Mid-South is open to offers on The Barbarians (Konga and Nord) and this is an interesting one... I am leaning towards drafting Steve Austin with the first pick. I am open to an exchange with him for a prolonged period of time.
-
Great card with something for everyone. Race/Rhodes was an awesome angle with a huge payoff. Great work getting the big names involved in the WCW Championship angle.
-
I like the pre-tape matches. It gives you the chance to focus on your main angles during the TV show but also giving an extra match to the fans who came to the studios. Best of 7 is 2-2... Match 5 is huge!! I thought you might go 3-1 and have the babyfaces make the big comeback. Either way, this is a perfect stipulation for your promotion.

Mid-South Wrestling 1988: Episode #22: June 10, 1988 Gordon Solie: Thank you so very, very much indeed for tuning into another episode of Mid-South Wrestling, a symbol of wrestling excellence where you are guaranteed to see the very best there is in professional wrestling. I’m Gordon Solie and it is my pleasure to be coming to you today from the Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana. We’ve got a great show for you today but before we get to that, we must go back to last Saturday in New Orleans and the Lakefront Arena. Some very interesting things went down and to get you all caught up, I want to bring in the Mid-South President, Ernie Ladd. Ernie Ladd: First Gordan, before I get to what happened at Lakefront Arena, I want to let everyone know that we are coming up on our one-year anniversary since our first event. Last year on July 4th, I started Mid-South Wrestling Revolution with a huge event at the Civic Center in Mobile, Alabama. Some called us a small, upstart wrestling promotion back then but look at us now. We, along with Championship Wrestling from Memphis are the top shows on Superstation 17. This year, we will once again be hoisting a major event on July 4th. This time we will be returning to Mid-South Wrestling’s largest venue… The Louisiana Superdome! This event will be titled The Second Revolution! Already signed for this huge card are 4 huge title matches. Mid-South Television Title Match Rick Steiner © vs “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert with Missy Hyatt Return Bout for the Mid-South Tag Team Titles The Barbarians (Konga & Nord) with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie © vs The Texas Outlaws (Murdoch & Hansen) Mid-South Louisiana Title Match (Contractually Guaranteed Rematch when a Title Changes Hands) “Dr. Death” Steve Williams © vs “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie Mid-South Heavyweight Title Loser Leave Town- Steel Cage Match Lex Luger © with Woman vs Vader Gordon Solie: Wow… this event already looks like it is going to be a classic. One more thing, for those of you at Lakefront Arena, you saw Kareem Muhammed rush out and help Snowman in his match with Hacksaw Butch Reed. Ernie Ladd: That was very unfortunate but I must admit, I was not truly surprised. Snowman is a man that can’t be trusted. It’s one of the major reasons that I didn’t want him working in Mid-South but as a favor to Hacksaw Butch Reed, I agreed to that match. Also, as a favor to Hacksaw Butch Reed, in today’s main event it’ll be Butch Reed going one on one against Kareem Muhammed! I would also like to call out Butch Reed right now. Hacksaw: Ernie, I thank you for giving me the match tonight. What happened at Lakefront Arena just shows that Snowman is a coward. He knows he can’t beat me one on one. He talked about playing mind games and all this other nonsense. What it all comes down to is that he isn’t half the man he claims to be. Tonight, I will prove to Snowman and any of his other goons that I have been on top here in Mid-South for a reason. Now Ray Candy …. Or Kareem Muhammed … whatever you’re calling yourself nowadays… if you want to be a fool and do Snowman’s dirty work than, you’ll pay the price! I owe you Snowman. How about you have the guts to come and pay collect your own debts. Gordon: Thank you Hacksaw. I look forward to your match a little later on. Folks that big main event is not all we have for you today. You will see “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert taking on Norman Smiley. We’ll have The Texas Outlaws taking on The Red Shadow and Roger Smith. It will be “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase taking on Rocky Royal. For the first time in a very long time here on Mid-South Wrestling, the woman will be in action as the young Medusa Miceli takes on former NWA Women’s Champion Misty Blue Simmes. We will also hear from both Lex Luger and Vader about their upcoming Loser-Leave Town Match. Dr. Death and The Steiner brothers will join us and let’s not forget that huge main event as Hacksaw Butch Reed takes on Kareem Muhammed! It looks like we are all set in the ring so let’s get the action started. MATCH #1 “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert with Missy Hyatt defeats Norman Smiley with the Hotshot Suplex After the match, Eddie and Missy join Gordan Solie for a post-match interview. Gordon: Eddie, I am a bit taken back by your match last week at Lakefront Arena where you, “Hollywood” John Tatum and Jack Victory defeated the Steiner Brothers? Missy Hyatt: Your insults never cease to amaze me. Now you’re saying that my three guys are not good enough to beat those two neophytes. When are you going to get in through your head Gordon… Hot Stuff Inc is not only the best looking people in all of wrestling but we are also the best wrestlers. Gordon: Not that Missy. I was surprised that r. Gilbert had to take your purse, which appeared to be loaded somehow, and nail Rick from behind just for you to win a handicap match. Missy Hyatt: There you go again Gordon. Saying we need to cheat to win. Also, what would my purse be loaded with. I’m not an ordinary girl Gordon. My beauty is all natural. I don’t need to put any beauty products in the purse. Gordon: No beauty products in the purse… hmmm…. Maybe a brick! Eddie Gilbert: Solie, you better watch your step or my next knockout will be you. Now I’ll give the Steiner brothers some credit… They were just good enough to get their heads bashed in. Now, I get my TV Title Match on July 4th at the Superdome. The largest arena in all of Mid-South Wrestling. No place better than the Superdome for me, “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert to become the face of the company. Rick… Missy and I tried to help you. We took you in. We taught you everything you know. Now, I’m going to show you why I was the teacher and you were the student. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA Before our next match, Snowman and Kareem Muhammed come to the podium. Gordon: Snowman… Your actions at Lakefront Arena last week weren’t something I would expect from someone trying to build their reputation here in Mid-South. Snowman: Now, now Lilly White Gordan. This is not about winning the battle. This is about winning the war. You, Ernie Ladd, Butch Reed and all the other suits around here think that Snowman is crazy. You think I’m the only one frustrated with what’s been going on around here. I was accused of playing mind games with Butch Reed. Butch, this is not about you. This is about what you represent. You represent a culture where people like me are to bow down to the Ted Turners and Gordon Solies of the world. I’m telling you that there are a large group of Americans who are ready for a hostile takeover. A Revolution of kinds. We are to become the Nation of Domination. Kareem Muhammed here heard the situation and came running. Hacksaw Butch Reed… sit down and think a moment and I bet you will see I’m right. You are being used. You’re just a patsy for them…. A slave if you will. Kareem Muhammed: Hacksaw Butch Reed… your muscles mean nothing. All your big wrestling moves means nothing. You are weak. You’re weak because you’re a puppet. You’re held up by strings. When your masters see that you are no longer of use to them, they will cut you lose. What you represent is wrong. The movement is here and you will be just be a pawn in our mission. Gordon: I can assure you that nobody bows down to me. Let’s get back to the ring. I have had enough of this train of thought. MATCH #2 The Texas Outlaws (Murdoch & Hansen) defeated The Red Shadow & Roger Smith as Murdoch hit the Brainbuster on Smith After the bout Murdoch and Hansen are at the podium with Gordon Solie. Gordon: Gentleman, that was very impressive tonight but I’m sure that you would’ve rather had the win and the tag team titles last week at Lakefront Arena. Stan Hansen: You got that right Gordan. Dick and I were in a war the other night against the Barbarians and we came up just a little short. The Barbarians and us battered each other from pillar to post. We slammed each other all around the arena. We bloodied each other up. We bruised each other. And now in just a few weeks, in the Louisiana Superdome, we get to do it again. Dick Murdoch: Stan, I think you left one thing out… Barbarians… you might have one that match but do you honestly think you can do it again? I’ll answer that for you two as I don’t think you two were ever capable of thinking… Stan “The Man” Hansen and “Captain Redneck” Dick Murdoch have never lost two matches in a row. Those titles will be ours. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA Before his next bout, Ted Dibiase and Sheik join Gordon Solie for a pre-match interview. Gordon: Mr. Dibiase… your team, “The Million Dollar Corporation” seems to have let you down last week in Lakefront Arena as Dr. Death is now the Louisiana Heavyweight Champion. Ted Dibiase: For once Gordan, I agree with you. I asked for no help in my match against Dr. Death. I have never asked for help in any of my matches. I truly believe that if left alone, I am the greatest wrestler in the world. What Alofa did was unacceptable. He cost me my title. Because of his actions… he has been released from the Million Dollar Corporation. He is no longer a part of Mid-South Wrestling. I will defeat Dr. Death in our rematch in the Superdome and prove to everyone that my loss to Dr. Death was nothing but a fluke. I will prove to the Sheik that his investment in me was money well spent. Sheik Adnan Al Kassie: Not to change the subject Gordan… but I heard those Texas Outlaws speaking about the match they just lost and how they have never lost two matches in a row. That is simply because they have never faced a team like Konga and Nord before. I am the manager of champions. I will continue to manage champions. Texas Outlaws… you think you were bloodied and bruised before, wait till next time. Gordon: Thank you for your time gentleman. I believe that you, Mr. Dibiase have a match. MATCH #3 “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie defeated Rocky Royal with the Figure 4 After the bout, Vader joins Gordon Solie. Gordon tried to start the interview but Vader just grabbed the microphone and started screaming about how Woman and Lex Luger created the monster that he is right now and that the problem for them is that there is no putting the monster back in his cage. Vader discussed how much fun it was to watch Woman and Lex Luger run back to the locker room with their tails between their legs at Lakefront Arena last week and how those two now realize that the inevitable is upon them. Luger will soon be a bloody mess as he hands his title to Vader as he is forced to leave Mid-South Wrestling Gordon: Now that is the most intense I have ever seen Vader. Luger better be ready. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA Before the match, the Steiner Brothers join Gordon Solie. Gordon: Gentleman, I don’t think your match against Hot Stuff Inc. last week went the way you wanted. Scott Steiner: It was definitely not what we wanted. It was all our faults. We put our guard down against one of the dirtiest players in the game. Gordon: Very true Scott but as a result of that match, Eddie now gets a Mid-South TV Title match against you Rick. Rick Steiner: True but Scott said a mouthful. I will be prepared for anything he does. I will expect the unexpected. I am national college champion. I am better than he is. I am stronger than he is. I am faster than he is. In the Louisiana Superdome on July 4th, I am going to suplex him on his head and then walk out with my Television Title. Gordon: Fair enough Rick but I warn you, Eddie Gilbert is one dangerous man. Ask Dr. Tom Prichard… Ask Freebird Michael Hayes. Those are some big names who are no longer part of Mid-South Wrestling due to Eddie Gilbert. MATCH #4 Woman’s Match Medusa Micelli defeats Misty Blue Simmes with a Snap Suplex rolled over into a pin Medusa joins Gordon after the bout. Gordon: I must say Medusa, that was a very exciting match. Medusa: Gordon, I am just thankful for the opportunity to be here. Misty is a great wrestler; a former champion and I was lucky to come out on top. I hope the fans in Mid-South like what they saw and that I am back for many more matches in the futures. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA Before our main event, Lex Luger and Woman are at the podium. Gordon: I never thought I would see you two run away in fear! Woman: Excuse me Gordon. I think ‘re mistaken. The match at Lakefront Arena against Vader was over. Lex Luger was still the champion. What else did you want us to do? Gordon: Was the match not over because you hit Vader with a chair. Lex Luger: Gordon… This is simple. I’m the champion. Vader is not. Vader has been second fiddle around here for the better part of two years. Soon it will all be over. Ernie Ladd has finally done something right. A Loser-Leave Town Match. Vader… you’ve been a Loser since you got here. Now you get one more chance to do what your used to… Lose… then pack your bags, wave goodbye to the fans and wave goodbye to me… the Mid-South Champion. Gordon Solie: Fair enough. Let’s get to our main event. Main Event Match Mid-South Title Match Hacksaw Butch Reed vs Kareem Muhammed with Snowman Let’s just get to the inevitable, Snowman doesn’t wait long to get involved and the 2-1 attack begins. Give Hacksaw some credit. He went toe to toe with the two big men and held his own for a minute or two. He would clobber Snowman and the turn and do the same to Muhammed. Eventually, the attack got the best of him, and he was taken blow after blow. Gordon Solie was calling for the calvary and the crowd exploded as Junk Yard Dog rushed the ring! The problem was that by this point, Reed was not much help and while JYD started out like a house afire, he soon met the same fate as Butch Reed. As we run out of time, the fans are silent as both Reed and JYD are down, and the beating is continuing. Gordon Solie: Wow… fans… this Pier 6 Brawl is still ragging but we are out of time. Until next time, so long from the Pelican State.

