  1. Medusa gets her first TV title defense but if she keeps berating her stablemates she might end up with a short reign. Majors might have earned herself a title shot with that impressive showing. Yes! We get a Combs/Moretti interaction. Things get crazy as Combs ends up with the roll up win. Seeds planted. Great follow up from the Supercard.
  2. The Rebel has become a very entertaining character. I'm sure George was fine with the DQ especially after giving Bart that payback chair shot. When are wrestlers going to learn, you don't mess with Jimmy Jam's squeeze. It wouldn't be Mid South without a patriotic moment. US Steel gives the fans this tonight. It seems Hayes put up a fight but oh man nobody is getting up after multiple Dr. Death stampedes. Dr. Death now has some serious momentum. Hmmmm, was Ladd right all along? Seems Watts was favoring Brody a bit. Can't wait for Ladd's next promo. If this leads to another Brody/Bad News match, I'm all for it. Babyfaces end the night on a huge note. Reed defiantly sends the fans home happy after destroying Adnan for 5 minutes. Will Adnan pursue Dibiase? All that money can be very tempting. Great show Kev!
  3. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 8-6-86 Lance Russell: Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of AWA Major League Wrestling. Tremendous show lined up as you will see Earthquake Ferris take on Art Crews with the winner getting a TV title shot next week. Larry Zbyszko and his mystery partner will go up against El Canek and The Cobra. National tag team champs Cabin Fever will be in the ring as well as Ron Garvin, the Bruise Brothers, Richard Charland, Jose Estrada and the debut of yet another tag team, The Union. After what went down in Milwaukee, we'll be hearing from Ox Baker and Billy Jack Haynes. I understand we've been sent a special video from Japan with comments from Tiger Jeet Singh. I can only imagine what that's all about. And in our big main event the Dream Machine managed by Paul Jones goes one on one with Jimmy Snuka. What a night of action it will be, so let's get to the ring right now. The Bruise Brothers vs. Trent Watkins and Neil Jordan The former AWA world champs look good tonight and get the fans cheering early. Cash hits the crossbody/headbutt on Jordan, then tags in Snowman. Snowman hoists Jordan up and hits the running powerslam for the win. Resnick: Another great win for the Bruise Brothers. Well, I'm sure you guys saw Gerry Morrow's introduction of George Wells as his new Priceless tag team partner. And now they've got their sights set on you after what you did to Carl Fergie. Cash: I can't believe my old pal George has sunk this low. I have no idea what's gotten into him. If this is the sick game he wants to play, well then the Bruise Brothers are ready to keep the dice rolling. Snowman: What Morrow seems to forget is that he's the one that started all of this. Hey, if he wants to keep this going, fine by us. We'll finish the job and then it's time we go and get our titles back! Commercial Break "El Jefe" Jose Estrada vs. Vic Dutro Estrada just brutalizes his opponent as the fans boo. Estrada finally puts Dutro out of his misery with a high kneelift. More boos as Estrada heads out to Resnick. Estrada lights his cigar. Resnick: You've got some nerve lighting that up after what you did to Scott Casey 2 weeks ago. I would hate to be in your shoes when he returns. Estrada: (smiles) You're not man enough to walk in my shoes and neither is that pendejo Scott Casey. (takes a puff of the cigar and blows it in Resnick's face) Resnick: (coughing) We'll be right back. This is disgusting. Commercial Break Winner gets a TV title shot next week Earthquake Ferris vs. "The Ace" Art Crews Ferris uses his size and has Crews bumping all over the ring. Ferris swings Crews to the corner and charges in but Crews moves and Ferris hits hard. Crews regroups and goes to work on Ferris with stomps. Crews grabs the top rope and drops several knees on Ferris. Crews chokes Ferris on the bottom rope. Crews swings off the ropes and hits a guillotine! Crews pulls Ferris off the rope and covers 1..2..Kick Out. Crews goes to the top rope and attempts a knee drop but Ferris moves. Both men rise, Ferris blasts Crews with several forearm shots, swings him to the ropes and gives him a big back drop. Boos as TIMOTHY FLOWERS runs out and hops on the apron. Ferris walks towards him. Cheers as JERRY ALLEN runs out and yanks Flowers off the apron. Allen fires away on Flowers all the way up the aisle. Crews gets up and runs at Ferris but Ferris turns around and clotheslines him down and covers 1..2..3! Big POP! Commercial Break Resnick: Ok, Earthquake Ferris has just earned himself a TV title shot next week against the Great Gagne. Fans, I want to show you footage from the Milwaukee Auditorium and what went down during the AWA world title match between Ricky Steamboat and Billy Jack Haynes. Footage shows them battle to a double DQ. Afterwards Billy applies the full nelson on Steamboat outside the ring, then rams him into the steel post. Steamboat is a bloody mess. Resnick: I've been informed that on Labor Day Weekend at the Mid South Coliseum, Ricky Steamboat will defend the AWA world title in a rematch against Billy Jack Haynes. My guests at this time are Billy Jack and Ox Baker. Ox: You're looking at the uncrowned world champion! Did you see what this man did to the so called champion? He left him lying in a pool of blood. Steamboat is running scared because he knows his days are numbered. I told you and all these idiots that Steamboat couldn't handle this man's power and strength and I was right! Billy: Steamboat, you barely escaped Milwaukee with your title. At the Mid South Coliseum, you will not be as