Looking forward to Meltdown. Spivey just became a real contender in my eyes. I always looked at him as an extra in this feud but the powerbomb on Steamboat. Nothing against your show but this is about the time I started to lose interest in wrestling. I blame the WWF for this in real life as they went for the entertainment side of the business vs the feuds and brawls of the southern promotions. Things like clowns and guitars began to turn me off. Don't get me wrong. I think you are doing a great job as we head out of the era I liked into something different. I also really disliked ECW and the chaos of their classless, out of control fans and wrestlers.... I mean it was just what you would expect from something in Philadelphia. That being said, seeing the Nasty Boys being the big news by Sherri was somewhat disappointing. I hope Hacksaw gets some real revenge. Please don't take my comments the wrong way. You are doing an awesome job of capturing the national, entertaining feel of the late 80's. I just wish cable tv and the WWF never ruined what I loved.

very interesting! A nice addition to our game.

Mid-South releases Jeff Gaylord and adds Kendo Nagasaki and Mr. Pogo

Fun 1/2 Power show this week. I think you have hit the nail on the head by using Humperdink as a wrestler. The heat he is going to get is going to be hige! Nice to see Jackie Fargo...I wonder what is next here. Never trust someone who gave someone else an envelop. Another interesting development. So much in this show and now we have to wait for the big one in the Fairgrounds.

I thought having Brenda come out for 3 Wrestlerock promos was a great way to hype up the big show. You've really developed all of these angles so well. Can't wait for the big payoff.

THE JULY 4th THE LOUISIANA SUPERDOME NEW OREANS, LOUISIANA The Grappler vs Scott Steiner (subbing for Manny Fernandez who no showed) The word is that Manny Fernandez was frustrated in being the opener so he simply refused to come. This appears to be the last straw between Ernie Ladd and the Ragging Bull. Lucky for everyone that Scott had come to watch his brother in action, so he was here to take over. Scott again continued to impress tonight as he got the hard-fought victory against the masked man with the end coming from by way of the powerslam. “Hollywood” John Tatum & Jack Victory with Missy Hyatt vs Sweet Brown Sugar & Shaun Simpson This bout showed just how annoying Tatum could be. From playing the delay come to whining to the ref to berating the crowd, Hollywood was able to bring the heat. This just made the moments when SBS or Shaun Simpson had the advantage that much better for the crowd. Unfortunately, Missy Hyatt refused to see her team lose as she tripped up Simpson which allowed Tatum to catch him with a superkick and get the win for the heels. UNITED STATES WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIP Wendy Richter © vs Medusa Micelli This was an eye opener for many of the fans who were not too familiar with women’s wrestling as these two ladies put on a great show. Both Richter and Medusa bumped and sold all over the ring with many false finishes and near pins. Eventually, we see Medusa connect with back to back snap suplexes which she finally was able to roll into a pin and become the new United States Women’s Champion. MID-SOUTH TAG TEAM TTILE MATCH: The Barbarians (Konga & Nord) © with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie vs The Texas Outlaws (Stan Hansen & Dick Murdoch) After the last brawl between these two teams, everyone knew that the rule book was going to be thrown out and that anything was possible. The end came with all 4 men in the ring and Sheik trying his best to interfere. With Sheik up on the apron, he clobbered Stan Hansen from behind who was brawling with Konga at the time. Hansen just No Sold the blow from the Sheik and turned and connect with the big lariat. This sent the Sheik flying to the floor with his Arabian headdress rocketing off his head towards the crowd. WHAM…at the same time, Dick Murdoch hoisted up Nord and executed a nasty brainbuster for the win. The ref completed the three count and for the second straight match, the ring announcer began his call with… AND NEW CHAMPIONS! For those in the know around Mid-South Wrestling, rumor has it that they allowed Dick Murdoch to get the win here as a token of their appreciation for his years of loyalty to the promotion. It is very interesting the respect that Murdoch and Ladd have for each considering their philosophical differences on life. MID-SOUTH TELEVISION TITLE MATCH Rick Steiner © vs “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert with Missy Hyatt Eddie Gilbert has no business winning this match… except for the fact that Missy Hyatt always has a plan. This time the plan is simple. Distract everyone with Hollywood John Tatum and Jack Victory. The problem was that she never planned for Scott Steiner to be in the building. As Tatum and Victory head to the ring, they are attacked from behind by Scott Steiner. The brawl is ragging in the aisle which seems to distract the ref. He turns to see what is going on as Missy jumps up on the apron. She starts to swing her loaded purse as Rick’s head. The ref turns just in time and grabs the purse from Missy. He looks in and sees the brick and orders Missy to the locker room. She argues but as he threatens to disqualify Eddie, she hops down from the apron and heads for the hills. WHAM…Eddie Gilbert with the brass knuckles KO’s Rick Steiner. He quickly puts the knucks back in his trunks and goes for the cover. The ref turns and sees Gilbert going for the pin and starts the count. 1…2…3! And for the third match in a row, we have a new champion. With all the chaos at the end of this match, not everyone saw exactly what happened. You had some looking at Scott Steiner brawling with Tatum and Victory. Some fans were watching the altercation between Missy and the ref. All of this allowed Hot Stuff to connect with a low blow kick on Rick Steiner before reaching into his trunks for the brass knuckles. Hot Stuff Inc continue to prove just how dangerous they are and now I’m sure they will have no problem reminding us week after week as Eddie is now the face of the franchise as he is the Mid-South Television Champion. LOUISIANA HEAYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase with Sheik Al Kassie No sense getting into too much detail here. With these two names, we know it was an instant classic as they can both do it all. In the end, it seems like Sheik was trying to get a message to his man but when Dibiase turned to the Sheik, it gave Dr. Death all the time he needed as he hit the Oklahoma Stampede on Dibiase for the win. SEMI-MAIN EVENT: GRUDGE MATCH The Nation (Snowman & Karem Muhammed) vs Hacksaw Butch Reed & “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes With these four men and the overall hatred between Reed and Snowman, we can again throw out the rule book here. We get a huge brawl and the moment of the night which everyone will be talking about for years to come. Hacksaw Butch Reed had just done a good job of playing the face in peril and makes the hot tag to The American Dream. Dusty goes to work first on the Snowman and then on Muhammed. He is throwing punch after punch. He is spinning his fists like he is working their heads like a speed bag. Next comes the bionic elbows on both members of the Nation. Reed has recovered and has joined in on the brawl. Muhammed has fallen through the ropes out onto the floor and Snowman is down from the last bionic elbow. The American Dream points to the ropes and the Hacksaw begins to climb to the top. The fans are screaming as they know what is coming… The Top Rope Shoulder Block. This will be the end of the Snowman. WHAM… Reed leaps off with the Top Rope Shoulder Block on …. the American Dream. Yes… I said the American Dream! Reed has just turned on Dusty Rhodes. Reed is now beating Rhodes from pillar to post. Dusty is a bloody mess. Snowman and Muhammed now join in on the attack. The ref has no idea what to do but calls for the bell anyway as Rhodes can’t fight back. Nobody ever announced a decision on the match and nobody in the audience cared. It was the carnage of seeing the beating that Rhodes took that would be etched in the memory of all the fans. Eventually, the crowd starts to stir as The Texas Outlaws, Dick Murdoch and Stan Hansen hit the ring to chase The Nation away and check on Dusty. Some were heard murmuring on their way out of the Superdome that seeing Hacksaw Reed walking out with Snowman and Muhammed was the most disgusting thing they had ever seen. MAIN EVENT: LOSER-LEAVE TOWN-STEEL CAGE FOR THE MID-SOUTH TITLE: Lex Luger © with Woman vs Vader- The lowering of the cage gave the fans time to regroup and process what they had just seen. While this match we for the Mid-South Title and being a loser-leave town match in a steel cage, the fans had some trouble getting into it. That doesn’t mean that Lex and Vader did not put on a great show because they did. It was just that the fans heads were elsewhere. They had just seen one of the biggest fan favorites jump to the Nation. As for this match, Lex found a way to survive the monster that is Vader when Vader rushed in full force in an attempt to squash the champion against the steel mesh, but Luger moved just in time. This allowed him the time he needed to escape through the cage door and out on to the floor for the victory…. The coward’s way to win a steel cage match. What a night. Three new champions. Vader is forced to leave Mid-South Wrestling. Dr. D and the Million Dollar Man put on a classic… yet… all anyone can talk about is Hacksaw Butch Reed.

