Just love the style. Your use of American wrestlers makes it more interesting to me as that is what I am familiar with. Love the 3 Way handshake with Lawler, Murdoch and Jumbo. Inoki seems like he has some work ahead of him. The best re able to assume many roles and he should I understand that and go with it. How common was it to see Americans in the 3 final matches? I enjoy it but doe Japan?

With the idea of what is best for UWF and with CCW expanding into Florida, the UWF sends Sir Oliver Humperderdink back to the CCW.

In terms of fantasy booking, it is all how you use a guy versus what his in ring abilities and mic skills truly are. This is one in real like David Sammartino was a bust but in just two days, he has risen to the top of the most hated wrestlers in all of the game! Great job as always. -
I love how your TV shows are so much better then the crap WWF put out in the 1980's. Tito and Santana would have been the best match of the decade on TV. I must say that have been having trouble buying Sika as a singles wrestler but that is only because I am stubborn and just see the Wild Samoans but I am sure I will grow to love him as you are a master at promoting things. Hogan must run this gauntlet of heels but I wonder if his toughest opponents are not in the tag division right now.

Enjoyed the series of shows. Not sure if Malenko over II would be an upset at this stage of his career. Funk is hot right now and might deserve a run with Flair but maybe the loss by TA sets him up for a long feud to the title!! -

Wish I was in Huntsville for this one. I thought the card was great as it had a lot of twists and turns. Finally someone has found a use for David Sammartino. Dusty might actually kill him! Something like this propels Sammartino to heights he never reached before. -
Just to let everyone know, I added a few names to free agency who were in the NWA territory of Hawaii at the time. UWF releases Kendo Nagasaki which gives me two regular spots open and a jobber spot. I would like to add Farmer Boy Ipo and the Samoan LeRoy Brown to regular spots and and Art Crews to a jobber spot.

