Great tournament again! I thought I had this one right as I picked Eddie Gilbert to win it all but Bam Bam is a great choice. Can't wait for the next show. -
Would be great!

World Class Championship Wrestling: Sept-Oct 1985
kevinmcfl replied to GeneJackson95's topic in Promotions
World Class is in good hands! Love your style. I must admit that I picked everything wrong. I had Kevin Von Erich, and the Freebirds coming out with the titles. The UWF will have a big surprise when Dusty returns from WCCW! There are consequences even for the American Dream when he crosses the line to the evil Fritz empire. -
Sorry worded it wrong. I agree. 6 Is fine. I just mean that when the draft comes along and if we are still at 6, free agency will have more choices so I think Gene should have DJ now
-
I would have no problem with you using him now. To be honest, I have some fears that we are down to 6 people left in the game which means that there could be up to almost 200 people in the draft and with it being only 3 rounds.... I am unsure if DJ Peterson would be in the top 18.

Tag team division is rolling. Martel going down to Samu hurts his chances at holding on to the #1 contenders status. Wonder if the NWA has other plans for Martel and Flair. We will just have to wait and see.

Great first show! As much as the UWF is sick and tired of Fritz VonErich and we were glad to see him go, he really knows how to put on a good show! The David VonErich memorial is going to be awesome! -
UWF would like to use the Rock n Roll Express, Brody and Hansen on Halloween... Oct. 31

Nice to see the women getting some attention.

This slow playing of the clown angle has me hooked. I can't wait to find out who it is 1

Enjoyed the Bash! I guessed the TA outcome correctly but I wish I had seen that in person! I also enjoyed the Nature Boy getting some great singles matches during the Bash! He is the straw that stirs the NWA this game. I hope to see more of the Marte/Flair feud cross over into the MACW! Welcome Back!

9/28/1985: SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA UWF UNIFIED WORLD CHAMPION: JERRY “THE KING” LAWLER UWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE ROAD WARRIOIRS UWF NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION: STEVE “DR. DEATH” WILLIAMS UWF UNITED STATES CHAMPION: HACKSAW BUTCH REED UWF U NITED STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: MIDNIGHT EXPRESS UWF WORLD 6 MAN CHAMPIONS: ROCK n ROLL EXPRESS & RICKY GIBSON UWF WORLD TV CHAMPION: VLAD THE RUSSIAN HAMMER Hello again everybody. Welcome to Power Pro Wrestling, coming to you from Shreveport, Louisiana and the Irish McNeil’s Boys Club. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is Cowboy Bill Watts. We have got to get right to the video tape from Lake Front Arena in New Orleans and the big Loser Leave Town Title Match for the North American Title between Ted Dibiase and Steve “Dr. Death Williams. It obvious that both Dibiase and Williams are exhausted by neither will give an inch. As the ref admonishes Williams for a closed fist in the corner, Dibiase loads up the black glove. Williams rushes in and Dibiase swings! Wham! Dibiase’s punch is blocked and Dr. Death keeps shoulder blocking him into the corner. Dibiase stumbles out and Williams scoops him up! Oklahoma Stampede and we have a new champ! Jim Ross: That’s right folks, we have a new champ and the Rat Pack as we knew it is dead! Dibiase is banned from the UWF! Eric Embry is AWOL! Dr. Death comes out to loud