To be considered a rookie, they only need to be active so those that you found would be active. We would just need to see those matches listed on wrestlingdata.com or cagematch.com.

Looking forward to Meltdown. Steamboat-Savage-Spivey has been really fun

Really looking forward to the Great American Bash. The Rock n Roll Express vs The Andersons will be great. I think Michael Hayes back in the NWA gives you an awesome mouth piece. What he lacked in the ring he more than made up for it on the mic. He will add a lot to your shows. Col. DeBeers as the U.S. Champion is a great way to bring him even more heat. Great booking.

CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ASSOCIATION: EPISODE #16: June 24, 1988 The traditional CWA opening is played with some music being played as we see all the big stars of Memphis past hitting big moves. One exception is there is no Jerry “The King” Lawler in the intro. (As the show starts, with see Lance Russell and Dutch Mantell and Jeff Gaylord, Dutch Mantell’s bodyguard) Lance Russell: Yeeellow Everybody. Lance Rusell alongside Dirty Dutch Mantell. Fans, welcome to another great edition of championship wrestling. This is professional wrestling like it used to be and the way you like it. Before we get to tonight’s show, we must talk about the great event this past Monday night at the Mid-South Coliseum. Dutch: Great? Speak for yourself. This past Monday was just another example of the miscarriage of justice that Jerry Jarrett allows here in Championship Wrestling. Lance: On come on now Dutch. Your just upset that you and Jeff Gaylord lost to the Lightening Express and now you aren’t a part of the tournament to crown the new Southern Tag Team Champions. Dutch: Lost? The only way I’d ever lose to those two pretty boys, Brad Armstrong and Tim Horner is if they cheated and that’s exactly what they did. Armstrong grabbed a hold of my trunks! Lance: Well, we’ll just have to agree to disagree but what I really wanted to talk about was Tommy Rich coming out in a dress and distracting Dick Slater. This might just have cost Slater the Southern Heavyweight Championship against Buddy Landel. Dutch: What did you expect Tommy to do? I mean Dirty Dick Slater hired a hit me to take him out. Tommy just wanted to come watch a great night of wrestling and he had to come in disguise. Disgusting. Lance: Well you got a point there Dutch. That man that came after Tommy Monday night was some are Dutch: This is ridiculous. Good people like Tommy Rich have to run for their lives here in Championship Wrestling but Dick Slater and his hired gun are allowed to run around here and literally break the law. I wonder what Jerry Jarrett has to say about this. Lance: You can ask him right now as Jerry is coming out with a few big pieces of information including some developments in the Dick Slater-Tommy Rich situation and the Southern Tag Team Tournament to be held in just a few weeks on July 17th at the Mid-South Coliseum. Dutch: Not sure I want to talk to Jarrett at all and I know I will be far from the Mid-South Coliseum of July 17th. I don’t want to be anywhere near that farce of a tournament. I mean I should just be handed the titles! Lance: Jerry, I can see I’m not getting anywhere with Dutch today maybe you can give it a shot. Jerry Jarrett: Not sure I can do that but what we did do here in Championship Wrestling was realize that the situation between Dick Slater and Tommy Rich is getting out of hand. Myself, Eddie Marling, other members of the board of directors of Championship Wrestling and members of the Tennessee Athletic Commission had a meeting with both Dick and Tommy this past Wednesday where we came to a few understandings. First, Tommy Rich is now under contract here at Championship Wrestling. Dutch: Well it’s about darn time. Jerry Jarrett: Second, now that Tommy Rich is under with us, and I am the match maker, I have guaranteed Dick that he will have a real match with Tommy Rich in the near future. Since I guaranteed that this match will happen, Dick Slater has agreed to call off the bounty on Tommy Rich. That means that the huge black man you saw coming after Tommy Rich last week in the Mid-South Coliseum won’t be doing that again. Also, since Tommy Rich has clearly interfered in the last two Southern Heavyweight Title matches between “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel and Dick Slater, I have scheduled a third match between these two wrestlers and this match is going to take place today… right here on TV! Lance: Oh my… what a main event that’ll be and now that Tommy is under contract, I’m sure Eddie Marlin has the power to fine him heavily if he interferes again. Jerry Jarrett: That’s right Lance. Now, on to the Southern Tag Team Tournament on July 17th. We already have 5 teams in the tournament. The #1 seeds, “Superstar” Bill Dundee and “The Fab One” Steve Keirn, “The Russians” Boris Zhukov and Soldat Ustinov, “The Lightening Express” Tim Horner and Brad Armstrong, The Assassins and the team from Japan which I’ll have more information on next week. Now folks, this had been the week of meetings let me tell you. I also met with Ernie Ladd, President of Mid-South Wrestling and Ted Turner, the CEO of Superstation 17. As you know both Championship Wrestling from Memphis and Mid-South Wrestling are shown on Superstation 17 and we have worked out an agreement to share talent from time to time. So, the 6th tag team in the tournament will be whoever is the Mid-South Tag Team Champions as of July 17th. Right now, that is the devastating tag team of the Barbarians managed by Sheik Adnan Al Kassie but the Barbarians do have a huge match in the Superdome on July 4th against the Texas Outlaws, Dick Murdoch and Stan Hansen. Lance: Wow… the two biggest Southern Wrestling Promotions coming together. This is going to be huge for the sport of wrestling. Jerry Jarrett: That’s for sure Lance. Now one person who might not be too happy about how the tournament is shaping up is Ron Wright. I know that he thinks his team, Devil’s Duo, should be in but I have actually never seen them wrestle. So today, Ron, this is your one and only chance for Devil’s Duo to be in the tournament. I have set up a match for them on this show against The Lightening Express. If they win, they’re in. If they lose, they’re out. Now Ron, I know you’re back there and I don’t need you wheeling out here now with all kinds of excuses. This is your one shot! Lance: Jerry, that is why Championship Wrestling is the very best. Two great matches for us today. Jerry Jarrett: That’s not all. Terry Gordy will also be in action against the big Russin, Soldat Ustinov and Rip Rogers and his valet will be in action against Jimmy Del Ray. Lance: This is going to be some show. Dutch, what do you think. You’ve been very quiet. Dutch: Oh no you want my opinion. Let’s just get to the ring. MATCH #1 “Freebird” Terry Gordy defeats Soldat Ustinov with a running powerslam After the match, Gordy gives another promo about how he is waiting for a Southern Heavyweight Title match and that everybody knows that they’re aint a man alive that can beat him one on one. A quick promo from Superstar Bill Dundee and The Fab One Steve Keirn follows to hype up the upcoming Southern Tag Team Tournament and about how they are the #1 seed. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville When we come out of break, Ron Wright is at the podium with two wrestler’s, presumable Devil’s Duo. Lance: Well it seems that Jerry Jarrett has given you an ultimatum. Devil’s Duo faces The Lightening Express and if they win, they are in the Southern Tag Team Tournament. Ron Wright: Now aint this just a crock of you know what. I mean didn’t we just see the Lightening Express cheat their way to victory on Monday and keep the honorable Dutch Mantel and his bodyguard Jeff Gaylord out of the tournament. I think the refs, Jerry Jarrett and the Lightening Express are all in cahoots around here. Dutch: Finally, somebody who makes sense around here. Lance: And I’m guessing these two gentlemen are Devil’s Duo? Dutch: Well look who just woke up. Of course they’re Devil’s Duo. I mean how dumb are you Lance. Lance: Well how I’m supposed to know. Last week they were out here in masks. I’ve never seen them before. As a matter of fact, I don’t think anyone in Memphis has ever seen them before. Ron Wright: And that’s another thing. Why do I, the honorable leader of the Christian Wrestler’s Association have to put my men in action before they are allowed in the tournament and allow everyone else to get a scout in on them. I mean does anyone around here care if I ever get up outta this here chair and walk again. I am in desperate need of some money. Dutch: Speaking of money, how are the donations for the Ron Wright Fund going. I know I sent in my money. Ron Wright: Well Dutch, you might be the only one. Please people, sent in your $5 donations. I really need to have these here surgeries on my hips and knees. I’ve given my life to trying to cleanning up this sport of rasstlin. The least you all could do here in the Bible Belt is send me, the leader of the Christian Wrestler’s Association. a few dollars. Dutch: I agree with you Ron. Now good luck later tonight but I just want to warn you, the Lightening Express are two of the dirtiest wrestlers in the game. Be careful! Lance: Oh brother. I can’t listen to this anymore. Let’s get back to the ring. MATCH #2 Southern Heavyweight Title Match “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel © vs “The Rebel” Dick Slater This match has the champion in a lot of trouble. No matter how dirty Landel wants to be, Slater is dirtier. Landel seems to be one step behind Slater for most of the match and when Slater sets up Landel for the piledriver, Lance Russell seems convinced we are about to have a new champion. Wham… from behind. It’s Tommy Rich with a big right hand to the back of Slater’s head. Lance: Here we go again. Tommy Rich has ruined another title shot for Dick Slater. The ref is calling for the bell. By golly when will it end. Tommy Rich and Buddy Landel work over Slater for a minute before a frustrated Lance brings us to break. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville When we come out of break a fuming Jerry Jarrett is back out with Lance. He quickly announces that Tommy Rich has been fined $500 and suspended for a week without pay. Lance and the crowd seem to like this but Dick Slater rushes out and he is white hot! Dick Slater: Jarrett, you told me this week that you had this under control. You told me that Tommy Rich would no longer be a problem. You told me to call of the hired guns. You told me to send Mr. Hughes home and to end my bounty. Well look where that got me. The same result. A third title match and a third DQ because of Tommy Rich. Jerry Jarrett: Dick, I truly am sorry. This time though, because he is now under contract here at Championship Wrestling, he has been fined and suspended. Dick Slater: Fined? You fined a former world champion $500. What do you think $500 means to Tommy Rich. Nothing! Jerry Jarrett: You do have a point. I can also give you another title shot against Mr. Landel. Dick Slater: For Tommy to just interfere in another match. I want Tommy Rich and Buddy Landel in the ring together, at the same time against me and a partner of my choosing. This way, we can take care of both Landel and Tommy Rich at the same time. And I want that match, right here on TV next week! Jerry Jarrett: I can make that match happen, but it will have to be in two weeks as Tommy is suspended for next week’s show. Dick Slater: Deal! And next week, I will bring in my tag team partner. Landel…. Rich…. Be very afraid! Match #3 The Devil’s Duo with Ron Wright vs The Lightening Express If Devil’s Duo wins, they earn a spot in the Southern Tag Team Tournament. Throughout the match, Lance Russell has no choice but to give Devil’s Duo some credit as they are more than holding their own against the highly touted Lightening Express. Just as it seemed like the Express were ready to take over, the Dirty White Boy comes down to the ring and starts screaming at Brad Armstrong who looked set to hit the Russian Legsweep on Devil #1. Brad heads over to the ropes and has words with DWB. This gives Devil #1 time to pull out the mask that he was wearing last week which was hidden in his trunks. Devil #1 loads that mask with some sort of bulky metal object. The crowd is screaming to both Brad and the ref about what is going on behind them. Brad begins to refocus and turns back to the action. The ref is still having words with DWB. WHAM… Devil #1 used the loaded mask like a hammer and nailed Brad Armstrong! Brad went down like a sack of potatoes and #1 quickly covered Brad for the win. While Dutch is hyping Devil’s Duo, Lance is muttering that he should have known that Ron Wright would find a way around the rules. Interesting things here was that The Bullet, Bob Armstrong rushed out and had some serious words for DWB. After the bout, Rip Rogers and Teri come to the podium and brag about how they chased Exotic Adrian Street and Ms. Linda away in just a matter of weeks. Rip goes on to explain that the last time he saw Ms. Linda she was running out of Mid-South Coliseum so fast, she might have broken an Olympic record. Dutch reminded Lance that Ms. Linda was running so fast because Teri was chasing. Rip smirks and asks Teri to hit a bicep pose to remind Ms. Linda what will happen if they are come back. Lance: Alright everyone. You’ve had your fun. Need I remind you that it was Exotic Adrian Street who beat you with the sleeper hold in Mid-South Coliseum last week. You’re acting like it was the other way around. Rip Rogers: Lance… I admit I lost a little focus last week. I mean, heck, who wouldn’t. I was watching the most gorgeous woman in the world, Teri, running around Mid-South Coliseum trying to protect me after Ms. Linda sprayed some rat poison at me during the match. Lance: Well, I do believe it was perfume and not rat poison, but you do have a point about people watching Teri in action. Anyhow, I do want to inform you that Adrian and Ms. Linda are still with Championship Wrestling but have to be out of town this week as they have official business with the Queen of England. They have sent you a short video clip in case you’ve missed them too much. Video Clip: Exotic Adrian: (with his hair in 3 different ponytails and the flag of Great Britain painted on his forehead) Oh Rip, I am so happy you woke up from your peaceful slumber. Please give that she-man with all the muscles who follows you to the ring my best. Sorry we couldn’t be their today but I’m the Exotic One from Great Britain and when you are as unique as me, people want to see me and that includes the Queen of England. Now I know that you wish I was out of wrestling instead of in England but don’t you worry. I will be back soon. I will not forget that you tried to injure me with some sort of metal object. When I’m finished with you and that fleabag security guard of yours … you both might find yourselves out of wrestling. Lance: What do you think about that Rip. Teri (taking over the interview): I think Exotic Adrian and Miss Linda are nothing more then two cowardly little girls in hiding. There are as likely to be with the Queen England as Rip and I would be cleaning out a pig pen with the rest of the ugly people here in Tennessee. If and when they come back, we’ll prove that we are not only the hotter couple but the tougher couple. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Match #4 TV TIME REMAINING Jeff Jarrett defeats Trent Knight with the Figure Four Lance Russell: Folks, we are just about out of time. Make sure to tune in next week where we will find out who Dick Slater’s partner will be when he squares off against “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel and “Wildfire” Tommy Rich. Also, this just handed to me a minute ago. Our main event next week will be Devil’s Duo with The Dirty White Boy in 6 Man Tag team action against the Lightening Express and “The Bullet” Bob Armstrong. That’ll be one dandy of a show. Bye bye for now everybody.