lucky. As a matter of fact, you'll be lucky if you leave in one piece! I'm coming Steamboat and brother you can't stop me! Commercial Break "The Wrecking Machine" Richard Charland w/Gino Brito Jr. vs. Todd Rooney Charland beats his opponent down then picks him up and hits an inverted atomic drop. Charland holds Rooney up, kicks him in the gut and follows with an inverted piledriver for the win. Brito runs in and says something to Charland. Charland stomps on a lifeless Rooney, picks him up and hits another inverted piledriver. Brito yells "One more" The fans are booing as Charland gets ready to hoist Rooney up for another. The fans are up and cheering as RON GARVIN runs in the ring and pushes Charland back. Garvin stands over Rooney with his fists up. Charland is furious as he walks towards Garvin. Brito steps in and holds Charland back. Charland stares Garvin down, then exits. Garvin calls for Medics as a commercial hits. Commercial Break Larry Zbysko and ??? vs. El Canek and The Cobra Canek and Cobra wait in the ring as Larry arrogantly walks around the ring and over to Resnick. Larry: I told all of you spudheads and you two masked jerks that I had a big surprise this week and I always deliver. Introducing my tag team partner...Giant Haystacks! The fans gasp as Haystacks comes walking out. Larry walks over and shakes Haystacks hand, then looks up in the ring smiling. Canek is staring Haystacks down. The last time the AWA saw Haystacks was at WrestleRock when Canek won the match via c.o. due to the top rope snapping. Canek talks with Cobra. Cobra goes out on the apron. Larry gestures towards Canek then pats Haystacks on the back before going out on the apron. Haystacks roars at Canek. The bell rings. Canek swings off the ropes and goes for a shoulder block but Haystacks holds his weight and Canek just bounces off him. Haystacks reaches down and starts choking Canek. The Ref starts the count, reaches 5 and tells Haystacks to break. Haystacks refuses and continues choking away. Cobra runs in and is trying to get Haystacks off but Haystacks sends him flying with a back elbow blast. Larry runs in, picks up Cobra and hurls him over the top rope. Haystacks continues choking Canek. The Ref has no choice but to signal for the bell and DQ Haystacks and Larry Z. Haystacks picks up Canek and drops him with a double hand chokeslam! Cobra gets on the apron but Larry kicks him off. Larry goes to the outside and slams Cobra on the concrete. Haystacks picks up Canek, holds him, then drops him with a front slam! Haystacks swings off the ropes and hits a massive elbow drop. Haystacks leaves the ring. Larry points down at Cobra. Haystacks picks up Cobra and front slams him on the concrete! Massive boos as Larry holds up Haystacks arm. Commercial Break The camera zooms in on the pink glowing 'Beauty Shop' sign then pans down to Brenda Britton. Britton: Hi everybody and welcome once again to the number rated segment in wrestling, the Beauty Shop. Wow! You people don't deserve this but my guest tonight is none other than Superstar Bill Dundee! Boos as Dundee struts out smiling. Dundee: (kisses Brenda's hand) Brenda, the pleasure is all mine. I couldn't think of a better place to return to than the Beauty Shop. Britton: Well, you sir are a true gentleman. And let me be the first to welcome you back. You're back here on TV but you actually returned in Milwaukee when you gave that phony King yet another beating. How many times have you beat that guy up? Dundee: (laughs, then ponders the question) You know Brenda, to be honest, I've lost count. And to tell you the truth, I never get tired of beating up that fool. and I'm going to do it again! Brenda: Is that right? May I ask when? Dundee: This is the best part. I get to do it on Labor Day, in his hometown at the Mid South Coliseum. Oh man, I couldn't ask for anything more. Britton: Well I'm defiantly going to show up for that. And to tell you the truth, I never get tired of watching you beat up Jerry Jarrett's favorite wrestler. What a night that will be. Dundee: Indeed it will. Lawler! You know you can never get rid of me boy. Come Labor Day, get ready for another beating you aint ever gonna forget! Britton: There you have it from the Superstar himself. Until next week toooodles. Commercial Break AWA National Tag Team Champs Cabin Fever vs. Sam Smith and Arnie Goldstein Cabin Fever are on fire tonight. Boone slams Smith, then tags in Manny. Boone swings Smith to the ropes and Manny nails him with the flying burrito for the win! The fans cheer as Cabin Fever hold up their National titles. Resnick: National champs Cabin Fever show why they're holding the gold. Right now I want to bring out Carlos Colon. Cheers as Colon comes out. Resnick: Carlos, it appears you ran Mr. Ito out of town and we have no idea on the whereabouts of Curtis Iaukea. Before we watch this special video, I have to mention. You were extremely violent in your match with Ito. It's almost like you were a man possessed. Colon: I did what was necessary. I had to fight fire with fire. That is the only way. The only way to defeat monsters sent in by Iaukea. Resnick: Well speaking of monsters, we're about to watch a video straight from Japan with comments by Tiger Jeet Singh. Let's take a look but I must warn our viewers, this could be disturbing. Singh is standing with his sword. Singh: Carlos Colon! It's been a long time. During that time I watched and watched, waited and waited for your demise. I paid Curtis Iaukea a vast amount of money and paid for the most blood thirsty beasts on the planet to annihilate and destroy you. However, one by one they all failed. No more money! I must now take matters into my own hands. It began with you and I and it shall end with your blood on my