8/3/1985: WTVT 9:05-10:05 SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA UWF UNIFIED WORLD CHAMPION: AUSTIN IDOL NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION: TED DIBIASE UWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE ROAD WARRIOIRS UWF WORLD 6 MAN CHAMPIONS: THE TENNESSEE STUD STABLE (TOMMY RICH, EDDIE GILBERT & JOHN STUD) UWF WORLD TV CHAMPION: ICEMAN PARSONS SHORT VERSION DUE AS I DON’T WANT TO HOLD GENE UP WITH BEACH BRAWL! Hello again everybody. Welcome to Power Pro Wrestling; a UWF & Mid-South Wrestling production from Shreveport, Louisiana and the McNeils Boys Club. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. Let’s get right to some video tape from last Thursday in Houston, Texas in a match with Ted Dibiase and Steve “Dr. Death Williams squared off against The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes and Hacksaw Jim Duggan. ANGLE #1: DIBIASE AND DR. DEATH VS DUSTY AND HACKSAW DUGGAN We see a video from their tag match in New Orleans that was a Coal Miners Glove on a Pole Match. In the end, there seemed to be some confusion between Dibiase and Williams. As Dr. Death went for a big football tackle, Dusty got out of the way at the last second and Williams actually speared Dibiase. This allowed Dusty to get the Coal Miner’s Glove. Dr. Death was checking on Dibiase which allowed The American Dream to clock both Dr. Death and Dibiase. Dusty got the three count just in time as the rest of the Rat Pack rushed to the ring. It was here that Duggan assisted the Dream as he retrieved his 2 x 4 from ringside and whacked the other two stoogies. In a rarity lately, the crowd at a UWF event goes home happy as the baby faces were victorious. After the video, the Rat Pack is at the interview desk and Jim Ross is pushing to see if there is any dissention between the members of the Rat Pack and to a man, they deny it. We are also informed that this week in New Orleans there will be a #1 contender’s match for Dibiase’s North American Title and it will be between the American Dream vs Steve Williams in a Lumberjack Match. Williams and Dibiase both seem happy with this idea. Viewers wonder if they are happy for the same reason. Dibiase is happy as he thinks Dr. Death could beat Rhodes and then give there would be no match as Williams would not turn on the leader. Dr. Death may be happy as he sees a title in his future. Later in the show, The American Dream wins the main event against Rat Pack member Eric Embry. Just after the Bionic Elbow the rest of the Rat Pack came out to ringside. Dibiase seemed to take charge and ordered Nature Boy Buddy Landell into the ring and Rhodes quickly disposed of his with a Bionic Elbow. Dibiase now ordered Dr. Death into the ring but Williams seemed to have problems taking orders from Dibiase. By the time the Rat Pack reorganized, Hacksaw Duggan had joined Rhodes with the 2 x 4 and the Rat Pack ended the show looking too afraid to get in the ring. ANGLE #2: THE ROAD WARRIORS VS THE FACES OF FEAR We see a quick video of the match from New Orleans between Pau Ellering and Skandar Akbar where Ellering seemed to be in control until Akbar grabbed him by the tights and shoved him into the referee. The ref went down hard and this was all that was needed to ignite a firestorm. The Road Warriors and the Faces of Fear both hit the ring and the brawl was on. When the ref finally got to his feet, he called for the bell and ruled the match a no contest. It took the entire locker room to get these monsters apart. In the end, it did not matter. As long as Akbar wrestled Ellering, his men would receive a UWF World Tag Team Title match in Houston. Both teams won squash matches during the show and hyped up the clash between these 4 brutes. ANGLE #3: NEW ANGLE: HACKSAW REED IS DISGRUNTLED This all starts after a great UWF World TV Title Match between Iceman Parsons and the Dingo Warrior with Skandar Akbar. The match went almost to the time limit and with the help of Akbar, Dingo had a few chances at winning the title. In the end, Iceman ducked under a Warrior Smash and connected with a Big Butt Bump. At the interview desk, Iceman is very grateful to the fans and yada yada yada when all of a sudden Hacksaw Reed comes out. Iceman is ready for a fight but Reed tells Iceman that he has no problem with him and to relax. Hacksaw Reed is irate and lets Akbar have it. He is furious that all of the other members of his stable are getting title shot after title shot while he just sits on the sidelines. He goes through the Faces of Fear getting title shots against the Road Warriors and even Dingo getting a shot against Iceman. Akbar comes out and tries to come down Hacksaw but that is to no avail. Dingo, who tires of being bad mouthed, comes out and confronts Reed. Big mistake…… WHAM! A forearm smash by Reed followed by a Gorilla Press Slam on the arena floor. Dingo is in a bad way and Reed simply tells Akbar that if Dingo is still in Devastation Inc. in one week, he walks! IN OTHER ACTION Chris Benoit and The Cuban Assassin win their singles matches against jobbers. This week’s big card in Houston includes: #1 CONTENDERS MATCH FOR THE NORTH AMERICAN TITLE Steve “Dr. Death” Williams vs Dusty Rhodes (Lumberjack Match) UWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH Road Warriors vs Faces of Fear Jim Ross: So long from Shreveport!

