but Muraco eventually gets his groove back and defeats Kahlua with the inverted piledriver! Welcome back Muraco. The Guerreros vs. The Tribal Nation The former Renegade Warriors come out with a fresh look (new face paint and new blue colored ring gear) and a new name (Tribal Nation) The Guerreros attack at the bell and we get an early pier six brawl. Things settle down and the fans get a roller coaster thrill ride. This is tag team wrestling at its best. Both teams display incredible teamwork and chemistry. Ten minutes isn't enough time as the bell rings, signaling a draw. The Guerreros leave disappointed. The Tribal Nation wave to the fans before they exit. The Guerreros come back in the ring and attack the Nation from behind. The fans get a 5 minute bonus brawl before security runs out. King Kong Bundy vs. The Snowman Both men start slugging away on each other. Bundy gets the upper hand and slams Snowman down. Bundy swings off the ropes and goes for an elbow drop but Snowman moves. Snowman fires up. Bundy staggers up as Snowman swings off the ropes and hits a shoulder block. Bundy wobbles but stays up. Snowman swings off the ropes and puts Bundy down with a flying shoulder block. Snowman puts his muscles to work and pounds away on Bundy with some brutal forearm blasts. Snowman swings Bundy to the ropes and clotheslines Bundy. Bundy staggers back against the ropes. Snowman charges but Bundy back drops him over the top rope. Bundy goes to the outside and hurls Snowman into the ring. This time Bundy hits the big elbow drop. Bundy swings Snowman into the corner and follows with a corner splash. Bundy grabs Snowman and side walk slams him. Bundy swings off the ropes and hits the BIG splash. Bundy gets up, swings off the ropes and hits another BIG splash 1..2..3! Cactus Jack vs. Jimmy 'The Stud' Golden These two have been going at it for the past month and it looks like they'll be going at it again because this match ends in a double DQ when the Ref tries to break them up and they both punch him down. AWA International Title Bout Stan Hansen (C) vs. Col Debeers Hansen starts off strong and is relentless as he gives Debeers a beating in the early minutes. Debeers somehow survives it and takes control with a thumb to the eye followed by a low kick and gut wrench suplex. Debeers gets in some good moments and scores a couple near falls but Hansen gets pissed and fights back. Hansen swings Debeers into the corner and follows with a running knee to the mid section. Hansen suplexes Debeers over. Hansen picks up Debeers and executes a neckbreaker. Hansen swings Debeers to the ropes and nails him with the lariat 1..2..3! Hansen holds up his title and gives the Texas Bullhorn sign before leaving. Debeers finally comes to his senses and staggers up. The fans cheer as CARLOS COLON hits the ring with a club. Debeers turns around as Colon whacks him with the club! Colon holds up his club and is satisfied with his payback. Carlos Colon is back! AWA World Tag Team Title Bout The Enforcers (C) vs. The Swords of Light The Swords proved they deserved this shot because they simple out wrestle the Enforcers in the opening moments. Of course Konnan gets some big pops as he dazzles his hometown fans with some classic Lucha moves. Gama goes scientific and really flusters both Arn and Zbyszko. The Enforcers come back with a vengeance and work Gama over. They break the rules and get brutal. They almost put Gama away with a double front face suplex but Konnan saves the day. Gama eventually makes the hot tag and the fans go wild as Konnan cleans house. Konnan hits Zbyszko with a flying press but Arn breaks it. After more back and forth action, Gama and Arn are going at it. Gama hits a sunset flip but Zbyszko runs in and clotheslines Gama. Konnan runs in and hammers away on Zbyszko. The Ref guides Konnan back. Gama has Arn up for a suplex but Zbyszko clips Gama at the knees. Zbyszko runs over and hits Konnan. Konnan and Zbyszko brawl as the Ref tries to control them. Gama limps up. Arn grabs him and hits the DDT! The Ref runs over and counts 1..2..3! Enforcers retain! AWA WORLD TITLE BOUT 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair (C) w/ Tully Blanchard vs. El Canek Big match feel as the introductions are made. Canek gets an unbelievable pop. The bell rings and Flair tries to play some mind games with Canek by doing his strut and yelling out a WOOO. The opening segment is filled with chain wrestling and holds. Flair clamps on a headlock but Canek swings him to the ropes and shoulder blocks him down. Tully tells Flair to stay calm. Canek starts to get the momentum and dropkicks Flair down. Flair gets pissed and charges but Canek back drops him. Flair staggers up as Canek hits a vertical suplex 1..2..Kick Out. Canek keeps this up for a few more minutes until Flair ducks a flying press. Flair take control and delivers a delayed vertical suplex. Flair follows with a delayed knee drop 1..2..Kick Out. Flair snapmares Canek over and delivers a knee to the back. Flair follows with a backbreaker 1..2..Kick Out. Flair hits a shin breaker and starts to work on Canek's leg. Flair holds Canek's leg and kicks away, then applies the figure four. Tully grabs Flair's hands for extra leverage but the Ref catches