hands! And I will relish that taste! Colon! I'm coming for you! Beware Colon! Your nightmare has just begun. Back live Colon: Tiger Singh is a deranged and evil man. I've had enough! I will not be the hunted! Singh! It is you who is the hunted. I am the one coming for you! Colon leaves. Resnick pauses and shakes his head then goes to commercial. Commercial Break Footage from Milwaukee as Wahoo McDaniel defeats Nick Bockwinkle in a strap match. Lance: Next week, we'll hear from both Wahoo and Bockwinkle. National Champ Austin Idol will be here. Jerry Lawler will be in action. I'll have an update on the conditions of El Canek and The Cobra after that brutal attack by Haystacks and Larry Z. The Great Gagne defends the TV title against Earthquake Ferris. I'll be speaking with AWA world champ Ricky Steamboat. Listen to this main event. After what went down in Milwaukee, The Awesome Twosome will defend the world tag titles against the Golden Boys. Should be a great show. Let's get back to the ring for the debut of The Union. The Union (Ranger Ross and Spike Huber) vs. Willie Lopez and Grant Putnam Ross is decked out in his airborne Ranger gear and waving the United States flag. Huber is in full construction gimmick. Union have a solid debut and show off some great chemistry. Huber tags in Ross. Huber atomic drops Putnam into a Ross superkick for the win. Resnick: Congratulations Union on your first AWA win. So how did you guys get together? Ross: As you can see we're two guys who love this country. The military and construction industry are the backbone of America. Huber: We're a lot alike and have the same goals and beliefs. The Union is here and.... Boos as Soviet Steel (Markoff and Ustinov) come out waving Russian Flags. Markoff: Ranger Ross you are nothing but a weak American! That's right, our comrades the Koloff's told us all about you. They say you are pathetic and soft. Ross steps up but Ustinov blasts Huber from behind with his flag! Ross turns around and Markoff blasts him with his flag! The Russians stomp away and continue to hit then with their flags. Cheers as The Olympians run out and chase the Russians away. Olympians help up the Union as a commercial hits. Commercial Break Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka vs. The Dream Machine w/Paul Jones The bell rings but Jones is arguing with Snuka. Snuka grabs Jones but Dream nails Snuka from behind with a knee to the back. Jones exits as Dream stomps down on Snuka. Dream swings Snuka to the ropes and puts him down with a back elbow smash and follows with a jumping elbow drop 1..2..Kick Out. Dream chokes away on Snuka, picks him up and drops him throat first on the top rope. Dream picks up Snuka and executes a delayed vertical suplex 1..2..Kick Out. A frustrated Dream hurls Snuka out of the ring. Jones runs over and gets a few kicks at Snuka. Dream goes to the outside. He picks up Snuka and swings him towards the steel post but Snuka reverses it and swings Dream into the post! Snuka clears the cobwebs as Jones runs away. Snuka hurls Dream back into the ring. Snuka waits on the apron. Dream staggers up as Jimmy slingshots himself into the ring and nails Dream with a diving clothesline 1..2..Kick Out. Snuka swings Dream to the ropes and puts him down with a chop. Snuka picks up Dream and atomic drops him into the turnbuckles. Dream hits hard and staggers back as Snuka executes a back suplex 1..2..Dream barely gets his shoulder up. Snuka picks up Dream and slams him down. The fans go wild as Snuka goes to the top rope. Jones runs over and tries pulling on Snuka's legs. Snuka hops down and chases Jones around the ring. Inside the ring, Dream rolls over, reaches in his tights and puts a foreign object in his mask. Snuka catches Jones, yanks him back and puts him down with a punch. Snuka slides back in the ring. Dream rakes his eyes, grabs him and hits a jumping headbutt with the loaded mask. Snuka falls back against the ropes and his head is busted open. But wait! Snuka shakes the cobwebs and gets a crazed look on his face as he stares at Dream. The fans are up and cheering. Dream can't believe it. Snuka slowly walks towards Dream. Dream turns around and bolts over the top rope. Jones staggers over and leads Dream up the aisle as the Ref counts to 10. Snuka is bloody but stands tall as the fans cheer.
  4. Duker kicks things off with a decisive win. Love that finish by Goto and Akio. Regal takes Scott to the limit without the presence of Dark Journey. Spoiler has a tougher time without Journey as Brad catches him. Goto and Akio better be ready when the DWB's get a hold of them. Fujinami continues his impressive win streak with a top notch victory over Matt Borne. Heels get the best of the babyfaces tonight. Man, Bass really did a number on Magnum. Cool seeing the Mr. Wrestling 3 name being used. I would've payed to see that Hangmen/Sugar-Jack match. Dark Journey is building up quite the stable. Nice debut win for Crippler. Taylor and Zenk get the B loop main event slot and deliver with a crowd pleasing win over the Rich's. You and WSW are producing 2 solid loops. The AWA is going to have to turn it up.
  5. I've said this before but I love how you're using Tyree Pride. SPC turn the tables on Slick and get the win over the Duo. Looks like the Fort Bragg Brotherhood are closing in on the Moondogs. Sullivan and Abby are made for each other but a group is forming to do battle with them. Freight Train continues to be a fun opener. I like the heat going on between Chicky and JJF. Kendall puts down Kendo but OMG awaits. Brooks and Funk are always good for a wild Texas brawl. Slater is one bad dude. Not many people can take him down in a taped fist match. Just ask Pogo. Once again, WSW delivers 2 solid loops.