8/3/1985: WTVT MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE “Yello again everybody. Welcome to The Main Event a USWA and UWF promotion coming to you from Memphis Tennessee. I am Lance Russell along with the young Jeff Jarrett. Well before we get to the ring, let’s take a look at a video from the Tennessee State Fairgrounds Thursday where it was Jerry Lawler vs his cousin Honky Tonk Man. If Lawler won the match, he would receive a UWF World Title Shot vs Austin Idol! SHORT SUMMARY VERSION TO MAKE SURE I POST ON TIME SO AS NOT TO KEEP GENE AND BEACH BRAWL WAITING. -We see a quick video where Lawler and HTM are fighting it out in the center of the ring. Lawler gets the best of this exchange and then hits a big bodyslam. He drops the shoulder strap down and heads to the ropes where he connects with a middle rope fist drop for the win. On the way to the locker room, a tired and beaten up Lawler is attacked by Austin Idol with Freddie Blassie and his cane. This was all an attempt to make sure Lawler didn’t make it to Beach Brawl. Unfortunately for Lawler, he doesn’t have many friends right now and the attack went on for some time. After the video, we see Lawler, with a few bumps and bruises on his face, give a great interview about how it didn’t matter what Idol did; what Blassie did; what the HTM did or what the Stud Stable did. Tomorrow night in Miami, he was going to WIN the World title. He goes on to say why would an old geezer like Blassie come out with a cane and hit the King over the head. It is because he is afraid. He knows Idol has no shot and that he better have another plan if he ever wants to see that World Title again. ANGLE #2: The $25,000 bounty on JYD -We see two newcomers in black masks who call themselves The Midnight Cowboys win a squash match against two jobbers. -After the match, they come to the interview desk where they are asked to watch a short clip from last week’s card in Nashville and the match between JYD and Dick Murdoch against the Freebirds. -The match was going hot and heavy and all of a sudden these Midnight Cowboys hit the ring with chairs and went right after JYD. Murdoch tried his best to save his buddy but just got a chair shot for his good deed. The Freebirds and the Cowboys really went to town on JYD who had to be carried from the arena on a stretcher. -After the video, the Cowboys demand that they receive ½ of the bounty for taking out JYD and that they want their money NOW! -Lance Russell lets the Cowboys know that he has a letter from someone calling himself John and John says that he really doubts that a few shots from a chair will put JYD out of wrestling and that the Midnight Cowboys will have to wait for their money to make sure JYD is gone for good. -The Midnight Cowboys are confident that their work is done when all of a sudden the crowd explodes as a chain swinging JYD and a tapped fist Dick Murdoch hit the interview area. The Cowboys run for cover and JYD grabs the microphone demanding to know who has put this bounty on his head. Who is the John character and why doesn’t he have the guts to show his face. ANGLE #3: Are the Midnight Express or the Kiwi Sheepherders the #1 Contenders to the U.S. National Tag Titles held by Ronnie Garvin and Terry Taylor. -After a squash match that saw the Midnight Express come out top against Don Taylor and Frank Dalton, Jim Cornette is magic on the microphone. He is ranting and raving about how great his team is and how easily they defeated the Kiwi Sheepherders in Nashville. Jim Ross reminds him how much easier things are after you hit your opponents over the head with a tennis racket and that it is not over yet as this is a best 2-3 series and that the next match will take place this week in the Mid-South Coliseum. ANGLE #4: U.S. NATIONAL TITLE: JIMMY GARVIN VS TERRY GORDY -Terry Gordy wins the main event match over the Cuban Assassin with a powerbomb. -At the interview desk, they show a video from last week’s TV show in the match between Garvin and Gordy. We see Garvin laying in the corner with a neck brace on as Precious comes in but is caught by Gordy. Gordy puts Precious over his knee and gives her a pretty good spanking. All of a