2/1/1986 JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI Hello everybody. Welcome to Crossfire a UWF Wrestling production. We are coming to you from the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, Mississippi. I am Lance Russell and my partner today is Jeff Jarrett. Well Jeff, we saw the King survive his match with Mr. USA Tony Atlas in the Mid-South Coliseum but the Nation of Domination is looking real tough. Jeff Jarrett: And let’s not forget that the Russian Nightmare is waiting in line and has a guaranteed title shot sometime in the near future. This is where Ivan & Nikita Koloff come out along with Boris Zhukov and we hear Uncle Ivan explain what is going on. Ivan Koloff: I do not say this much, but Cowboy Bill Watts and Jerry Lawler are smart people… that is for Americans. Nikita Koloff is an unstoppable force and as soon as he won the King of the Mountain Battle Royal and was granted a UWF World Title shot, you go and join the NWA. You think we do not know why. It is obvious you Americans were afraid of Nikita winning your World Title and having a Russian as the face of the United States Wrestling World. Well, we will still hold you to that match Jerry Lawler. Call it the UWF title or anything else you want. We are going to win it and then we will demand that the NWA send Rick Martel here and we will take his title next. Road Warriors and the Andersons…. Do not think we have forgotten about you. Nikita, Boris and myself we soon control the UWF and the entire NWA! MATCH NIKITA & IVAN KOLOFF & BORIS ZHUKOV DESTROY MIKE VERNON, TOM STONE & GREG OLSEN AS ALL THREE AMERICANS ARE LEFT IN A MANGLED HEAP ! COMMERCIAL MATCH THE MASKED AVENGER (ED WISKOSKI) DEFEATS TOMMY ANGEL WITH A REVERSE PILEDRIVER MATCH THE DIRTY WHITE BOY WITH RON WRIGHT DEFEATS THE ITLAINA STALLION WITH A BUCKSNORT BLASTEE AFTER GETTING HELP FROM WRIGHT HE USED THE KNUCKLEBUSTER ON THE STALLIIN. At the interview desk, Ron Wright hits an all-time low. He brings out the Long Riders along with the DWB and has them drape a Nazi flag over the interview desk while both Lance Russell and Jeff Jarrett are vehemently protesting. Ron Wright: I just don’t get it. I spent my entire career as a Christian wrestler always trying to do what was good for everyone around and now we have to put up with this! Lance Russell: Put up with what? Ron Wright: My man, the Dirty White Boy, must corrupt his own hands by putting them on some Italian. I mean what is going on in the UWF. Have we no shame. And the Armstrongs continue to run around here like a plague. Well tonight, mark my words! The Long Riders will begin the extermination of the varmitts around here when they beat the Wild Eyed Southern Boys, Tracy Smothers and Steve Armstrong! Jeff Jarrett: We will have to wait and see about that! Ron Wright: I would watch your mouth boy. Your Daddy is the cause of all of this infestation around here and if you are not careful, one of my Army members will take you out! COMMERCIAL MATCH UNITED STATES TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS BEAT THE MEMPHIS CONNECTION (Winston & Bryant) AS CORNETTE TRIPPED UP WINSTON AND BEAUTIFUL BOBBY HIT THE ALABAMA JAMMER At the interview desk, Jim Cornette is full of laughter at the lack of challengers for the Greatest Tag Team in the World today. All of a sudden, Junkyard Dog and Wahoo McDaniel come strutting out to the interview desk where Jim Cornette quickly changes his tune. Jim Cornette: I have no idea what you two diseased rats are doing out here right now but if either of you two put your rapid claws within an inch of my body, my mother’s lawyers will have a field day suing you for every dirty nickle you have. Junkyard Dog: Well Cornette, tell mothers lawyers to get ready to work because if you ever speak like that to me again, you will be taking out of the other end of your body. Wahoo McDaniel: We are sorry we were late but we were just with Jerry Jarrett when you were saying there is no competition for the U.S. tag titles. Jim Cornette: Well finally something good is happening around here. Jarrett hopefully suspended you two indefinitely for poor hygiene. Junkyard Dog: Actually, he just named us your opponents for this week’s event Nashville at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds. So shine up our belts! The Dog howls at the moon as he Wahoo walk off as we hear Cornette screaming at Lance about how Jarrett has no right to do this and mother’s lawyers will get to the bottom of this. MATCH LEX LUGER WITH BABY DOLL DESTROYS LARRY TUNNEY WITH A RACK ATTACK At the interview desk Baby Doll hypes up how Lex had Hacksaw Reed’s number at King of the Ring and that Reed’s days as the Southern States Champion are numbered. Once again, Jerry Jarrett comes out and agrees with Baby Doll and Lex Luger that they have been so dominant since arriving in the UWF that Lex has quickly moved up the ladder and is now the #1 contender for the UWF Southern Title and that he will get his shot with Hacksaw Butch Redd this week in Nashville. All of a sudden we hear that awful sound…. WE ARE… THE NATION…. OF DOMINATION repeated over and over again as Ernie Ladd leads Tony Atlas, Shaska Whatley and Hacksaw Butch Reed. Jerry Jarrett: Well that didn’t take long for the Nation of Thugs to come out here and I bet I know your plan…. Attack Lex 4-1 to make sure he doesn’t make it to Nashville. Well if any of you touch him tonight, Hacksaw Butch Reed will be stripped of his Southern Title oh and by the way, just to keep you guys busy… I have added a special match for tonight. It will be the Nation of Domination vs Jimmy Valiant, Tommy Rich and the UWF Champion, Jerry Lawler and that match is coming up right after this break. As the screen goes to commercial, Ernie Ladd is fuming and screaming it the microphone. COMMERCIAL MATCH THE NATION OF DOMINATION (Reed, Atlas & Whatley) VS JERRY LAWLER, TOMMY RICH & JIMMY VALIANT As you would expect, this is a wild one where each person gets a little shine. In the end it looks like Shaska is going to take the fall as the King has connected with his middle rope fist drop and is going for the piledriver. Lance Russell: Oh no! Not again. Here come the Russians. It is Nikita, Ivan and Boris who have hi the ring. The Russians plus the Nation of Domination are too much for anyone and the fan favorites take a huge beating here. Valiant, Rich and Lawler are left scattered all over the arena and it seems that Jerry Jarrett’s plan has backfired. Lex Luger was protected but the King is now mangled on the arena floor. COMMERCIAL Before our last match, a battered group of Lawler, Rich and Valiant are at the interview table where they are fuming at the attack by Uncle Ivan and his Comrades. While all three of these guys are great on the mic, the best part was that we were informed that they will get their chance at revenge this week in Nashville against the Russians in a 6-man tag match! MATCH THE LONG RIDERS WITH RON WRIGHT DEFEAT THE WILD EYED SOUTHERN BOYS (Tracy Smothers & Steve Armstrong) For the second time tonight we see Ron Wright and his Knucklebuster affect the outcome of a match as he cracked Steve Armstrong and then Wild Bill Irwin followed it up with a Superplex for the victory. This caused Bob & Brad Armstrong to rush out but Ron Wright’s Army headed for the hills are were gone before they could feel the wrath of the Bullet and his family. Lance informs us that the Armstrongs will be seeking revenge against the Long Riders this week in Nashville! So long from Jackson!