Yes, I will add them both.

Really looking forward to WrestleRock. Great preview show again. WOW!!! Lonny looked good.

Awesome job with the Dark Journey angle. The American and the Cuban Assassin- Sounds like a money maker to me. Interesting talk about certain moves being legal and not legal. Wonder if this is just part of a promo or there is more to this. We will see. July 4th is going to be awesome.

Mid-South Wrestling 1988: Episode #24: June 24, 1988 PREVIEW SHOW FOR REVOLUTION II: THE JULY 4th SPECTACULAR AT THE LOUISIANA SUPERDOME (I have decided to go with this format as many of the matches for the Superdome are ready to go and don’t need anything else to hype them up. If this was a regular show, there would be some squash matches, promos to hype up the angle and maybe a brawl or two to get the fans to that feverish level. I have decided to save some time and complete only the angles that need it and to just list the matches ready to go. LOSER-LEAVE TOWN-STEEL CAGE FOR THE MID-SOUTH TITLE: Lex Luger © with Woman vs Vader- Over the past 2 years, we have seen Woman basically manipulate Vader any way she wanted. He was her trainee; her protegee, her protector, her scapegoat, and more recently, the problem solver for her Mid-South Champion Lex Luger. Manny Fernandez recently came to Mid-South and opened the eyes of Vader on how he was being used by Woman and Lex Luger. Vader split from Woman and recently has been on a monstrous role that has actually seen Woman and Lex running for their lives. Well, there is no place to run. It will be Lex and Vader inside of a steel cage. Only one will survive. Who will be the champion and who will be leaving Mid-South after the Superdome. Will “The Total Package” still be the champion or will the new monster, Vader, start his first Mid-South title reign. Only time will tell. LOUISIANA HEAYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Dr. Death Steve Williams © vs “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie: Last month, at Lakefront Arena, Dr. Death took the title off his old tag team partner. Dibiase, who was given a million-dollar contract last year from the Sheik, seems frustrated by the constant “helping” from his stablemates and is committed to get his title back on his own. This might sound all well and good but there might be a few problems with this plan. First problem being Dr. Death himself. He has lost less than a handful of matches over the last two years and when he does lose, there always seemed to be some questionable tactics. Second problem might just be Ted Dibiase. Some say the former champ has gotten a little soft in the past year as there was always someone there to ensure victory along the way. This match will be interesting. Will Dibiase stay the course and do this all on his own. Will Dr. Death be unstoppable in a one-on-one match or maybe this is just a charade by Dibiase. Dr. Death better expect the unexpected here as Dibiase and the Sheik should never be trusted. Some many questions to be answered in this one but we will soon find out. MID-SOUTH TAG TEAM TTILE MATCH: The Sheik is once again in charge of the champs in this one as it will be his Barbarians, Nord and Konga, taking on the Texas Outlaws, Stan Hansen and Dick Murdoch. One thing for certain is that once the bell has rung, it will be hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys. This is going to be a brawl from the opening bell. Throw out the rule book here. You can also throwout the odds maker as this one could go either way. Both Murdoch and Hansen have pinned the Barbarians in singles competition while The Barbarians were very lucky to escape with the tag team belts after the two teams met last month in Lakefront Arena. Mid-South Wrestling is known for its brawls and this one is sure to be a great one. MID-SOUTH TELEVISION TITLE MATCH Ego vs youthful exuberance. Skill vs sneakiness. Power vs beauty. Expect the unexpected in this one. On paper, Rick Steiner seems to have the advantage in almost every category over his former tag team partner and mentor “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert. Everything that is except for Missy Hyatt. The self-proclaimed Queen of Mid-South Wrestling is one of the dirtiest players in all of wrestling. Both Tom Prichard and Michael Hayes thought they had Eddie right where they wanted him only to be injured and out of Mid-South in the turn of a busty blonde eyelash. Spending most of the last year in Hot Stuff Inc., Steiner has witnessed the treachery up close but that does not mean he could not fall victim to it. Steiner is stronger, faster and more technically sound but nobody should be shocked in Missy and Eddy find a way out of this one with the gold around his waist. THE NATION OF DOMINATION VS HACKSAW BUTCH REED AND ? Ever sense his arrival in Mid-South about three months ago, Snowman has gone around spewing his Black Power talk to anyone who would listen. He called out both Hacksaw Butch Reed and Mid-South President Ernie Ladd as Uncle Tom’s. He made sure to keep Hacksaw Butch Reed from winning the Mid-South Title from Lex luger as he interfered in back-to-back matches at Lakefront Arena. A few weeks ago, it seemed like Hacksaw was going to get his revenge on Snowman as the two were set to go face to face in the main event on SuperStation 17. Unfortunately for Reed, Snowman had back-up for that match as Kareem Muhammed attacked Reed during the match. This 2-1 attack on Reed marked the rebirth of the Nation of Domination. It also marked the beginning of JYD and Reed being on the same page. JYD rushed out to the aid of Hacksaw Buch Reed but, he too was left beaten in the center of the ring. This was only the beginning of the problems for Reed and JYD. The following week, they were set to face the Nation of Domination in another main event match. As the bout was set to begin, JYD was nowhere to be found. Reed agreed to take on the Nation by himself. Reed started out okay but soon wore down. This is when the crowd erupted as JYD made his way to the ring. This excitement soon turned to concern as the Dog was staggering to the ring with blood trickling down his face. It was obvious that JYD had suffered some sort of attack prior to the match. Once again, JYD and Hacksaw Butch Reed suffered a severe beat down in this match. In fact, JYD was the victim of 3 straight powerbombs by Muhammed which Reed never saw. This is when The Texas Outlaws rushed the ring, threw in the white towel and chased The Nation of Domination away. The problem was that it was too late. The show went over the air with the scary site of JYD convulsing in the middle of the ring. That brings us to this week where Ernie Ladd comes out with Hacksaw Butch Reed and announces that he has some bad news. He goes on to explain that as a result of what happened last week, JYD is going to be out of action for quite some time as he suffered broken ribs, a concussion and has internal bleeding. He went on to say that JYD is in good hands at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. Ladd gives the address of the hospital and tells fans to send their cards and well wishes to JYD who could really use their support at this time. Gordon Solie asked Ladd if he had any information on what happened to Junkyard Dog before the match. Ladd said that JYD still isn’t up to talking. Ladd went on to explain that if he finds out that Snowman or Kareem Muhammed had anything to do with the attack, they would be severely punished. Next, Gordon wonders what is going to happen at Revolution II as JYD was going to team with Hacksaw in the Superdome against the Nation of Domination. Reed starts screaming about what lowlifes the Nation is and how he is ready to take them on all by himself again. He vows to make sure that both Snowman and Muhammed will be lying in a hospital bed just like his good pal JYD. Ernie Ladd loves Reed’s passion and explains that went he first heard from the doctors about how severe JYD’s injuries were, he knew he needed to find Hacksaw the best tag team partner to take care of the Nation of Domination in the Superdome! Ladd goes on to say that he new exactly who to call and when he explained the situation to this person, he said he would come running to help Hacksaw as there’s no place in this sport for people like Snowman and Muhammed. Ladd says this person needs no introduction and as this mystery person appears from behind the curtain, the crowd EXPLODES… Gordon Solie: Well, I don’t believe it… look who’s here in Louisiana… it’s … THE AMERICAN DREAM! DUSTY RHODES. Dusty comes out wearing jeans, sunglasses, a tee shirt and cowboy hat. He goes right over to Hacksaw Reed and gives him a big embrace. Reed is smiling from ear to ear. Dusty Rhodes: Ya know Gordon… when Ernie Ladd first called, I nearly hung up the phone. Ya see, me and the Big Cat aint always been on the same page. Erne said… Dream.. hang on just a moment and I’m so glaaad I did. When he explained what Snowman and Kareem Muhammed did to my old pal, JYD, I said give me 5 minutes and I’ll be there. Now I got here and saw the tape of JYD shaking on the floor last week and then being rushed to the hospital. The American Dream started feeling a little iiilllllll. Now Hacksaw, I look at you and I start to feel a little bit better. You are the superpower if you willlll baaabbby … it will be you and me getting revenge on the Nation of Domin-ayyy-tion. We will be trying to right the wrong for the Dog! I promise you two maggots that your dirty deed won’t go unpunished. When the Nation of Domin-ayyyy-tion meets the Super Freak and the Dream in the Superdome in New Orleans… BRO-ther Hacksaw….dues will be paid. Gordon, Ernie Ladd and Hacksaw Reed hype of the arrival of Dusty Rhodes and the match between Reed and Dusty vs the Nation of Domination. THE WOMEN ARE IN THE SUPERDOME Medusa got another win this week on TV and was with Gordon Solie giving another “how great it is to be here” promo when she is confronted by the most recognizable face in all of women’s wrestling… Wendy Richter. Richter comes out wearing a blue top with a championship belt around her waist. Richter praises Medusa for all she has done here in Mid-South and it seems like the two are old friends. This all changed when Richter quickly changes her tone and let’s everyone know that Medusa is here because she ran out of Wonder Woman’s Wrestling because she knew that she couldn’t beat her. Wendy goes on to explain that she waited and waited for Medusa’s return but when she realized Medusa wasn’t coming back, she came to find her. Medusa gets right in her face and asked Wendy when was the last time she wrestled on TV… she goes on to explain that here in Mid-South she has been facing the toughest women in the sport week and week while Wendy was sitting home waiting for the WWW to call her for a match. Medusa explains to everyone that Richter is the United States Woman’s Champion in name only and if Richter dares to wrestle her in the Superdome, she will take that title off her. This challenge was quickly accepted, and we just got another title match for July 4th! OTHER MATCHES ON THE CARD “Hollywood” John Tatum & Jack Victory with Missy Hyatt vs Scott Steiner & The Ragging Bull Many Fernandez The Grappler vs Sweet Brown Sugar