sudden, Garvin who must have been faking the injury, rips off the neck brace and goes wild on Bam Bam. -Lance asks Gordy about how he felt after he hit a women. Gordy quickly changed Lance’s words to spank a women and says it did two things. “First of all, my mommy always spanked him when he did something wrong. Gordy says his momma believed you had to smack the bad outta people.” Gordy says he was also tired of Jimmy Garvin ducking him as he reminds everyone that Ed Marlin had to force him into the ring last week or take his title from him. He says there is one way to make a man fight and that is to mess with his women. -All of a sudden Jimmy Garvin and Precious come out as it looks like for the first time Garvin is looking to fight and not run. Gordy is ready and the two square off. All of a sudden, Ed Marlin comes out and demands they stop or else he will strip Garvin of the belt and that Gordy will never get another title shot. Marlin goes on to say that this rivalry has crossed the line and that it must be solved once and for all. He announces that this Thursday in Nashville it will be the last match between Garvin and Gordy and that it will be 2-3 Falls for the U.S. Heavyweight Title and that since you two love to break the rules, THERE WILL BE NO RULES! Just before Marlin walks off to end the show, he turns and says…… Oh sorry, one rule…. Precious is band from the building. As the screen fades to black we see an irate Jimmy Garvin. -Also on the show tonight, we saw -Another dominate performance by Vlad the Russian Hammer. Lance is really wondering if he can be stopped. -Wins by Chris Benoit as he used the ropes for a slingshot suplex and a win by Pez Whatley with a Flying Willie (Headbutt) Lance Russell: So long from Memphis and don’t forget to join Beach Brawl tomorrow night in Miami as the King goes for the UWF Title against Austin Idol and so much more. We will also be in Memphis and the Mid-South Coliseum this Thursday. #1 CONTENDERS MATCH FOR THE UWF U.S. NATIONAL TAG TITLES The Midnight Express with Jim Cornette vs The Kiwi Sheepherders LAST CHANCE U.S. HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH Jimmy Garvin vs Terry Gordy: 2/3 Falls with Precious banned from ringside

I must say that it is great working with you as we seem to build off of each other. Beach Brawl is turning out to be the card of the year and I am really looking forward to it. I find the Kevin VonErich-Bigelow feud coming up to be something to keep the Texas fans on the edge of their seats. -
7/27/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA UWF UNIFIED WORLD CHAMPION: AUSTIN IDOL NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION: TED DIBIASE UWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE ROAD WARRIOIRS UWF WORLD 6 MAN CHAMPIONS: THE TENNESSEE STUD STABLE (TOMMY RICH, EDDIE GILBERT & JOHN STUD) UWF WORLD TV CHAMPION: ICEMAN PARSONS SHORT VERSION DUE TO ME BEING AN IDIOT AND NOT SAVING MY WORK! DEATH VS DUSTY AND HACKSAW DUGGAN We see a video from their tag match in Houston where Dibiase and Dr. Death win after Dr. Death connected with an Oklahoma Stampede on Rhodes and then tagged in Dibiase. Williams went right in the face of Duggan and Hacksaw charged the ring. This distracted the ref enough to allow for Dibiase to load up that black glove of his and clock the American Dream. Dusty was out cold but Dibiase locked in the Figure 4. The ref came over and saw Rhodes was out and thought he passed out from the pain and called for the bell. After the video, the Rat Pack is at the interview desk gloating about the win. Ross is sick to his stomach at the tactics used. Dibiase plays dumb and has no idea what he is talking about. Cowboy Bill Watts comes out and is also tired of the Rat Pack’s tactics and calls for a rematch this week in New Orleans. He also bans the rest of the Rat Pack from ringside and if they do interfere, they will be suspended. Watts lets Dibiase know that this will be a Coal Miners Glove on a Pole Match where the glove will be suspended 10 feet above one of the corners on a pole and the first team to capture the glove, can use it. Dibiase seems confident as he knows Rhodes is too fat to climb a