5/25/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 TULSA, OKLAHOMA UWF UNIFIED WORLD CHAMPION: DUSTY RHODES NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION: HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN UWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE ROAD WARRIOIRS UWF WORLD 6 MAN CHAMPIONS: TOMMY RICH, EDDIE GILBERT & HONKY TONK WAYNE FERRIS UWF WORLD TV CHAMPION: ICEMAN PARSONS Hello again everybody. Welcome to UWF & Mid-South Wrestling from Tulsa, Oklahoma and the Tulsa Convention Center here on WTBS. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. Jim Ross and Ernie Ladd both hype up last week’s event in Alexandria at the Rapides Parish Coliseum and pay special attention to the UWF World Tag Team Title bout between the Road Warriors and The Sheiks (Crusher Blackwell and Ken Patera) We see a quick video tape of the end of that match where the ref had totally lost control and everybody was in the ring at the same time. Even Akbar and Ellering where going at it on the outside. The ref is forced to call for a Double DQ but this does little to stop the action. Eventually wrestlers and officials have to come down to stop the brawl but you could imagine how that went. When the video ends, we see the Road Warriors and Ellering at the interview table where they are fuming mad. They want the Sheiks so bad that they are willing to put their titles on the line in Little Rock on June 1st; under one stipulation that is. When the Road Warriors win their bout, Paul Ellering gets the Sheik in the ring all by himself! Akbar doesn’t hesitate and he comes right to the interview desk with the Sheiks (Blackwell, Patera & Reed) and accepts the challenge but it looks like this might not wait until Little Rock. Both teams are in each other’s faces as Jim Ross tries to calm things down and reminds the Road Warriors that they are at a numbers disadvantage. As you would expect that does nothing to calm this fire storm. All of a sudden the American Dream comes out and gets right in the face of Hacksaw Reed. Ross informs us that the Dream and Reed also had some barnburner in Alexandria and that it ended in 30 minute draw but at the conclusion of that match, Reed hit Rhodes with a low blow and then Akbar and Reed really went to town! Cowboy Bill Watts struts out and demands calm. He informs us that he has already granted the Sheiks a rematch in Little Rock and that if the Road Warriors win, Akbar will go one on one with Ellering. Everyone seems cool with that until…. CRACK! A huge bull rope is cracked and out comes The Long Riders (Bill & Scott Irwin) who remind everyone that there will be no title defense for the Road Warriors on June 1st because they will NO LONGER BE THE CHAMPIONS. Bill Irwin: You two may think you are big and bad with your Mohawk hairdos, your studded dog collars and face paint but we know that is all a gimmick. When you got to do that much to make yourself look tough, you aint tough at all! Scott Irwin: And after we take those belts from you, we got no problem beating a couple a pretend A-RABS just for the fun of it! Cowboy Watts: Don’t worry! Whoever the champions will be, must fulfill all signed titles matches so whoever comes out of that Super Card, The Rocket City Rumble, in Huntsville will face the Sheiks in Little Rock the following week. Hacksaw Reed: Wait a minute all you suckers! Let’s remember one thing! Around here, I am the Man and what the Man says; Goes! You all saw the American Sob, Dusty Rhodes lying face down on the matt in his own drool when I was finished with him last week. I demand a rematch so that belt can be around the waist of the Best There Is instead of the Fat Never Was! Cowboy Bill Watts: Well, I have an answer for you Mr. Reed. Since Mr. Akbar and his merry band of thieves here are so big on playing the numbers came, we are going to even it out tonight! In order for Hacksaw Reed to get a rematch, he will have to win a Handicap Match against the American Dream and a tag team partner of his choice in today’s Main Event! Reed, Akbar and the rest of the Sheiks have a complete fit but Watts warns then to watch their mouths as any response now could result in a suspension! As everyone walks off set, Ladd wonders why Watts always seems to come down on the side of his favorites while Ross is so amped up about the Main Event that Watts just put together! ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: TED DIBIASE & DR. DEATH STEVE WILLIAMS VS RON SEXTON & RANDY BARBER A complete squash match where the end comes when Dr. Death caught Sexton with the Oklahoma Stampede. At the interview desk, the two mega stars of the Rat Pack call out the UWF North American Champion, Hacksaw Duggan and Terry Gordy. Dibiase says that he will regain that title if it’s the last thing he does while Dr. Death warns Bam Bam that he is not finished with him. Jim Ross takes the opportunity to put the Rat Pack in their place by asking them to explain what happened last week in Alexandria when the Freebirds with Duggan beat the Rat Pack in an 8 Man Tag Match. Ted Dibiase: (with a smirk on his face) Just one battle in a long, long war! When all is said and done, the Rat Pack will control the UWF. That’s right folks, take your pictures now of Duggan and the rest of the Freebirds as they soon will be out of wrestling! ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: CHRIS BENOIT VS BUDDY LANDELL Benoit does well here but Landell is so good at playing the scared heel. He suckers Benoit in as he pleads for mercy only to catch the rookie with an eye rake. Now the Nature Boy of the Rat Pack takes Benoit to school and snaps in the Figure 4. Benoit has no choice but to surrender. JYD is forced to rush in to help aid his young friend when Landell refuses to break the hold. JYD has his way with Landell and tosses him from pillar to post as the crowd went wild. At the interview desk, JYD is fuming mad. As he is “howlin at the moon,” he lets us know he is sick all the nonsense that has been going around here. From the Kiwi Sheeeherders to the Rat Pack, he doesn’t care who he gets in the ring with but he guarantees that the Dog will take care of business. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MAIN EVENT UWF WORLD CHAMPION DUSTY RHODES & A MYSTERY PARTNER VS HACKSAW BUTCH REED with SKANDAR AKBAR Hacksaw Reed is in the ring first and he is all fired up. He wants to know who Dusty’s partner will be but Dusty adds to the suspense by coming out alone. Then he points to the curtain and out walks someone he goes back a long way with… The 6’9, 340 pound Blackjack Mulligan! Ross hypes this up as Ladd is fuming and can’t believe what Watts has done. As the match gets under way, Reed faces off against Rhodes in the beginning and it is all you could expect. Jim Ross: Oh my, look who is joining us here at the interview desk. It is none other than Classy Freddy Blassie and his man, The Universal Heartthrob, Austin Idol. Freddie Blassie: Shut up Ross and give me that mic. We came here to make sure the Fat Slob Dusty Rhodes doesn’t make up some excuse not to show up tomorrow night in Huntsville, Alabama at the Rocket City Rumble. We all know that he is afraid of Austin Idol. I mean just look at my man and then at Rhodes. My man is the perfect physical specimen. Look and the biceps. Look at the pectorals and then look at the roll upon roll of Rhodes’ disgusting gut. While all of this is going on, we see Reed starting to have trouble with the 2-1 attack of Rhodes and Mulligan. Rhodes connects with a Bionic Elbow and then he tags in Mulligan who comes in with the Iron Claw! Reed is struggling to survive when all of a sudden we hear Austin Idol say he has heard enough of this. He rushes over without Rhodes knowing he is coming and pulls him off the apron onto the floor. A quick bodyslam onto the concrete and Rhodes in in trouble. The ref calls for the bell but this is only the beginning…. The rest of the Sheiks (Blackwell & Patera) rush out and attack Mulligan. The Road Warriors rush out and go after the Sheiks. The Long Riders come out and go after the Road Warriors. While all of this is going on, Austin Idol is just beating on Dusty. As Jim Ross begins to sign off, we catch a glimpse of Jerry Lawler who is just hanging out over by the curtain. Jim Ross: Wow, we got some slobbernocker going on here. Look at the carnage. There are bodies all over the place. Austin Idol is stompin a mud hole and walkin it dry on Rhodes. And what is behind the appearance of one Jerry “The King” Lawler. He is a cerebral assassin and you know he has some wild plan here. What a couple of weeks it is going to be in the UWF. First, anybody near Huntsville, Alabama must get to the Rocket City Rumble. The Road Warriors are putting the World Titles on the line against the Long Riders and Dusty Rhodes is looking for revenge for this savage attack at the hands of Austin Idol. And next week in Little Rock, the Sheiks will be looking to take those World Tag Belts from whoever the champs may be. So long from Tulsa.