him and threatens him with a DQ. At the 30 minute mark, Flair swings Canek into the corner but Canek reverses it and swings Flair into the corner. Flair flips up and over the turnbuckles. Flair runs across the apron but Canek clotheslines him down. Canek baseball slides Flair off the apron. Tully runs over and helps Flair up. Canek swings off the ropes and suicide dives onto both Flair and Tully. Canek hurls Flair back into the ring. Canek gets on the top rope. Flair staggers up as Canek hits an amazing flying press 1..2..NO! Tully put Flair's foot on the rope. The Ref looks at Tully but Tully waves his arms up and shakes his head. Canek gets up and goes over towards Tully. Tully distracts Canek. Flair staggers up and rolls Canek over 1..2..Kick Out. Both men rise. Canek starts punching as Flair starts chopping. It's an intense exchange. Tully gets on the apron. The Ref warns him. Flair drops and gives Canek a lowblow. Flair covers 1..2..(Canek gets his foot on the rope but Tully runs over and pushes it off) 3!! Tully gets Flair out of there quick because the fans go into riot mode. After a minute, Canek grabs a Mexican Flag and holds it up. He gets on the mic and tells the fans not to worry because he'll be back. The fans cheer as Canek waves the flag. Winner of the match and still AWA world champ- Ric Flair

AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 8-29-90 Ken Resnick: Hello everyone and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. I'll be covering for Larry Nelson because he's in Mexico preparing for the AWA's big event there. Tonight, you'll see Iceman Parsons take on Tom Brandi. Texas Red battles Shaska Whatley. All that and a lot more, so let's get to the action. The Power Twins vs. Ray Glader and Jason Moore The twins overwhelm their opponents with their tremendous strength and power. The finish sees Larry hold Glader in a backbreaker position as Dave comes off the top rope with a knee to the mid section. Power Twins cut a promo and say they're going to mow over all the tag teams on the way to winning some gold. Commercial Break Footage from last week is shown when Buzz Sawyer goes nuts after being pinned by Tony St. Clair. Sawyer even powerslams the referee. Resnick: Fans, for his deplorable actions, Buzz Sawyer has been suspended indefinitely from the AWA. Switching gears, as you all know, the AWA is on a bit of a global tour. We're in Mexico this weekend and on September 27th we'll be returning to the UK's Royal Albert Hall. Tony St. Clair will wrestle for the world title in the main event. Ok, back to the ring. Leo Burke vs. Arnie Goldstein Burke looks good and wins the match with a sleeper. Resnick: Leo Burke, come on over. In Winnipeg, you gave the world champ a run for his money. What's next? Burke: Everybody knows that I've always rebounded after a defeat and... Boos as JW Storm strolls out wearing his leather jacket and sunglasses Storm: You know, I'm so sick and tired of watching these washed up old timers getting all the TV time. The fans want some excitement. They want to see the future and that's me. (looks at Burke) So, why don't you take a hike goof before things get physical. Storm gives Burke a couple of light slaps. Burke grabs Storm's arm, twirls him around and clamps on the sleeper! Burke wrenches away as a swarm of officials come out to break it up. Commercial Break Iceman Parsons vs. 'Thrilling' Tom Brandi Fun fast paced match that goes back and forth. Parsons takes control and heels it up by breaking the rules with an aggressive style. Brandi gets things going his way and pinballs Parsons around the ring with dropkicks, back drops and hip tosses. Boos as Tommy Jammer and the Vin Man come out. Vin walks around the ring and starts distracting the Ref. While that's going on, Brandi swings off the ropes and Jammer reaches in and trips him. Brandi staggers up and runs towards Jammer. Parsons comes from behind with a high knee to Brandi's back, then rolls him up with a handful of tights as the Ref runs over and counts 1..2..3! Jammer and Vin crack up laughing as they head to the back. Parsons dances and celebrates. Commercial Break Resnick: With me now is Mike Graham. Mike, I understand you asked for this time. Graham: Damn right I did. First thing I want to do is invite Brad Rheingans out here. Brad comes out wearing his Olympic theme sweatsuit. Graham: You see this Resnick. This man presents himself as a legitimate wrestler. Brad, you and I have something big in common. We're both professionals. We were both born to wrestle. I woke up one night with a brilliant idea. Brad, how would you like to team up? Think about. Do you really think any team in the AWA can compete with us? No way! They don't have the talent or skill to even keep up. You see what I'm saying? What do you say Brad? Brad looks around and back at Graham. Brad: Mike, I couldn't agree more. You're the only guy I respect around here. As a former tag team champion, I'm an expert on tag team wresting. You and I together equals championship gold. I'm all in! Brad extends his hand. Graham shakes it. Graham: Resnick, you and all these morons can call us the Professionals! Commercial Break Mr. Saito vs. Neil Jordan Saito is methodical and wins the match with his Saito suplex. Commercial Break AWA National Tag Team Champs Latin Desire vs. William Hillman and Carl Kellerman Latin Desire are in sync tonight. Al executes the Helicopter drop then tags in Lou, who finishes things off with a beautiful back suplex. The fans cheer as Latin Desire hold up their belts. WHAM! From behind, the Destruction Crew nail both Perez's with sledge hammers! Destruction Crew put the boots to Latin Desire, then pick up the National titles and hold them up as they put their boots on Latin Desire's chests. Commercial Break Resnick: Fans, listen to this bombshell of an announcement. In 2 weeks, the one and only immortal Hulk Hogan will appear right here, in this ring. I sure can't wait for that! 