pole and Hacksaw is too dumb to know how! Later in the Main Event we see Dusty Rhodes against Bobby Jaggers. During the match both Dibiase and Williams come out to the ring and everybody is expecting they jump Rhodes. Hacksaw Duggan is thinking the same thing and comes out to protect his partner. Of course he is carrying his trusty 2x4. Rhodes wins the bout after he follows up a Bionic Elbow with a Piledriver. Hacksaw Duggan jumps into the ring and together, he and the Dream dare the Rat Pack to enter the ring. Maybe because of the 2x4 or maybe because the sides are even for once, the Rat Pack saunters back to the locker room as Jim Ross signs off. ANGLE #2: THE ROAD WARRIORS VS THE FACES OF FEAR We see a quick video of their bout from Houston which ended in a Double DQ as Skandar Akbar and Paul Ellering got involved. Akbar actually entered the ring first and Ellering came in to stop him. After the video, Akbar and his men are at the interview desk where Akbar is claiming the Road Warriors keep getting DQ’ed on purpose. Jim Ross tells Akbar that he must be forgetting that he entered the ring first. Akbar tells him to shut up and demands a rematch with the Road Warriors for the UWF Tag Team Title! Later in the show, the Road Warriors win a squash match with the Doomsday Device and at the interview desk Paul Ellering says that he is getting sick and tired of Akbar and his copy cats. He claims they just want to be like the Road Warriors because they know they can’t beat them. Ellering says the Road Warriors will give the Faces of Fear a title shot in 2 weeks if Akbar agrees to wrestle Ellering this week in New Orleans. Later in the show, after his man the Dingo Warrior completely dominated Scooter Rigsbee, Akbar accepted Ellering’s challenge. ANGLE #3: HACKSAW BUTCH REED VS JIMMY SNUKA After Jimmy Snuka wins a pretty good bout with Master G with the Superfly Death Leap, he heads to the interview desk where he is white hot about last week’s comments by Hacksaw Butch Reed about Snuka being a tree climbing coconut picker. You can tell by his tone that this feud still has legs. In other action, Chris Benoit, the Cuban Assassin and the Rat Pack (Eric Embry and Buddy Landell) all came out on top. This week’s big card in New Orleans includes: Dibiase & Dr. Death vs Rhodes & Duggan in a Coal Miner’s Glove on a Pole Match Paul Ellering vs Skandar Akbar Hacksaw Butch Reed vs Jimmy Snuka

Big news coming out of the UWF central offices: -The UWF is really excited to announce that they have added Central States Wrestling to its growing list of territories and hopes this will add to its fan base in middle America. El Dragon, good Luck and welcome to the game. -The UWF would also like to announce that it has struck a deal with the Tennessee State Fair to host a 4 night extravaganza Nashville that coincided with this years State Fair in September. The UWF is going to share the stage with some of country musics biggest stars in an event titled CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK. The format is going to be: DAY 1 and 2: MUSIC CITY BOWL A 16 man tournament and an 8 team tag tournament that will include wrestlers from all 4 UWF territories. The final two singles and tag teams will move forward and compete in the next round for the Music City Belt. DAY 3 & 4: BATTLE FOR THE BELTS Each title except for the World Titles will be defended with the winners moving on DAY 5 and 6: CLASH OF CHAMPIONS A singles tournament and tag tournament for anyone who has a UWF title except the World Champions DAY 7: The winners from the Clash of Champions will face the World Champions. The Tennessee State Fair is hoping this will become a yearly event that will, along with country music, give the fair another big draw.
-
Some huge battles coming up as the WWF keeps on rolling. Windham vs Savage Demolition vs the Duo Hogan vs Nikita The Barber vs Valentine Love them all but if I had to chose one I think it would be the tag match as it is the most unpredictable.
-
I will agree that Lawler and the RnR Express don't fit the freelancer model and should find a home.

I kind of enjoy the system we have now. It gives our shows a little boost when we want it.