I have offered both Boon and now Dex at least 6-8 names on my roster. As to date, neither has wanted any. I also recently joined the NWAR game but missed the draft. I had to choose a roster from left over talent and that is what I did. A couple of players were nice enough to offer a one or two guys but it was my fault for missing the draft.
-
Not sure what you mean with protected vs unprotected. The entire list is open to you.
-
I like seeing Race getting another shot in the main event in LA.
-
To help CCW with its expansion into Florida, the UWF sends Blackjack Mulligan and Mike Graham.
-
With Dex coming back in, free agency is getting pretty thin. Would anyone have a problem if I added a view people who I know were active in 85 in Hawaii which was part of the NWA. Names like Farmer Boy Ipo, Samoan LeRoy Brown, Mighty Milo, Super Samoan Sakalia and Superfly Tui Selinga.
-
Sounds good to me. I will take them off of free agency tomorrow when I have some time.

The Rocket City Rumble is a must see! The UWF is loving having you as a partner! -
So authentic for the area and time period. I have said it before... it is not the rosters that make wrestling special but how you use your roster. This would get me to tune in every week and that is why it is one of the best promotions in the game. -A bounty on Lawler with the sleazy manager and Abdulah coming after him. Bill Apter is getting his pen ready now. -The Best of 7 series for the title shot with the RnR Express and the Rock n Roll RPM's. Anywhere else in the country, the RnR Express would be too good to step foot in the ring with the RPM's but here.... it is a pick em. -A Jr Heavyweight Tourny with a great mix of young guns, international wrestlers and a few old timers- A Must see. - And let's not forget, Gama Singh has gone from a "Who" to a "Household Name"