applause and he is all amped up until Skandar Akbar hits the scene. SUMMARY SHOW TO GET US BACK ON TRACK AFTER MUSIC CITY MAYHEM ANGLE #2: Mr. Wrestling II and Shane Douglas turning on JYD in Nashville to collect the $25,000 bounty on JYD. Jim Ross is upset that Shane Douglas and Mr. Wrestling II turned on JYD in Nashville just to collect the $25,000. Mr. Wrestling II: I have learned many things over the years but one of the most important is the idea that a penny saved is a penny earned. I did not collect the bounty on JYD. I placed the bounty on JYD. That’s write I am the John who has been sending all those letters. I got sick and tired of JYD begging for my help and not saying thank you. You fans keep cheering for him and don’t see that it is people like me who keeps carrying him! Never once has he even asked what my name is. That is the least he could have done in the locker room. I have been in this industry for a long time and I got plenty of friends in wrestling. Each and everyone one of them calls me John, Johnny Walker! And now we won’t have to see JYD around here anymore. We broke his face so bad he will be eating through a straw for months and after that he will be wearing a mask so nobody has to see his broken face! ANGLE #3: The Midnight Express win the U.S. Tag Title from Ronnie Garvin and Terry Taylor as Bobby Eaton threw a fireball in the face of Ronnie Garvin. First of all, Ronnie Garvin is going to be out for a few weeks as he suffered some pretty bad burns. This means for now, Terry Taylor is going to go it alone and work as a single wrestler until Garvin is back and they can seek revenge on the Midnight Express. Second, we saw a video of an irate Jimmy Garvin going after Jim Cornette in the parking lot as he is seeking revenge for the attack on his brother. Jimmy might have taken this too far as he hit a Brainbuster on Cornette on the concrete. Cornette is in a neckbrace and Cowboy Jim Watts lets us know that while he understood the anger Jimmy Garvin was feeling, he could not condone such an attack outside of the ring. Watts said he had no choice but to suspend Jimmy Garvin indefinitely. ANGLE #4: Dusty Rhodes & Vlad “the Russian Hammer” Dusty is fuming from the attack by Vlad at Nashville and he really hypes up the USA vs Russia thing. We find out that in two weeks, Dusty will face Vlad for the UWF World TV title! ANGLE #5: Austin Idol’s Heel Turn Austin comes out with Tommy Rich and Ron Fuller and they are really laughing it up about how stupid Jerry Lawler and Superstar Bill Dundee are to believe that Idol was actually on their side. They vowed to take the Midget out and then focus on taking Lawler’s World title. We also find out the Eddie Gilbert has suddenly left the area but Fuller says not to fear. He is recruiting hard and his stable is about to grow. Fuller says his new army will be known as the Fuller Fabulous Ones. Later Dundee was at the interview desk with Lawler where Lawer apologized to Dundee for trusting Idol. They also vowed revenge and everything from the Memphis group seems back to normal which means nobody knows what is going to happen. Angle #6: UWF WORLD TAG TITLE Paul Ellering came out to the interview desk and basically did an “I told you so” interview where he truly believes that there isn’t a team in the UWF that can handle Animal and Hawk. Jim Ross did rattle off a few names but Ellering simple scoffed at them. ANGLE #7: UWF TV Schedule We find out that next week, the UWF will be premiering a new show titles Crossfire.