7/27/1985: WTVT 8:00-9:00 MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE “Yello again everybody. Welcome to The Main Event a USWA and UWF promotion coming to you from Memphis Tennessee. I am Lance Russell along with the young Jeff Jarrett. Well before we get to the ring, let’s take a look at a video from the Mid-South Coliseum last Thursday where it was Jerry Lawler and his cousin Honky Tonk Man vs Eddie Gilbert and Tommy Rich for the UWF Southern Tag Team Titles. We see a quick video of Honky Tonk Man and Jerry Lawler crackin skulls in the ring during a period of chaos. All 4 men are in the ring until HTM tosses Gilbert through the ropes. Lawler, with the strap pulled down, comes off the middle rope with a nasty fist drop. He scoops up Wildfire and connects with a big piledriver. Rich is out of it and it looks like new champs for sure. Lawler goes to high five HTM who is still in the ring but instead, HTM grabs Lawler by the arm and wraps him up…… WHAM! HTM nails Lawler with a giant reverse neckbreaker and then drags Rich on top of Lawler for the 3 count! When the video is over, we see HTM with the Southern Tag Team Champions (who are also 2/3 of the UWF 6 Man Champions with John Stud.) Lance Russell: Ok you guys, what in the Sam Hill was that? I mean come on Honky Tonk Man. Tommy Rich: All I can say Lance is that Jerry Lawler is one stupid fool for someone who is supposed to be king. I mean we were all just out here two weeks ago telling Lawler he aint got no friends. I mean he has crossed everyone in the business. HTM: That’s right Wildfire. Lawler and I may be blood but that didn’t stop him from turning on me in the ring 5 years ago. He thinks he can do whatever he wants and that he is this popular rock star around here. Well Lawler, actions speak louder than words. You may say the right things but you never think the rules apply to you. Hotstuff and Wildfire are more family then you will ever be. Eddie Gilbert: Last week, my father had the joy of crackin your skull with a chain. This week, your own family tried to break your neck. Who will it be next? You better have eyes in the back of your head. You think you are going to have gold around your waist? The only gold you are going to have is that store bought crown you wear around your spoiled head. Lance Russell: Well I have heard about enough of this. Family turning against family. Let’s get to the ring before I become sick MATCH: SWEET BROWN SUGAR VS LARRY CHEATEM A nice return to Memphis for the fan favorite here as Sweet Brown Sugar shows his athleticism and willingness to duke it out in the middle of the ring when thing turned nasty. The finish came when Sugar connected with a series of Lightening Dropkicks. ----------COMMERCIAL BREAK--------- MATCH JYD VS ROCKET MONROE JYD plays nice until Monroe uses some questionable tactics on a break in the corner. This really got the Dog going and he finished off Monroe with a Big Thump! Just as the ref made the 3 count we get the Fabulous Freebirds (Hayes & Roberts) rushing out as they attack the Dog. Dog tries his best but the Freebirds are just too much. We hear Lance Russell saying this must be the Freebirds attempt at collecting that $25,000 bounty that someone put on the Dog. Jeff Jarrett is furious as you can tell JYD is one of his favorites. Lance Russell: Well what in the Sam Hill is this? The Dog could be in real trouble now. It is none other than Captain Redneck, Dick Murdoch rushing to the ring. We all know the rocky relationship these two have had down in Mid-South. To the surprise and shock of all, Murdoch does not try to collect the bounty but instead starts throwing haymakers at the Freebirds. Dog recovers quickly and he and Murdoch soon control the ring as the Freebirds beat a hasty retreat. It is exactly what you get when you combine JYD and Murdoch. JYD and Murdoch look cautiously at each other and Murdoch extends a hand. JYD, slowly at first but then enthusiastically shakes it. The two head to the interview desk where Murdoch takes the lead. Dick Murdoch: I know the Dog and I have had some battles but we have also been teammates. We were 3 times Mid-South Tag Team Champions and we are like family. Families don’t always get along but when someone is after family, you protect your own. When I heard that some low life rotten scoundrel went and put a bounty of JYD to try and put him out of Wrastlin, I just had to come up here and watch his back. JYD thanks Murdoch but says anyone that wants to come out and go after the Dog is going to have to pay the price and the Freebirds are going to have to pay big time. He asks Murdoch to be his partner this week in Nashville as they go get some revenge. Murdoch accepts and Lance Russell hypes up this challenge match for all the fans in the Nashville area. ----------COMMERCIAL BREAK--------- MATCH MIDNIGHT EXPRESS with JIM CORNETTE VS DAVE & TYLER OWENS The best part of this match, was the introduction by Jim Cornette. The end came when Beautiful Bobby followed up Condrey’s suplex with an Alabama Jammer. At the interview desk, Cornette is all business and is demanding a title shot against Ronnie Garvin and Terry Taylor for the UWF U.S. Tag Titles. This brings out Jonathan Boyd and Rip Morgan who claim that they are the #1 contenders for the titles. It is interesting to watch two heel teams go face to face and you can almost feel the crowd hope that they beat the crap out of each other as they settle their dispute. Cooler heads prevail as we get Jerry Jarrett coming out telling the two teams that they will have a Best of 3 Series to find out who the # contender is and that it will begin this Thursday in Nashville. The two teams seem satisfied with the solution and walk off! MATCH VLAD THE RUSSIAN HAMMER VS AL COSTELLO Lance and Jeff barely have a chance to review the beating Vlad gave Spike Huber in the Mid-South Coliseum last Thursday