'The British Bomber' Johnny Smith w/Les Thornton vs. Warren Coolidge Smith works his opponent over pretty good and wins the match with a superplex! Thornton cuts a promo and says Smith will make his triumphant return home to the Royal Albert Hall. Commercial Break Footage from last week is shown. The Jive Tones make an open challenge which is answered by Dick Slater and Ron Garvin. Resnick: It looks like the team of Ron Garvin and Dick Slater are already making waves in the AWA... Tiger Conway and Shaska Whatley storm out. Conway: Oh very funny Resnick! Very funny! Skip Young suffered an injury during that vicious attack by those animals! I'll say this, my man Shaska Whatley is going to take out all his anger on Texas Red! Right now! Whatley: Red! I'm gonna whip you and rip that mask off your ugly face! Let's so this! Texas Red vs. Shaska Whatley w/Tiger Conway Jr. Red enters the ring and the Ref signals for the bell. Whatley charges but Red puts him down with a big boot to the face. Red hoists Whatley up and snake eyes him on the top turnbuckle. Conway gets on the apron. Red snatches him by his shirt and lifts him off his feet. Whatley shakes the cobwebs and hits Red from behind. Whatley swings Red to the ropes and hits the flying willie 1..2..Kick Out. Whatley is pissed. He reaches down but Red grabs him by his throat. Red rises and choke slams Whatley down. Red picks up Whatley and nails him with the heart punch! 1..2..3! Moments later, Whatley is stretchered out as Conway walks with him. Red slowly walks to the camera. Red: Nell! Hangman! Let's finish this!

Firestorm! Let's do this! Thrillseekers set the show's tone with an exciting win over a well established heel team. Adams gets a big win over Windham. Man, Adams has really rebounded this year The Money Train is representing the younger generation well Great booking with the Slaughter Tenryu feud. These two were meant to go at it Hamrick wins another battle between the youngsters Kid getting one in the win column is definitely a confidence booster Hart and PCO finally put an end to their Playboy Club feud. Will Hart go after some gold now? With that big win, Iron & Steel are primed for a title shot Wow, I thought for sure Douglas was going to take the CA title. I should have never counted Condrey out. Condrey still has my vote for comeback wrestler of the year. OH YEA! FOJ win the GS titles! I've been rooting for them for so long. They earned this Barr retains in a thriller over 2 Cold. Great way to cap off night 1 Night 2 Watch out! The Midnights have some serious momentum going again Damn, devastating finish by Kawada to seal the deal on Hashimoto SOB's are for real and have become legit contenders It feels like the Italian Stallion is ready to break out I'm all for a Liger/Barr match. I think it's coming After one heck of a feud, Regal finally slays the monster. That finish really solidified things Sabu's rising the ranks In another wild and crazy feud, Piper finishes things off with Lee. Even going down to the Hot Rod, this feud has elevated Lee I thought the Bigelow/Awesome feud was, well, awesome. Great finishing sequence by Bigelow. Severn and Blackman put up a tremendous fight but the MVC finishes strong. Great match up here No spinebuster slam tonight but I thought Busick beating Malenko with a submission move was the more creative way to go. Busick has quite the arsenal After 2 nights of insane action, Martel and Dibiase tear the house down. Man, Martel was on fire and had it, but that sneaky and crafty Dibiase once again walks out with the title and probably even more heat. Outstanding job!

UWF in Brazil. Let's so this! Silva gets the fans cheering early with a dominant win Murilo keeps the hometown momentum going with a bug win over Anjo. He deserved a little bit of celebrating Ismail gets rocked by a Tadeu kick I liked the contrast of styles match between Martins and Salman. Salman finishes strong to get the win Karelin's becoming an international UWF superstar. I'm sure he'll be in the title hunt soon. Takada wins over the Brazilian fans Onita upsets Fujiwara. It looks like Onita could be a big future draw in Brazil Maeda shows Brazil why he's a legend as he defeats a very game Vrij There's no doubt that Sayama is a fighting champ. He took on Ruas in his hometown and retains. Nice sportsmanship by Ruas. After a little bit of controversy, he settled down a hostile crowd. I would call this event a big success. I'm sure the UWF will be back in Brazil. As always, great job with the match descriptions.

