TNT Wrestling Update A lot is happening as TNT gears up for its television debut on the USA Network. Jerry Jarrett and Joe Blanchard are ecstatic about their new working relationship with Verne Gagne and the AWA. They are more than confident that their TNT roster will be an exciting addition to the AWA. After his world title loss to Hulk Hogan in April, Nick Bockwinkel rebounded well by defeating Jerry Lawler for the Southern Title. With the formation of TNT, the Southern title will be now known as the AWA TNT Heavyweight Championship. Bockwinkel thought for sure this would guarantee him a world title rematch with Hogan. However, before Bockwinkel defeated Lawler, a deal was made during the AWA merger that Jerry Lawler would get a title match with Hogan in Memphis at the first ESPN super card on Jan. 23rd. Needless to say, Bockwinkel is furious and has been very vocal about this. The AWA committee has assured Bockwinkel that he will get a world title shot in the near future. In the meantime, Bockwinkel should stay focused on his TNT title as Wahoo McDaniel, Austin Idol, Tony Atlas, Terry Funk and Harley Race all want a crack at it. Recently signed Leo Burke and Hercules Ayala are coming in with one goal on their minds...the AWA TNT Championship. All these contenders will keep Bockwinkel very busy. The current AWA Southern tag champs, the Fabulous Ones are ready to take on all comers and they have a long line of contenders including the Nightmares, Guerreros, Mike Shaw and Randy Colley, and the international team of Billy Robinson and Jumbo Tsuruta. TNT is going to put a lot of focus on their tag team division. Another team that's coming in with a lot of buzz is Sweet Brown Sugar and Koko Ware. It's been announced that on TNT's debut show on the USA network, a match between Tommy Rich and the Dream Machine will take place to crown the first TNT Television Champion. TNT is looking forward to having a title defended frequently on TV. Tully Blanchard has already issued a challenge to the winner. Tully says he's the only wrestler in TNT that's worthy to hold that title. And finally, rumors are circulating that Jerry Jarrett and Joe Blanchard have been in serious negotiations with Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody. Hansen and Brody are both huge global stars and this would be a major coup for TNT and the AWA. Stay tuned!

Nice NJ house show with Flair/Santana and Hogan/Dr. D. Never get tired of Flair and Santana going at it. Looks like Dr. D isn't done with Hogan after all as he sends a message at the expense of Hillbilly Jim. Good tag team showcases tonight. I like this version of the Nasty Boys. Showing off their toughness with less comedy. Rougeaus are looking strong. Sting and Davey Boy are all kinds of excitement. The Horsemen once again cut classic promos. Main Event 3 is a must see. Fun TV main event as the Russians get a strong win over the Rockers. Good ol Hacksaw and the 2x4 save the day once again.

LOL, love the Garvin/Embry reunion. Brings back great Texas memories. Nikita Koloff and Devastation Inc. continues to cause havoc but oh man Stan Hansen comes in to even things up! I cant imagine a Koloff/Hansen feud, WOW! The tag team scene is off the charts. Ladd walking out on the Fab Ones makes things even more interesting. Looks like The Moscow Machines are creeping up the ranks as well. Reed is back on the singles track. Only a matter of time before he's holding gold. Agree with the Bundy/Luger pairing, so random but works LOL. Things are going up a level in the UWF!

Man JCP is on fire! Lot's of great action as everybody wants the spotlight. I think Koloff might regret walking out on Brown. Speaking of Koloff, him and Ole get a huge win over the Stud Stable. Mark Youngblood is on the roll of a lifetime right now. He might be in line for a US title match. Dibiase vs. Orndorff on TV!!!! Wow that's going to be epic. I was heading towards those two so I'm really excited that your doing it. Johnny V has his boys fired up. Even Johnny saw some action. I'm liking Cooley's new aggression. Greg Gagne seems to be having a career rejuvenation in JCP. Good to see the Professor is doing well as he gets a C.O. win over Kerry. Kerry got payback on the Flame. LOL, poor Kernodle gets his flag torn by DJ. Loving these battlebowl matches. I agree that having JJ will only elevate Prichard. All this and vacant titles to be filled. JCP is riding high.