before this one is over. The 6’8, 300 pounder just continued to run over every USWA wrestler. The end came with that devastating double fisted sledgehammer to the chest and neck area that caused Costello to completely flip in mid-air and land on his head. Vlad, in broken English, spends a minute at the interview desk where he dares any American to step up to him. ----------COMMERCIAL BREAK---------- When we come out of break, we see a dejected Jerry Lawler at the interview desk. It takes him a minute or two to really get going but when he does, he is demanding to get his cousin HTM in the ring and that he is going to take this boy out to the woodshed if you know what I mean. All of a sudden, Austin Idol comes out with Freddie Blassie and he laughing it up. Austin Idol: We told you Lawler. We told you. You aint got no friends in the business. You can take out HTM if you like but we got a long line of others ready for you. How about this, you beat HTM this week and survive whatever other surprises we have instore for you and I will give you another title shot. Maybe even at Beach Brawl in Miami! Jerry Lawler: HTM has no chance in Nashville and even his own mother knows that. You just signed your own death notice Idol. I can’t wait to feel the sand beneath my toes and the gold around my waist! Lance Russell is glad this little interview segment did not end in violence and takes us to the ring where we see two more of Lawler’s biggest headaches. MATCH: UWF SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH TENNESSEE STUD STABLE (Rich & Gilbert) VS THE SAMOAN CONNECTION (Farmer Boy Ipo & LeRoy Brown) A great bout here as the Studs had trouble dealing with the Samoans size and hard heads. Ipo and Brown seemed on their way to the title by using their hard heads as battering rams. But the end came when Wildfire distracted the ref as Tommy Gilbert came down to ringside and slipped hi son a chain which he wrapped around his fist and laid Brown out! The ref, not knowing any better, made the three count as Lance Russell and Jeff Jarrett tried to plead the case of the Samoans from the interview desk! When the match was over and the Stud’s were at the interview desk hoopin and hollerin, Jerry Jarrett came out and said that he is sick and tired of their tactics and that he has a surprise for them. Jerry Jarrett: This week in Nashville. You boys will be putting your titles on the line in Nashville. If there is any help from the outside, you boys will lose your title! If you use an illegal weapon, you will lose your titles! Gilbert and Rich seem a little less smug and demand to know who their opponents will be. Jarrett says it is always better to see then to hear. He asks them to look at the video screen where we see Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson. When Rich and Gilbert find out it is the Rock n Roll Express the go completely bonkers and demand that Jarrett change this but he is obviously quite proud of himself and hoped the Stud Stable’s days are numbered. ----------COMMERCIAL BREAK---------- When we come out of break, we hear Lance hyping up tonight’s Main Event which will be for the USWA Title as Jimmy Garvin defends against Terry Gordy. Lance explains that Gordy came within seconds of winning the title last week in Memphis as he connected with a piledriver and had the champ down but at 2 ¾, the bell rang as time expired. All of a sudden Jimmy Garvin and Precious come to the table and we see Garvin in a neckbrace. He is saying that he can’t wrestle tonight as he is injured due to the ILLEGAL PILEDRIVER that Terry Gordy used. Lance explains that the move is dangerous but it is not illegal here in the USWA and that he better get in the ring. Eddie Marlin, the head of the USWA Board of Directors comes out and simply gives Garvin 2 choices. He can either get in the ring now or be stripped of his title. With this ultimatum, Garvin heads to the ring. MAIN EVENT U.S. HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP JIMMY GARVIN with PRECIOUS VS TERRY “BAM BAM” GORDY Garvin plays the wounded animal and ties his best to beg for Gordy to leave him alone. Gordy finally gets his hands on the champ and the beating is on. Precious wastes no time and heads right to the ring. She tries to sneak up on Gordy and is ready for the loaded purse shot. Gordy turns around just in time and catches her hands. He rips the purse from her grip and throws the purse to the arena floor. Garvin is down and just watches as Gordy grabs his valet. The crowd is urging him to hit her! Gordy is obviously thinking. On one hand, he knows the jezebel deserves it and on the other hand, he knows he can’t just wind up and hit a women! It is like a lightbulb goes off in his head. He picks her up and put her over his knee and begins to spank her! Lance Russell and Jeff Jarrett are loving every moment of this but the camera catches Jimmy Garvin as he rips off his neck brace and rushes outside the ring to grab a chair. WHAM! Just as TV time expires, Garvin clocks Gordy with the chair. Lance Russell: Wow, you can’t put anything past Garvin and Precious. From the fake injury, to the loaded purse to the chair shot. This duo is a force to be reckon with but trust you me, when Gordy gets up, they better be gone. So long from Memphis and don’t forget to join us this Thursday in Nashville. Matches include: JERRY LAWLER VS HONKY TONK MAN: (If Lawler wins, he gets another shot at Auston Idol and the UWF Title) JYD & DICK MURDOCH VS THE FABULOUS FREEBIRDS UWF SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLE MACTH The Tennessee Stud Stable vs the Rock n Roll Express #1 CONTENDERS MATCH FOR THE UWF U.S. NATIONAL TAG TITLES The Midnight Express with Jim Cornette vs The Kiwi Sheepherders VLAD THE RUSSIAN HAMMER VS LANNY POFFO

I do think the 20 year old Michaels would be best to keep shaking Martel's hand or he may get truly hurt.