  6. AWA adds Joe Savoldi, Scott Putski and Vinnie Valentino (aka the Vin Man)
  7. Spoiler is quickly rising the continental ranks. Who is that masked Intern??? Highwaymen/Hangmen feud is perfect for Continental. Hangmen better also be watching out for Jack and Sugar. Dark Journey makes a serious error and costs Regal his title. Humperdink out heels the heels. Fujinami is now the number one contender. I could defiantly see him holding the gold. Taylor and Zenk retain their titles thanks to "fan favorites" DWB's. Very interesting. The high stakes match delivers! Olympia unmasks and Budro wins the title! Hmmmm, that reaction by Cooley,
  8. Freight Train vs. The Midnight Stalker, that sounds better than a superhero movie. After that match, I'm hoping for a SPC/Devil's Duo feud. OH no, Sullivan has his golden spike back and Pride gets nailed with it. Now Perez feels it. Somebody is going to have to get that spike and bury it someplace. The Fort Bragg Brotherhood are racking up the wins. OMG with a decisive win over Dutch. Kendell makes the save tonight but I fear for his life when OMG gets a hold of him. The mist is the only thing that could stop JJF from beating up Chicky. I'm sure Kendo is going to pay the price. Awesome main event! That 6 man tag gave the fans their money's worth. I cant wait for Slater/Jumbo.
  9. The young Brigade members are gaining a lot of experience being in there with the Guerreros. The masked Avenger wearing new gear. Could this be the beginning of something big? The odd couple are working their way up the ranks. This time Adams gets the c.o. win. The c.o. rule might have to be waived for their next TV title match. The Gilbert/Muta feud is out of control. I'm loving it. Hart Foundation and Badd Co. are having issues. No doubt a showdown is coming. Oh man look at that 10 man tag match! Duggan gets the pin. Is Rose next. BTW, I can't wait to see Finlay and St. Clair go at it one on one. Candido might be in the running for comeback wrestler of the year. Not many teams can stop Hansen and Miller. Busick's spinebuster slam is one of my favorite finishers. Orton found out Pillman has some capable friends. Smothers makes the most of his main event slot and retains over a game Steamboat. Pacific continues delivering top notch cards.
  10. I agree with AD, something about Smirnoff makes him fun to write for. I can't think of a better vigilante than Dr. Death. Hayes could be in serious trouble. Alaskan Headhunters make a dominating debut! Watts is laying down the law tonight. I wonder how Ladd and Adnan are going to get out of these stipulations. I really want to see Reed get 5 minutes with Adnan LOL. Looks like Precious has another admirer. Tatum better watch himself. Mike George puts down Iron Mike as he gets ready for Bart. The Roop/Norvel feud goes to another chapter. The masked Yankee strikes again. He's certainly making large enemies. Luckily Brody makes the save. Bad News vs. Brody is going to be epic. That Shreveport card is loaded!
  11. Glamour Girls kick things off with a nice win. I think we have title contenders. I've really enjoyed the Mitchell/Pardue feud. This match was hard hitting and brutal. Of course we know how these types of matches play out for the babyfaces. Mitchell gets the win and says she's done but Pardue might have other plans. Richter is holding gold again! Medusa is pissed. I like where this is going. Is there anybody hotter in WWW than Moretti? That battle royal win catapults her to an even higher level. Combs better be on high alert. Solid, clean and technical world title match. Combs retains but Misty can hold her head high. Awesome show!
  12. It's so great seeing the SPC together again! I would love to see them get a title run. You do an outstanding job with continuity. Slick has a lot to say and the Devil's Duo back it all up. I'm all for another joint NWA card. WSW gets its long awaited supershow. Labor Day can't come soon enough. Al Perez is a great hand to have here. Chicky continues to get some serious heat. Always loved a good masked man surprise. The fans blow the roof off the place as JJF pulls one over on Chicky. Will things get settled in a street fight? Man, that's going to be a fight. Akbar in cahoots with Sullivan? Wow! Watch out WSW! Wild Texas brawl to end the show. Slater is going to have an amazing run here.
  13. Suspensions and fines are running wild. I hope Nikita spends the next 30 days training because Magnum might have his number at Beach Brawl. Nothing like a good cowboy feud. Highwaymen and Hangmen are going to give the fans some great brawls. What a great angle. The re debut of Lucious. I can only imagine. Gordon's reactions crack me up. Scott Armstrong has his sights set on the Jr. title. Idk, Regal's been on a hot streak and has Dark Journey in his corner. I was looking forward to Mulligan's explanation and I have to say, just like Ernie Ladd, he made some sense LOL. Mulligan, Olympia and Bass along with RPG is one solid heel stable. Brad and Fujinami is going to be a classic. Whoever wins, defiantly deserves that title shot. The next segment does a great job of making the tag titles feel special. I love the heel team interactions. Well done. I need to pull the trigger on some heel vs. heel matches. Hangmen and Highwaymen waste no time in getting in more heat. Man, the tag team division is stacked! The cage match stipulations are set and Budro returns! So much to process. After that promo, Buddy seems pretty damn sincere. So much riding on that cage match. A lot of fans are going to pay to see that. Wild brawl to end the show and sell more tickets. Week after week, continental remains a red hot territory.