I am really enjoying 1986 between WCCW and Eric and Embry and you with Sullivan and the rookies. Sullivan is going to explode soon and I can't wait.

That card really got going and it was like 4 main events in one show. Roop is finally getting the attention he deserves in the game as you have him working just the way I remember him.

I never thought I would say this but of all the wrestlers in this game, I must have me some more of Eric Embry. He is must see TV!

Great opening here as you pump up the Renegade Warriros and then start two feuds at the same time with the Bolshevik Revolution and Bob Backlund. This is the type of thing that had me glued to WTBS at 6:05 every Saturday night. God I hate Vince McMahon for taking this stuff away from me. I am having so much fun right now being apart of the NWA. The sharing of talent we have going is exactly what could have kept the NWA strong for a long time. Just look at the Freebirds coming in to face the Andersons and Harley Race calling out Rick Martel. Great job here!

MAJOR UWF SHOWS FOR THE WEEK OF 1/25 MEMPHIS, TN- MID-SOUTH COLISEUM The Masked Avenger (Ed Wiskowski) defeats Dixie Dynamite with a Reverse Piledriver. The Long Riders with Ron Wright defeat the Southern Gentlemen (Steve Armstrong & Tracy Smothers) after Ron Wright caught Armstrong with his knucklebuster and Bill Irwin followed it up with a Superplex. Jimmy Valiant and Buddy Landell wrestled to a 15 minute draw Tommy Rich defeated the Dirty White Boy with the Sleeper and to the delight of the fans, he put the Sleeper on Ron Wright and laid him right next to the Dirty White Boy. Lex Luger & Baby Doll continued their destruction of all that get in their ways when he defeated Rip Oliver with the Rack Attack. Hacksaw Butch Reed & Shaska Whatley with Ernie Ladd defeated JYD and Wahoo by DQ as Wahoo cracked a chair over the head of Shaska. This was in retaliation to Ernie Ladd hitting JYD with a Big Boot so Wahoo hit both Ladd and Shaska with the chair. UWF UNITED STATES TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Bob & Brad Armstrong defeated The Midnight Express by DQ due to more interference by Ron Wright and the Long Riders. UWF WORLD TITLE MATCH: LUMBERJACK MATCH: Jerry “The King” Lawler defeated Mr. USA Tony Atlas with a middle rope fist drop followed by a piledriver. Lawler showed some real intestinal fortitude here as he was caught a few times in the bone crushing bearhug by Atlas but each time he refused to give up. Also, there was the actions of the Lumberjacks. Ron Wright’s Army and the Armstrongs spent most of it at each other’s throats as did the Nation of Domination against Wahoo and JYD. NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: LAKE FRONT ARENA The Italian Stallion defeated The Warlord with Skandar Akbar with a Powerslam. The Warlord is still learning his way around the ring but has some real power. Dick Murdoch defeated Iron Mike Sharpe with a Brainbuster Dirty Dick Slater defeated Brad Rheingans by submission as he used the ropes for extra leverage on his Figure 4. Blackjack Mulligan defeated Cowboy Don Bass by submission with the Iron Claw The Ultimate Warrior defeated Boris Zhukov with a Warrior Smash. Boris coming out waving the Russian Flag really got the Warrior fired up and this was his best bout to date. The Barbarian with Skandar Akbar defeated Sam Houston when Konga hit a Top Rope Diving Headbutt on Houston after Skandar Akbar tripped him up. UWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE: The Road Warriors and Ivan & Nikita Koloff wrestled to a double count out as all 4 men were brawling all over the arena floor. These Russians are the first team to stand up to the Road Warriors power and even Ellering felt the wrath of Nikita as he clocked the manager with a Russian Sickle. NORTH AMERICAN TITLE MATCH: Hacksaw Jim Duggan defeated Steve “Dr. Death” Williams by DQ as Akbar hit Duggan with his own 2 x 4. This allowed Dr. Death to retain his title but this feud is just getting going.