-
I love the Sports Shop opening here. Also like seeing Tamba getting some hype! He could be a huge star. This has a great Caribbean feel!
-
The Bash is off and running! Nice to see the women and midgets getting some time. Flair and Funk really seem to be struggling in the tag team action here. Wonder if it will carry over to the singles. TA is off to a good start and Piper could really push Flair. Nice to see the freelancers getting time also. They are all huge stars and need to be showcased!

I actually can't take credit for my jobber names. I went back a decade or two on wrestlingdata.com and found jobbers from Memphis and the Mid-South.

Welcome to Power Pro Wrestling; a UWF & Mid-South Wrestling production from Shreveport, Louisiana and the McNeils Boys Club. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. Let’s get right to some video tape from last Thursday in the Lake Front Arena in New Orleans We see a video of how Steve Williams hit the ring during Ted Dibiase’s North American Title defense and hit special referee, Dusty Rhodes with a chair causing the dq but protecting Dibiase’s title. When the video ends, we see Dusty Rhodes and Hacksaw Duggan at the interview desk where they are fuming mad. Jim Ross lets the fans know that Hacksaw and Dusty will have a chance at revenge this week in Houston as they get Dibiase and Williams in a Texas Street Fight. Dusty and Hacksaw guarantee to get even with the Rat Pack and announce that it they cannot wait until Thursday. Cowboy Bill Watts comes out and basically calls the Rat Pack a disgrace and that he agrees with Duggan and Watts that they should not have to wait until Thursday. He announces tonight’s main event as Rhodes and Hacksaw vs Eric Embry and Buddy Landell. The crowd pops and the entire Rat Pack rush out and complains. Watts reminds them who writes the checks and that if they are not careful, they may find themselves fined and suspended for their actions in New Orleans. He also tells Dibiase to watch how he controls his band of hooligans or else he may find himself defending that North American Title tonight! Dibiase seems to pipe down as he would rather throw Embry and Landell to the wolves then defend his title. We also saw a bit of a reaction from Dr. Death who was taken back when Watts called Dibiase the leader of the Rat Pack! Ross hypes up this main event but before Ernie Ladd sends us to the ring for our first match, he gives Watts some pretty big criticism for forcing the Rat Pack into the ring tonight. MATCH #1 UWF WORLD TV TITLE MATCH ICEMAN KING PARSONS VS THE CUBAN ASSASSIN The TV and studio audience are in this from the get go. From the heat of the Cuban Assassin waving his flag to the energy of “We Are Family” and a dancing Iceman, the crowd is on pins and needles. We get the Cuban Assassin attacking before the bell and this controls the first 3 minutes of the match. Brett Wayne Sawyer comes out to the interview desk and cheers on Iceman. Ross reminds us all that the Cuban Assassin attacked Sawyer last week. As the Cuban seems to distract the Assassin. This was all Iceman needed as he made a nice come back and finished him off with a Big Butt Bump. Sawyer congratulates Iceman as they seem to have a bond forming. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: THE FABULOUS FREEBIRDS (MICHAEL HAYES & BUDDY ROBERTS) VS TIM ANDERSON & FRANK DALTON A complete squash match where the Freebirds shock everyone with their aggression. They come out and seem to have no care in the world for the rules. They use some questionable double-teaming techniques and do their best to hid their dirty play from the referee. The end comes in about 4 minutes with the only legal move we seemed to have seen, a Running Bulldog by Hayes. Jim Ross, who is disgusted by all of this, explains to fans that this heel turn seemed to begin in Nashville where they turned on the Fabulous Ones. At the interview desk after the match, the Freebirds seem quite satisfied with their actions. Michael Hayes: The Freebirds have been the dominate team in this industry for a long time but we lost our path. We started to listen to people like Hacksaw Duggan and Dusty Rhodes and our title shots dried up. They told us to care about these stupid fans in TV land and where did that get us? NOWHERE! The Freebirds are about crackin heads and taken names. We are the ones breaking chairs over someone’s skull; not the ones breakin up fights. Buddy and I are bringing this team back to the top! Back to the days where we blinded JYD, back to the days when we left Dusty Rhodes lying flat on his