MUSIC CITY “Yello again everybody. I am Lance Russell and my partner tonight is Jim Ross. This truly has been the greatest week in UWF history as all of the promotions have come together for this wrestling spectacular and tonight is the culmination. Three huge World Title Matches are on tab for us here in Nashville at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds!t! UWF WORLD 6 MAN TAG TITLE The Tennessee Stud Stable (Tommy Rich & Eddie Gilbert) & Big John Stud Vs The Rock N Roll Express & Ricky Gibson An energy filled match that goes nearly 20 minutes and each wrestler gets some love. It starts out with the baby faces being one step ahead of everything the heels do. With some running of the ropes and great technical wrestling and some really cool reverses, the heels are so frustrated that they are kicking the ropes in anger. That is until Big John actually catches Ricky Gibson who went for a cross body block which leads to a huge slam from the nearly 7 footer and we head to the face in peril segment. Ross and Russell think the end is near but with amazing agility, Gibson bounces off the ropes and makes a tag to Ricky Morton. It doesn’t matter who the tag was to, we got all 6 in the ring in a hurry and the babyfaces are back in control. Double Drop kick to Stud and he stumbles through the ropes. Double back body drop to Rich and he is on the ground arching his back! Gilbert is surrounded as we hear Jim Ross telling us to get ready; we have seen this move before. The Rock n Roll Express and Ricky Gibson hit the ropes and come off at the same time and connect with a TRIPLE DROP KICK TO ALL DIFFERENT SIDES OF HOT STUFF’S HEAD! Ricky Morton goes for the cover but Wildfire comes to make the save…. WHAM Double Drop Kick by the Gibson brothers! 1… 2… 3. Jim Ross: AND WE HAVE NEW 6 MAN TAG CHAMPIONS UWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE The Road Warriors with Paul Ellering vs The Hiroshimo Wrecking Crew ( Genoichiro Tenryu& Jumbo Tsurata) with Lars Anderson Lance Russell: We are about to see a TRUE WORLD TITLE MATCH as we have the best North America has to offer vs the Best of the East! This might be the first time the Road Warriors are looking across the ring at their equals. Jim Ross: And don’t forget those two masterminds on the outside. Ellering or Lars may have something to say about this before all is said and done. The first few minutes if the match goes hot and heavy where both sides hit some big moves but nothing earth shattering. We then get a few minutes where each team is trying to play some mind games to show their domination… strength contests and some submission holds by the Wrecking Crew but we are still basically where we started. NOW THE WAR IS ON…. POWER MOVE AFTER POWER MOVE Lariats, Suplexes, and Powerbombs!. While these were all huge moves, each partner was prepared to make the save. After Lars tripped up Hawk, the Hiroshima Wrecking Crew takes over and we almost had new champs as Tenryu connected with a Folding Powerbomb but Paul Ellering placed Hawk’s leg on the bottom rope. Eventually we go bonzo gonzo here and the Road Warriors caught both members of the Wrecking Crew with Lariats! DOOMSDAY DEVICE ON GENICHIRO FOLLOWED BY DOOMSDAY DEVICE ON JUMBO! HAWK COVERS GENOCHIRO AND ANIMAL COVERS JUMBO! The ref is unsure what to do so he just decides to make a count as at least two of them are the legal men. 1… 2… 3.! Jim Ross: Wow, if the Wrecking Crew can’t beat the Road Warriors, who can? The Road Warriors are still the UWF World Tag Team Champions. UWF UNIFIED WORLD CHAMPION JERRY “THE KING” LAWLER VS STEVE “DR. DEATH” WILLIAMS After what we saw earlier this week when Dr. Death turned on Ted Dibiase, you would expect him to get a little love form the fans but this is Tennessee and Jerry Lawler is THE KING! As far as the match goes, Lawler is the better technical wrestler and catches Williams in moves like the abdominal stretch and the full nelson. The problem here is that Lawler doesn’t have the power to hold the moves. Williams is a BEAST. He simply flips Lawler over in the Ab Stretch and squeezes his way out of the full nelson. Williams controls the next part of the match but he becomes frustrated after Lawler escapes a few pin attempts some big moves like a football tackle and powerslam. Williams now brought in the rough stuff but this is right up Lawler’s ally! Eventually the King is on top again and the crowd goes nuts as he drops the strap on the singlet. A middle rope fist drop! WHAM! Lawler goes for the cover and to the shock of everyone, Williams powers out on 1! Lawler knows he needs some bigger moves so he goes for the piledriver but Williams flips him over his back. Williams connects with a bodyslam! 2 count! Football Tackle! 2 ½ Count! Frustrated, Dr. Death Scoops up Lawler and starts to run! WHAM! OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE! Jim Ross: Oh my, an Oklahoma Sooner will soon be champ. Williams covers Lawler as the crowd starts a groan! 1… 2… CRACK! Jim Ross: Bah Gawd! The Devil has just hit Dr. Death with a chair and that Devil is Ted Dibiase The ref calls for the bell and Dr. Death is awarded the match but by DQ so no Title Change. Dibiase is gloating and playing up his revenge to the crowd. Jerry Lawler looks at Dibiase and then he looks at Dr. Death. Lawler loves to win but not like this. WHAM! WHAM! WHAM! Lawler lays out Dibiase. Lawler now goes over to Dr. Death and helps him up and the two shake hands as the crowd goes nuts! Jim Ross: Dr. Death did not gain the title tonight but he has gained millions of new admires this week at Music City Mayhem! Lance Russell: What a week of wrestling this has been! So long from Nashville!