Oh boy! What has Embry gotten Garvin into now! Did he just cross the Funks?

I will admit that I am not very familiar with wrestling in Japan but you do such a great job of explaining as you go that it makes it easy to follow. I do remember seeing a few matches if Tiger Mask in the states and he was awesome!

Great card at Gilley's! I mean if Iceman and Black Bart is your opener, count me in!

Love how you are building up your entire roster like the Renegade Warriors and Johnny Rich. Win or lose, they all seem to come off good. I could almost see that Magnum/Ole match in my head as I was reading it. Great job here!

WWC takes the Southern Rastling style to the extreme. I wish I had seen these shows when I was a kid.

I agree with everyone here that the Nasties with Paul E is a nice pairing. You are doing a great job of selling the whole NWA as a strong, talent sharing unit which really adds to your cards.

1/25/1986 EVANSVILLE, INDIANA Hello everybody. Welcome to Power Pro Wrestling Crossfire a UWF Wrestling production. We are coming to you from the Soldiers & Sailors Coliseum in Evansville, Indiana. I am Jim Ross and my partner is Cowboy Bill Watts. MATCH IVAN & NIKITA KOLOFF CRUSHED ZACK EVANS & SHANE GARRETT AFTER NIKITA HIT EVANS WITH A RUSSIAN SICKLE Ivan Koloff: It didn’t take long for even you stupid Americans to find out that we Russians are superior in every way possible. At King of the Mountain, Nikita became the #1 contender to the UWF Title but Jerry Lawler is off hiding some place and is trying to weasel his way out. No worries as he can’t hide forever. We no have a problem. This week we will continue our domination over you Americans and we will capture the UWF Tag Titles after Nikita and myself crush the Road Warriors. All of a sudden, Paul Ellering leads Animal and Hawk out to the interview desk where it is obvious that the Russian Nightmare doesn’t scare them one bit. As the arguments begin to heat up, the newest Russian sneaks up behind Hawk and clobbers him from behind. Hawk no sells this and just turns towards Boris as the Ultimate Warrior comes out and now we are 3 on 3. This brawl is wild and requires a commercial break to restore order as Jim Ross hypes up the Tag Title Match this week in New Orleans at the Lake Front Arena. COMMERCIAL MATCH THE TEXAS TORNADOS (Kendell Windham & Sam Houston) DEFEAT IRON MIKE SHARPE & COWBOY DON BASS WITH A DOUBLE BULLDOG ON BASS MATCH HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN DEFEATED BUDDY LANDELL WITH A FOOTBALL TACKLE The interesting part here was that Skandar Akbar and Devastation Inc (Dr. Death, Konga & Warlord) came out to ringside and looked ready to attack Duggan to make sure that he couldn’t make it to the North American Title match this week in New Orleans but before they could hit the ring, Blackjack Mulligan, Scott Hall and Dick Murdoch came out to ringside. In a strange turn of events for the UWF, peace was maintained and we ended up with a huge stare down. The heels headed for the locker room as the fan favorites went to the interview desk. Hacksaw Jim Duggan: You call yourself Dr. Death but it is more like Dr. Yellow Belly. Ever sense you joined Devastation Inc, you run and hide behind the rest of Akbar’s goons! I told you last week that we are not going to stand for the nonsense that is going on around here anymore. You thought you were going to attack me 3-1 tonight but not anymore. We got each other’s backs and wherever one of us is, you can bet the rest are on guard. We will all be there in New Orleans this week and when I get you in the ring, I am leaving with that North American Title. Cowboy Bill Watts: Well one thing is for sure. No one around here hates Devastation Inc more than me and I want to see their destruction begin tonight. Lucky for me, I still own this company so later on tonight, it will be Dick Murdoch, Blackjack Mulligan and Scott Hall against the Barbarian, the Warlord and that turn coat, Steve Williams. Now to make sure that Akbar doesn’t stick his nose where it doesn’t belong, Hacksaw, I am granting you a one night managerial license so you can join your team at ringside. Jim Ross: Wow, this night has just got hotter than the Bayou in mid-July! COMMERCIAL MATCH CRIPPLER RIP OLIVER DEFEATS JERRY OSMAND WITH THE PILEDRIVER MATCH “DIRTY” DICK SLATER BEATS LOU WINSTON WITH THE FIGURE 4 The fans were all over Slater here as they remember him coming out at King of the Mountain and siding with the Russians. This doesn’t seem to bother Slater as he reminds us that he is here for one reason and one reason only and that is to sell his services to the highest bidder. As he walks off, we see Skandar Akbar come oer and talk to Slater but we do not hear what is said. Jim Ross does speculate that he is trying to buy his services and that Duggan better beware as Slater is one of the nastiest players in the game. COMMERCIAL MATCH DICK MURDOCH, BLACKJACK MULLIGAN & SCOTT HALL WITH HACKSAW DUGGAN VS DEVASTATION INC WITH SKANDAR AKBAR (THE BARBARIAN, THE WARLORD & DR. DEATH STEVE WILLIAMS This is nothing more than a brawl where the ref has to call for the bell and rule it a no contest. This did nothing to stop the chaos but that was just fine with the audience who was eating this up. One interesting thing that happened here was that Dirty Dick Slater came out and took a chair off to the side and just sat down and watched. When Akbar saw this, he had the biggest grin across his face. Before signing off, both Ross and Watts warned Jim Duggan that he better have eyes in the back of his head as he goes into his title match with Dr. Death this week as it looks like Akbar and Slater have something cooking. We are still trying to wrap our heads around all that happened in the King of the Mountain event last week in Knoxville and I promise you we will here from Pez Whatley and Ernie Ladd as they both have a lot to answer for. Jeff Jarrett: You got that right Lance. And let’s not forget tonight’s huge main event. It will be Bob & Brad Armstrong against the United States Tag Team Champs, the Midnight Express with Jim Cornette for the belts. Oh, I hope we have new champs tonight. Lance Russell: We will just have to wait and see. I am sure Cornette will have his team ready but before we get to that, let’s bring in Cowboy Bill Watts for a special announcement. Cowboy Bill Watt: I am so excited to announce that the UWF has been offered membership into the best organization in all of wrestling, the NWA and the UWF board of directors quickly accepted that offer. This will allow us to showcase our UWF stars all over the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico along with being able to bring the brightest stars from all the other NWA promotions to you. The UWF will now recognize the NWA champion as the World champion and the UWF champion will become the #1 champion in the UWF. So as to not duplicate any NWA title names with other promotions, the UWF North American title will now be called the UWF Continental Championship and the United States Championships will be now known as the Southern States Championships. Lance Russell: Wow! This is awesome news. I can only