back in the ring. And yes, back to last week where left Steve Kerin and Stan Lane nearly blind in the ring. Jim Ross: Speaking of the Fabulous Ones they have a message for you. We have a quick video tape from the Fabulous Ones where we see Steve Keirn with a bandage around one of his eyes. Baby Doll does most of the speaking and says that they will be down to Louisiana real soon and she guarantees the Fab Ones will walk down Badstreet and when they get to that last house on the block, the Freebirds better not be home. When the video ends, Hayes is laughing and says that he likes a big feisty blonde! MATCH: CHRIS BENOIT VS RANDY MILLER Benoit stays on his latest roll here. He is very technically sound and seemed to enjoy mixing it up also when Miller went for the dirty stuff. In the end, Benoit wins with a nice high Vertical Suplex. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- M ATCH: THE ROAD WARRIORS with Paul Ellering VS PAT HUTCHINSON & VERLON BIGGS A quick and brutal win by the Road Warriors with the finish coming with a Doomsday Device. Just as the three count is finished, Skandar Akbar and the Faces of Fear come to the interview desk where Akbar is yelling across the studio at the Road Warriors for hiding behind their belts and wrestling losers like Hutchinson and Briggs instead of being real men and putting their titles on the line against the best team in the UWF, Haku and Konga The Barbarian. Paul Ellering and the Road Warriors strut right over to the interview desk where they get right in the face of Akbar’s men. There is no backing down here from either team and the locker room feels the tension and rushes out to separate these men before it blows up. NO CHANCE! The entire locker room couldn’t stop these 4 on their best day and we get chaos! The only thing that restores order is a commercial break. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- Before our next match, we are informed by Cowboy Bill Watts that the only way to keep the peace around here is to put the Road Warriors and the Faces of Fear in the ring together and that is going to happen this week in Houston with the UWF World Tag Title on the line! Skandar Akbar and his man, Hacksaw Butch Reed stop at the interview desk before their match. They are all business and hype up the mission to force Superfly Snuka out of the UWF. Jim Ross doesn’t understand and reminds us the Snuka was a part of this organization just a short time ago. This sets Akbar off as he says Snuka was all about himself and not the family! Hacksaw gets on the mic and goes over how he and Snuka had a battle last week in New Orleans and that neither man seemed to come out on top. Hacksaw Reed: Well listen up Jungle Boy. This is not a battle, this is a WAR! A War, I will win. I am the man here and you are just a jungle boy used to climbing trees picking coconuts! Houston will be your last hoorah! MATCH HACKSAW BUTCH REED with SKANDAR AKBAR VS KENNY SHANE WOW! Poor Kenny Shane as he was just beaten from pillar to post. The end came when Reed followed up a Gorilla Press Slam with a nasty football tackle. MAIN EVENT DUSTY RHODES & HACKSAW DUGGAN VS THE RAT PACK (ERIC EMBRY & NATURE BOY BUDDY LANDELL) The baby faces were ready the Rat Pack as the heels tried a Pear Harbor Attack but were beaten back. Rhodes and Duggan had them right were they wanted them until Dibiase and Dr. Death hit the ring. Dibiase and the rest of the Rat Pack went right after Rhodes and it looked for a second that Duggan was going to abandon him as he jumped down off the apron. Instead, it seemed like Duggan had stored 2 x 4’s under the ring. He comes in swinging at the Rat Pack abandon. As the show comes to an end, we the baby faces in the ring and the Rat Pacl trying to figure out a way that there 4 on 2 advantage won’t result in a 2 x 4 across the head. Jim Ross: So long from Shreveport! Don’t forget to join us in Houston this week. Matches included: Hacksaw Butch Reed with Skandar Akbar vs Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka UWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH Road Warriors vs The Faces of Fear with Skandar Akbar Ted Dibiase & Dr. Death vs Hacksaw Jim Duggan & Dusty Rhodes ___________________________________________________

Bruno coming in will be very interesting...... The moral compass of Bruno vs his spoiled brat sun..... What is a father to do? All the feuds are going strong and are progressing nicely with that Southern feel. Heel turns, run ins, masked men trying to unmask other masked men, familys fighting for their name..... Just so well done. -