I seem to have fallen a little behind here so let me catch up here! First back to June 2 I thought you did an awesome job with Gerry Morrow and his promos. The WrestleRock Rumble match is a cool idea. After everyone was upset at the weapons and injuries from Memorial Day, you throw them into a taped fist tournament where the winner gets a title shot. Nobody complains when their is a title shot on the line. Nice booking. I am also very interested to see which way you go with the winner. I have my gut thought on this one but I will keep it to myself. Also, perfect choice to add Tex Cobb into something like this. I think you made a smart choice when you decided to keep Dream Machine and Johnny Rich going at it. This is a nice mid-card feud that has legs. I think Duke Myers might be in some trouble.... Atlas is a big boy!!! June 9th... Ok... give Duke Myers some credit. He holds his own against Atlas! Crippler Ray as a manager... very interesting! The Killer Bees in the AWA... this is also very interesting! WOW!!! Wrestlrock is looking great!

It seems Doug learned something from his older brother... Nice Hot Shot! Interesting way to do the promo...Hase gives a letter to Mooney... Very creative! The guitar player has my interest!

He is currently in IPW I believe.

CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ASSOCIATION: EPISODE #14: June 10, 1988 The traditional CWA opening is played with some music being played as we see all the big stars of Memphis past hitting big moves. One exception is there is no Jerry “The King” Lawler in the intro. (As the show starts, with see Lance Russell and Dutch Mantell and Jeff Gaylord, Dutch Mantell’s bodyguard) Lance Russell: Yeeellow Everybody. Lance Rusell alongside Dirty Dutch Mantell. Fans, welcome to another great edition of championship wrestling. This is professional wrestling like it used to be and the way you like it. Dutch, why don’t you tell everybody what’s coming up in the next hour. Dutch: Before we talk about this week’s show, I want to go back to last week’s show where a major crime took place. Bill Dumbdee stole my bull whip. He stole my Shoo Baby! I demand that he return it to me today. That bull whip is a family heirloom and has been in my family for generations. Lance: Are you talking about the same bull whip you used to hit “Superstar” Bill Dundee with …. The same Bull Whip that you then used to attack “The Fab One” Steve Keirn with? Dutch: Were you even watching Lance? Those two cheaters were trying to show up Jeff and myself as Dumbdee obviously had a hold of Jeff’s tights as he went for the pin. Lance: Come on Dutch… just once in your life can you tell the truth. Suddenly Eddie Marlin, the general manager of Championship Wrestling, comes out. Lance: Eddie, I’m sure you have an opinion on this. Eddie: In fact I do. Here in championship wrestling we have very strict rules on the use of outside weapons. Dutch, this is not the first time you have used that bull whip in a match. The last time it was against “The Franchise” Shane Douglas and we gave you a pass as it was deemed that the bull whip was part of your wrestling attire…. But we did give you a stern warning that if you used it again, you would be punished. I’m here to announce that you have been fined $500 for your actions last week. Dutch: This is ridiculous. My team is cheated out of victory and nothing happens to our opponents. Nothing happens to the Lightening Express who then charged the ring and helped the original cheaters and then Bill Dumbdee commits a crime and you do nothing about it! Eddie Marlin: Dutch, your lies will get you nowhere. I spoke to Superstar just a little while ago and apologized on behave of Championship Wrestling for your actions. He accepted that apology and actually agreed to give you back the bull whip. Dutch: Well he better or Jeff and I were about to go back there and give him the beating of his life. Eddie: Oh you will get that opportunity. Dutch: What are you talking about Eddie. Eddie: Dundee did have one request, which I quickly granted considering your actions from last week. He wanted a match with you… today… in fact… a bull whip match where your bull whip is suspended on a pole in the corner of the ring and whoever gets it can use it in the match. Dutch: What are you insane? Do you know what that bull whip feels like when it rips off your skin. Eddie: Actually, no I don’t Dutch, but Bill Dundee does and he wants revenge… today. Oh and one more thing, Jeff Gaylord is banned from ringside! Eddie Marlin simply walks away as Dutch is throwing a hissy fit and Lance is having a good chuckle. Lance: There you go again Dutch. You stepped right in it. Fans, I know you’re looking forward to the match that Eddie Marlin just told you about but we have so much more. Boris Zhukov and Soldat Ustinov will be in tag action against Bo Dean and Luke Atkins. Rip Rogers with Terri Powers will be taking on Jimmy Del Ray. The Southern Heavyweight Champion, Nature Boy Buddy Landel will be taking on Shaun Simpson in a non-title match. Brad Armstrong will be taking on Shaska Whatley in a doozy of a match. We will also be hearing from Ron Wright who has promised to bring his tag team today to show why they deserve to be one of the teams in the Southern Tag Title tournament coming up on July 12th in the Mid-South Coliseum. Dick Slater will be here with a very important message for Buddy Landel. He says he also has a very interesting video regarding Tommy “Wildfire” Rich. That and much more. It looks like we are ready to go so let’s get to the ring. MATCH #1 Boris Zhukov & Soldat Ustinov destroy Bo Dean and Luke Atkins with the end coming by submission as Zhukov rag- dolled Dean in a Bearhug until Dean submitted. After the match, Zhukov and Ustinov praise Mother Russia for allowing them to come to this stupid country where it is so easy for them to become tag team champions and they can’t wait to destroy Steve Keirn and Bill Dundee to become the #1 team in the Southern Tag Team Tournament on July 17th. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville When we come out of break, Jerry Jarrett is at the podium and gives us a complete rundown of next week’s big card at the Mid-South Coliseum and he also announces that one more tag team has been entered into the Southern Tag Team Tournament next month; The world famous and multi-times champions, the Assassins. Jarrett reminds us that the other teams that are already entered include The Lightening Express, Zhukov and Ustinov, the Japanese National tag team champions, along with the former Southern Tag Team Champions, Bill Dundee and Steve Keirn Dutch Mantell: Jarrett, I’m just reminding you that you agreed that if we beat the Lightening Express next week, my bodyguard Jeff and I will be team #6. Jerry Jarrett: How could I forget. You remind me every chance you get. Suddenly, Ron Wright comes wheeling in… followed by 2 men in non-descript masks. Ron Wright: Hold on… hold on just a minute. I got the next team for you right here. You promised me that if I brought my team here today they would be in the tournament. And here they are… the greatest team in wrestling today… Devil #1 and Devil #2. Jerry Jarrett: Now Ron, I think you are taking a few steps out of this application process. First, I told you I needed a team that has wrestled together before. You have no proof of that. I told you I needed to see them in action or at least a video tape of their skills to evaluate. You have not provided any of that. As far I can figure, this Devil’s Duo is just two random people who you want us to beat under contract so you can make money and continue to steal from all the good people of Tennessee. Ron Wright: Steal… Are you accusing me of stealing. I’m the leader of the Christian Wrestler’s Association. I have done a world of good for the people in this here neck of the country and you accuse me a being a criminal. I just don’t want all these other teams in the tournament to have an unfair advantage and go scouting my team when I don’t have the same chance to scout the other teams. I mean I think Jarrett purposely puts the competition in arenas without handicap ramps on purpose so I can’t a go and learn about how they rassle. Jerry Jarrett: Forgive me for being skeptical. I mean who could doubt the leader of the Christian Wrestler’s Association. Especially when he comes out with two Devils! Dutch Mantell: Hold on now Jarrett. I’m getting a little tired Jerry Jarrett: Then go take a nap. I’m getting tired of you too. Jarrett simple walks away. Dutch Mantell: Ron, I don’t know what to say. You’ve done everything he has asked you. I think he is just such an evil man that he doesn’t want you to get that money you need to get those hip and knee surgeries you so badly need. Lance Russell: Why don’t you two just follow the rules and then maybe you might just get what you want. Let’s get back to the ring. You two are making me nauseous. MATCH #2 Rip Rogers with Terri Powers defeats Jimmy Del Ray with the Ripperplex Prior to the match, Terri, who is wearing a black silk robe takes the house mic. Terri: I know, I know, week after week Rip has come out here and given the overweight, undereducated woman of Tennessee the thrill of a lifetime. Well, I guess now it’s my turn. All you old men in the stands and out there