Nice series of shows where your endings enabled all your major angles to continue. Nice to Hall stepping up. Sarge has some collection with him now! I was surprised that you said it was shocking for Henig to beat Muraco. I am off in my timeline or is Henig not yet the star I remember him to be in the AWA? Either way, with him on the rise and your other youngsters, AWA is set to stay on top for a long time to come.

MUSIC CITY “Yello again everybody. This truly has been the greatest week in UWF history as all of the promotions have come together for this wrestling spectacular. We have seen twist and turns that nobody could have seen coming. From Austin Idol turning on Superstar Bill Dundee to the viscous attack by Vlad the Russian Hammer on the American Dream Dusty Rhodes. From title changes to new titles….. we have barely been able to keep up with all the action. Tonight will be no different and together with my partner Jim Ross, we are in for one of the most innovative nights in wrestling history. It is Gauntlet Night! First, the Tag Teams! All UWF Tag Team Champions have each been given a number chosen at random which will determine when they will enter the ring. Winner stays and the losers are eliminated. Last team standing gets a World Title Shot vs The Road Warriors Monday night as part of the closing ceremonies of the Great Tennessee State Fair! Next up will be the Singles Gauntlet which will follow the same format. Jim Ross: Bah Gawd! Imagine the carnage we will see by the end of the night. Let’s get to possible the best tag team match in the history of the sport right now! MUSIC CITY MAYHEM 1985 TAG TEAM GAUNTLET MATCH TEAMS (IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER) THE FAB ONES: UWF SOUTHERN TAG CHAMPS JIMMY VALIANT & DREAM MACHINE: UWF CENTRAL STATES TAG CHAMPS THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS: UWF U.S. TAG CHAMPS THE TENNESSEE STUD STABLE: MUSIC CITY BOWL CHAMPS THE WRECKING CREW: CONTINENTAL TAG CHAMPS TEAM #1 THE TENNESSEE STUD STABLE (Tommy Rich & Eddie Gilbert) The first team to come out is the Stud Stable and they are as arrogant as ever and to bring extra heat, Austin Idol is escorting them out. TEAM #2 JIMMY VALIANT & THE DREAM MACHINE As Rich and Gilbert are waiting in the ring, the speakers start to blare “The Boy From New York City” and the crowd explodes. Valiant may be goofy and unpredictable but when he is on the fans side, they love him. Together with Dream Machine. They As the match gets under way, there is no chain wrestling, no running the ropes and nothing that looks like wrestling. It is a brawl from the get go. While Dream Machine and Gilbert are going at it in the ring, Idol jumps up on the apron and trips Dream. Dream gets up and turns towards Idol which distracts the ref and Wildfire tosses Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert a pair of brass knuckles! WHAM! Jimmy Valiant outsmarts the heels and beats Gilbert to the punch. As Gilbert is putting on the knucks, Valiant comes up from behind and low blows Gilbert. Dream Machine turns to see a stooped over Gilbert and connects with a DDT for the WIN! This craziness is whey the love the Boogie Woogie Man but they still have 3 matches left to go to move on. TEAM #3 THE HIROSHIMA WRECKING CREW with LARS ANDERSON (Tsurata & Tenryu) Too bad for Dream Machine and Jimmy Valiant that this second team has it all. They can wrestle. They can brawl and they are fresh. We get about 8 good minutes of Dream and Valiant selling to the superior wrestlers until Jumbo Tsurata catches Dream Machine with a Bridging German Suplex for the win. TEAM #4 THE FAB ONES No sexy entrance for the Fab Ones here as the rush to the ring to try and catch the “tired” Wrecking Crew before they have had a chance to regroup. This strategy didn’t necessary