imagine Jerry Lawler vs Rick Martel or the Road Warriors vs the Andersons! Cowboy Bill Watts: Well tune into this week’s episode of Power Pro as the NWA World Tag Team Champions, the Andersons will be there! MATCH PEZ WHATLEY WITH ERNIE LADD DEFEATS RICKY GIBSON WITH A DIVING WILLIE (HEADBUTT) The crowd was outraged with Whatley for joining Ladd and his Nation of Domination and they were completely behind Gibson who performed well. The problem for Gibson was that Ladd got involved and tripped up Ricky which allowed Whatley to connect with a top rope diving headbutt. The situation got even worse at the interview desk when Hacksaw Reed and the other new member of the Nation, Tony Atlas, came out to join Lance Russell. Lance wanted to get to the bottom of what caused Pez and Tony to join with such a scoundrel as Ernie Ladd. Ernie Ladd: Shat your mouth Russell and that will also be the last time you call my man here Pez Whatley! He will now only answer to the name Shaska Whatley. Neither Shaska or Tony will speak to you today but make no mistake about it, together we will run the UWF. For some of you, it will be the worse nightmare when we win all of the titles. You saw it at King of the Mountain! Mr. USA was inches from winning the World title before Tommy Rich and Jimmy Valiant stuck their noses in where it didn’t belong. Lance Russell: Not sure what match you were watching. It was Pez, ohhh sorry, Shaska and Butch Reed who attacked the King after he connected with a fist drop and was on the verge of winning. And for God sake Tony, what are you doing with this group! Ernie Ladd: I told you once Russell, I will be the only one speaking for the Nation of ….. All of a sudden Jerry Lawler comes out and he is still real mad at the attack from Whatley and Reed the other night. Jerry Lawler: Tony, I thought you were a man, a real man. I was looking forward to our match. Your power was something that everyone in the world knew about. Now, all they know you for is being a member of the lowest organization in all the world. All of a sudden, the Nation starts to close in on the King but once again the crowd explodes as JYD and Wahoo come out to the interview desk to help even out the numbers. JYD: Well, well, if it isn’t the nation of Cowards. Not only did you need to jump the King in Knoxville cause Tony couldn’t get the job done, you found out that Hacksaw Reed doesn’t stand a chance against Lex Luger. As the situation is becoming more and more tense, Jerry Jarrett comes out and lets everyone know that this week in the Mid-South Coliseum, Tony Atlas will get a rematch against Jerry Lawler but he wants to make sure that there is no funny business going on so he makes the match a Lumberjack Match. He also goes on to explain that tonight right here on TV it will be Lawer, JYD and Wahoo vs the Nation of Domination. COMMERCIAL MATCH THE ITALIAN STALLION DEFEATS TOMMY ANGEL WITH A POWERSLAM In his first match in the UWF, the Italian Stallion does a nice job of getting some love from the crowd as he brought a lot of energy and really answered the bell when Angel tried some questionable tactics. MATCH THE LONG RIDERS & RON WRIGHT DEFEAT DON STONE & J.L MUSHER AS BOTH IRWIN BROTHERS HIT SUPERPLEXES FOR A DOUBLE PIN IN COMPLETE DESTRUCTION Ron Wright continues to succeed at getting some serious heat here. The crowd was already angry after the Irwin’s gave their leader the Hail Hitler sign but they became infuriated when he once again claimed that he was a “Christian” wrestler and has returned to the area to rid it of the heathens like the Armstrongs and if he has to, they will feel the wrath of “the chisel.” Lance Russell: You mean your illegal weapon that you have used over the years against anyone who is better than you. Speaking of better then you, those Armstrongs you speak of well be in action next against the Midnight Express for the United States tag team championship! That’s correct Mr. Wright. The Armstrongs are worthy of a title shot while your men are not. This really set Ron Wright off as he began to scream about how corrupt this place is and how his Christian group is being punished by the godless creatures who run the UWF. He continues yelling as we go to break. COMMERCIAL MATCH TOMMY RICH DEFEATS MIKE STACKS WITH A LOU THEZ PRESS This match again showed Wildfires new ways as he was on his best behavior and we even saw a few handshakes during the match. Rich continued to get new love from the crowd at the interview desk as he called out how sick and disgusting this guy Ron Wright is and that during the commercial break he went to Jerry Jarrett and demanded a match against any member of Right’s Army and that Jarrett granted him a match against the DWB. Rich now gets all fiiiiiirrrrrrreeeeed up about what he is going to do to the Dirty White Boy and that if the Armstrongs are anything, they are great people and Ron Wright better watch his mouth. MATCH LEX LUGER WITH BABY DOLL DESTROYS LARRY TUNNEY WITH A RACK ATTACK At the interview desk Baby Doll hypes up how Lex had Hacksaw Reed’s number at King of the Ring and that Reed’s days as the United States Champion are numbered. Lance Russell: Well folks it seems that the Nation of Domination might have grown in size with the addition of Pez, oh gosh I did it again, Shaska Whatley and Tony Atlas but they have definitely grown in people coming after them with Jerry Lawler, Wahoo McDaniel, JYD and now the Total Package, Lex Luger. COMMERCIAL MATCH THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS WITH JIM CORNETTE VS BOB & BRAD ARMSTRONG This is a rather long TV match as it goes about 10 minutes where both teams had their chances. Bob actually connected with his Georgia Jawbreaker and it looked like we had new champs but Cornette distracted the refs. We also saw Bobby Eaton hit the Alabama Jammer on Brad but Dad was able to make the save. The end saw complete chaos as Bob and Eaton were on the outside doing battle as Brad locked in the sleeper on Dennis. All of a sudden, Ron Wright’s Army hits the ring and the Long Riders along with Dirty White Boy go after the Armstrongs. It doesn’t take long for the calvary of Tommy Rich, Tracy Smothers and Steve Armstrong hit the ring. We get a few minutes of a wild brawl before the fan favorites gain control of the ring. COMMERCIAL Before our last match, we find out that Jerry Jarrett is livid for costing the Armstrongs a title shot by their interference and has granted another title match for Brad and Bob this week in the Mid-South Coliseum. MAIN EVENT MATCH JERRY LAWLER, JYD & CHIEF WAHOO McDANIEL VS THE NATION OF DOMINATION (Reed, Whatley and Atlas) WITH ERNIE LADD Just as you would expect, we see total chaos from start to beginning. The only problem was that we ran out of time due to the length of the last match. As we go off the air we see all 6 man going at it. Lawler is squared off with Atlas while Wahoo and the Dog are on the attack against Reed and Whatley. Jim Ross: Wow! It has been one brawl after another tonight and the feuds are already raging in 1986. Don’t forget to join us this week in Memphis, Tennessee at the Mid-South Coliseum. So long from Jackson.