Love the finish of the Ash-Rose match. This must have had the fans going nuts in Jonesboro.
-
Good week for the NWA but I am really looking forward to next week with Michael Hayes!!! I can't wait to see what you do with Tully and Brody. So many cool options at this stage of the game for both of them.

I think the hardest shows to write are the ones just before a big show. Most of our angles are set and there isn't much to do but repeat yourself. You do an awesome job with these shows with such entertaining things as Brenda and Gerry giving awesome promos and big brawls like Bad News and Nikita. While the entire card at WrestleRock is awesome, I am really into Idol and Poffo, Larry Z's match and the big title match. This is going to be awesome! Plus LONNY ANDERSON. I think I watched hours of WKRP in Cincinnati just to see her! I hope you add a nice picture.

I think it is smart to use Konnan as part of the 6 man scene. He still has a long way to go before he is ready to get big time attention. Savage vs Steamboat vs Spivey is interesting. To me Savage is Steamboat is the real match but if Spivey somehow wins vs Savage, that main event could lose a little stem. I might have to agree with Slick about how the rockers are only teenie boppers but they do sell some major tickets! July 4th is a big show for where WCW goes in the future. Looking forward to it.

I love anything with Humperdink. Scaffold match coming up. This could be the talk of Arkansas for a while. Ash is dong a good job of getting heat. He is a perfect champion for your promotion. Looking forward to Jonesboro!