I know you've been busy so really appreciate the update. Great job getting Rich over as a babyface especially with his heel history in our game. Wow, Lawler denies Bossman the shot which I found very interesting. Bossman's reasons were legit and I think Lawler does owe him. Can't wait to see where this goes Savage continues to play his part well and of course Liz is an important part in that In a short time, Austin is really making a name for himself here Damn! Ric Flair will defend the AWA world title against El Canek. Tonight, the four horsemen will be here as will El Canek. We've got that and a whole lot more, so lets get to the ring. The Snowman vs. Neil Jordan Snowman uses his impressive power to dominate. He swings Jordan to the ropes and nails him with a running double axehandle for the easy win. Nelson: Snowman, in Mexico you have the huge task of taking on King Kong Bundy. As you've seen, Bundy's been on quite the rampage recently. Snowman: Oh, Bundy's a big and bad monster, but he can't handle what I've got for him. I'm talking about sheer power and raw strength! I'm putting the big bad monster down in Mexico! Commercial Break Jimmy 'The Stud' Golden vs. Carl Kellerman Golden just pummels his opponent before putting him down with the piledriver. Golden cuts an intense promo on Cactus Jack and says he's going to beat him senseless in Mexico! Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, here with me is Tiger Conway Jr. along with Shaska Whatley and Skip Young, the Jive Tones. Tiger, after getting defeated by Latin Desire in Winnipeg, where do the Jive Tones go from here? Conway: What? You think the Jive Tones are washed up now? Conway's shocked as he tries to process everything that just happened. The fans cheer as Slater and Garvin raise their fists. Looks like a new team has arrived in the AWA. Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, as you know, the AWA has a huge card coming to Mexico next week. I want to announce that the Magnificent Muraco will return on that night. Also, announced last week, Stan Hansen will defend the AWA International title against Col. Debeers. Let's hear some pre recorded comments from Stan Hansen. Hansen: Debeers! I've heard you've been running your mouth again. Well, I would like nothing more than to put my fist right in that big fat mouth of yours! I'm keeping this title and I'm going to beat the living daylights out of you! Bobby Blaze vs. Brad Rheingans Rheingans is back to being solo after his Olympian partner Ken Patera was sent packing. Blaze frustrates Rheingans early with hip tosses and arm drags. Blaze turns it up with a snap suplex 1..2..Kick Out. Rheingans turns the tide with a thumb to the eye followed by a gut wrench suplex 1..2..Kick Out. The momentum continues to shift as both men shine. Rheingans gets the upper hand and goes for a bodyslam but Blaze executes a quick small package 1..2..3! Big POP! Blaze celebrates as Rheingans pounds the canvas in pure frustration. Commercial Break The Guerreros vs. Todd Rooney and Ray Glader Even though they dont have to, the Guerreros break the rules just for the fun of it. They win the match with a double flapjack. The fans boo as the Guerreros wonder why. Commercial Break 'Lionheart' Tony St. Clair vs. 'Mad Dog' Buzz Sawyer Sawyer enters the ring with a chain around his neck. He's pacing like a madman and screaming. Tony enters the ring. Sawyer tosses his chain to the outside and attacks Tony as the bell rings. Sawyer's all over Tony and seems extra vicious (if that's possible) tonight. Sawyer starts biting Tony's forehead and laughs as the Ref makes him stop. Sawyer swings Tony to the corner and sprints in, but Tony moves as Sawyer crashes head on into the turnbuckles. By instinct, Tony grabs Sawyer and rolls him over 1..2..3! Tony rolls outside and celebrates with the fans before heading back up the aisle. The Ref checks on Sawyer. Sawyer grabs the Ref and powerslams him over! The fans are shocked. Prelim wrestlers hit the ring but Sawyer brutally beats them down one by one. Sawyer exits the ring and starts flipping over chairs and yelling St. Clair's name. Sawyer grabs his chain. Security rushes out as he swings his chain. Nelson quickly goes to a commercial Commercial Break We see a desolate town. Nell is standing in the middle of a dirt road. Nell: There's a man walking around that made a grave mistake. That man's name is Texas Red. Oh Texas Red, did you think we would just vanish? You say you're the one waiting for us. Oh no my friend, we're waiting for the day, the day of reckoning. Your day of reckoning. The Hangman walks up and grips his noose. Nell: Texas Red, your day is coming. Commercial Break 'The Modern Day Warrior' Kerry Von Erich vs. King Kahlua Kerry starts off strong and pinballs Kahlua all over the ring with clotheslines, slams and back drops. Kahlua gets things going his way with an eye gouge. Kahlua slams Kerry and follows with a knee drop 1..2..Kick Out. Kahlua chokes Kerry on the top rope and flings him back. Kahlua stomps down on Kerry, picks him up and slams him down. Kahlua goes to the top rope and crashes down with a flying elbow drop 1..2..Kick out! Kahlua berates the Ref and yells at the fans. Kahlua swings Kerry to the ropes but misses a clothesline. Kerry swings back and shoulder blocks Kahlua down. Kahlua staggers up as Kerry puts him down with the discuss punch! Kerry applies the claw and it's all over. Big win for Von Erich. Commercial Break Nelson's standing in the ring. Nelson: Fans, joining me now is the man who will face Ric Flair for the AWA world title in Mexico. I'm talking about El Canek. The fans cheer loud as Canek enters the ring wearing a suit along with his colorful mask. Nelson: El Canek, you are a legend in Mexico and this is a tremendous opportunity for you. There's a commotion from the fans. Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson and Larry Zbyszko stroll into the ring. Nelson: Hold on. This is El Canek's time. Your time is later on. Tully: Whoa there Mr. Nelson. Have you forgotten who we are? We're the four horsemen and we're the ones at the top of the AWA. Our time is whenever we want it to be. The world champ has something to say. Flair walks up to Canek. Flair: I don't know if you can understand me but brother, you better pay attention. You might be a big deal in Mexico but pal you're getting into the ring with the greatest wrestler walking the face of the earth. I'm Ric Flair and I'm custom made from head to toe. So, if you think you've got a chance in your hometown to take this here title away from me well you better think again. After I get done giving you the wrestling lesson of your life, you're going to walk out of your hometown with your tail between your legs. Speaking of legs, you might not be able to use them come next week. Arn and Zbyszko jump Canek! Nelson runs out of there. Arn and Zbyszko hold up Canek. Flair takes off his jacket. Cheers as the Swords of Light hit the ring with chairs. The Horsemen get out of there. The Swords help Canek up. Canek rips off his suit jacket and tells Flair to come on! Tully guides Flair back as the Enforcers point and warn Konnan and Gama. Things are heating up for Mexico.