Again, great job of building your entire card as your openers and mid-carders are getting a lot of push here on TV. Sawyer-Rich feud seems so normally in the NWA and it doesn't even matter which Sawyer or Rich it is. I have only seen a few quick videos of Rock Riddle but you seem to have him down perfect with the Davey baby quotes. Great job

I enjoy that all of our shows are slightly different. You do a great job of the announcers being the center of the show. You have stepped right in and seem so comfortable with the WWC. Were you raised on this brand of wrestling?

Ok, Gene wins. He is the master of writing comedy wrestling interviews. Embry needs an award. So much great stuff happening. Where this Dr. David thing goes is going to be something to watch. I also think the Flair/Funk thing was well thought out. Great work

Chris Candido is off to a nice start here. Not sure how often the French stars wrestled in the Toronto area but I wonder how they would have been received as we are beginning to get into that Quebec Separatist time period in Canada. This could lead to some fun angles as the same people could be both heels or baby faces depending on where the event was.

You do such a great job of always making certain people look good even in a loss. Your main event was a perfect example of that. The youngsters are a fun read and seem to be coming along nicely. Just wondering how professional wrestling does in Utah in general as it seems so anti-Mormon.

I am not the best planner but looking ahead, Hacksaw Duggan, JYD, Rip Oliver, DIck Murdoch, Wahoo McDaniel and Blackjack Mulligan might be available in late March

As always, you are doing a great job developing your story lines. The Varsity Club Rush is really fun to follow and I am wondering when Sullivan causes the chaos. Steamboat vs Orndorff is going to be great and I am already wondering if we will see a new champ. With Patera back with Blackwell, your tag division and your possible feuds are heating up.

The people at the Scope had an event that they will not soon forget. Just the heat that the Sheik brings makes a trip to the arena memorable but add but add the Stud Stable, the tournament and Bob Roop attacking Taylor and you have a great NWA event.