work as we get almost 16 minutes of fast paced, technical wrestling with its share of double team moves and haymakers. Lars does little to get involved here and he keeps pointing to his waist as he is predicting World Titles in his team’s future. In the end, we see the Wrecking Crew move on as Lane missed on a missile dropkick and Tenryu picked him up and climbed to the second rope! Jim Ross: Uh oh…. We have seen this before! WHAM! A second rope powerbomb for the win. Lance Russell: Wow, this Wrecking Crew is tough! Two wins in a row and now we all know who is next. TEAM #5 THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS Poor Jim Cornette. He made the mistake of slapping Jumbo while the action had spilled outside the ring. This set Lars off and an angry Lars is something to be seen. Lars chases Cornette up the ramp and now the two teams are on their own. The Wrecking Crew should be out of energy after two tough matches. SHOULD BE BUT THEY ARE NOT. They are giving the Express everything they could handle and more but it seemed like their luck runs out as Tenryu gets caught in the wrong corner. After a pretty good double teaming, Beautiful Bobby thinks he has his opponent hurt and climbs the ropes for the Alabama Jammer but nobody was home! A quick tag to Jumbo who JUST TAKES CARE OF BUSINESS. Tenryu recovers enough and we go a little bonzo gonzo with the Hiroshima Wrecking Crew in complete control. Jim Cornette rushes down to the ring with Lars still in pursuit. He enters the ring. BIG MISTAKE! Jumbo scoops him up and WHAM! Samoan drop from the nearly 6’6 monster. Condrey sees his chance and rushes at Jumbo. WHAM! Big Boot to Condrey’s face as Jumbo turned around in plenty of time. Eaton is just recovering from his missed Alabama Jam but Jumbo is ready! WHAM! JUMPING KNEE STRIKE TO THE HEAD AND EATON IS OUT! 1… 2… 3! Jim Ross: I tried to warn everyone about the carnage! I mean the Hiroshima Wrecking Crew has left bodies all over the Tennessee State Fairgrounds! Beware Road Warriors. This team is not to be messed with! MUSIC CITY MAYHEM 1985 GAUNTLET MATCH WRESTLERS (IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER) BAM BAM BIGELOW: UWF CONTINENTAL CHAMPION DAVID SAMMARTINO: CONTINENTAL TV CHAMPION HARLEY RACE: UWF SOUTHERN CHAMPION HACKSAW REED: USWA U.S. CHAMPION MARTY JONES: CENTRAL STATES TV CHAMPION SWEET BROWN SUGAR: CENTAL STATES CHAMPION STEVE “DR. DEATH” WILLIAMS: MUSIC CITY BOWL CHAMPION TED DIBIASE: MID-SOUTH NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION VLAD “THE RUSSIAN HAMMER”: UWF TV CHAMPION WRESTLER #1 VLAD “THE RUSSIAN HAMMER” Oh the heat that one man waving a Russian flag can bring in 1985! WRESTLER #2 MARTY JONES Marty cautiously enters the ring but tries a sneak attack as Vlad puts the flag away. Jones is throwing everything but the kitchen sink but Vlad no sells each and every move. Vlad whips him into the ropes and goes for the Russian Sledgehammer but Jones ducks under and comes off for a cross body block which takes Vlad down. We now see Jones get a little shine here and both announcers point out that this is the toughest match Vlad has had to date. After a few minutes Vlad simply “muscles up” as he had enough. This time, he hits Jones with a clubbing forearm before he whips him into the ropes! WHAM! RUSSIAN SLEDGE HAMMER AND JONES IS FINISHED! WRESTLER #3 DAVID SAMMARTINO with FEDDIE BLASSIE & TEDDY MUSCLES David comes in very confident and goes right to the face of Vlad and pokes him with an index finger to the chest. WHAM! Massive forearm to the neck by Vlad! An Irish Whip and WHAM! RUSSIAN SLEDHAMMER AND SAMMARTINO IS FINISHED! WRESTLER #4 HARLEY RACE with FREDDIE BLASSIE & TEDDY MUSCLES Vlad is pumped and has his attention on Race as the former NWA champ makes his way to the ring. This allows