A lot of great stuff going on in WCW! I love that Sting made it into the top 10. That was great storytelling. Then we get Sting and Nikita going at it. The stakes are high at the Clash! Doom has been on a rampage, especially Simmons. First Bulldog, then Jannetty. He's taken out 2 champions! Sid's getting over like crazy. I can't wait to see who Crush is bringing in to even things up with the Samoans. The Hennig situation has been a lot of fun. Pillman and Zenk are fired up. I can't imagine who Hennig will find as a partner since he's bad mouthed just about everybody. Big Josh has done a fine job mentoring El Gigante. Steamboat ekes out a win against Hall and gets his shot at Luger. Luger certainly has his hands full in the coming weeks. WCW's been fast paced and a blast to read

SummerSlam! Here we go! I'm sure after watching P&G vs. The Fantastics the WWF got in some last minute buys. The picture of Fenway and Paula Abdul gives this a big time feel. Larry Nelson: Hello everybody and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. Tonight, David Sammartino defends the TV title against Austin Idol. JW Storm takes on Gary Young. Texas Red faces his toughest test to date in the AWA as he goes up against Chicky Starr. Also, we will show you some disturbing footage which will be followed by an appearance from the AWA world tag team champs, the Enforcers. More on that later. Ok, let's get to the ring. The Power Twins vs. Neil Jordan and Frank Leone The Power Twins pinball their opponents all over the ring during the match. The finish sees Dave hold up Jordan in an overhead backbreaker position as Larry comes off the top rope with a forearm blast to the chest for the win. Commercial Break 'The Future' JW Storm vs. 'The Maverick' Gary Young Young still seems distraught and unfocused. Storm on the other hand looks intense and extremely focused. Storm puts his strength to work and rocks Young with several power moves. Young gets in spirts of offense but tonight belongs to Storm. Storm swings Young to the ropes and puts him down with a lunging clothesline for the win. Nelson: Fans, joining me now are JW Storm and the Destruction Crew. Big win for you JW. Commercial Break 'Thrilling' Tom Brandi vs. Arnie Goldstein Brandi's pumped up tonight and wins the match with a flying press from the top rope! Nelson: Ok, Tom Brandi, you're the man who sent Ken Patera packing. I'm sure that was very satisfying for you. Brandi: I would be lying if I said it wasn't Larry. That man put me out of action for months, so yea it was nice to get some payback and get rid of him for good. Boos as the Vin Man walks out with Tommy Jammer. Nelson: Come on Vinnie, this is Tom Brandi's time Vin: Relax Larbo, I'm just here to clear things up. Everybody is saying Tom Brandi is the hot sensation in the AWA but I have to laugh at that. My man Tommy Jammer is what's happening. Brandi, you think you're special because you sent an over the hill strongman packing. That doesn't impress us one bit. I mean, let's see what you can do against a man in his absolute prime, like Tommy Jammer. Brandi: Vinnie! If your stooge wants a match with me, then bring it on! As a matter of fact, we can do this right now! The fans go wild as Brandi gets into the ring. Jammer walks towards the ring but Vinnie holds him back and escorts him up the aisle as the fans boo. Commercial Break Texas Red vs. Chicky Starr Starr attacks at the bell and pounds away on Red. Starr swings Red to the ropes but Red reverses it and whips Starr into the corner. Red charges in with a back elbow smash. Red pummels Starr in the corner with fists. Red grabs Starr's arm, walks across the top rope and crashes down with a fist to the head. Red hoists Starr up and executes a hanging vertical suplex. Red angrily stomps down on Starr. Red swings Starr to the ropes and nearly takes his head off with a leaping clothesline. Red picks up Starr by his hair and nails him with the Heart Punch! 