5/25/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 DALLAS, TEXAS “Yello again everybody. Welcome to USWA Wrestling, a UWF Promotion, from the world’s most famous wrestling arena, The Sportatorium in downtown Dallas, Texas. I am Lance Russell along with Fritz Von Erich. We have a real busy show for you and let’s get right to the ring. Fritz VonErich: Hold on a second Lance. I have something I have to get off my chest. I am unsure exactly what is going on lately but everyone except these great fans here in Dallas seem to be turning on my family and all the other great wrestlers from right here in Texas. Last week I had to relieve one Playboy Gary Hart of his duties here in the USWA and just this week it is obvious that the Memphis boys influenced referee Jerry Calhoun into helping the Tennessee Volunteer Army win the 6 Man belts from my son Kevin and his partners Blackjack Mulligan and Stan Hansen. Let’s go to the video tape to see what I am talking about. We see a quick video of Jerry Lawler signaling referee Jerry Calhoun who then makes what appears to be a very fast count against Kevin VonErich by Tommy “Wildfire” Rich. Fritz goes on to say that he is extremely frustrated at how his partnership with Jerry Jarrett and Memphis Wrestling is going. He had hoped that by joining forces with Jarrett that the USWA could grow but Jarrett seems to be making a mockery of everything USWA has been about since its inception. Fritz then gets really upset at how Jarrett seemed to mock his firing of Gary Hart by having his 18 year old son, Jeff, do the announcing on last week’s show. Fritz ends with the thought that he is unsure if the partnership can continue much longer. Lance seems to stutter a bit before getting us to the ring for our first match. This made some in the business wonder if Fritz’s statement was part of the show or has kayfabe been broken. MATCH: UWF WORLD TV CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH RUSHER KIMURA VS ICEMAN KING PARSONS An energy filled match that has a few momentum changes. Kimura takes over and the end seems near. He gives the throat slashing kill sign and then he whips Parsons off the ropes for the running clothesline. WHAM! Parsons had ducked under it and came of the ropes again but this time it was he who connected with his finisher… A Big Butt Bump and got the victory. Both Fritz and Russell hype up the fact that we have a new TV Champion. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- JIMMY SNUKA VS KELLY KINISKI An easy win for the Superfly and he really impressed everyone with the height of his Top Rope Death Leap at the end. The crowd was unsure how to treat Snuka as he has acted like a monster since coming to the USWA but Dingo calling him out last week seems to have given Superfly some support. After the match, we see Akbar, Crusher Blackwell and Ken Patera head to the ring and go after Snuka 3-1. Snuka took a pretty good beating here and when Akbar stopped by the interview desk, Fritz wanted to know what that was all about. Skandar Akbar: Last week I tried to add Dingo Warrior to my stable and he needed time to think about it. Well, I just wanted to show Dingo that when he does join us, that we have each other’s back and that he will quickly rise to the top. We also wanted to show him what happens when you don’t do what Devastation Inc. wants. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: 6 MAN UWF WORLD TITLE MATCH THE TENNESSEE VOLUNTEER ARMY (Tommy Rich, Eddie Gilbert & Honky Tonk Wayne Ferris) VS KEVIN VON ERICH, BLACKJACK MULLIGAN & MIKE GRAHAM In a wild match, we see Mike Graham fill in for Stan Hansen who had contractual observations elsewhere. As one would expect, Graham gets trapped in the wrong corner and eventually makes the tag to VonErich who takes control. The action is fast and furious and it seems like we will have new champs until Jerry Lawler rushes in with a chair. This gets the champs DQ’d but they keep their belts. At the interview desk, Lawler warns Fritz about getting in his way and he doesn’t care if he is in the Lone Smell State! Lawler says they he had to make sure that his Tennessee buddies don’t get cheated again down here in Dallas! This seemed to forever cement the idea that if wrestlers are from Tennessee and they are in Texas they are going to be booed till the cows come home! All of a sudden the crowd explodes as Mike and Kerry join Kevin and Blackjack and they rush after the Tennessee Volunteer Army who runs for the hills. Kevin gets on the mic and says he doesn’t care if it is in Memphis but the Texas boys will get their titles back this week! Kerry is joined by Precious as the take a moment to hype of their feud with Jimmy Garvin and Nanny. Lance reminds us that he and his brother will be facing Garvin and Rip Rodgers next and this week the USWA Title will be on the line against Garvin in the Mid-South Coliseum! Kerry is very confident is his return but the fans are most excited as Precious dares Nanny to get her in her way. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MAIN EVENT MATCH: RIP RODGERS & JIMMY GARVIN with NANNY SIMPSON VS MIKE & KERRY VON ERICH with PRESCIOUS A wild 8 minute brawl here that has the VonErichs on top at the beginning. We then get a little face in peril time as Mike gets caught in the wrong corner but he somehow escapes and tags in his brother who comes in like a house afire. He quickly clears the ring and the action spills out onto the floor for a bit. Back inside the ring, we see Kerry clamp the claw on Rip Rodgers and finish him off with the Tornado Punch. Garvin was about to rush in and make the save but Precious was one step ahead of him. She rushed over and shoved Nanny out of the way and tripped Garvin on his way into the ring. The VonErichs and Precious celebrated as the heels were furious! Before ending the show, Lance Russell reminds us of the great card coming up in the Mid-South Coliseum this week and that it will be the Dingo Warrior vs Jimmy Snuka along with the main event between Jimmy Garvin and Kerry VonErich for the USWA Heavyweight title. Lance Russell: So long from Dallas!