in tv land, go tell your fat old lady to take a hike. Go put your bratty kids to bed. And then you get real close. If your out there in the audience, scoot up to the edge of your seat. If your at home, get your eyes so close to the tv that the hair on your eyebrows is sticking up… your about to see the show of a lifetime. Now hit my music… “She’s a Brick House” starts to blare from the speakers as Terri twirls around and around while giving a slow striptease with her white bikini on. The whistles and the hollers from the fans are constant as Lance warns us all that this is a family show and maybe the kids should go to bed. Dutch reminds Lance that it is only 11:00 in the morning and that he seems a little distracted. Rip took the mic and does his stick as Terri eventually helps him remove his pink vest. After his match, Rip and Terri head over to the podium. Lance Russell: I must admit that was rather impressive. Terri Powers: I know Lance baby. I saw how you reacted to my personal show a few weeks ago. That was pretty impressive also. Lance Russell: (clears his throat) Terri, I was talking about Rip’s big win a few minutes ago. Rip Rogers: Everything I do is impressive. I look impressive in and out of the ring and that’s more than I can say for that freak Exotic Adrian Street. I mean last week he was out here talking about how he will kick me and kiss miss all in the same sentence. Then he had the nerve to go and insult Terri. I mean his old lady couldn’t carry Terri’s bag. Anytime… any place…. I’ll beat you so bad you won’t know what bathroom to use…. Oh wait… not sure you know that now. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Before his match, Buddy Landel comes to the podium with his Southern Heavyweight title tossed over his shoulder. Lance Russell: Buddy, you have a big rematch coming up next week in the Mid-South Coliseum against “The Rebel” Dick Slater. Some say you shouldn’t be the champion now and the only reason you have the belt is because of Tommy Rich. Buddy Landell: People can say whatever they want. I’m the one and only Nature Boy. I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I’ve been destined to have gold around my waist since day 1. Those who think Dick Slater should be champion are the same people who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks and were never smart enough to cross them… just like Dick Slater. Look at him… he’s hired a hit man to go after Tommy Rich. Is this the person you want as your champion? I think not but no need to worry… The Nature Boy is superior to Dick Slater in every way. When all the dirt from Slater settles in the Mid-South Coliseum… I will still be the Southern Heavyweight Champion. Dutch Mantell: Thank God for good people like you and Ron Wright Buddy. You make coming to work every day worthwhile. Speaking of good people, I just hope Tommy Rich is in a safe place right now. He has been one of the bright spots in this sport for the past few years. Lance Russell: Oh brother. Let’s get back to the ring. Match #3 Southern Heavyweight Champion Buddy Landel defeats Shaun Simpson with the Figure 4. After the bout, Landel decides not to release the hold and amps up the pressure by holding on to the ropes. No matter what the ref does, the Southern Heavyweight Champion refuses to release the hold. Lance Russell: Oh come on! This is despicable. Something needs to be done about this. Landel is going to break poor Shaun Simpson’s leg. Suddenly, Dick Slater rushed the ring but Landel saw him coming and quickly slides out to the ring floor. Slater is screaming at Landel while Landel simply points to his head in attempt to show everyone just how smart he is. After Buddy Landel heads back to the locker room, Dick Slater comes over to the podium. Lance Russell: Well Dick, on behalf of Championship Wrestling, I’d just like to thank you for your help. It seemed like Buddy Landel was trying to make an example of young Shaun Simpson. Dick Slater: Landel was trying to get under my skin and guess what… he succeeded! There’s no reason to do what you just did but if you think your so tough, why don’t you come out here right now and we can so who the real tough guy is. I don’t care if it’s Buddy Landel or Tommy Rich. I’m going to make sure that I get my pound of flesh for what they’ve cost me. Lance Russell: Speaking of Tommy Rich. I’d like to show everyone a video that Tommy sent in us just the other day. We see a video, presumable from Tommy’s house where there is a huge black man casing the house, peaking through the windows and trying to turn the door handle. We then get some words from Tommy about how Dick Slater has crossed the line and that how he will see him real soon but it will be on his schedule. Tommy is all fired up about how he doesn’t back down to anyone, no matter the situation. Dick Slater: (laughing) Tommy, I told you we can do this the easy way or the hard way. If you don’t show up here real soon, my friend is going to pay you a visit… when and where you least expect it. Lance Russell: I’ve said it before Dick. This situation makes me uncomfortable. Let’s take a break. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Match #4 Brad Armstrong vs Shaska Whatley This back and forth match has a rather chaotic ending as a man in a blue mask, black tights and a black fitted top rushes the ring and attacks Brad Armstrong from behind. Lance comments on how he can’t prove it but that the mask man has a very similar body type to Jeff Gaylord! The attack continued for a minute until both Tim Horner and Bob Armstrong rush out to make the save. Lance Russell: Dutch, I smell a rat. Dutch Mantell: Me too. I really think they should clean up this city. Lance Russell: That’s not what I’m talking about and you know it. That masked man looked just like your bodyguard, Jeff Gaylord. I am pretty gosh darn sure you trying to make sure the Lightening Express aren’t at full strength for your tag match with them next week at the Mid-South Coliseum. Dutch Mantell: Ya know, I’m getting sick and tired of this. Every time something a little fishy happens around here, ya’ll blame me or Jeff. Lance Russell: Well if the show fits Dutch. Dutch Mantell: Oh put a sock in it Lance. I’m going to get ready for my match. Lance Rusell: I’m sorry folks. The shenanigans of Dutch Mantell seem to be getting under my skin. I really shouldn’t accuse him of such actions without any prove but I have just seen so much nonsense over the past few months that I can’t help myself. Let’s take a break. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Before the match, Lance is all fired up on what a camera just caught on tape when he secretly went to the back by the locker room. We see Jeff Gaylord, dressed in black tights and a black fitted shirt come out of the locker room and toss a blue mask into the trash can. Dutch notices the camera and knows this looks bad and tries to praise Jeff for going to the back and cleaning up the locker room. This brings out Eddie Marlin who is fuming and quickly levies another $500 fine on Dutch Mantell. Dutch wants to know what he did and Eddie says that while he can’t prove that Dutch planned the attack to prevent Brad Armstrong from getting to the Mid-South Coliseum last week, he knows that Jeff works for Dutch and according to CWA rules, Dutch is responsible for the actions of his employees. Dutch tries to protest but Eddie simple walks away. Lance: I’m just so ashmed to call you my partner. Have you ever tried to something on the up and up. Time for you to go to the ring and I don’t mind saying so that I hope Superstar gets his pound of flesh. Main Event Match Bull Whip Match “Dirty” Dutch Mantell vs Superstar Bill Dundee Let’s just say that the fans got just what they wanted. After a few minutes of back and forth action, Dundee was able to climb the pole and grab old Shoo Baby and get in two or 3 good whips as Dutch ran to the locker room. The fans, along with even Lance Russell joined in with the ref as he completed his 10-count. Lance Russell: Well all’s well that ends well folks. Dutch caused my a lot of nausea over the past hour but he got what’s coming to him. Remember fans, if you are anywhere near Memphis next week come on over and join us at the Mid-South Coliseum. It is going to be one dandy of a show. Until next time, bye, bye everybody. As the show ends, we get one last promo for the Mid-South Coliseum. CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING MID-SOUTH COLISEUM JUNE 19, 1988 Jeff Jarrett vs Norman Smiley Dirty White Boy with Ron Wright vs Jimmy Del Ray “The Franchise” Shane Douglas vs Big Money Marcus Terry Gordy vs Shaska Whatley Exotic Adrian Street with Miss. Rhodes vs Race 1-1 is the highlight for me. I think the 6-man titles will be good for WCW. There is a lot of talent here and this will add a big stipulation for 6 wrestlers who might not get a shot otherwise. Not sure Spivey is set to be the top guy. I'm expecting a wild turn here. Orton vs Zenk is interesting. Orton has usually been second fiddle here; often putting other guys over. Could this be his time or is Zenk on the rise? WCW has some interesting angles. Glad one of the international titles is going away. Nothing personal, just not my thing as my wrestling knowledge is so limited outside of 1980-85 in U.S.