  14. AWA @ The Milwaukee Auditorium 7-31-86 El Canek and The Cobra defeated Soviet Steel- The Russians show how tough they are but in the end, Canek hits a gorilla press drop on Markoff and Cobra follows with a senton for the win. "The Ace" Art Crews defeated Tony Garea with a kneedrop from the top rope. "The Wrecking Machine" Richard Charland w/Gini Brito Jr. defeated Steve O with an inverted piledriver "Rugged" Ron Garvin defeated "Diamond" Timothy Flowers- Flowers got to caught up antagonizing the fans that when he turned around, Garvin nailed him with a KO punch for the win. Indian Strap Match Chief Wahoo McDaniel vs. Nick Bockwinkle These guys give the fans a solid 15 minute fight. Wahoo starts strong and has Bock bleeding quick but can't drag him to all 4 corners. Bock comes back and is ruthless. Before long, Wahoo is bleeding. Bock starts to work over Wahoo's bad knee and is able to drag Wahoo to 3 corners but Wahoo breaks the momentum. Wahoo gets fired up and takes it to Bock. Wahoo uses the strap and whips the hell out of Bock. Bock's back is beet red and he's on the verge of passing out. Wahoo ties up Bock's hands and drags him to all 4 corners to get a very satisfying win. AWA World Tag Team Title Bout The Awesome Twosome (C) vs. The Golden Boys The champs obviously made a big mistake by underestimating the challengers. The first few minutes is all Golden Boys as they have the champs bumping all over the ring. The Awesome Twosome are far from awesome tonight and can't get any solid momentum. At the 10 minute mark, the Golden Boys clothesline Hennig and Adias over the top rope. The dazed champs stagger around, grab their titles and just walk away. The fans boo as the Ref counts them out. Golden Boys can't believe it as they get the underwhelming c.o. win. Awesome Twosome remain world tag champs. AWA National Title Bout "The Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol (C) vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler This one's a good one. Things get going quick with a good punch exchange. Lawler gets the upper hand, swings Idol to the ropes and back drops him. Idol staggers up and Lawler puts him down with a punch. Lawler continues to work Idol over and gets several near falls. Idol turns things around with a mule kick. Now it's Idol's turn as he controls things for the next few minutes. Idol executes a backbreaker and follows with a vertical suplex but only gets a 2 count. The fans fire Lawler up. Both men have another exchange. Lawler starts to get the upper hand and the strap goes down. The fans go wild as Lawler hammers away on Idol, swings him to the ropes and puts him down with a back elbow smash. Idol staggers up and Lawler clamps on the sleeper! Idol's arms are flailing and he hits the Ref. The Ref goes down. Lawler releases the sleeper and scoop slams Idol. Lawler goes to the top rope and crashes down with a flying fist drop but the Ref is still out. Thundering boos as SUPERSTAR BILL DUNDEE runs out in street clothes, goes to the top rope and crashes down on Lawler with a forearm drop. Dundee stomps away on Lawler, hoists him up and piledrives him down. Dundee hoists Lawler up again and gives him another piledriver. Idol staggers up and starts stomping away on Lawler. Now both Dundee and Idol are taking it to Lawler. A satisfied Dundee goes and wakes up the Ref, then slides out of the ring. Idol clamps on the Las Vegas Leglock. Lawler is already unconscious as Idol wrenches away. The Ref signals for the bell. BOOOOOO! Idol is declared the winner. Dundee celebrates on the outside as Idol holds up his National title. Dundee is back, here we go again. AWA World Title Bout Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat (C) vs. Billy Jack Haynes w/Ox Baker Things start slow as Billy uses his strength to work over Steamboat with a headlock. Billy grinds it on as Ox nods in approval. Steamboat pumps his fist as the fans cheer him on. Steamboat hoists Billy up and back suplexes his way out of the headlock. Steamboat rubs his neck and shakes the cobwebs. Both men rise, Billy nails Steamboat with a forearm blast, swings him to the ropes but misses a clothesline, Steamboat swings back and hits a flying press 1..2..Billy kicks out. Steamboat picks up Billy and slams him down, then goes to the top rope. Billy staggers up as Steamboat nails him with a brain chop 1..2..kick out. Steamboat hoists Billy up and executes a delayed vertical suplex, Steamboat swings off the ropes and hits a jumping knee drop 1..2..kick out. Steamboat gets up, swings off the ropes but Ox trips him. Steamboat staggers, turns around and heads towards Ox. The Ref and Steamboat have words with Ox. Billy staggers up, runs over and sends Steamboat through the ropes with a flying knee to the back. Billy distracts the Ref as Ox picks up Steamboat, slams his head on the apron, then hurls him back in the ring. Billy swings Steamboat to the ropes and just about takes his head off with a vicious clothesline 1..2..kick out. Billy swings Steamboat into the corner and charges in with a running shoulder thrust. Billy grabs the ropes and delivers several more shoulder thrusts. Billy hoists Steamboat up on the turnbuckles. Billy hops up and delivers a superplex! Billy covers 1..2..Steamboat barley lifts his shoulder as the crowd gasps. Ox gets on the apron and berates the Ref. Billy joins in as both men yell at the Ref saying that was a 3 count. Steamboat rolls over and uses the ropes to help himself up. He regroups, runs over and dropkicks Billy into Ox! Ox goes flying off the apron as Steamboat rolls Billy up 1..2..Billy is just able to kick out. Steamboat picks up Billy and swings him to the ropes but Billy reverses it, Steamboat swings back and both men just collide and go down. Both men stagger up and have a furious exchange! They just keep pounding away on each other. The Ref tries to break it up but both men push him down. The Ref hops up and again tries to break them up but again gets pushed down. The Ref has no choice but to signal for the bell and DQ both men. The bell is ringing but the fists keep flying. Ox runs in the ring and nails Steamboat from behind. Billy grabs Steamboat and gives him a short arm clothesline. Billy picks up Steamboat and clamps on the full nelson! The Ref tries to stop it but Ox grabs him and hurls him out of the ring. Billy wrenches away as he spins Steamboat around like a rag doll. Billy tosses Steamboat across the ring. Steamboat is lying under the ropes as Billy runs over and baseball slides him out of the ring. Billy goes to the outside, picks up Steamboat and once again clamps on the full nelson! Ox grabs the world title and holds it up as Billy continues to wrench away with the full nelson. Billy runs with Steamboat and rams him face first into the steel post. Steamboat is down and bleeding. Ox hands Billy the title. The fans are in riot mode as Billy raises the title. Official ruling- A Double DQ
  15. Adams looked impressive against Smiley. Adams vs. Rotunda sounds intriguing. WHOA! The Bulls return and take out all their frustrations on one of my favorite teams Iron and Steel. Didn't see this coming. This is going to be one hard hitting power feud. I'm all in. YES! I had so much fun writing for St. Clair and was looking forward to watching him in another territory. He fits in this story so well and it's good to see him back as a babyface. Mike Miller lives up to his mean moniker with a devastating win over Yamada. The arrival of the masked avenger is causing a serious riff in the 5 man army. Can't wait to see where this goes. Muta and Gilbert are back and so is the heat! Loved that brawl and it's only a taste of what's to come. Brookside puts in an impressive performance but the Playboy proves why he's the champ. I like that you throw in some random one off title matches. Keeps things fresh. I need to do more of this.