1..2..3! Red calmly walks out of the ring, looks into the camera and says "Nell, Hangman, I'm waiting" After being attended to by Medics, Starr is stretchered out. Commercial Break Nelson: My goodness! Texas Red is on a rampage. I'm not so sure Nell and the Hangman want anything to do with him. Switching gears, I want to show you footage of something that went down at the Allen County Coliseum a few days ago. Footage is shown of the Soul Patrol celebrating a win. From behind, Arn Anderson and Larry Zbyszko (wearing street clothes) attack them. They proceed to give the Soul Patrol a brutal beating. They hurl the Soul Patrol out of the ring. On the outside, Zbyszko whacks Walker with a chair and follows with a swinging neckbreaker on the concrete! Arn hoists Jones up and gives him a brainbuster on the concrete! Security rushes out. Nelson: Right now, I'm going to talk with the AWA world tag champs, the Enforcers. Boos as the Enforcers arrogantly walk out. Nelson: Next week, you're scheduled to be here with the AWA world champ Ric Flair and the figurehead Tully Blanchard, but after that disgusting incident, I had to talk with you two today. The Soul Patrol worked hard to get their upcoming title shot in Mexico but you two robbed them of that opportunity. They'll be out of action for a while. Just why in the hell would you do that? Zbyszko: Let me keep it simple for you and all these spudheads. Last week, the Soul Patrol came out here and ran their mouths. Well, talk is cheap and we proved those two clowns just don't have what it takes to be in the same ring as the Horsemen. Arn: The fact of the matter is this, we came out here and put the AWA on notice. We had to send a message of what the Horsemen are all about. We gave them a beating they'll never forget and I bet now people will think twice about getting in the ring with us. Nelson: Well, just so you know, in Mexico you will still be defending your titles. You'll be defending them against the Swords of Light. Zbyszko: Oh please. really? That's the best the AWA could come up with. Arn: The Swords of Light are out of their league and just like the Soul Patrol, they don't have what it takes! Zbyszko: (flicks Nelson's tie) See you next week Nelson Commercial Break The Takano Dragons vs. Vic Dutro and Willie Lopez Shunji executes a superplex on Lopez as George follows with a frog splash for the easy win. Nelson: As you just saw, the tag team division in the AWA is beyond competitive. Fans, just a reminder, on September 1st the AWA will be at the Arena Coliseo in Mexico City for a tremendous event. Ric Flair will defend the AWA world title against El Canek. You just heard the Enforcers will defend the AWA world tag titles against the Swords of Light. Sammartino runs to the outside, grabs Idol and swings him into the steel post. Sammartino grabs Idol's head and slams it in the apron. Idol is busted open. Sammartino hurls Idol back into the ring. Sammartino hops on the middle ropes. Idol staggers up as Sammartino nails him a double axehandle 1..2..Idol gets his foot on the rope. Sammartino swings Idol into the corner and charges in but Idol moves as Sammartino crashes into the turnbuckles. Idol shakes the cobwebs and wipes the blood from his face. Idol starts stomping away on Sammartino and chokes him with his boot. Idol picks up Sammartino and hits a snap suplex. Idol picks up Sammartino and body slams him, then hops on the middle ropes and crashes down with a knee drop 1..2..Kick Out. Idol picks up Sammartino and gives him a neck breaker. Idol puts his knee on Sammartino's chest and flexes as the Ref counts 1..2..Kick Out. Idol yells at the Ref. Idol swings Sammartino to the ropes and clotheslines him down. Idol hops on the middle ropes and comes down with an elbow drop 1..2..Kick Out. Idol is pissed. He slowly picks up Sammartino and goes for the piledriver. Sammartino fights it and eventually back drops Idol over. Idol staggers up as Sammartino sends him flying with a knee lift. Sammartino regroups. Idol slowly rises as Sammartino hits a bulldog 1..2..Kick Out. Sammartino swings Idol to the corner but Idol reverses it and swings Sammartino into the corner. Idol charges in but Sammartino lifts his boots as Idol crashes into them. Sammartino grabs Idol and hits a belly to belly suplex 1..2..3!!!! Big POP! Sammartino hops on the turnbuckles and raises his title high as the show ends.