Really good show... this is like the perfect 80's Arkansas soap opera. Two punk style woman on a leash, a angry black woman in overalls, two brothers fighting men in masks, somebody yelling about the damn foreigners, a commissioner all dressed up in a trucker hat, collared shirt and jeans followed by a Cuban vs American. Awesome 30 minutes of TV. Can't wait to see Reno vs Tojo.

Also, yes to Magnum T.A.
-
Good idea. I am going to delete the roster and if Scarlet wishes to continue with shows, he can use the woman he sees fit.

LAKEFRONT ARENA JUNE 3 Shaun Simpson and Norman Smiley wrestle to a 10-minute draw JYD defeats Assassin #1 with the Big Thump (Powerslam) Alofa with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie defeats Mighty Goliath with a Savat Kick after Sheik interfered in the match. Handicap Match If Hot Stuff defeats the Steiner Brothers, Eddie Gilbert gets a Mid-South TV Title Match on July 4th. Hot Stuff Inc. (Eddie Gilbert, “Hollywood” John Tatum, and Jack Victory) with Missy Hyatt defeated The Steiners during a moment of pure chaos. Tatum and Victory were double teaming Scott while Missy was up on the apron screaming in the face of Rick. The ref had lost all sense of control and needed to have eyes in the back of his head which he obviously didn’t. Missy had left her purse in the corner before going to argue with Rick. Eddie simply walked over, picked up the loaded pursue and clocked Rick in the head. When the ref finally turned around, he saw Eddie covering Rick and he completed the easy 3 count on the concussed Steiner brother. Mid-South Tag Team Title Match The Barbarians © with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie vs The Texas Outlaws (Murdoch & Hansen) No sense getting into too much description here as we can all picture a brawl for the ages! This is a war of attrition with both Murdoch and Hansen showing some color. So many close calls that saw the Sheik do his best to keep the belts on his men. In the end, we get a rather clean finish even though all 4 men were in the ring. Konga managed a top rope diving headbutt on Murdoch for the win. Even though we have a clean finish the champions know they were lucky to survive this bout which could have gone either way. The fans are already talking about a possible rematch. Grudge Match “Hacksaw” Butch Reed vs Snowman ended in a No Contest as the brawl started before the opening bell and the ref could never get the action under control. The ringing of the bell did nothing to stop the brawl that raged all over Lakefront Arena. Suddenly, in the middle of all the chaos, a huge black man in fatigues joins Snowman and they literally beat the living hell out of Hacksaw Butch Reed. A few people in the crowd who go back aways was pretty certain the attacker was Kareem Muhammed from the old Zambuie Express. Louisiana Heavyweight Title Match “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase © with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie & Alofa vs “Dr. Death” Steve Williams Money can buy you lots of things. It can buy a wrestling stable. It can buy you a bodyguard. The one thing that it cannot buy you is a fool prove system where nothing will ever go wrong. This was the case in this back-and-forth match. While Dibiase did get some outside help, give the Devil his due. When he had the momentum, he really showed off his toughness and skill. The problem was that he was fighting a man who knew all his moves and often seemed one step ahead of him. The crowd was sure that Dr. Death had won the title after an Oklahoma Stampede but Sheik managed to put Dibiase’s right leg across the bottom rope to break the count. After this, the camera caught Alofa putting the black glove on. This appears to be the same black glove that many have accused Dibiase of loading up before putting their lights out. Sheik jumps up on the apron and distracts the ref. Alofa enters the ring and squares off with Dr. Death. Both men are ready to go and Sheik actually jumps down. It is like a lightbulb went off in his head. If Alofa causes the DQ, Dibiase leaves with the title. The ref turns around, sees Dr. Death and Alofa ready to trade blows. Dibiase, finally recovered from the Stampede, grabs Dr. Death from behind…. Give the ref some credit for not calling for the bell yet as there has been no actual interference yet. Alofa squares up Dr. Death as Dibiase has him locked up. Here comes the right hand! Sheik turns to the crowd with a huge smile on his face! WHAM… the 400-pound Alofa, with a loaded black glove has just clobbered his own man… Ted Dibaise as Dr. Death powered out from the grasp of Dibiase at the last second. Dr. Death with a low blow to Alofa and then quickly covers Dibiase. Sheik, with no idea what just happened starts his count! 1….2……3! Dr. Death is the new North American Champion… The best part of the match was the look on Sheik’s face when he turned around and saw an unconscious Dibiase, Alofa holding his groin and the ref raising the hand of Dr. Death Mid-South Title Match “Total Package” Lex Luger with Woman © vs Vader Luger is struggling to contain the big man in this match. It is like a light switch has just gone off and Vader has become the monster that everyone has been waiting for. At one point, Vader has Luger trapped in the corner and he is nailing him with shoulder block after shoulder block. WHAM… Woman from behind with a chair shot to Vader’s back. The ref calls for the immediate DQ. Unlike last month at Lakefront Arena where Woman also nailed Vader with a chair in his match against Manny Fernandez, Vader completely “No Sells” this chair shot and turns to Woman. The look of fear on her face is priceless. She starts to back peddle and actually stumbles through the ropes. Vader peers down at her. WHAM… Luger from behind with a running clothesline. Again, Vader “No Sells” the move and now turns to Luger. Luger throws a right hand… blocked Luger throws a left hand… blocked. WHAM… Headbutt by Vader and down goes Luger. Luger rolls out of the ring where Woman is waiting. For the second time in a week, Woman and Luger hightail it towards the locker room as Vader owns the ring. Vader ends the night with a primordial scream that has the hair standing up on the arms of much of the audience. This feud is not done! That is if Luger has the guts.