I enjoy how your roster is really balanced. From Tim Horner in the opening to Ric Flair and the other major players in the Main Event. Very nicely organized. Would love to see that one main rival step up and give Flair the feud of a lifetime. -
I enjoy reading your introductions to the matches and what the reason behind each match is about.

I took Bill Ash and Dave Taylor off but did not see Marty Jones. Is he a free agent and I just missed him?

5/18/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE “Yello again everybody. Welcome to UWF and USWA Wrestling from Memphis, Tennessee and the WMC Studio. I am Lance Russell along with our special guest announcer today, Jeff Jarrett. Remember folks, last week we saw Fritz fire my color commentator, Playboy Gary Hart and for the time being, we will being using guest announcers on a weekly basis. Well Jeff, how does this feel. I mean you have just turned 18 and now you are on TV as one of the announcers for the hottest wrestling program in the country. Jeff Jarrett: I must say that I am a bit nervous but my father told me that this would be the best way to become familiar with the family business. A business I plan on spending my entire life in. Oh, my dad also wanted me to say that if the boys down in Texas can do, it so can I. Whatever that means? Lance Russell: Well, yeah, I guess we will leave that alone and get right to the action. We have a huge main event for everyone today as it will be The Tennessee Volunteer Army; Tommy Rich, Eddie Gilbert and The Honky Tonk Man, Wayne Ferris vs Kevin Von Erich, Blackjack Mulligan and Stan Hansen for the UWF World 6 Man Titles! Jeff Jarrett: Go Vols! Lance Russell: ummm, well let’s get right to the ring for our first match. JERRY LAWLER VS RANDY BARBER Lawler makes quick work on Barber as the end comes by submission with a Royal Abominal Stretch. The fans go wild here for Lawler and he is definitely the king of Memphis. What a difference a few hundred miles make as Lance Russell reminds us that those fans down in Texas really gave him the business in the Cotton Bowl. Jeff Jarrett doesn’t understand as he quickly admits that The King is one of his idols! Lawler reminds Jeff to work hard and he could one day become the King of Memphis. Lawler then goes on with a bunch of one liners about the people of Texas. He also guarantees that in just a little while, his buddies, the Tennessee Volunteer Army are going to take the belts from the Toothless Texas. Jarrett laughs as Lance says, “That will be about enough of that.” ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- JIMMY GARVIN with NANNY SIMPSON VS TIGER CONWAY JR. After Tiger Conway Jr. rallied from a before the bell attack from Garvin, Jr. was all over Garvin. Unfortunately for Tiger, it seems that Garvin has been teaching Nanny some of the old tricks that he taught Precious. Garvin was able to back Tiger into the ropes and then caught him with a right hand. As the ref went to warn him, Nanny jumped up on the apron and clocked him over the head with what seemed to be another “loaded” purse. Garvin added a Brainbuster for show and it was all over. Garvin and Nanny seemed very confident and they were demanding a mixed tag match with Kerry VonErich and that turn coat Precious. Jeff Jarrett seemed very excited at the idea of this mixed tag match! MATCH: UWF TV TITLE MATCH RUSHER KIMURA VS MIKE GRAHAM We get some good chain wrestling here and both are doing a good job of bumping and selling. Kimura plays the heel well here as the tide turns after a low blow. Kimura then goes on the offensive and really gives it to Graham. Kimura gives his throat slashing sign and followed it up with a mighty running lariat. Instead of pinning Graham he pulls him up and then stands him up by the hair and connects with another big lariat. Both Jarrett and Lance Russell are upset but it doesn’t stop Kimura from doing it again. The crowd pops as Iceman Parsons rushes in to aid Graham and he gives Kimura a couple of big blows before he whips the champ into the ropes and connects with a Big Butt Bump that sends Kimura falling through the ropes. Iceman goes to Graham but keeps an eye on the champ. Kimura decides that discretion is the better part of valor and heads to the locker room Lance Russell: I am not sure we have seen the last of this one. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: DINGO WARRIOR VS LANNY POFFO A quick and easy win for the Warrior as he connects with a might powerslam. At the interview desk the Warrior plays down the importance of him not having a manager any longer now that Gary Hart has been fired. He is very confident that he helped Hart more than Hart helped him. He also says that he is not done with Superfly Snuka. Warrior is furious at Snuka who he says insulted him last week and that Snuka must be a little short on brains if he thought that he was the top dog in Hart’s stable. Lance Russell reminds Warrior that it was him who attacked Snuka to which Warrior said he already explained that and if Snuka gets in his way again, Snuka will be laid out again. All of a sudden we see the snake of all snakes appear. It is none other than Skandar Akbar. Lance Russell wants to know what he is doing in Memphis and Akbar responds, Business. Always business, Pencil Nose.” All we see is Warrior and Akbar walk off camera together and we are left wondering what that was all about. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: UWF WORLD 6 MAN TITLE MATCH THE TENNESSEE VOLUNTEER ARMY VS KEVIN VON ERICH, BLACKJACK MULLINGAN AND STAN HANSEN This Tennessee-Texas thing is really exploding and it is hard to say what is kayfabe and what is real. The Tennessee gang plays the heel but receives all the cheers. They are the ones refusing to break cleanly. They are the ones bending the double team rules and they are the ones controlling the match. That is until the big boys got fed up. Mulligan and Hansen are like wild men and it seems like they will retain their titles. That is until Lawler hits the scene. While he doesn’t get physically involved, it is obvious he is in charge. Tommy Rich is in a world of trouble as Hansen hit a major Big Boot. He tags in Kevin who climbs to the top rope and is about to hit a Von Erich Death Leap. He might have been a second too slow and Rich is halfway to his feet. Lawler makes some signal to Jerry Calhoun as VonErich hits Wildfire with the Splash. Their moment propels Rich to the matt and right over on top of VonErich. In what must have been one of the quickest counts in history, Wildfire pins VonErich as Jeff Jarrett goes wild on the microphone. He is so excited for the win by the local boys that he cannot hide any of his biases. Lance Russell: I can guarantee you one thing. Something had to give in the Texas-Tennessee War and tonight, it was the titles! What will happen next? So long from Memphis. Next week we are back in Dallas and we will hear what Fritz has to say
-
I agree with Jack. Best and most complete format we have in the game right now. So well planned.