Enjoy seeing Ron Garvin on top here. Your roster is in great balance where you have enough people to take the fall which is allowing some of the up and comers to shine and you have enough stars to keep the Main Event hot and fresh.

KNOXVILLE CIVIC CENTER JANUARY 18, 1986 Welcome everyone to the first UWF wrestling special of 1986. I am Jim Ross along with my partner Lance Russell and we are coming to you from the Civic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee for what is being billed as King of the Mountain. Lance Russell: That’s right Jim and tonight the UWF is going to hold their first ever King of the Mountain Battle Royal but this is not like any battle royal we have ever seen. In this one, the ring will actually start with 2 wrestlers and every other minute another wrestler will enter. Whoever is in the ring at the time will use regular Over the Top Rope Battle Royal rules. The last one standing will be crowned the 1986 King of the Mountain and will receive a UWF World Title shot. Jim Ross: That’s not all Lance. We will also have two huge title matches. First, we will see David vs Goliath in the UWF Tag Team Title Match as the Rock n Roll Express faces the Road Warriors and then it will be the big one for the UWF World Title as Jerry Lawler will face Tony Atlas. COMMERCIAL BREAK THE KING OF THE MOUNTAIN MATCH #1 Sam Houston and #2 Dick Slater enter the ring and have at for the first 2 minutes but neither are able to make too much headway. Next into the ring is the United States Champion, #3 Hacksaw Butch Reed who comes in like a house afire. Within seconds Sam Houston is up in a Gorilla Press Slam and tossed all the way to the floor. Reed doesn’t waste any time and goes right after Slater but Slater buys himself a little time with a double eye rake. As the first chord of “Another One Bites the Dust” blares from the speaker, the crowd erupts as they know #4 is JYD. The Dog rushes to the ring and goes right after the wounded Reed. Dog does everything he can but can’t Reed out before the next entrant. Slater seems to be very happy resting during at this time. Next to the ring is (#5) Chief Wahoo McDaniel and for the next 2 minutes, we have Dog vs Reed and Wahoo vs Slater in opposite sides of the ring. Next we hear the loudest boos of the night so far as #6, Ivan Koloff comes down the aisle. Koloff decides to help Slater in his standoff with Wahoo but JYD comes across the ring and helps Wahoo survive this time period. Reed, looking out for himself appeared to be taking a break but saw Wahoo connect with a few tomahawk chops on Slater. Reed comes running across the ring as Slater and Wahoo are up against the ropes. Wham. Double Close Line on Wahoo and Slater and they both tumble over the top rope and out of the King of the Mountain. Just as Reed and Ivan turn towards JYD, we get our next entrant to the match! Business is about to pick up as the 6’9 300 pound (#7) Blackjack Mulligan hits the ring. Big right hand to Reed followed by the Iron Claw on Ivan. JYD comes right after Reed again and we are once again 2-2 on opposite sides of the ring. The crowd erupts as they see the advantage turn to the side of good as #8, Kendell Windham hit the ring. Unfortunately, they can’t take advantage of this as we get 2 minutes of a wild brawl with no eliminations. COMMERCIAL BREAK And here comes Rip Oliver (#9). Oliver goes after Kendell Windham as Blackjack plays the role of the protective father here and attempts to toss Oliver from the ring. Ivan uses this time to lend a helping hand to Butch Reed on JYD. Before we get an elimination, we get the next entrant rushing to the ring! The crowd is a little leary hear as it its Tommy “Wildfire” Rich (#10). He says he is on the side of good but these Tennessee fans have been fooled by him before. Wildfire rushes right over to attack Ivan Koloff as he helps his old friend JYD. The crowd erupts as we get Koloff and Reed vs Wildfire and JYD in one corner. In the other corner, Blackjack and Kendell are able to take care of Rip Oliver. Kendell whipped Oliver into a Big Boot by Blackjack and then scooped him up and deposited him out onto the floor. And here comes the former Olympian, Brad Rheingans (#11) No surprise here as he goes right for the Russian Bear, Ivan Koloff. Koloff hits Wildfire with a low blow as Wildfire crumbles into the corner. Now we get Ivan and Rheingans squaring off as Kendell and Blackjack do their best on Reed but he erupts with a moment of pure rage and power. A short-armed clothesline on Blackjack followed by another Gorilla Press Slam to the floor on Kendall. In the ring we now have Hacksaw Butch Reed, JYD, Ivan Koloff , Blackjack Mulligan, Tommy Rich and Brad Rheingans. And next to the ring is the monster, the Warlord (#12). As he enters we get 2 minutes where everyone seems happy to just beat on whoever is around but we see no eliminations. Down the aisle comes (#13) Buddy Landell and we see him team up with the Warlord. Together they are able to oust Brad Rheingans as we get our first glimpse of the monster’s power as he simple tosses him from the ring. For the most part, the Reed-JYD brawl has continued since the beginning and Rich and Koloff have been doing their best to get each other out. COMMERCIAL BREAK All of a sudden, we get our first shock of the evening. Jim Ross sounds heartbroken here as he can’t belief that another Russian is coming down the aisle. It is not Nikita as the UWF crowd would have expected but it is none other than NWA Star, Boris Zhukov (14). He heads right over to Uncle Ivan and they join forces going after Wildfire. Lucky for Rich, Blackjack was