Mid-South Wrestling 1988: Episode #20: May 27, 1988 Gordon Solie: Thank you so very, very much indeed for tuning into another episode of Mid-South Wrestling, a symbol of wrestling excellence where you are guaranteed to see the very best there is in professional wrestling. I’m Gordon Solie and it is my pleasure to be coming to you today from the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana. We’ve got a great show for you today. For the first time in Mid-South Wrestling, we will see the Steiners in tag team action, and they are taking on one of the best teams in the industry, the Assassins. Hacksaw Butch Reed will be in action against Moondog Moretti as he tries to prepare for his big match on June 3rd at Lakefront Arena against Snowman. Speaking of Lakefront Arena, Mid-South President Ernie Ladd will be here with a complete update on that great event. Also in action today, we will see “The Million Dollar” Man, Ted Dibiase defending his Louisiana Heavyweight Title against Sweet Brown Sugar. Dick Murdoch and Konga “The Barbarian” will square off today and in our main event… it will be Lex Lugar defending his Mid-South Championship against “The Raging Bull” Manny Fernandez. Before our first match, let’s bring out Snowman. Snowman: Butch Reed… last week… I proved to everyone that I’m in your head. You wake up and you think of me. You sit down to dinner; you think of me. You lay your ugly head down to go to sleep and you see me in your nightmares. The reason for this is simple. The people in power around here have put the pressure on you. They’ve told you that you must get rid of me. They’ve told Ernie Ladd that I’m bad for business. Butch Reed… they’ve told you that if you ever want to be #1 around here again, you must defeat Snowman! The problem is you know you can’t. You know you’re not good enough. You know you aren’t strong enough and most important… you know that because you’ve allowed your masters to do everything for you, that you are simple not smart enough to beat me. June 3rd … Lakefront Arena… a new era begins! MATCH #1: The Steiner Brothers vs The Assassins While this is the first time the Steiners actual wrestler together, it is like they have been doing this their entire life. They make quick tags, hit multiple power moves and are smooth with the quick, legal double team moves. The Assassins, one of the better teams in the area, put up a good fight but the Steiners seem like they have something to prove. The end comes when Rick hits a German Suplex on Assassin #1. In a quick post-match interview, the Steiners hype up their handicap match coming up at the Lakefront Arena vs Eddie Gilbert, John Tatum and Jack Victory. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR LAKEFRONT ARENA IN NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA Before our next match, all of the members of Hot Stuff Inc. are at the podium. Gordon Solie: Well, Eddie, I’m sure you were watching the Steiner brothers in the last segment. Pretty impressive win don’t you think. Hollywood John Tatum (takes the lead even though Gordon spoke to Eddie): Sure, that was impressive for you Gordon. Someone who looks like he has never played a sport in his life… but I’m a world class athlete…. A man born and breed to be in the ring and to me… they looked like for uncoordinated, weekend warriors trying to survive a 5 minute match. Missy Hyatt: And don’t forget Gordon. The Steiner Brothers just beat 2 men. Due to their own stupidity, they will have to face all three of my superstars in Lakefront Arena. Eddie Gilbert: And Missy, let’s just remind these fans how stupid the Steiners really are. Rick and Scott not only agreed to face us in a handicap match but if we win, I get a Mid-South TV Title Match at the July 4th Spectacular at Lakefront Arena. Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert will soon be the face of Mid-South Wrestling The prettiest and the baddest man all rolled up into the next future Television Champion. Gordon Solie: Oh BRO-ther. Let’s move on to our next match. MATCH #2 Hacksaw Butch Reed vs Moondog Moretti Hacksaw is out to show just how good he is and Moondog suffers the consequences. Reed simply shrugs off any offense Moretti tries and hits big move after big move. The end comes with a very impressive Military Press Slam on the near 300-pounder. As soon as the ref made the three-count, Snowman rushed the ring and tried to attack Reed from behind. It was like Hacksaw had eyes behind his head as he turned in plenty of time for the attack. Snowman sees this and puts on the breaks and slides out of the ring pointing to his head like he just outsmarted Reed. Reed is raring and ready to go and when Snowman simply smiles at him, Reed is fuming. He is shaking the ring ropes like he wants to rip them apart. Gordon Solie: I hate to admit this, but it seems like the Snowman is in fact in the head of Butch Reed. I hope Reed can stay focused in their match at Lakefront Arena. If he rushes in unfocused, he might be in a world of trouble. Reed comes over to the podium and is screaming… Hacksaw Butch Reed: Enough is enough. Snowman you talk about how you are just too good for me… too smart for me. What I think is that these are only words and what your words prove is ….. you are a coward. I was ready to fight you last week… you chickened out. I was ready to fight just now… you chickened out. Well in Lakefront Arena you will have no choice! You will try to fight but it won’t work. I will prove to everyone why Ernie Ladd said you weren’t good enough for Mid-South Wrestling. I will prove to everyone why you should have remained unemployed just like you should be. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR LAKEFRONT ARENA IN NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA Before our next match, Ernie Ladd comes out and runs down the entire card for June 3rd in New Orleans. Shaun Simpson vs Norman Smiley Mighty Goliath vs Alofa JYD vs The Assassin HANDICAP MATCH: If Hot Stuff Inc Wins- Eddie Gilbert gets a TV Title Match at the next Lakefront Arena Event on July 4th Rick & Scott Steiner vs Hot Stuff Inc. (Eddie Gilbert, John Tatum and Jack Victory) with Missy Hyatt Mid-South Tag Team Title Match: The Barbarians © with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie vs Texas Outlaws (Murdoch & Hansen) LOUISIANA HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase © with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie vs Dr. Death GRUDGE MATCH Hacksaw Butch Reed vs Snowman MID-SOUTH TITLE MATCH “The Total Package” Lex Luger © with Woman vs Vader MATCH #3 Louisiana Title Match “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase © with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie vs Sweet Brown Sugar Sweet Brown Sugar starts quick and has Dibiase reeling but as Sugar went for the missile dropkick after the Irish Whip, Dibiase hooked the ropes and Sugar crashed to the matt. This allowed Dibiase to take complete control with the end coming with the Figure 4. The problem was that Dibiase had no interest in releasing the hold. He grabbed the ropes and amped up the pressure. No matter what the ref said, Dibiase wouldn’t stop. Sheike rushed in the ring and dropped a few elbows onto the legs of Sweet Brown Sugar. The ref is waving frantically for the bell. He signals that he has reversed the decision but still no release by Dibiase. The crowd explodes… Here comes Dr. Death. WHAM… from behind its Alofa who nails Dr. Death. Dr. Death fell for the set up. It’s now a 3-1 beat down of Dr. Death which ends with a manically laugh of Dibiase. Dr. Death laid out in the middle of the ring. Gordon Solie: No matter what Ted Dibiase says, he seems to be trying everything in his power to make sure Dr. Death doesn’t make it to Lakefront Arena. I hope he hasn’t just succeeded. We need to take a break. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR LAKEFRONT ARENA IN NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA When we come out of break, a battered Dr. Death is at the podium. He is leaning over, holding his ribs and having trouble breathing. Gordon Solie: Dr. Death, Ted Dibiase and his Million Dollar Corporation seem like they are willing to do anything to protect Dibiase’s Louisianan Heavyweight Title. Dr. Death: Dibiase… no matter what you do to me… no matter how many people you send after me… you can’t stop me. Your time is up. No where to run. No where to hide. Since money doesn’t matter to you, I’m going to take the one thing that does matter toy you… The Louisiana Heavyweight Title. Gordon Solie: Well Dr. Death, I think you may need some medical attention in the back. Let’s get back to the ring. Before our next match, Dick Murdoch and Stan Hanen (The Texas Outlaws) come out spitting and yelling about what they are going to do the Barbarians and how it will start right now as Dick destroys Konga but the real prize will be on June 3rd at Lakefront Arena as they will take the Mid-South Tag Team Titles. MATCH #4 “Captain Redneck” Dick Murdoch vs Kona “The Barbarian” with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie For the second week in a row, ½ of the challengers face off against ½ of the champs in an attempt to hype up the tag title match between the Texas Outlaws and the Barbarians at Lakefront Arena. Last week, we saw Stan “The Man” Hansen defeat Nord “The Barbarian. This week we get an out and out brawl between Murdoch and Konga that saw outside interference first from Nord and then from Hansen as this bout ended in a double DQ. The two teams gave a good showcase brawl of what the title match will be like… pure chaos. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR LAKEFRONT ARENA IN NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA Before our main event, Lex Luger and Woman are at the podium. Gordon Solie: Woman… I must ask... why did you agree to have Lex Luger put his Mid-South Title on the line tonight against someone as tough as “The Raging Bull” Manny Fernandez. Woman: Gordan baaabbbyyy. You ask all the great questions. You’re so cute. First of all, Lex never backs down from a challenge. He enjoys showing everyone why he is the best Mid-South Champion of all-time. Also, Manny has been out here the last few weeks running his mouth. Whether he is talking about how tough he is or convincing Vader of all the nonsense that we used him to protect Lex from all the tough challengers. Manny… It’s time to pay the piper for all the damage you’ve done since you arrived here. Lex Luger: Manny…You’ve stuck your burrito brain where it don’t belong. Vader and I were just fine till you came around. Well, as fine as we could be with me being so much more talented than him… Anyway, tonight I finish off one bull and then on June 3rd I finish off the baby bull! Gordon Solie: Fair enough. I think you have a match right now. Main Event Match Mid-South Title Match “Total Package” Lex Lugar © with Woman vs “The Ragging Bull” Manny Fernandez With Lex already in the ring, there seems to be some delay. Finally, Manny emerges from behind the curtain and he is on crutches. Lex throws his hands up in the air like this is some type of excuse by Manny. Manny, while still in the aisle, grabs a house mic and starts to explain to everyone that he was attacked from behind in the parking lot tonight and has injured his knee. He is convinced that Woman and Lex had something to do with the attack. He goes on to explain that he is unable to wrestle tonight. Woman, takes the microphone from the ring announcer, and with a smirk on her face lets Manny know that there is no way they had anything to do with the attack as Lex was really excited to put Manny in his place. She goes on to explain that this was his one and only title shot and that it didn’t really matter as he had no shot anyway. She tells Lex that it was time to go and that they have wasted enough time with this loser. As Lex and Woman start to exit the ring, Ernie Ladd comes out. Ernie Ladd: Hold on Lex… Hold on just a minute. Whether you were behind the attack on Manny or not, I have no idea. I have no way to prove it one way or another. It is your word vs Manny’s. Lex Luger: Great… you’ve now wasted enough of our time now. Step aside. Ernie Ladd: Hold on a minute… while I don’t know who attacked Manny… I do know who promised all these paying fans in the Cajundome tonight, a Mid-South Title Match. Lex Luger: Again… not our fault Manny is claiming to be hurt. Goodnight. Ernie Ladd: And when I promise something… I make sure that promise is followed. Lex, you will defend your title tonight and you will defend it against someone I feel is ready for the challenge… and in case Manny’s claim of your attack is correct, someone Manny would approve of. Lex… your title match tonight is now against VADER! The look of shock on Woman and Lex’s face is priceless and Vader charges the ring! Lex tries to rush in and attack before Vader is ready but Vader ducks under a clothesline and hits the ropes and comes off hard with his own clothesline. The champ is down but tries to bounce up like nothing happened… WHAM… Football tackle by Vader Vader drags Lex up and whips him into the ropes… WHAM… Diving forearm smash and Luger is knocked completely through the ropes. Woman is beside herself. Vader is bouncing in the ring and shaking the ropes like the Ultimate Warrior. As Lex gets to his feet… Woman orders him to walk away… Lex, dazed, follows order and the ref awards the win to Vader by count out. Gordon Solie: Wow… fans… that was one of the most impressive things I’ve seen. Lex was tossed around the ring like a rag doll. Vader seems ready to take Luger out and become the next Mid-South Champion. Next week, if you are anywhere near New Orleans, get your tickets early. It is going to be some show. Until next time, so long from the Pelican State.