  16. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 7-30-86 Footage from last week is shown as Greg Gagne defeats Scott Casey in a very tainted way to win the TV title. Lance Russell: Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of AWA Major League Wrestling. Tremendous show lined up. Just listen to this main event. Jerry Lawler teams with Wahoo McDaniel to take on National champ Austin Idol and Nick Bockwinkle. Jerry Allen goes one on one with Timothy Flowers. AWA world tag champs, the Awesome Twosome will be in action. Golden Boys will also be in the ring as will Larry Zbyszko. Ox Baker's man, Billy Jack Haynes gears up for his upcoming world title shot. All that and a lot more. Let's get to the ring. The Golden Boys vs. Vic Dutro and Willie Lopez Golden Boys look sharp as they tune up for their world tag team title shot this weekend. They win the match with a double gourdbuster! Golden Boys cut a promo with Ken Resnick and say they're one hundred percent focused and ready to take the titles this weekend in Milwaukee. Commercial Break Resnick: Fans, please welcome out Johnny Valiant and the new AWA TV champ The Great Gagne. Thundering boos as Johnny struts out with the champ. Gagne is wearing full on Gatsby attire (suit, 2 button lapel, brown vest and of course a newsboy hat) along with the TV title on his shoulder. Resnick: Well Greg, you won the title but under very questionable circumstances. Valiant: Whoa, stop right there Resnick. First off, you address the champ as the Great Gagne. Just look at him. He was born to be a champion. Next up, questionable circumstances? I think not. I didn't put Jose Estrada up to anything. Him and Scott Casey have some bad history and that's between them. Resnick: Scott Cassy suffered severe burns to his chest from a cigar you gave to Estrada. Valiant: Look, Jose and myself appreciate fine cigars and I simply gave Estrada a gift, whatever he decided to do with it is his business. Now back to what's happening and that's the Great Gagne. You see, I knew he was a winner and that's why we're here at this moment. Greg, this is your moment, seize it. Gagne: Thank you Johnny. Johnny Valiant, the only man who believed in me. Not these idiot fans, not Jerry Jarrett and especially not Verne Gagne. But Johnny Valiant. And now the world is ours. The Great Gagne will go down as the greatest AWA champion of all time. Ken Resnick, that's all for today. More boos as they exit. Resnick: Time will tell. The AWA debut of Tim Horner when we come back. Commercial Break "White Lightning" Tim Horner vs. Neil Jordan Horner uses his speed to work over his opponent. He hits arm drags, hip tosses and dropkicks before winning the match with a flying body press. Horner cuts a promo and says he's ready to take on the best the AWA has to offer. Commercial Break Jerry "Alright" Allen vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers Allen controls early with some high flying offense. Flowers takes a powder as they fans razz him. Flowers starts arguing with the fans, hops on the apron and continues to yell at the fans. Allen runs over and hurls Flowers back in the ring. Allen is all over Flowers, swings him to the ropes and gives him a big back drop. Boos as Art Crews hits the ring and blasts Allen from behind! The Ref signals for the DQ. Crews stomps away. Flowers regroups and joins in for the 2 on 1 beatdown. Cheers as Earthquake Ferris hits the ring and cleans house. Ferris helps Allen up as we go to commercial. Commercial Break Larry Zbyszko vs. Trent Watkins Larry seems upset and aggressive as he dominates the match. Larry finishes things off with a swinging neckbreaker! Resnick: Larry, I have to ask, last week you and the Cobra were set to square off but you decided to hit him with those nun chucks instead. Why? Larry: You ask me why? I'll tell you and all these spudheads why. I was set for a wrestling match and that showboating clown decided to try and upstage my glorious debut. He deserved what he got and deserved more but that other fool El Canek decided to stick his nose in my business. Big mistake. I've arranged to have a match next week. Those two jerks versus myself and a mystery partner. Canek, you're going to love this surprise. Resnick: Interesting match set for next week. I hope Canek and Cobra are prepared. Larry is a very devious individual. Up next another new team here in the AWA. Commercial Break The Olympians (Brad Rheingans and Bill Kazmaier) vs. Todd Rooney and William Hillman The Olympians come out wearing matching red white and blue attire. Rheingans hits a gutwrench suplex on Rooney then tags in Kazmaier. Kazmaier swings Rooney to the ropes and clamps on a bearhug for the impressive win. Resnick: Brad, Bill come on over. Tell me and all these great fans how you guys got together. Bill: Well, Brad Rheingans actually had a big hand in training me. He taught me how to put this strength to good use in the ring. I can't believe we're finally able to team up here in the AWA! Brad: I'm excited too. With Bill's record breaking strength and my wrestling background, we're going to make a very cohesive unit. Resnick: I have no doubts about that. Commercial Break The camera zooms in on the pink glowing 'Beauty Shop' sign then pans down to Brenda Britton. Britton: Hi everybody and welcome once again to the highest rated segment in wrestling, the beauty shop. Now, last week the Rock n Roll Express were out here taking shots at the Fabulous Ones, so I thought it was only right that I gave the Fabs a platform to respond. Please welcome out the Fabulous Ones. Fabs strut out and each give Brenda a big kiss on the cheek. Britton: My oh my, it's so nice to have