Show kicks off with an angry and frustrated Simmons. Poor Chavis felt his wrath. I really got a kick out of the Mosh Pit Match LOL. Such an ECW type of thing. Payne gets some good revenge on Shaw here. I wonder if that finishes things between them. Brad issues the one on one challenge to Brian. We'll find out who the better man is. Larry Z explains his actions to Sandman and ends up getting blasted. Looks like these two will be going at it soon. Wild end as Luger and Simmons are now in cahoots with Cornette. I think Eaton is going to need some back up. Looking forward to their No Holds Barred Match. You're doing a great job as you continue to make every week a must watch (read) show.

Good PT as the Rougeaus make their debut, making the tag team scene even hotter. Good follow up promo with Paul E and the Nasty Boys. Oh man OMG returns and immediately goes after Duggan. I'm all for a Mid South style feud between these two. Mulligan with some strong words for Barry. Really fun TV main event as Santana takes advantage of the chaos and gets the pin on Arn. I know that MSG card had the fans standing. Hart comes back from his Muta defeat with a strong win over Muraco. Not the best week for the Horsemen as they fall in a 6 man tag but then again hard to beat a Andre/Mulligan/Santana combo. Wow! Will the decision stand? Is Muta the champ? What a wild finish. Hogan takes down Dr. D the bounty hunter in a bloodbath. One can only wonder who will be next to try and collect. You cant go wrong with a Flair/Savage main event. Chaotic finish. I know Flair has the horsemen but man does he have some huge names coming after him.
-
Oh man so much going on in Crockett Promotions! I like the idea of continuing the NWA name for your titles. There's just to much history there to abandon. Kerry gets a tough break in having to relinquish the world title. I'm also glad to see your going with Kerry/Dibiase at Starrcade. Wow! Studd ends up as world champ! For a minute I really thought Sweet Brown Sugar was going to pull off the ultimate upset. Studd will make a pretty dominant champ. I wonder what JJ Dillon is up to? Speaking of Dillon, nice to see him acquiring Tom Prichard. Prichard can really be a huge star here. I'm sure you know what stood out most to me out of all this LOL- The departure of Rock Riddle. I think Crews and the Blondes will shine with Johnny V. I bet Davey Baby Crockett is really upset that Riddle is gone LOL. Cooley finally turns! J Tex is formed! Gary Hart has put together quite the stable. I'm going to be watching Jimmy Snuka. I'm really interested in Paul Orndorff. He certainly has a list of challengers for his Mid Atlantic title. I think Orndorff will eventually get to the world title scene. I could really see him becoming the top guy in Crockett. Time will tell. Really fun stuff going on with this entire shakedown.

Fun fast paced match between Muta and Hart. Muta takes it and now we get a bonus as Muta gets a TV title shot. Muta and Hennig should be fantastic. Speaking of Hennig, him and the Rockers get one over on the Hart Family. I wonder where Valentine's frustrations will lead?? Awesome tag title match as the Horsemen really sell tonight. Wild ending with Dr. D! I'm loving this bounty angle and cant wait for that Hogan/Dr. D showdown. The excitement doesn't end there as we get a huge surprise with Paul E!!! Great way to end another great SNME.
-
Two really cool things stand out here. RnR get a classic Non Title win over the Midnight Express, no doubt setting up a rematch. LOL, I'm talking about these two teams so I should say rematches. Next, we get Nikita laying out Lawler which no doubt sets up a great program between those two. That will be a very intriguing program. With all that going on, Simmons quietly leaves the UWF. HMMMM, I wouldn't mind seeing Reed get some shots at Nikita. Nikita has so many challengers in line, making the UWF a very exciting show to watch.

Whoa! The AWA has gone way up to another level. There is some amazing stuff going on here. First I get excited about the Love Connection team of Perez and Candido. Then I totally mark out for the combination of Slater and Borne! That is one awesome team! Next, we get a rejuvenated Syndicate and they're attacked by a returning Spivey! On top of this there's a great feud going on between British Steel and Death Sentence. And who are these Blonde guys??? Good grief! Look at that team Spivey put together! Backlund, Martel and Simmons all in the AWA! Awesome main event as Race takes Steamboat to the limit, proving he still has fuel in the tank. Zenk continues to roll as TV champ. Jake and Nord continue to be a pretty dominant pair. Tonga Kid is racking up some nice wins in openers. No doubt that Finley/King Tonga match was a hard hitting affair. Vader is steamrolling over the competition. Scott Hall is improving more and more. I agree with Edger, Orton is quietly one of the AWA's top guys as he continues to be a solid Champ. Once again all this great stuff going on and Roddy Piper is around! That proves how stacked this AWA is. Hats off to you Rain.