currently on a rest and came over to even that one at 2-2. Wild Bill Irwin (#15), who is accompanied by his manager Ron Wright, is next to the ring. To the horror of this crowd, he heads right over and helps Ivan and Boris on Wildfire and Blackjack. The numbers game here is to much here as Blackjack hits the floor. We also see Reed finally able to get JYD out. We now have a big advantage for the heels as Reed, Ivan, Zhukov, the Warlord, Landell and Irwin zone in on Tommy Rich who is all alone. He is in need of some real help. And help he gets! Here comes Baby Doll leading her Total Package to the ring. Lex Luger (#16) hits the ring at a full sprint and within seconds he has tossed Bill Irwin and Buddy Landell to the floor. This was not enough to save Wildfire as he was tossed out by the Russians. The Warlord, looking a little lost here, stumbles around really not doing much as the fans get their first glimpse of Reed and Luger squaring off. Maybe it was the fact the Reed has been in the ring for almost 25 minutes and Luger was fresh, but Luger was getting the best of this one. The babyfaces get some more help as Captain Redneck, Dick Murdoch (#17) walks down the aisle. This is his type of match as he loves chaos and brawling. He goes right up to the Warlord and starts throwing big haymakers. One eye rake later, Murdoch simply guides the Warlord to the corner and escorts him to the floor. We now get Murdoch going up against the Russians while Luger and Reed continue their brawl on the other side. The crowd is excited as here comes long time fan favorite, Pistol Pez Whatley (#18). As soon as he hits the ring we here a groan from the crowd as he joins Butch Reed in his fight with Lex. Jim Ross is in shock here and hopes that this is just Whatley’s plan to win the King of the Mountain. Murdoch is still holding off the Russians but is in need of help as is Luger. The crowd erupts as Hacksaw Duggan (#19) hits the ring waving an American Flag. Luger catches Whatley with a huge Clothseline and he tumbles over the top rope. Luger scoops up Reed and miraculously locks him in the Torture Rack! While this is going on, it is Murdoch and Duggan doing their best to preserve America’s honor as they battle Ivan and Boris. Here comes another of Ron Wright’s men. (#20) Scott Irwin. He heads right for Luger who drops Reed from the Torture Rack all the way to the floor. Luger then scoops Irwin up and slams him over the top rope and out onto the floor. Ron Wright is beside himself as Scott was eliminated in less the 5 seconds. Wham! Spear by Duggan on Zhukov and he flips over the top rope. COMMERCIAL BREAK We now have Duggan, Murdoch and Luger for the good guys and only Ivan Koloff for the heels. Jim Ross announces #21…. and here comes another member of Devastation Inc. The Barbarian. This powerful, athletic monster takes no time to make his mark. He enters the ring with a top rope diving headbutt on Dick Murdoch. Murdoch stumbles backwards and the Barbarian rushes at him and leaps with another diving headbutt. Murdoch flops over the ropes and out onto the floor. We now have Luger vs Ivan and the Barbarian vs Duggan. And here comes the boy from New York City…. #22 Jimmy Valiant. Valiant comes in with his unorthodox style and is hitting everything in sight. He has entered this match late enough to maybe steal a world title shot and he doesn’t care who he hits which leads to another 2 minutes of chaos here with no eliminations. down the aisle comes #23, the Dirty White Boy and the brawl continues until the next entrant enters. It is DWD vs Valiant, Luger vs Ivan and Duggan vs the Barbarian. Next to the ring is #24 Bob Armstrong. He goes right for the Dirty White Boy. It seems that Ron Wright saying his army is taking aim at the Armstrongs has set him off. A Georgia Jawbreaker followed up by a big right hand by the Boogie Woogie man sends the DWB over the top rope and Ron Wright is furious that his Army has failed. Valiant quickly turns his attention to Armstrong and they go at it. Paul Ellering is leading the next wrestler to the ring. It is #25 The Ultimate Warriors. Two things that are for sure. The Warrior is powerful and he is full of energy. He hits the ring like a bullet and within a few seconds he has connected with two Warrior Smashes and sent Jimmy Valiant and Bob Armstrong to the floor. He now goes right after Ivan Koloff and smashes him to the floor. Luger and the Warrior now eyeball each other. Warrior gives him a huge flex and Luger responds with one of his own. Duggan and the Barbarian are still going at it on the other side. Poor #26, #27 and #28 as Luger and Warrior seem to have joined forces and have come up with an interesting plan. They attack whoever comes down that aisle as soon as they hit the ring and then they dispose of them. That was the fate meet by Masked Avenger (Ed Wisnoski), Porkchop Cash and Brad Armstrong. COMMERCIAL BREAK And the crowd groans, #29…. Dr. Death Steve Williams hits the ring. Duggan hears this and ducks under a clothesline by Warrior and hits him with a spear. Dr. Death dives right through the middle ropes and spears Warrior. This ends Luger and Warriors partnership and we now have the Barbarian and Dr. Death going after Duggan and Luger fighting it out with Warrior. Jim Ross wonders who is #30 and who is going to become the #1 contender for the UWF World Title! And here he comes, the last entrant into the King of the Mountain. It is none other than Nikita Koloff! The crowd moans as the Russian Nightmare hits the ring. In an effort to stop the monster, the Warrior comes off the ropes with a Warrior Smash. Nikita ducks under