Teddy Muscles to enter the ring. Teddy is even bigger and stronger then Vlad and he comes right up behind him and connects with a nasty Belly to Belly suplex! Vlad is in a bad way and the fans love it. Both Lance and Jim Ross wonder when the last time Blassie’s stable received any cheers but they were loving it. The ref could do nothing about it as this was between matches so there was no DQ. Harley Race simply comes in and connects with a few of those amazingly high, high suplexes for the win! WRESTLER #5 SWEET BROWN SUGAR Sugar starts off on fire with a series of missile dropkicks but Blassie trips him up. Race takes advantage and soon gets the tainted win with the Diving Headbutt. WRESTLER #6 BAM BAM BIGELOW This is the longest bout so far as it goes nearly 20 minutes. Ross and Russell can’t believe the conditioning of Race as this is his third bout and he still looks fresh. They are also amazed at the athleticism of the big man from New Jersey! Race whips Bigelow into the ref and he is out. Ross warns us that here comes Teddy Muscles and Bigelow is in trouble. Teddy tells Race to hold Bigelow and he does. Teddy hits the ropes and comes off with a nasty spear from the big man. The only problem was that it was on Race as Bigelow escaped at the last minute. WHAM! Bigelow hits Teddy Muscles with an ear-popping Enzuigiri kick that knocked him right out of the ring. Bigelow turns on Race and scoops him up for an Over-the-Shoulder Piledriver for the win. Ross and Russell must have played that replay over and over again as they were in awe of that move! WRESTLER #7 HACKSAW BUTCH REED with ERNIE LADD As you can tell by now, the UWF is the home of the big man and here we go again. The annoying chant of “We Are….. The Nation…. Of DOMINATION begins to play over and over again. This one doesn’t disappoint as we have power move after power move as both men awe the crowd but neither can get the win. Once again, the ref got a little close to the action and went down. Neither man slowed down but the action did spill outside. As Bigelow stumbled to his feet …… WHAM! The 6’9 Ernie Ladd knocks Bigelow out cold with a Big Boot. DING DING DING Too bad for the Nation of Domination. The ref saw the move by Ladd and DQ’s Reed. Reed is furious and tosses Bigelow in. Lance Russell: By golly Reed is strong. He just Gorilla Press Slams the big 350 pounder! Ladd picks Bigelow up by his head and holds him up. WHAM Reed almost separates Bigelow’s body from his head with a Running Lariat. Ladd and Reed leave a crumbled Bigelow laying in the ring. WRESTLER #8 TED DIBIASE Dibiase simple walks in and covers Bigelow for the three count. WRESTLER #9 STEVE “DR. DEATH” WILLIAMS Dibiase is laughing now as Williams, a fellow Rat Packer, comes to the ring. Dibiase, the leader of the Rat Pack, is sure that Williams will just lie down for him. As Williams comes into the ring, he shakes the hand of Dibiase who seems to be going over the plan on how Dibiase will win the Gauntlet Match. He tells Dr. Death to simply lay on the mat and Dibiase will cover him for the three count. You can tell that Dr. Death is not happy with this plan and the fans start to cheer him on. This infuriated Dibiase who is getting impatient with Williams. After Williams refuses again, Dibiase, hands on his hips, turns to the crowd and stares and the ceiling. He is WHITE HOT! Dr. Death makes the throat slashing sign and the crowd explodes. As Dibiase turns back to Dr. Death….. WHAM! Williams hits Dibiase with maybe the best football tackle ever! Williams hooks the leg and gains the pin fall as Ross and Russell are in disbelief. Jim Ross: Bah Gawd…. The Rat Pack is Dead! The Rat Pack is dead! Lance Russell hypes up what we just saw and reminds us to tune in Monday for World Championship Night here at the Tennessee State Fair.