Jim Crockett Promotions puts on another fun and unpredictable show. That Singh/Lewin match must of been quite a brawl. That's followed by a falls count anywhere match where that sneaky Kernodle interferes. The fans get a treat with a US title open challenge match and who steps up? Sabu! Dibiase continues to infuriate fans by winning LOL. Steve Armstrong gets a big win over Snuka. Bad News keeps his winning ways going with a strong win over Idol. Fuller's ultimate Studd takes the Professor to school.
-
Things are really heating up now! Davey Boy and Sting, side by side, wow! Watch out Nasty Boys. Same goes for the Hart Family as Hennig has found new allies in the Rockers. Bret vs. Muta...YES!!! What a mega announcement as we get to see Savage and Windham one more time. What an epic feud that has been. Gigantic 6 man tag announced. With everything going on with Mulligan, DR. D and the bounty, who knows what's going to happen. Horsemen are all business during that promo. Fun TV main event as Hacksaw's 2x4 proves to be a good equalizer. Next up SNME, should be a good one.
-
Good to see you back in full force Gene! Nikita with Akbar only makes Devastation Inc. more devastating. Ernie Ladd has his Fab Ones ready for both RnR and the Midnight Express. I'm also happy to see Brisco remain by Buddy's side. He's guidance is sure paying off. Buddy advances in the TV title tournament. Smart move by JYD. I'm looking forward to his big comeback. What a TV main event! Man, they really did a number on Magnum's ribs. Hot card in Memphis. US Express continue to climb the ranks with a good win over the Long Riders. Love that hard hitting 6 man tag. Nothing gets resolved in the RnR/Fab Ones Match but that's ok because we just get to see more of these dream matches. Taylor gets a nice title defense over Luger. Lawler gets a huge win over Bundy. I wouldn't mind seeing Lawler go for the world title. Speaking of world title, WOW! What a gutsy performance by Magnum but the injured ribs were just to much. Williams did the right thing. I'm all for a Nikita/Williams showdown.
-
Catching up. So much happening in the AWA. Guerreros win back their 6 man titles! Looks like the Bock/Saito/Larry Z faction is coming to an end. Hall, Tonga Kid, and of course Super Vader are on some hot streaks. I think we're going to get a Steamboat/Vader title match soon. Speaking of Steamboat, he's really knocking off some series challenges from the likes of Orton and Race. I liked the Orton/Kabuki match ups. Leo Burke finally dethrones Garvin for the Canadian title. I really enjoyed that feud. Adams sends Blackwell packing then he suffers the same fate against Patera. The big news there is Dynamite Kid! I really thought Death Sentence was going to win the straps but British Steel fights off the challenge. Zenk is having a solid reign as Southern Champ. Badd Co. and Sheepherders are having some great brawls as are Youngbloods and Can Am's. You know you have something special here when I haven't even mentioned Jake and Piper yet. The AWA is pretty amazing right now.
-
LOL, Bad News continues to cause problems for Rude and Fernandez. Sooner or later he will get to Dibiase. Wow, JJ acquires Tiger Jeet Singh! Will JJ be able to control him? With St. Clair and Singh as his partners, JJ didn't really have to do much LOL. It's pairings like Brown and Rheingans that make Battle Bowl matches so much fun.
-
Good follow up show from DOV. Show starts off with a bang as Bobby Eaton's ECW title celebration is interrupted by none other thanJim Cornette!!!! So much history, but Cornette just had to push it and ends up paying the price. I wonder how Cornette will retaliate??? That was one hot Luger. Their rematch will be very interesting next week. Azrael looks strong with a win over The Highway Men. LOL, funny seeing Tommy Dreamer at this stage. That was one eerie promo by Payne. I don't think Shaw knows what's in store for him. War Horse beats a beaten up Levy. I think Levy needs to regroup. Fun main event as SOC gets a big win and title shot. That poor Ref suffers Sid's wrath.
-
That was one stacked Omni card! Good seeing Reed and SBS doing well. The inevitable Sullivan turn! Poor Mike Graham, he took a couple of bad beatings tonight. Maybe it's time to make that call to Steve Keirn. Sawyer takes the Young Guns title with help from Sullivan. That's one dangerous duo. I'm sure Windham will be back with a vengeance. I know that Omni crowd went nuts when Rich won the title. Rhodes and Dory have an epic match that goes the distance. Dory was literally saved by the bell. New tag champs as Studd and Muraco dethrone the Briscos. I thought for sure Flair was going to walk out with the belt but NO, Wrestling 2 pulls the pin out of nowhere. Whatever Wrestling 2 was doing under the ring, it worked LOL. By the looks of things, Southern States Wrestling is gaining a lot of positive attention and I'm sure will be officially part of the NWA real soon. Airing on WTBS is a powerful thing.

