  1. If this is ok with everybody, UWF will be adding Nanny Simpson (Toni Adams) to its roster in the spot opened by sending Jimmy Valiant to CCW. I understand that in the game Chris Adams is in the WWF and he was partly responsible for bringing her in to wrestling but she was actually working as a production assistant for Fritz in 1984 and that is where Chris and Toni met so it is in the realm of possibilities that someone else could have used her as a valet. Let me know if this is a problem.
  2. The UWF will be sending Jimmy Valiant to the CCW for future considerations.
  3. The UWF will have to replace Jimmy Snuka as one of its entrants with Hacksaw Jim Duggan due to the recent injury to Superfly
  4. Agree with Gene, your roster has some big names and you have them going strong.
  5. Welcome back! Great show as always. Even when I was a kid, I thought AWA on ESPN did a great show but you have taken it to another level with quality matches throughout the card.
  6. Great show. I found myself rooting for one side or another as I read it. The fans started out having a rough day but ended on a happy note which means they will be back again. I was really hoping for Piper as I just never enjoyed Hogan but I understand that he is the face of the WWF. Would have liked to see Race and Andre get more then 8 minutes. I think Race was still a huge deal and Andre is Andre. Good writing as you gave us some direction towards the future. David Sammartino's chance at Stardom may have ended. Tito and Valentine will feud it out! Maybe Dino Bravo turns? New tag team champs in a crowded division of challengers! The Harts on the rise while the Family must regroup. Nothing against you as I thought this is one of the best shows in the game but it is also why I think I like Southern Wrastlin more then anything even though I am from NY. The pomp and circumstance of the WWF is for some while the drunken bar room brawl of the Southern Promotions is for others.
  7. Great main event for the TV show! All Roads lead to Wrestlemania.
  8. I thought that TV show was great. The set up for the Backlund-Taylor throw down was fun.
  9. Breaking news from the UWF: Jimmy Snuka will be out of action for 4 weeks due to a severely strained calf that he injured during a Superfly Death Leap at a recent house show. He is expected back by May, 1st.
  10. MID-SOUTH WRESTLING: SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA Hello again everybody. Welcome to UWF & Mid-South Wrestling from Shreveport, Louisiana and the Irish McNeil’s Boys Club here on WTBS. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. Jim Ross: Before we get to our first bout we just got to take a look at the video tape and see the main event from Lake Front Arena from this past week. VIDEO MATCH ELIMINATION MATCH HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN VS THE RAT PACK (EMBRY, LANDELL AND DIBIASE) Here we see Duggan’s epic struggle to defeat the entire Rat Pack in one shot and it appears to be going well as he makes quick work of Eric Embry after a big football tackle but after that, the numbers game got to him. Dibiase and Landell seemed to have their way with him. Duggan rallied as Landell went for the Figure 4 but Duggan kicked him off and connected with a suplex for the 3 count. Now we were where everyone hoped we would be. Dugan vs Dibiase! Dibiase plays a little stall game but it didn’t matter. Duggan eventually caught him and connected with some big power moves. Duggan lined up Dibiase for a football tackle but at the last second Dibiase moved away and WHAM! Duggan leveled ref Scrappy McGowen and he was out. Dibiase quickly adjusted the loaded glove and clocked Duggan after Duggan checked on the ref. The rest of the Rat Pack came in and tripled teamed an almost unconscious Hacksaw. Embry connected with a spike piledriver and Dibiase hit a few flying back elbow drops. When the ref finally made it back to the action, Dibiase arrogantly stepped on the chest of Duggan as the ref completed the 3 count. When we come out of the tape we see a smug Dibiase and the rest of the Rat Pack at the interview desk. Dibiase is smiling as he says that Duggan better watch out for what he asks for from now on and that he better think twice before calling out the Rat Pack. Dibiase now switches gears and calls out Duggan and his North American Title. Duggan comes running out swinging his big 2 x 4 and the Rat Pack scamper. Hacksaw Duggan: I am sick and tired of Ted Dibiase and his little tagalongs. It is time for Dibiase to face me where he can’t get any help from his minions. I challenge Ted Dibiase to a Steel Cage match this week in Little Rock for the North American Title! ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- Jim Ross informs us that Ted Dibiase has accepted the Steel Cage Match and that the people in Little Rock better get their tickets now! All of a sudden Ross gets a report that there is a disturbance in the back. By the time a cameraman gets there all we see is Michael Hayes bent over a bloodied Terry Gordy. Gordy is a real mess and when they ask Hayes what happened, Michael is just calling for a doctor and ignores the question. MATCH: THE SHEIKS with Akbar (REED, PATERA & BLACKWELL) VS BRETT SAWYER, MIKE GRAHAM & SWEET BROWN SUGAR The Sheiks destroy their opponents here. The end comes when Crusher Blackwell leaps off the mid-rope with a 420 pound flying elbow on Mike Graham who had just been Gorilla Pressed Slam by Reed. As the Sheiks get to the interview desk, they are asked by Ross if they had anything to with the attack on Terry Gordy. They played it real cool but it was obvious that they did. Hacksaw Reed: While we just feel awful (smile) about what happened to one Mr. Gordy a few minutes ago, I am more interested as to why it was Michael Hayes who came to his rescue and not Mr. Steve “Dr. Death” Williams or Manny “The Raging Bull” Fernandez. I mean those two cats claim to be his partners and that they got each other’s backs but it was Michael Hayes who saved Gordy tonight. I mean those dudes aint got not shot at beating us but if they aint even on the same page, they gonna get seriously hurt! Ernie Ladd boldly predicts that we will see new 6 man champs this week in Little Rock when the Sheiks take on the Miracle Violence Committee. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- Bill Watts is at the interview desk where he informs us that 12 wrestlers, 4 from each UWF territory have been chosen to compete in a tournament to crown the first ever UWF World Heavyweight Champion. He goes on to explain that in each promotion, the 4 wrestlers will face off in two matches and then the two winners will wrestle to decide who will represent them in the 3 Way Dance for the UWF Title Match on May 4th at the David Von Erich Memorial. He goes on to say that these matches will take place next week right here on WTBS. It will be Dusty Rhodes vs Ted Dibiase and Hacksaw Butch Reed vs Hacksaw Jim Duggan! Ernie Ladd and Jim Ross both hype this up but they do not agree on who the winners will be. CHRIS BENOIT VS RUSHER KIMURA Benoit gives it his all but the rookie is just not experienced enough to finish off Kimura. This was Kimura’s first challenge in the UWF but in the end he followed up a double arm suplex with a big running lariat for the victory. Again he angers the fans with the throat slashing kill sign before covering Benoit for the pin. Ross and Ladd both hype the fact that Kimura is undefeated since appearing in the UWF. After the match we see Dusty Rhodes and JYD at the interview desk and they are both hyping up the fact that they are sick and tired of all the nonsense going on around here. They bring up Terry Gordy attacked in the parking lot by the Sheiks. They go into the Rat Pack and Ted Dibiase and his loaded glove along with his cronies, Eric Embry and Buddy Landell. JYD takes control and is howling about how excited he would be if his good pal was to become the 1st ever UWF World Champ! Jim Ross seems also very excited by that possibility but gets us back to the ring where for the second week in a row, we see the Kiwi Sheepherders. MATCH: THE KIWI SHEEPHERDERS (Jonathan Boyd and Rip Morgan) VS Joe Savoldi and Lanny Poffo In typical fashion, the Sheepherders do a great job of getting some heat from the fans and their rough and tumble style does nothing to change this tonight. In the end, they just pummeled their opponents for the victory. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- UWF WORLD TV CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH BILLY JACK HAYNES VS BIG BUBBA RODGERS The UWF rookies have been on a roll of late and this was a huge chance for Rogers to really go over the top. He was very physical here and also very violent. The crowd ended up tiring of his tactics after he refused to break cleanly and caught Hayes with a new to the cut. Haynes had to rally and was eventually able to get the submission with the Oregonian Full Nelson! Jim Ross: So long from Shreveport. Be sure to get out for our next UWF TV taping in Tulsa next week and for those anywhere near New Orleans this week, it is going to be a BIG ONE! SHOW ENDS WITH PROMOS FROM THIS WEEKS BIG CARD NEW ORLEANS. 6 MAN WORLD TITLE BOUT The Miracle Violence Committee vs The Sheiks with Akbar NORTH AMERICAN TITLE BOUT (STEEL CAGE) Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs Ted Dibiase
  11. USWA has Jimmy Valiant, Bobby Jaggers Norvell Austin, Kendo Nagasaki, Fatu, Tonga Kid, Billy Jack, and Manny Fernandez on the block
  12. I really enjoy reading about all of the tournaments in all of the promotions. No difference here! Fun show
  13. Very Smoky Mountainish show here! Love that Ron Starr said that he was the "king" of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Good use of Lawler here!