Parade of Champions is looking good! -
MUSIC CITY 9/12/1985: Continuation of title day at the Tennessee State Fair....... UWF SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLE THE FABULOUS ONES VS THE KIWI SHWWPHERDERS (Rip Morgan & Jonathan Boyd) While the match was great, the spectacle of these 4 men entering the ring was a sight to be seen. Between the tuxedos and top hats of the “Sharpe Dressed Men” to the Kiwi Sheepherders and their crazy march to the ring all while waving the New Zealand flag, the fans were thoroughly entertained before the bout ever got started. Once it did, we had we have a crazy four part match. The first sees the Fab Ones running the ropes and connecting with some high paced moves. Next, the Kiwi Sheepherders use some brutal tactics to put the Fab Ones in some peril. Keirn is able to escape the trouble and tag in Lane who comes in like a house afire and the bonzo gonzo part is under way. Too bad for the Fab Ones that the ref goes down which allow a recovered Terry Gordy time to rush in powerslams both Lane and Keirn. This allows the Kiwi Sheepherders to make the pin and gain the UWF Southern Title! Lance Russell is in shock at the behavior of Bam Bam Gordy but Jim Ross reminds us what Michael Hayes always says, “Once a Freebird, always a Freebird” and with the white- hot feud going on right now between the Freebirds and the Fab Ones, he is not shocked! UWF U.S. TAG TEAM TITLE RONNIE GARVIN & TERRY TAYLOR VS THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS with JIM CORNETTE We get a three part match here with a crazy finish. We start off with Terry Taylor and Bobby Eaton showing off their technical skill with some nice chain wrestling. Garvin goes next and it is the baby faces who turn rulebreakers first in this match. The good news for the fans is that both Taylor and Garvin are great at throwing the fists and the champions stay in control of the bout through the second stage. Cornette tosses the tennis racket in but before Condrey catches it, Garvin intercepts it and threatens to crack Cornette with it. It is here that Condrey, who has been playing the heel in peril makes the tag to Bobby Eaton. Eaton comes in with a forearm to the back of the head and backs Garvin into the corner. Terry Taylor is fuming and goes after Cornette. This side action has everyone’s attention including the ref. As Cornette is dashing around the ring with Taylor in pursuit we hear a frantic Jim Ross. “Bah Gawd…. FIREBALL….. FIREBALL…. Bobby Eaton has just lit Ronnie Garvin’s face on fire! Garvin is writhing in pain and is rolling frantically all over the ring. Terry Taylor never saw it and neither did the ref so nobody involved realized how much trouble Garvin is in. All of a sudden, Jimmy Garvin runs to the ring and throws in the white towel and goes right after the Midnight Express and he is going wild. The Midnight Express run for higher ground as Lance and Ross wait for the decision. The ref comes over and whispers into the ear of Lance Russell. “Well fans, you are not going to like this at all. We have new U.S. Tag Team Champions as Jimmy Garvin tossed in the white towel surrending the match and the TITLES to the Midnight Express. Jim Ross can’t believe it and wants the decision reversed while a camera catches a screaming Ronnie Garvin being helped to the back as Jimmy Garvin is going wild about what he is going to do to the Midnight Express and Jim Cornette. UWF CONTINENTAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP THE WRECKING CREW (GENOCHIRO TENRYU & JUMBO TSURATA) with LARS ANDERSON VS THE NIGHTMARES The one thing that was obvious after this match was that the Road Warriors better be on their game or the Wrecking Crew might just be the new UWF World Tag Champions. They just outclassed the Nightmares here and had a clean win as Tenryo connected with a middle rope powerbomb that seemed to break Nightmare #1 in half! UWF SOUTERN TITLE HARLEY RACE with FREDDIE BLASSIE & TEDDIE MUSCLES VS KEVIN VON ERICH Oh the numbers game! Race and Kevin is an instant classic but could VonErich