Mid-South Wrestling 1988: Episode #23: June 17, 1988 Gordon Solie: Thank you so very, very much indeed for tuning into another episode of Mid-South Wrestling, a symbol of wrestling excellence where you are guaranteed to see the very best there is in professional wrestling. I’m Gordon Solie and it is my pleasure to be coming to you today from the Riverside Centroplex in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We’ve got a great show for you today but before we get to that, we must first go back to last Saturday and how our show ended. We see a VTR of the end of last week’s show where Snowman interfered in a match between Kareen Muhammed and Hacksaw Butch Reed. After Snowman and Muhammed gave Reed a good beating, JYD rushed in to make the save. The problem was that it was too late and now JYD suffered at the hands of Snowman and Muhammed. The show ended with Reed and JYD down and Snowman and Muhammed in complete control of the situation. Gordon: Folks, while what you did just see was a complete miscarriage of justice, there is some good news. Both Hacksaw Butch Reed and Junkyard Dog did not sustain any long-term injuries. In fact, Hacksaw and JYD will be seeking revenge today for that attack as they will face Snowman and Kareem Muhammed in our main event a little later on. That’s not all, Medusa Micelli will be back in action today as she takes on one of the most dangerous women in the world, Judy Martin. “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase will be in action against Caleb Johnson. Vader, trying to get ready for his Loser-Leave-Town Steel Cage Match for the Mid-South Title against Lex Luger will be in a Handicap Match against Moondog Moretti and Roger Smith. The Steiner Brothers will square off against Hot Stuff Inc members “Hollywood” John Tatum and Jack Victory. I hope Missy Hyatt and Eddie Gilbert keep their distance in this one. We will also hear from The Texas Outlaws, and the Mid-South Champion, Lex Luger. Ernie Ladd will be here with an update on the Second Revolution at the Louisiana Superdome on July 4th. Already signed for this huge card are 4 huge title matches. Mid-South Television Title Match Rick Steiner © vs “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert with Missy Hyatt Return Bout for the Mid-South Tag Team Titles The Barbarians (Konga & Nord) with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie © vs The Texas Outlaws (Murdoch & Hansen) Mid-South Louisiana Title Match (Contractually Guaranteed Rematch when a Title Changes Hands) “Dr. Death” Steve Williams © vs “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie Mid-South Heavyweight Title Loser Leave Town- Steel Cage Match Lex Luger © with Woman vs Vader Gordon Solie: Wow… this event already looks like it is going to be a classic. It looks like we are all set in the ring so let’s get the action started. MATCH #1 Medusa Micelli defeats Judy Martin in a rough battle that saw Martin break every rule in the book. Medusa withstood all the nonsense and finally came away with the win after she hit the snap suplex and rolled it into a pin. Madusa gives another babyface promo on how happy she is to be here and how excited she is to be taking on some of the toughest women in the world. A little background on this angle… Ernie Ladd is just seeing what women’s wrestling can add to Mid-South. It has always been a bit of a gimmick with a match here and a match there. Now he is seeing if it would play week in and week out with his audience. He has hitched his wagon to Medusa as she is the only women in Mid-South considered to be on the roster. He will continue to find talent for her to wrestle but is still unsure of his long-term plans. If the crowd continues to react well, expect another woman or two to be added to the roster to feud with Medusa. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RAPIDES PARISH COLIESEUM IN ALEXANDRIA, LOUISIANA Before our next match, Hacksaw Butch Reed is with Gordon Solie. Gordon: Hacksaw, first of all, let me just say how happy everyone is that you and Junkyard Dog did not sustain any long-term injuries last week when you were attacked by Snowman and Kareem Muhammed. Hacksaw: Thanks Gordon. JYD and I are fine but last week shows you what type of men Snowman and Kareem Muhammed really are. They are cowards. They talk a good game but only want to hit you from behind. The only time they want to fight is when there are more of them. Gordon: You hit the nail on the head with that one. Speaking of JYD, he really did try to come and help you last week. Hacksaw: That’s right Gordon. I owe JYD for that. Going back in time, JYD and I haven’t always been on the same side. We’ve had our battles but that’s because we both wanted to be on top here in Mid-South Wrestling. Now, we both see that the real problem is the Snowman and whatever nonsense he is spewing. Tonight, JYD and I are going to get a little bit of revenge on those two clowns. Gordon: I wish you luck in that. Speaking of JYD, where is he. I thought he was going to be here with you for this interview. Hacksaw: I guess he is running late. I’m sure he’ll be here. MATCH #2 “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie defeats Caleb Johnson with the Figure 4 Leglock. Interesting thing here was Dibiase was physical throughout the match but rather clean. After the bout Dibiase and Sheik head over to the podium. Dibiase focused on how it is time for him to step up on his quest to regain his Louisiana Heavyweight title from Dr. Death. It is time for him to stop making excuses and looking to others for help. Sheik told him not to worry that he would soon have his belt back and that he knows he spent his million dollars wisely when he hired him. He said Ted Dibiase is not only the Million Dollar Man but the leader of champions. He talked about after July 4th, Dibiase will once again have gold around his waist just like the other members of his stable… The Mid-South Tag Team Champions, The Barbarians. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RAPIDES PARISH COLIESEUM IN ALEXANDRIA, LOUISIANA Before his next bout, Hot Stuff Inc is with Gordon Solie where Eddie Gilbert is ecstatic that his stablemates, “Hollywood” John Tatum and Jack Victory will be taking on the Steiner Brothers a little later on as he believes that they will beat them some bad, that Rick Steiner won’t even be able to wrestle on July 4th at the Superdome. Gilbert says he can’t wait for that incompetent President of Mid-South Wrestling to enter the ring that night and hand him, the one man he doesn’t ever want to be the Mid-South Television Champion, the belt so that he and his Queen, Missy Hyatt can become the face of this promotion. Missy Hyatt: Oh Eddie… you know what the only thing hotter than us is? That’s us with a little extra gold around us. Gordon Solie: Oh BRO-ther. Let’s get back to the action. MATCH #3 HANDICAP MATCH Vader completely destroys both Moondog Moretti and The Red Shadow. Gordon can’t believe that Vader left nearly 600 pounds worth of opponents just crumbled on top of each other. After the bout, Vader joins Gordon Solie for maybe the shortest promo in history where he just screams into the microphone and lets Lex Luger and Woman know that he is going to do exactly to Lex as he just did the two in the ring. As he leaves, Vader gives another of his primordial screams that has Gordon unnerved again. Once Vader leaves, Gordan regains his composure and reminds everyone that the Steel Cage match between Vader and Lex Luger is not only for the Mid-South Title but that the loser must also leave Mid-South Wrestling. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RAPIDES PARISH COLIESEUM IN ALEXANDRIA, LOUISIANA Before the match, the Texas Outlaws (Stan Hansen & Dick Murdoch) come out to the podium and do a good job of yelling and screaming about what they are going to do to the Barbarians on July 4th. Gordon wishes them luck and then brings us back to the ring for our first of two big tag team matches on tonight’s show. MATCH #4 The Steiner Brothers vs Hot Stuff Inc. Members “Hollywood” John Tatum & Jack Victory Tatum and Victory thought they were going to be able to come to the ring and outsmart the Steiner brothers. They learned very quickly that wouldn’t work. Missy Hyatt tried her best to help out and have her assets distract the Steiner brothers. That didn’t work. In fact, outside of a few moments of dirty tactics, nothing worked well for Tatum and Victory. The Steiner brothers took this match as a way to show what type of trouble Eddie Gilbert was in for in the Superdome. The end came with double German Suplexes on both Tatum and Victory resulting in a double pin. As soon as the ref started the count, Eddie Gilbert rushed the ring with a chair in his hands. It was like Rick Steiner knew he was coming. As soon as the ref finished the count, Steiner turned and kicked Gilbert in the cut. He then whipped him right into the arms of his brother. WHAM… Another German Suplex. Rick and Scott leave the ring with Hot Stuff rolling around the ring like all 3 had broken backs. Rick simply picked up his TV title and laughed at Missy Hyatt on his way out. Gordon hypes up the last match and hopes that Rick is as prepared for his TV Title match against Eddie in just two weeks. Suddenly Lex Luger and Woman come to the podium screaming about how Ernie Ladd better do something about Vader as it is clear that he has completely snapped and that he is not only a danger to Lex but also to everyone around him and to Vader himself. Gordon tried to turn the tables on the champ and Woman as he brought up how confident they were last week how they could easily beat the man who has played second fiddle to Lex for almost 2 years know. Lex and Woman seem to not even hear Gordon as they are deeply concerned. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RAPIDES PARISH COLIESEUM IN ALEXANDRIA, LOUISIANA Main Event Match Mid-South Title Match Hacksaw Butch Reed & JYD vs Kareem Muhammed & Snowman The problem started before this match was even under way. Muhammed and Snowman are in the ring as Hacksaw comes out to Gordon and explains that JYD is still nowhere to be found. Gordon has no idea what to do. Muhammed and Snowman come over to the podium and tell Hacksaw that he has no choice but to fight them both. Hacksaw puts up a good show of confidence and says that he has no problem beating them both, but he wants to know what those two did to Junkyard Dog. The two just smirk and head to the ring. Gordon warns Hacksaw that this match might not be a good idea, but he heads for the ring anyway. Hacksaw starts out on fire as is doing more than holding his own. The problem is this can only go on for so long as Muhammed and Snowman start to gain control. After another minute or two they are hitting big move after big move but no matter what, they can’t get the 3-count on Reed. Suddenly the crowd erupts as JYD is coming to the ring. This moment of excitement is short-lived as everyone can see that JYD is not right. He is a bloodied mess and is staggering to the ring. Gordon Solie doesn’t like the looks of this one bit and wonders what happened to JYD. Give the injured Dog some credit. He gets right up on the apron and heads right for Snowman. Dog throws a big, slow right hand that Snowman easily dodges. Another right hand and another miss. Dog looks like the 5th grader in his first fight against the school bully. WHAM… Snowman with a huge right of his own but this one connected. It looks just like last week with Reed and JYD down and Snowman and Muhammed going to town. Muhammed scoops JYD up for a powerbomb and nails it. He does it again and again. JYD is convulsing on the ring floor. Suddenly, a white towel comes flying in and The Texas Outlaws hit the ring. Murdoch and Hansen are throwing haymakers as The Nation of Domination heads for the hills. Snowman and Muhammed leave with Snowman’s arm around the neck of his partner as them seem to be gloating about this disgusting act. Murdoch and Hansen and trying to help JYD and Reed but it is obvious that JYD needs medical attention. Gordon Solie: Folks, this has gotten completely out of control. The medics are on the scene now. Unfortunately, we are out of time and will have to wait until next week to get an update on Hacksaw Butch Reed and JYD. Until next time, so long from the Pelican State.