  14. Great background story. You seem to think of everything.
  15. Personally, I have pushed the envelope when it comes to TV shows in the 1980's where I use it to push feuds towards a major card. Therefore I have many big time matches on TV which is unrealistic for 1985 but it fits my schedule. I would love to see the Royal Rumble and Survivor Series! Again, we are the promoters and who is to say that we could not have come up with some of these ideas in the 1980's. I also agree with others in that we should be as realistic as possible as to when wrestlers are in their prime versus when they are just getting started or are over the hill. I also think we should stay somewhat realistic as to retirement dates and dates of deaths. We all have our own style and that is what makes this fun and I think we are in a good place right now. I also think we are very honest with each other which helps guide us in the right direction. When something seems off, we talk it out.
  16. All set
  17. Every time I read your shows, I realize less is more. You do such a good job a promoting your big house show with your TV show and it just makes perfect sense!
  18. I know many of my TV shows are unrealistic for 1985 but just find it is the only way for me to enjoy this hobby and keep up with all else that life has to offer. Two TV shows is all that fits my schedule right now which makes for a fun read. Maybe I should just hype up more of the big house show of the week and then show more footage from that event. Might be more realistic.
  19. 9:05-10:05 MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE “Yello again everybody. Welcome to UWF and USWA Wrestling from Memphis, Tennessee and the WMC Studio. I am Lance Russell along with Gary Hart. We have a jam packed show tonight but first let’s get to the video tape from this week in Nashville where USWA Champion Kerry Von Erich took on Jimmy Garvin. VIDEO MATCH: USWA CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH KERRY VON ERICH VS JIMMY GARVIN with PRECIOUS With the World Title on the line for Kerry and the service of Precious on the line for Garvin this one is wild from the get go. We get a little ref bump here late as Precious comes into the ring with the loaded purse. Garvin is holding Kerry but he slips out as the last second and Precious knocks her own man out cold. The ref stumbles over and not only does Kerry retain the title, he gets the services of Precious for the next 90 days. When the video ends we see Kerry coming to the interview desk but he is alone. When asked where Precious is, he just laughs. Kerry hypes up his victory and reminds Garvin he should not bet things he can’t afford to lose. He asks everybody to take a look at Precious on the video screen where we see her working at the Von Erich farm. She is cleaning out stalls, milking cows, feeding the chickens and last we see her fall in the slop while tending to the pigs. Everyone has a good laugh except for Ernie Ladd who finds it disgusting how the VonErichs are treating a classy lady like Precious. Kerry tells Ladd not to worry, that Precious will be in the building later when he and Iceman take on Garvin and his new partner, Rip Rogers! ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: UWF WORLD TV TITLE MATCH BILLY JACK HAYNES VS WARRIOR A huge opportunity here for the impressive rookie but it was just a little too soon. The match was full of power moves but in the end, it was Billy Jack’s experience that allowed him to wiggle free before being nailed with a running power slam. He quickly connected with a neckbreaker which softened Warrior up for the Full Nelson for the submission victory. Both men shook hands here as even Ernie Ladd said this rookie has a bright future. MATCH: RUSHER KIMURA VS KING COBRA An almost identical repeat from Kimura’s debut last week here in the USWA. Just a complete massacre of poor, King Cobra. Kimura was very impressive with such moves as a double arm suplex and some massive chops that echoed throughout the building. The end came after Rusher did little to endear him to the USWA fans as he gave the throat slashing kill sign to the crowd before nearly decapitating the young Jimmy Del Ray with a powerful Running Lariat. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- JIMMY SNUKA with Gary Hart VS MIKE JACKSON Pure beating here that ends with a SuperFly Death Leap! At the interview desk, Gary Hart continues to put pressure on Kerry VonErich to give his man a USWA Title Shot! Lance tells Hart he should just sit back and watch the next match and make sure his man is ready for Kerry! This really angered Hart and Snuka! MATCH: RIP ROGERS & JIMMY GARVIN VS KERRY VON ERICH & ICEMAN PARSONS A fun match here that shows Kerry force Precious to hold the ropes down for him to enter. This really got Garvin mad as the heels tried to attack before the bell. Kerry and Iceman were ready for this and handled the onslaught. We get some quick tags once things are settled down but the heels play it real dirty and trap Iceman who takes a good beating. Eventually Kerry comes in like a house afire and catches Rip Rogers with a tornado punch for the victory. Precious just seems to have eyes for Garvin and she looks over her shoulder as she is forced to leave with the winners! WHAM! Snuka is all over Kerry as Hart’s other two monsters, Fatu and the Tonga Kid take care of Iceman. Precious seems to be enjoying this and is having a great laugh! As we go to commercial break, Gary Hart seems to have answered Lance’s question and now everyone is wondering if Kerry is ready for Snuka! ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MAIN EVENT: USWA #1 CONTENDERS MATCH THE ROAD WARRIORS with Paul Ellering VS THE ROCK N ROLL EXPRESS Here we go! These might be the two biggest names in tag team wrestling in the entire world and they are fighting to become the #1 contenders for the UWF World Titles. As the action begins, Lance Russell does inform us that we only have about 10 minutes left in today’s show. The match is like three different matches all in one. First we see the Rock n Roll Express running the ropes and doing their best to keep their distance from the Road Warriors. In part two, we see the Rock n Roll Express to continue with the advantage but now they are doing their best to neutralize the power of the Road Warriors with some arm bars and leg locks. Eventually the Road Warriors catch the Express being a little too cute and this is where the power goes on display. Clotheslines, body slams, Ax Handle Smashes. It was just brutal but what was so amazing that the Rock n Roll Express manages to make save after save. With about one minute left in the show, Morton made his customary tag to Gibson who comes in like a house afire but after a few drop kicks, Animal recovers enough to simply catch him. He tags in Hawk who climbs to the top rope and with his signature top rope leaping clothesline, Gibson crashes to the mat right on his head. Morton is still too hurt to make the save and the Road Warriors are the new #1 contenders for the title! Lance Russell: So long from Tulsa. Don’t forget to join us this week in San Antonio where the Main Event has just been signed. It will be Jimmy Snuka, Fatu and Tonga Kid with Gary Hart vs the VonErichs
  20. Just love the tiered structure which makes booking somewhat easier. This is going to be be great!
  21. Great show as always! Love Jesse Anderson! When you need something, just create it!
  22. Love the part with the crowd chanting Lutte! You guys are too funny.
  23. Great thought process here! You really worked your angles all the way through with the building up of the arrival of the Machines as well as getting some more depth to your tag team division.
  24. The Jasper fans go home happy with an Armstrong win! Good luck to the marching band.
  25. Now I admit I have never heard of Cullman, Alabama but that has to be the best show ever there. A grudge match,a Pearl Harbor attack by the Andersons, HTM and the "papers," and then those two main events with a title change! Such a fun show. Please start to use some of the UFW titles as I can't wait to see what yo have instore for them.