a real men and a legit tag team out here. You heard the comments last week and now it's your turn. go right ahead. Keirn: Yea we heard those babies out here whining and crying. They talk tough but that was only because they knew the Fabs weren't in the building. Lane: Those posers are nowhere near our status. We already gave them a first class fabulous beating and if they want another one on Labor Day then we'll be more than happy to give them one. Keirn: Everybody knows were the originators and they're nothing but a cheap rip off. Come Labor Day, we're going to show them who the top dogs are around here. Lane: There's only room in the AWA for the real deal and that's us! On Labor Day, RnR is going away and the Fabs are here to stay! Brenda: Well put! I'll be counting down the days. Until next week toooodles. Commercial Break AWA World Tag Team Champs The Awesome Twosome vs. Clint Walker and Carl Kellerman Sheer arrogance as the champs pretty much toy with their opponents. Adias executes the airplane spin and tags Hennig. Hennig hits the Fisherman's suplex for the pin. The champs cut a promo and say wrestling the Golden Boys will be a night off. They're more focused on celebrating afterwards at the bars in Milwaukee. Commercial Break Footage from the Cook Center is shown as Cabin Fever defeats the Beasts of Burden inside the steel cage to retain the AWA national tag titles. Ox Baker storms up to Resnick. Ox: How dare you show that footage! Once again incompetent officiating costs the Beasts. I'm filing a protest and I guarantee my Beasts will get a fair shot and take back what's rightfully theirs! In the meantime, all my anger and rage will be focused on Billy Jack destroying Ricky Steamboat and winning the AWA world title in Milwaukee. In case you don't believe me, just watch this. Billy Jack Haynes w/Ox Baker vs. Arnie Goldstein Billy runs in and just destroys Goldstein. Billy swings Goldstein to the ropes and clotheslines him down. Billy follows with several rabbit punches to the back then picks him up and applies the full nelson. The Ref signals for the bell. Billy spins Goldstein around and tosses him across the ring. Billy looks into the camera "Steamboat! You're mine!" Commercial Break Lance: Fans, next week you will see El Canek and The Cobra take on Larry Z and a mystery partner. Earthquake Ferris goes up against Art Crews and the winner will receive a TV title shot the following week. National tag champs Cabin Fever will be in action. Ron Garvin, Jose Estrada and The Bruise Brothers will all be in action. Listen to this main event, The Dream Machine goes one on one with Jimmy Snuka. And don't forget, this weekend at the auditorium in Milwaukee, the AWA comes to town with a big night of action. Our TV main event.... wait a minute, Gerry Morrow? What are you doing out here? Morrow is wearing a suit, fedora and sunglasses and of course holding a bottle of champagne. Morrow: HAHAHA! Did de Bruise Brothers think I would forget about our unfinished business? Oh no no no no. Dis is only de beginning. I have found a new partner, one that may come as a surprise and that's why I wanted to introduce him in front of you Lance. Please welcome out my new tag team partner George 'Wealthy' Wells. Wells comes out sporting blonde hair and wearing a suit, fedora and sunglasses along with a bottle of champagne. Lance: George Wells? What on earth! How could you align yourself with this man after what he put you through? Why? Wells: That's all water under the bridge. You see, I had an epiphany, a moment of clarity. Long story short, money talks and living the good life is what it's all about. And Gerry, thanks again for those stock tips. Morrow: (sets glasses on the podium and pours champagne) Now Lance, if you will, a toast to Priceless. Lance: Come on Gerry, you know I'm on the clock Wells: Man, where's Gordon Solie when you need him? Priceless laughs and toasts as Lance looks disgusted. Commercial Break Jerry "The King" Lawler and Wahoo McDaniel vs. AWA National Champ Austin Idol and Nick Bockwinkle Lot's of heat in this match. Lawler and Idol have some heated exchanges as do Wahoo and Bock. 10 minutes in and Wahoo has the upper hand on Bock. Wahoo swings Bock into the corner and goes crazy with the chops. Idol runs in but Lawler stops him and punches away. Lawler punches Idol through the ropes. Lawler and Wahoo swing Bock to the ropes and put him down with a double back elbow smash. The Ref guides Lawler to the corner as Wahoo lifts Bock up for a suplex. Idol runs in and clips Wahoo behind his bad knee. Wahoo and Bock crumble down. Lawler runs back in and takes it to Idol. The Ref is trying to break them up. Bock slides out of the ring and grabs a chair. Wahoo starts to stagger up just as Bock blasts his knee with the chair. Bock tosses the chair and covers. The Ref turns around, runs over and counts 1..2..3! Lawler punches Idol out of the ring and goes after Bock but Bock slides out. Lawler attends to Wahoo as the show ends. 17. The Highwaymen continue their winning ways. Dark Journey has revitalized the Spoiler. Armstrongs best the Rich's. I think Johnny and Davey are a little lost without Tommy. They better start pulling some money together. Regal is rolling as Jr. Champ. Dark Journey really has something going on here. Mulligan is making a lot of enemies and is quickly becoming one of the most hated heels. Props to Brad, Zenk and Taylor for going toe to toe with the Japanese. Gotta love a Continental main event. LOL, RPG faking a heart attack was hilarious. Plan backfires as a mysterious masked medic takes it to RPG and Olympia. I hope one day we get all these masked medics in the ring at one time.