and hits the ropes himself. Bah Gawd, he nearly broke the Warrior in half with a Russian Sickle. Everyone in the ring stops at the sound and takes a look. This gave Duggan a chance to dispose of the Barbarian. Dr. Death, Hacksaw Duggan, Lex Luger and Nikita Koloff are the final 4! We go a good 5 or 6 minutes without an elimination until the crowd gets exactly what they want. Duggan caught Dr. Death rushing in with a big knee lift and as Dr. Death staggered, Duggan tossed him over the top rope. Luger and Duggan now team up and for the first time since he has arrived in the UWF, Nikita Koloff is taking it on the chin. This goes on for a few minutes when all of a sudden, Ivan and Boris come down to ringside. This seems to distract Lex and Hacksaw for a minute and energize Nikita. Nikita seems impervious to any attack now and he actually no sells a big blow by Duggan and out of nowhere Nikita connects with a short arm clothesline on Hacksaw and he tumbles over the top rope. It is now down to Lex Luger and Nikita Koloff with the title of King of the Mountain on the line. These two monsters hit each other with everything but the Kitchen sink. All of a sudden, the camera catches Boris and Ivan closing in on Baby Doll. Boris grabs her and Ivan starts to scold her. In typical Baby Doll fashion, she doesn’t back down and smacks Ivan across the face. This enrages Ivan who decks her. Luger sees this and heads over to the ropes to protect Baby Doll. This is when the Russian Nightmare comes up from behind and clobbers Luger in the head and over the top rope he goes. Jim Ross: Oh no. Bah Gawd, Nikita Koloff has won the King of the Ring and he will be entitled to a World Title shot but that is not all. Lance Russell: Ivan and Boris are holding Luger as Nikita is coming to finish him off! We need help out here in a hurray! Jim Ross: And here it comes, it is Tommy “Wildfire” Rich with a chair! WHAM…. Chair shot to Boris and he is down. Wham! Chair shot to Ivan and he is down Wham! Chair shot to Nikita who just looks at Rich like he is going to break him in half! Wham! Luger is back up again and nailed Nikita with his own shot! This is where the officials and wrestlers pour out of the locker room and peace is restored. COMMERCIAL BREAK UWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH THE ROCK n ROLL EXPRESS VS THE ROAD WARRIORS These two teams have put on some shows of late and this one is no different. We have speed vs power and it is just a battle of wills to see which one will come on out on top. After a fast start by the Express, the Road Warriors take over and here we go with the normal Ricky Morton playing the face in peril. You feel bad for him as the beating he is getting is colossal. From the punches and body slams to the clotheslines and suplexes, Morton looks like he is going to leave this one on a stretcher. As always, Moron is able to roll out of trouble and here comes Gibson like a house afire! The difference tonight is that Hawk and Animal No Sell Morton’s attack and he soon becomes the new face in peril. A big backbreaker by Animal followed by a tag to Hawk leaves Gibson in dire straits as the Road Warriors are about to hit the Doomsday Device. Gibson is up in the clutches of Animal as Hawk leaps of the top rope. Wham… Diving top rope clothesline and Gibson flips over onto the mat. Hawk goes for the cover. 1… Here comes Morton for the save 2… Wham. Big Shoulder Block by Animal on Morton. 3. Paul Ellering rushes into the ring and the Road Warriors celebrate their regaining of the UWF World Title. Jim Ross also reminds us that with the Ultimate Warrior, they are also the World 66 Man Champions. In a great display of sportsmanship, a battered Rock n Roll Express congratulate Animal and Hawk. Lance Russell is sure if these two teams wrestled 100 times, they would each win 50 and he can’t wait for the next one. COMMERCIAL BREAK UWF WORLD TITLE MATCH JERRY “THE KING” LAWLER VS “MR. USA” TONY ATLAS Atlas gets a nice ovation on his way to the ring but this is Lawler territory and the roof nearly blows off the Civic Center when he the King comes out. As for the match, we see some mutual respect here and we start off with a handshake. The first 5 or 6 minutes is kind of a feeling out process with some headlocks and leg scissors. It is after this that business picks up as Atlas overpowers Lawler and pushes him back to the corner. So far, we had all clean breaks but not here. A big forearm from Atlas and the King is reeling. From here on out, the brawl is on. At one point, Atlas begins to pound on the back of the King and then whips him off the ropes and catches him in a back breaking Bearhug. It looks like Lawler is about to lose the title but somehow we get the break. Lawler recovers and now it is his time to shine. There are few people in the industry who can throw the punches like Lawler and he is on fire here. The King pulls the strap down and has Atlas in some big troube. Atlas hits the mat and the King climbs to the middle rope. Wham! Lawler connects with the fist drop and looks to be on the verge of a victory. He picks Atlas up by the head and looks to be going for the piledriver. Jim Ross: Aww Bah Gawd no. Watch out King. Hacksaw Butch Reed, Ernie Ladd and Pez Whatley hit the ring! The ref calls for the bell but that isn’t going to stop Lawler from getting the beating of his life. Lawler gets it pretty good before the Calvary of Jimmy Valiant, Tommy Rich, JYD and Wahoo McDaniel hit the ring and chase the goons away. Unfortunately, it might be too late as the show ends with Lawler barely able to walk out. Lance Russell: So long from Knoxville.