AWA releases Ken Patera and Steve Disalvo

AWA @ The Winnipeg Arena 8-9-90 'The British Bomber' Johnny Smith w/Les Thornton defeats a Local Talent with a Superplex King Kong Bundy vs. 'The Mighty Yankee' Steve Disalvo Disalvo came in with a game plan and that was to go all out with strength and power. Disalvo did bring the power game and had Bundy staggering and reeling after clotheslines and flying tackles. Bundy turned the tide and never looked back. Bundy swings Disalvo into the corner and hits the Avalanche. Bundy picks up Disalvo and swings him to the opposite corner and hits another Avalanche. Disalvo collapses. Bundy picks up Disalvo and slams him down hard. Bundy swings off the ropes and hits the big splash! Bundy stands up, swings off the ropes and hits another big splash 1..2..3! Bundy's pissed and the AWA better be ready. The Destruction Crew vs. The Renegade Warriors Both title contending teams bring their A games. The tide turns several times and both teams really showcase some excellent teamwork and chemistry. The roller coaster ride ends in a ten minute draw. 'Lionheart' Tony St. Clair vs. King Kahlua Kahlua is aggressive and batters St. Clair with some hard hitting blows. St. Clair comes back with some staggering European uppercuts followed by a vertical suplex but Kahlua stays alive. Things go Kahlua's way after a throat drop on the top rope. Kahlua has the momentum until he misses a top rope elbow drop. St. Clair comes back with a vengeance. He puts Kahlua down with a running forearm blast and follows with a floating butterfly suplex for the win. Cactus Jack vs. Jimmy 'The Stud' Golden Last week on TV, Golden hit Cactus from behind with a pair of brass knuckles. That was a big mistake. This match never officially starts because Cactus tackles Golden on the aisle and proceeds to give him a beating before security has to break it up. Loser Leaves Town Match Ken Patera w/Brad Rheingans vs. 'Thrilling' Tom Brandi This feud goes back awhile. Brandi kept getting upset wins over Patera. The Olympians then put Brandi out of action for months. Brandi returned at WrestleRock and helped the Soul Patrol defeat the Olympians. A fed up Patera demanded this match. The opening minutes is all Brandi as he has Patera flying all over the ring. Rheingans tries to get involved but Brandi dropkicks him off the apron. Brandi continues his high octane offense until a trip by Rheingans stops his momentum. Patera brings on the strength and pummels Brandi with several power moves. Patera scores several near falls but gets pissed when he can't finish Brandi off. Patera yells to Rheingans. Rheingans goes to the top rope. The Ref is warning him. Patera clamps on the full nelson. Rheingans jumps off the top rope but Brandi spins Patera around as Rheingans nails Patera. Brandi hurls Rheingans out of the ring. Patera staggers up as Brandi swings off the ropes and hits a Thesz Press 1..2..3!!!!! HUGE POP! The Olympians throw an epic tantrum while Security escorts them out. Brandi takes it all in as he celebrates with the fans. 'The Modern Day Warrior' Kerry Von Erich vs. 'The Future' JW Storm Storm had some pretty strong words for Kerry last week and backs them up as he catches Kerry off guard and attacks at the bell. Storm controls early but Kerry comes back. It's a power match and both men bring it. The fans get a scare when Storm puts Kerry down with a lunging clothesline but Kerry survives. Storm swings Kerry into the corner and follows with a spear but Kerry moves as Storm crashes into the turnbuckles. Kerry swings Storm to the ropes and hits his discus punch 1..2..3! It's over like that! AWA National Tag Team Title Bout Latin Desire (C) vs. The Jive Tones w/Tiger Conway Jr. Another action packed tag match between two teams who have a heated history. Latin Desire are feeding off the new love from the fans and show off some unbelievable teamwork. The Jive Tones come back and take control. They almost win the titles after a double Russian Leg Sweep on Lou but luckily Lou got his foot in the rope. Lou eventually makes the hot tag to Al and Al regains the momentum. A few minutes later a pier six brawl breaks out. Lou back drops Young over the top rope onto Conway. Al hits the Helicopter Drop on Whatley 1..2..3! Latin Desire retain and put a stamp on this feud. AWA World Title Bout 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair (C) w/Tully Blanchard vs. Leo Burke Solid main event that really has the crowd engaged. Both Flair and Burke have some showcasing segments. After 20 minutes of action, Flair is in control. Flair clamps a headlock on Burke and gives him a thumb to the eye. Flair gives a WOO and snapmares Burke over. Flair goes for a delayed knee drop but Burke moves. Burke staggers up and starts pumping his fists. The fans are going wild. Flair slowly gets up and Burke goes to town with forearm blasts. Burke swings Flair to the ropes and back drops him. Flair staggers up as Burke applies the sleeper! Flair's fighting it as Burke wrenches away. Tully gets on the apron and distracts the Ref. The Ref goes over and starts yelling at Tully. Burke releases Flair, runs over and takes a swing at Tully but Tully hops off the apron. Tully yells up at Burke. Burke warns him. Flair hobbles over and clips Burke behind the knee. Flair regroups and executes a shin breaker on Burke. Flair clamps on the figure four! Burke tries to fight it but Flair takes it to another level and wrenches away until Burke has no choice but to submit. A very valiant effort by Burke. Tully runs in the ring and hands Flair the world title. Flair kisses it and holds it up high.

AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 8-8-90 Ken Resnick: Hello everybody and welcome once again to AWA Major League Wrestling. Larry Nelson is in Winnipeg preparing for the big card there this weekend. We've got a great show for you tonight. Iceman Parsons returns to the AWA and he'll be in action against Bobby Blaze. Mike Graham will take on Mr. Saito. All that and a lot more, so lets get to the ring. The Heavenly Bodies vs. Todd Rooney and Ray Glader Landel and Prichard strut their stuff as they enter the ring. They do a lot of showboating during the match but take care of business when Prichard puts Glader down with a superkick and Landel follows with a corkscrew elbow drop for the win. Resnick: Well, you two made a surprise appearance at WrestleRock and have been impressive ever since. Prichard: Impressive is exactly the way to describe us Resnick. Landel: We've got the looks, the hair, the talent and soon we'll be holding championship gold. The Heavenly bodies stroke their hair and wave it around before exiting. Commercial Break El Canek vs. Neil Jordan Canek looks great tonight. He executes a superplex then swings off the ropes and hits a body splash for the win. It's announced that Canek will get an AWA world title shot in Mexico on September 1st in Mexico. Commercial Break Mr. Saito vs. Mike Graham We get an intense technical bout between these two ring vets. Say what you want about Graham but he can wrestle. He executes several take downs on Saito and puts his wrestling skills to work. Saito comes back with palm strikes and a gut wrench suplex but can't put Graham away. Graham comes back with a drop toe hold and turns that into a spinning toe hold but Saito is able to grab the ropes. Saito regains the momentum with a nasty throat thrust. Graham staggers around as Saito grabs him and hits the Saito suplex 1..2..3! Commercial Break Resnick: Fans, as you know the AWA will be in Winnipeg this weekend. Ric Flair will defend the AWA world title against Leo Burke. Another match signed will be Latin Desire defending the National tag titles against the Jive Tones. Let's hear some pre recorded comments from the Jive Tones. Conway: Latin Desire! You two chumps are holding something that's rightfully ours! Young: Everybody knows that we should be the National tag team champions and in Winnipeg, we're walking out with those titles, suckers! Whatley: We're talking about the Jiiiiiiiiiiiive Tones turkey! We're fired up and gonna take the titles off those greasy haired pretty boys! Bet on that! Commercial Break Col Debeers vs. Marcus Hanes Debeers punishes Hanes, twirls his mustache and finishes things off with the front face piledriver. Resnick: Col Debeers, at WrestleRock you were disqualified when you hit Carlos Colon with that club of yours. You busted the man's head open for Pete's sake! Debeers: Carlos the Untouchable Colon wanted a war and I gave him one. Colon got exactly what he deserved! Now that that peasant is out of the way, it's time for me to get back on track and go after a title. I have my sights set on the International title. That title is currently held by a fat and disgusting cowboy. Stan Hansen, I'm putting you on notice. Your title will soon be all mine! Sammartino: When I won this title, I said I was ready for all comers. I haven't ducked a challenge yet and I'm more than ready to take on Idol next week. Boos as Austin Idol walks out wearing sunglasses and a gold headband. Idol: Oh darling! Let's be realistic here. Austin Idol is the most from coast to coast. I'm the coolest cat in the AWA and I'm what the people want to see on TV. Sammartino, you're a bore baby and that title needs some charisma. Sammartino: No doubt about it Idol. You've got charisma but that wont be nearly enough to take this title from me. Idol, you just don't have the grit. Resnick smirks as Sammartino walks away. WHAM! Idol nails Sammartino from behind! Idol picks up Sammartino and swings him into the steel post. Idol takes off his sunglasses and sets them on Sammartino's face. Idol: You see what I'm talking about Resnick. Now he's got a little charisma. Commercial Break The Swords of Light vs. Harold Bannister and Arnie Goldstein Konnan hits a side suplex on Goldstein and tags in Gama. Konnan hoists Goldstein up as Gama hits the missile dropkick for the win. Commercial Break Resnick: Fans, as you just saw, the tag team division in the AWA is more competitive than ever. On that note, my guests at this time are the Soul Patrol. James Brown's Liv'n in America plays as the Soul Patrol come out wearing Uncle Sam hats and USA themed vests. Resnick: Ok, you guys are coming off a big win at WrestleRock and have earned a shot at the world tag titles. How do you think you'll do against the Enforcers? Walker: We heard the Enforcers talking about how tough they are and if there's any team man enough to face them. Well, here we are. and we'll take that challenge. Jones: The Soul Patrol are riding high. It was a long and hard struggle, but we've finally got our shot. Get ready Enforcers because the Soul Patrol is coming after you! Commercial Break Bobby Blaze vs. Iceman Parsons Blaze enters the ring wearing his white jacket with red flames. He waves to the cheering fans. We are Family blasts over the speakers as Iceman Parsons comes out dancing his way to the ring. The first few minutes is back and forth action with neither man gaining a solid advantage. They trade hip tosses, dropkicks and body slams. Both men back up and regroup. They smile at each other and give each other a high five. The match continues as they momentum shifts several times. After another stalemate segment, they both back up and smile again. They go for another high five but Parsons kicks Blaze low! The fans let Parsons have it as the boos reign down. Parsons picks up Blaze, swings him to the ropes and hits the Hip Attack for the win! BOOOOOOS! Parsons starts laughing and jumps up celebrating. Resnick: The fans and I were really looking forward to seeing you back Iceman. Then you pull that? Come on! Parsons: If there's one thing I've learned in this business, it's win any way you can! A win's a win and that's all that matters. That youngster just learned a valuable lesson. (laughs) The Iceman cometh! Resnick: (shaking his head) Looks like Iceman Parsons came back with a new attitude. Fans, next week we'll have footage from Winnipeg. See you then.