  18. Richter looks great tonight and seems obsessed on winning gold again. Great job giving us a hard fought and clean match to determine Comb's opponent. Misty Blue earned it. Velvet had guts but the previous injuries catch up and of course Medusa takes advantage and the TV title. The reign of Medusa begins! Really solid show. Can't wait for the next Supershow!
  19. The sight of Slick putting on the headdress and dancing cracked me up. Looks like something might be brewing between Whatley and Perez. Loved the impromptu tag match. Nice bonus for the fans. Fort Bragg Brotherhood gets a huge win over Dungeon of Doom. Are the Moondogs next? Glamor Boys each pick up a nice solo win. Brooks shows he's a man that can still get the job done. JJF and Chicky seems to be just getting started. This is going to be a great feud. OMG continues his dominance. Oh man, Mantell gets the mist tonight. Slater going after Jumbo could be a game changer. Nice job running 2 loops. Your roster defiantly pulled it off.
  20. Watts is laying down the law! Rocky Johnson is quickly getting over with the Mid South fans. The man has charisma! Another great promo by Ladd. He takes it a bit further tonight with those ominous comments. Fun match between Bart and George. I agree, suspending Bart for a week might of been overboard. I think Watts is just fed up and pissed. WOW! Hayes turns the heat way up with that hospital attack on Gordy. I wonder what Watts is going to do? I don't think that will compare to what a healthy Gordy is going to do. LOL, poor Carl Fergie. He just can't catch a break. He was in way over his head with Reed. Wearing a Yankee mask here will defiantly get some boos. That attack costs Blackwell his match. Another feud that's gaining some serious momentum. Hard hitting main event! Russians take it tonight but man that was a fight. I look forward to the dark matches every week. Jimmy Jam wins the Gorgeous title. Race was distracted but Jake putting him down with the DDT is still a big deal. Superstars take the champs to a draw. Williams and Dibiase have a threat on their hands. The fans in Baton Rouge got a great night of action.
  21. That tournament was a lot of fun. I really had no idea who was going to win it. Highwaymen look strong in the first round with a solid win over a hot Sugar/Jack team. Humperdink's team stays strong as Zenk and Taylor take a DQ win. LOL, I had a feeling the Stud Stable was just a bit to cocky. Gilberts get the win but pay a hefty price. Stud's are suspended and Gilberts are out of the tourney. Lot happening. It takes a chain to put the Armstrongs down. Good heat for Dirty White Boys. Regal proves his title win over Hamilton wasn't a fluke. Cooley gets a satisfying win over bodyguard Duker. WOW! Zenk and Taylor win the tournament and the titles! This team got over with me so I'm good with this. Looks like everybody is already gunning for them. Oh man! Huge swerve as Mulligan turns on Dusty! I'm sure the fans were in riot mode as the Russians, Olympia and Mulligan leave Dusty and Magnum a bloody mess. Things are going to get more wild and crazy in Continental. Great card!
  22. SPC are on a hot streak. Yet another team to watch out for. It takes guts to headbutt a man with a hockey mask or maybe Freight Train was just caught up in the moment. Either way, that's quite a visual. I think Pride might have earned himself a TV title shot by taking Whatley to the limit. I can totally get behind a Slater/OMG feud. Dusek isn't playing around tonight! Fort Bragg Brotherhood defiantly earned that title shot with that big win over Karachi Vice. Embry tried to pull out all the tricks against Doll. However, I have to give him props, he ends up with a clean win. Man, Jumbo and Dutch give the fans one heck of a main event. Jumbo retains in a very hard fought match and gives Dutch his respect. I liked your explanation of Jumbo. Very deep. The fans got their money's worth tonight. I wonder who's next for Jumbo?
  23. The NWA is cracking down! Dungeon of Doom banned along with a hefty fine. Sounds like Texas justice. Fort Bragg Brotherhood gets the show going with a nice win. LOL, I knew when Embry won the Jr. title it meant more mic time. Funny promo. Brooks puts in his work tonight as Akbar promises more devastation. Doll tunes up for his shot at Embry. I wonder if their partners will get involved? Lot of heat here. Dutch and Jumbo look sharp as they gear up for their big title showdown. Solid face off that sold a few more tickets. Can't wait for this match. Up next, the Sports Arena!
  24. AWA releases Mr. Ito AWA picks up Tiger Jeet Singh
  25. A lot happening in Continental. Tommy must come up with 100,000 dollars and a tournament is set to crown new tag champs. Maybe Tommy can reach out to Adnan or Morrow LOL. I'm liking the investigation into who the Interns are. With those incentives, I'm sure a lot of wrestlers will be willing to help. LOL! Bring Buddy back! What a creative story. I love how Landel is being used. He can get super over as a heel or face. The coalition of concerned wrestling fans, that's great stuff. We've got a nice little program going with Hamilton and Regal. Woman, man, the rebirth of Lucious. My reaction is the same as Solie's LOL. Nothing like an impromptu match. Stay tuned. WOW! Magnum got himself some serious back up with Dusty and Mulligan. The Russians and Olympia better be ready for an all out fight. I know the fans were going crazy for this. Well, the Rich's got their chance but Savannah and Sugar keep their tournament spot. Stud Stable are having a good time but better stay focused on the Gilberts. BOOOOO! Thanks to a lot of cheating and distractions, Bass takes the title from Cooley. I think this will defiantly help Cooley sign off on Buddy. Exciting show. Next stop Dothan.