I am really enjoying the family feud with the Garvins. I was reading the match with Jimmy vs Brody and here comes Rugged Ron. This one is white hot. I bet Arn was tired of carrying Uncle Ole vs the RnR Express. I can’t wait for Ole’s promo about how lucky the Express were. I think Ole was magic on the mic. His intensity made me believe anything. Really fun shows. Great job
-
Great write-up for the World at War. I am so bad at writing match details but you hit the perfect balance between not enough and way to much. I thought the description of the Steamboat-Savage match was awesome. Can't wait to hear the promos on the next show from this controversial ending. Wow... a bloody Rhodes gets the win over Race! Great build to this angle!
-
The AWA continues to roll. I love the introduction of all the new angles on the TV show. Great way to push Ultimate Warrior... all he has to do is beat the largest wrester in the world. Poor Duke Myers... I wouldn't want to see Atlas coming after me. Awesome match between Adias and Tanaka. This would have been the highlight of almost any TV show I saw as a kid. Poffo and Idol... this is going to be a wild ride. WOW... What a Memorial Day.... And the MVP of the event.... The Medics!!! Can't wait to see BNB vs Nikita. I was not sure which direction you were going to go with BNB vs Colon but for most of his title run, I thought I had an idea where you were headed. For this one... I have no Idea! It's going to be great.

I wonder if Dark Journey missed Dundee on purpose? Very interesting.
-
You can use him as a commentator but he needs to still be listed as a manager on your roster as that was his role until 1991.

CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ASSOCIATION: EPISODE #13: June 3, 1988 The traditional CWA opening is played with some music being played as we see all the big stars of Memphis past hitting big moves. One exception is there is no Jerry “The King” Lawler in the intro. (As the show starts, with see Lance Russell and Dutch Mantell and Jeff Gaylord, Dutch Mantell’s bodyguard. Lance Russell: Yeeellow Everybody. Lance Rusell alongside Dirty Dutch Mantell. Fans, welcome to another great edition of championship wrestling. This is professional wrestling like it used to be and the way you like it. Dutch, why don’t you tell everybody what’s coming up in the next hour. Dutch Mantell: Why is it that you can never do your job. I mean Jeff and I have a big match to get ready for. Lance Russell: I’m sorry Dutch. A few weeks ago, you claimed you couldn’t wrestle because you were an announcer on this show and now you claim you are a wrestler and not an announcer. It’s hard to keep up with you Dutch. Dutch: It would be very easy for me to do my job if you and Jerry Jarrett would do yours. Everyone knows that I’m the best wrestler here, but Jarrett keeps making me jump through hoops to win one of these titles instead of just giving me what I deserve and anyone who listens to this show for 10 minutes knows I carry this announce team and you are just along for the ride. Lance Russell: Oh brother…. Okay folks, on today’s show we have The Dirty White Boys in action as he faces Brad Colbert. Dutch: Ya know. The Dirty White Boy’s manager, Ron Wright, and I have been talking about how things are being run around here and we are none too happy. Lance Russell: and now you want to be a color commentator. Make up your mind Dutch. Also on today’s show we will once again have Freebird Terry Gordy in action as he takes on Larry Cheatum. We will also take a look at the Dick Slater-Tommy Rich situation as today is the due date, if you will, for Tommy Rich to answer Slater’s ultimatum. Well last week you saw him walk to the ring during Rip Roger’s match and this week you will see him in action, it will be Exotic Adrian Street taking on Big Money Marcus. Dutch: Oh come on Lance. That freak is here. Lance Russell: I don’t think Big Money Marcus would appreciate that. Dutch: I’m not talking about Big Money and you know it. Lance Russell: I never know what your talking about Dutch. I promise you that. Now please let me finish. We also have a dandy of a match as Too Cold Scorpio takes on Shaska Whatley. Jerry Jarrett will be with us, not only with an update on the upcoming Southern Tag Team Tournament but also on the health of his son, Jeff, who suffered a pretty bad knee injury at the hands of the Southern Heavyweight Champion, The Nature Boy Buddy Landel…. And finally, the main event will be The Lightening Express, Tim Horner and Brad Armstrong taking on my “partner” Dutch Mantell and his bodyguard, Jeff Gaylord. Dutch, anything you want to add. Dutch: There’s nothing left to say. You talked enough for 30 people. Let’s get to the ring. MATCH #1 The Dirty White Boy with Ron Wright defeats Brad Colbert with the Bucksnort Blaster. Lance Russell: Mr. Wright, I’ve heard Dutch Mantell: Enough Lance. Let me do my job. Ron, I was just telling everyone about our conversion the other day about how this organization is being run into the ground. Ron Wright: Dutch, you got that right. I mean Jerry Jarrett has only been in business a few months and he seems to be a goin out of his way to keep good Christian men like you and me down. I mean both of us have to jump through hoops to just get a spot in this upcoming here tag team tournament. Lance Russell: Now that would be a sight to see. You, Ron Wright, jumping through hoops. Dutch Mantell: Are you kidding me Lance. Making fun of the handicap now. I mean seriously. Ron Wright, the leader of the Christian Wrestler’s Association, … a man who needs multiple surgeries just to walk again after he’s givin his life trying to help the good people of professional rastling and you go and make fun of him. I’m sorry Ron. Ron Wright: That’s okay Dutch. Heathens will be heathens. As I was a sayin…. Jerry Jarret making you beat Bill Dundee and Steve Keirn just to get a spot in the tournament is ridiculous…. And then, he still hasn’t accepted my team into the event either. I mean he should just have my team face you a Jeff for the title. We are clearly the best teams in the tournament along with being the best technical wrestlers… the best Christian wrestlers. Instead, he is going to find a way to make sure some heathens like the Lightening Express or Dundee and Keirn win the belt. Lance Russell: I can’t listen to this anymore. Let’s take a break. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Before we get to the ring for our next match, Jerry Jarrett is at the podium. Jerry Jarrett: First, I would like to thank each and every one of you for sending in all the get well cards and letters to my son Jeff. As most of you know, he suffered a pretty sever leg injury last week when he was locked in Buddy Landel’s Figure Four for quite some time. Luckily, there is no structural damage and he will not need any surgeries… just some time to recover. Dutch Mantell: Well isn’t this a case of who you know. Nothing wrong with little Jeff’s leg but he gets lots of card and well wishes. Mr. Ron Wright, the head of the Christian Wrestler’s Association, is in need of a wheelchair and can’t even get his team in the Southern Tag Team Tournament. Lance Russell: Dutch, do you ever wonder why people don’t like you. Jerry Jarrett: Thank you Lance. Anyway, I tried to give Jeff some advice that sometimes it is better to give up and fight another day, but he would hear none of it and says that he will never give up. Lance: Sounds like he’s got his father’s stubbornness. Dutch: Did you say he’s got his father’s stupidity? Jerry: Watch it Dutch. Dutch: What… I’m a little hard of hearing. Jerry: Moving on… as for the Southern Heavyweight Tag Team Tournament, we’re are still evaluating all the tapes but we have added another team to the tournament. The team will be coming all the way from Japan, and I admit they are very impressive. That now makes 4 teams in and 4 more to join. Dutch Mantell: And when we beat Dumbdee and Keirn in Mid-South Coliseum on June 19, Jeff and I will be #5 and you better let Ron Wright’s team in. Jerry Jarrett: Ron Wright knows the deal. Send in a video tape and identify the wrestlers on your team and we will give him a fair evaluation. Lance Russell: Thanks Jerry. MATCH #2 Terry Gordy destroys Larry Cheatum with the finish coming from the piledriver. Terry gives another post-match interview where he puts all the heels on notice but his focus really seems to be “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel and the Southern Heavyweight title. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Lance Russell: I would like to bring out “The Rebel” Dick Slater. Dick, you have made some comments and demands that I am in fact a little taken back by and can’t condone about Tommy “Wildfire” Rich. Would you care to explain. Dick Slater: Lance, I’m truly sorry to you and any of the fans who are upset by my actions but this is life. Tommy Rich for the last year has taken thousands of dollars out of my pocket by costing me both the AWA World Title and the Southern Heavyweight Title. He did this through disgusting means. I have given him a chance to come and meet me in the ring, in a parking lot or anyplace of his choosing. We could have settled this man to man. Everyone knows that he heard my message, but he has refused to answer. He has left me no choice. I know some very ummm, powerful people in the world. They will find him for me, and they will get my money …. Whether its in cash or his hide. Lance Russell: You know this is against the law. Dick Slater: Not where I come from and don’t act like this is the first time in this sport there is a bounty on someone. I’ve had a few bounties put on me and I have collected a few bounties placed on others. This is the world we live in. Tommy you know how to find me, and trust me, I know people who know how to find you. Lance Russell: Uhhh, I am at a loss for words, lets get to the ring. MATCH #3: Exotic Adrian Street with Miss. Linda pranced around the ring and systematically defeated Big Money Marcus with the Sleeper. Lance Russell: Well welcome back Adrian. We haven’t seen you are here in a few years. What brings you back. Exotic Adrian: I might have been away, but I was watching. I was watching Rip Rogers give us his malarkey about being the most beautiful man in wrestling and then he brings in Terri Power and now they act like they are above everyone else. So, I came out here last week just to hear what Rip would say and just like I thought… he has no class. Listen up Rip and Miss. Powers, I’ve got a message for you right now… I’ll kick you. I’ll kiss you. I bet. I’m as tough as Muhammed Ali and as sexy as May West. I’m as cute as Shirley Temple and as fast as Bruce Lee. I could kill a man… eventually …. so be careful Terry Powers and while I don’t like hitting woman, in your case Rip, I’d make an exception. Dutch: Street: I’d be careful if I were you. I think both Rip and Terry could take you out 1…2..3. Exotic Adrian: And if I were you, I’d crawl under a rock and never come out. Oh, I think you tried that in your last match where you hid for all but 8 seconds. I mean I’ve heard of a minute man but 8 seconds. Now I know why your single and have a man valet. Dutch: Watch it freaky. Exotic Adrian: Or else, what… I could do anything for 8 seconds. Let’s go Linda. This ummm, man is beginning to bother me. Lance: Dutch… I think you met your match there. Let’s go to break. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Before our next match, Dutch and Jeff Gaylord leave to go get ready for their match or at least that is what they claimed. Lance seemed to think it was because Superstar Dundee and Steve Keirn, their opponents at the next Mid-South Coliseum event, come out for an interview. Both Dundee and Keirn are hyped about the Southern Tag Team Championship coming up in July but also real excited to keep Dutch and his bodyguard from even getting into the tournament. MATCH #4 Shaska Whatley vs Too Cold Scorpio Very exciting match that Lance was glad to call without Dutch so he didn’t have to listen to him come up with another stupid name for Too Cold Scorpio. As for the match, Whatley was somewhat over matched by Scorpio’s speed, aerial tactics and overall unorthodox style…. But in the end Whatley cheated just enough to catch Scorpio with a low blow followed by a diving headbutt for the win. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Another quick interview from the Lightening Express adds even more hype to the tag team tournament. Brad and Tim both expressed interest in being the #1 seed in the tournament. Dutch, who returned from his “bathroom break” laughed at the idea that the Lightening Express could be the #1 seed in any tournament. Horner and Brad both laughed at Dutch and challenged him and Gaylord to a match, but Dutch said that he would have to pass because we were running out of time but if there was time, he would show The Lightening Express what a #1 seed looks like. Lance, just shaking his head, sends us to the ring for our main event. MAIN EVENT MATCH “Superstar” Bill Dundee & “The Fab One” Steve Keirn vs “Dirty” Dutch Mantell & Jeff Gaylord Interesting thing here was that Dutch Mantell started the match; much different than two weeks when he basically refused to wrestle. At least it seemed interesting to Lance Rusell until the match started and we see that Dutch again has no interest in wrestling. He plays the heel-delay for as long as he could until the ref demanded that he wrestle. That is exactly when he tagged in his bodyguard. As for the match, Dundee and Keirn used their technical advantage and speed keep Gaylord, who again did most of the work, off balance. Dutch did participate more here but only after his bodyguard connected with a few power moves. In the end, Dundee rolled up Gaylord with a small package but before he could get the pin, Dutch rushed the ring with his bullwhip and nailed both Dundee and Keirn. The crowd erupted as the Lightening Express hit the ring and before Dutch could turn around, they connect with double dropkicks to Dirty Dutch. Dutch dropped his bull rope as he fell through the ropes. Superstar Bill Dundee picks up the bull rope and dares Dutch to get back in the ring. Dutch is stomping his feet as he demands his bull rope back. Dundee realizes Dutch isn’t coming back so he pursues Dutch with the bull rope. You hear a loud CRACK as Dundee just misses but snaps the rope off the floor. Jeff Gaylord turns to help his boss but then decides discretion as the better part of valor and joins Dutch on a run to the locker room. Lance Russell: Fans, I think Dutch might have made a big mistake when he took out that bull rope. Now Dundee has the rope and I can bet you dollars to doughnuts he’s not giving it back. Make sure to join us next week to see if Dundee caught Dutch with that bull rope. We will also want to hear from Rip Rogers about the challenge given to him today by Exotic Adrian Street. Until next time… Bye Bye Everybody.

Enjoying the Dark Journey angle. I thought it was interesting how you pointed out that Renesto looked distracted during his pre-show match. I think these little adjectives make for great booking in our world of writing. Looking forward to the big weekend of shows

Really fun TV show with a lot of twists and turns. Morrow goes to Pro Wrestling America and finds Dick the Bruiser... very creative. Really like the 1st round matchups for the Memorial Day Tournament. I could see you going in a number of directions here. Great booking with the Idol/Poffo situation. The heel calls out Idol knowing he is not there but then when the match is signed, he does a quick reversal. I wonder what Poffo's Plan B will be. Synergy and the Original Midnight Express give us exactly what I loved as a kid--- a good ol' Pier Six Brawl! Glad Bully is back but is this beginning of the HUGE build up of Kokina? Again, another of your midcard masterpieces. Dream Machine is good on the mic but maybe time to keep your mouth shut... Nikita seems ready for a big push. I like your format for the TV title. It gives you a constant angle. I might steal this down the road. As for the Brown County Arena... I think I might have been right before as Kokina continues his rise but I have been wrong so many times Bully might just put a stop to it.

Awesome graphics again. Really enjoyed this card but I think my favorite moment was when Dark Journey played innocent after the trip. I have a funny feeling we are going to see a 7th match in the big take series Great show as always