Huge announcements everywhere! Jim Crockett Promotions responds in a big way to the UWF's departure. I cant wait to see your plans with the world titles. Things have become very interesting.
-
Huge news!!!! Oh man the UWF is branching off! With the talent you have, this is probably the perfect time for the UWF to expand. I really liked the press conference. Nice touch with Bill Apter as it adds to the magnitude of this historic moment. I cant wait to see what you do with the UWF.
-
The Nasty Boys do a number on Sting. Sting needs a partner ASAP. LOL, fun seeing Gene interviewing Dr. D. Hercules downs Roma but the fight continues as all the partners brawl. Oh snap, Owen is here?!?! Muta sprays Owen and the distraction costs the Hart Foundation the match. I imagine both Owen and Bret will be gunning for Muta. Those are going to be some great matches! Once again, classic promos by the Horsemen but Andre steals their thunder by challenging Flair! How will Flair survive the challenge of Andre?? Wild ending as Mulligan takes it to Tully. How will this affect Tully and Arn's SNME match with the Mega Powers?
-
Going to be fun watching Super Vader dominate. Dundee gets a huge win over Nord but he better be watching his back. Great Burke/Adams match as Burke seems geared up for Garvin. Douglas/Pillman get an impressive win over the Bullies, solidifying themselves as contenders. Speaking of contenders, Death Sentence should be in line real soon for a title shot. Fun main event as Kabuki comes close to dethroning Orton. Lot's of things building in the AWA!
-
Great work! You really have things rock'n in Jim Crockett Promotions. Love the battle bowl matches and intriguing matches involved. Some really cool storylines continuing and starting. Will Dibiase survive Bad News Brown? The reformation of the Stud Stable gets the ultimate Studd. How will Orndorff react to that clothesline by Gantner? Looks like that Sheiky referee got one over on Gantner. Awesome seeing Johnson and Atlas together again but seems like Cooley might have a problem with it. Looking forward to seeing Koloff and Snuka going at it. Love that Kernodle/Smothers/Southern Ramblers angle going on. Cant wait to see where you go from here!
-
WOW! Just WOW! Declaration of Independence will defiantly go down in ECW history as one of the best shows. The show kicks off with a bang. Levy tries everything but all his money couldn't buy him a win against a fired up Azrael. Fun tag team grudge match as Armstrong gets some good payback in the form of Sid power bombing X and Tre Smooth. Bonus match as Simmons takes it to Sandman. Then poor Larry Z gets a beating from Simmons as Sandman leaves him hanging. What would an ECW event be without a surprise and we get a big one with Woman! Love the heel finish by the faces LOL. Fun old school gimmick tuxedo match. Good booking as Mero gets the win here after losing his hair in their previous match. That Arabian Death match was insane and the finish was even more insane. It might take Nord some time to get over that one. Man, who is more hardcore than Sabu?? The ECW championship match has to follow all this and it man does it deliver. Eaton defeats all odds, gets some much needed assistance from Sabu and beats Luger to win the title! Nice feel good moment to send the fans home happy. Awesome job!
-
Sabu and Nord in an Arabian Death Match, that sounds crazy, even for ECW LOL. Levy gets a big win over Armstrong but man does he have a challenge ahead with Azrael in the cage. Tre Smooth, LOL. Looks like X and Smooth might have to contend with Brad and Sid next. Fun brawl between Mero and Morton with poor Styles getting the worst of that. What a way to end the show. Luger and Simmons really do a number on Eaton. Doesn't look good for Eaton, as he heads into one of the biggest solo matches of his career. Then again, never count the resilience of Eaton out. Declaration of Violence is shaping up to be something big.
-
Dr. D going after the bounty is pretty dang awesome! Who better to go after the bounty than the bounty hunter himself. Another strong showcase for Muta. Really looking forward to that Hart Foundation/Muraco-Muta match, especially watching Bret and Muta exchange moves. Rough night for Hennig as the HTM makes his triumphant return. Great TV main event as the Bulldogs give Tully and Arn a run for their money. The Bulldogs found out when you go up against the Horsemen, you're dealing with all of them. The Mulligan/Windham situation is heating up. Looks like another action packed SNME is coming up.