I added Fargo to your roster. You had open spaces. When you are done with him, just let me know and I will release him.

CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING MID-SOUTH COLISEUM JUNE 19, 1988 Let’s just say Memphis Wrestling is back. The Mid-South Coliseum is packed… from the old lady in the front row to the men wanting a closer look at Terri Powers to the families just trying to find some affordable entertainment on a Monday in Memphis. Jeff Jarrett defeats Norman Smiley by submission with the Figure Four Leglock. The match starts and ends with a handshake. Dirty White Boy with Ron Wright defeats Jimmy Del Ray with the Bucksnort Blaster. “The Franchise” Shane Douglas defeats Big Money Marcus with the Belly to Belly Suplex. Terry Gordy defeats Shaska Whatley with the Piledriver. Exotic Adrian Street with Miss. Linda defeat Rip Rogers with Terri Powers in a chaotic finish. It looked like Rip had pulled an illegal object out of his trunks while Terry was arguing with the ref. Exotic Adrian was tangled in the ropes as Rip approached. Miss. Linda did a little quick thinking and jumped up on the apron and sprayed Rip in the eyes with her perfume and then she quickly untangled Adrian. Terri saw this and chased Miss. Linda up the ramp while Adrian locked in the sleeper on Rip. Eventually, Rip was out and the Exotic One got the win! Tag Team Match (Dutch & Gaylord must win to be entered into the Southern Tag Team Tournament) The Lightening Express (Brad Armstrong & Tim Horner) vs “Dirty” Dutch Mantel & Jeff Gaylord saw “Dirty” Dutch try every trick in the book but come up short as he did not see a tag between The Lightening Express which allowed Brad to come up from behind and get the roll up for the pin. This had Dutch so made he went right for Shoo Baby and was cracking that whip all around The Express but Horner and Armstrong avoided the attack and headed back to the locker room as the crowd cheered. Winners are the #1 Seed in the Southern Tag Team Tournament “Superstar” Bill Dundee & “The Fab One” Steve Keirn defeated Boris Zhukov & Soldat Ustinov in your classic good vs evil match. Keirn did a great job of playing the face in peril. Eventually he made his daring escape by clocking Ustinov and then rolling to safety. Even with his diminutive size, there was no holding back Dundee who takes care of both Russians until Keirn has healed enough to continue the fight. The end sees Dundee come off the middle rope ala Jerry Lawler with the fist drop on Zhukov and finishes him off with the pildedriver for the win. The crowd exploded as Dundee and Keirn are announced as the #1 seed in next month’s Southern Tag Team Title. Return Bout for the Southern Heavyweight Title “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel © vs “The Rebel” Dick Slater ends in a wild shocker! Slater, who had turned this bout into a brawl from the opening bell had Landel up against the ropes and was just pummeling him. The fans were loving every minute of it and were actually counting the number of big right hands that Slater was hitting the champ with. 1…2…3…4….5. Eventually, Landel violently rakes the eyes of Slater and Slater stumbles back to the opposite corner to try and regain his vision. The ref moves in and admonishes Landel for the move. The fans are irate at Landel. They seem to forget the punches thrown by Slater and only want to focus on the wrongs of the Nature Boy. The kids are throwing their arms up in disgust. Mothers are booing the champ. That old lady in the front row is up and screaming at Landel. She is actually so angry she leaves her seat and heads to the ring. She first gets to the corner where Slater is as she is pointing at Landel. WHAM… from inside here granny dress she just clobber DICK SLATER with a frying pan! Landel sees this and rushes over and covers Slater. 1…2…3! Landel has won the match. The old lady, quickly takes off her wig and granny dress to reveal that the old lady is Tommy “Wildfire” Rich! The crowd explodes and starts throwing things at Rich! Next, that huge black man who we saw outside of Wildfire’s house is rushing down one of the aisles in Mid-South Coliseum and is headed for Tommy Rich. This must be one of the guys Dick Slater has hired to get Tommy Rich. Rich sees the man coming and it is like he has seen the Angel of Death. He takes off from the rung and is running for his life. The fans continue to pelt him with debris, but he could care less! He is getting to safety and Dick Slater has lost the match. All is well in Tommy’s world… for now anyway.

I really enjoy events like this! This times they are hard to follow but you do a nice job of giving us short and clear pieces that made it easy to know what was going on. Prichard had a pretty nice night. He seems to be on the rise! Brody vs Tully! Can't wait.