deal with Blassie and Teddy Muscles! The crowd goes wild as they see the solution. He has brought Mike and Terry Von Erich to ringside with him. Blassie argued that they couldn’t stay because they did not have a managerial license but the ref quickly pointed out that neither does Teddy so he let them all stay. This allowed for some crazy moments but the two camps on the outside cancelled each other out and Race’s entourage didn’t play a factor in the outcome for once. What we did have was a GREAT WRESTLING MATCH! Dropkicks, Sleepers, Hammerlocks, Claws Diving Headbutts, Scoop Slams and Suplexes and of course your eye gouging and fist-a-cuffs! Neither man could come out on top and the bout ended with a 30 Minute Draw! UWF NORTH AMERICAN TITLE TED DIBIASE VS DUSTY RHODES Dusty Rhodes gives it his best shot as he comes out all stitched up but you can tell the attack by Vlad has taken its toll. Dusty gives the fans everything he has and is on the verge of the title but as the ref got in a little close, he didn’t have the angle to see Dibiase load up that black glove. After the forced break, Dibiase caught Rhodes with the glove for the win. Both Lance and Jim Ross really want the UWF to step in and ban that glove! MUSIC CITY TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP AUSTIN IDOL & SUPERSTAR BILL DUNDEE VS THE TENNESSEE STUD STABLE (Tommy Rich & Eddie Gilbert) A classic Memphis Wrestling feud here that has the fans on the edge of their seats. They hate the Stud Stable and really want to see Idol and Dundee give it to them. The beginning looks promising as the fan favorites have Rich in a world of trouble. After a lowblow by Rich and a tag to Gilbert who comes in with an eye rake on Idol, the tide has turned. We now get about five good minutes of Dundee as the face in peril! Somehow he makes a daring escape! Besides feuds what else is Memphis know for? That’s right…… Heel turns. As Dundee tries to make the tag to Dundee, the Superstar simply jumps off the ring apron onto the floor and walks away. Superstar is left to fight on his own and gives a nice effort but eventually he meets his fate with the Hot Shot! Lance Russell: I should have known. It was too good to be true. The Peaceful Memphis is offer. That lowdown rotten snake Idol is back to his disgusting ways. Why did we ever trust him? The Tennessee Stud Stable are the first ever Music City Bowl Tag Champions! MUSIC CITY CHAMPIONSHIP STEVE “DR. DEATH” WILLIAMS VS HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN This might just be the match of the week here in Nashville. We got too big, angry men here who hate each other and it shows from the get go. This looks more like a bar room brawl then a wrestling show and the fans love every minute of it. Power move after power move with each man doing a nice job a selling. We get a clean finish here as Dr. Death sidestepped a football tackle that caused Hacksaw to hit the ring post with his head. As he staggered out to the center, Dr. Death caught him with an Oklahoma Stampede for the victory. While it was clean, there is no way that Williams is over Dr. Death. This match was so even that the next time the finish could easily be reversed. Jim Ross: And the first ever Memphis City Bowl Champion is Dr. Death Steve Williams. Don’t forget to join us in two days for the Gauntlet Matches here at the Tennessee State Fair. So long for now!

Two title changes in one show. Love the drama in Lutte as we are never sure what will happen. Lutte taking the titles from the Rockers.... id this more punishment for poor choices outside of the ring?

I enjoy how you use history to help the AWA but also write your own history as you build certain characters. Tony Atlas as a huge heel here destroying Steamboat with the Full Nelson and Al Snow with the series of power moves paints such a vivid picture makes it memorable to me instead of just results. Many of us focus on the outside ring action to build our stories while you do it in the ring. I think these match details are important and it is something I need to work on.
