  1. There were two guys I thought I might be the high vote on going in, but it turns out I wasn't. They both dropped today, and they both made my top 10. They are CM Punk and Roddy Piper. My two favorite guys on the stick. I can watch their promos all day. I was surprised to see Eddie fall outside the top 10. Eddie was right outside my top 10 (like he finished here), but I thought for sure he would make it to the top 10 on this list.
  2. As expected, lots of big names dropped today. I finally had someone fall out of my top 10! I had Rey Mysterio at #9 on my list. I also had Backlund at #10. My other highest ones to fall were Daniel Bryan and Brock Lesnar which both also made my top 15.
  3. I get the Edge anger, but I don't know about Punk. I felt like Punk legitimately had a chance to be the guy had they booked him correctly when he came back. I don't think anyone could have fired on all cylinders like he could have with the machine actually behind him. I think he could have been the most organically over guy in years - and, he was for a little bit. That being said, woulda coulda shoulda, but I'm not sure any of those guys had a moment like the pipe bomb or MITB 2011 or even the Straight Edge Society promos. I think punk had the charisma and had great to even classic matches. Sure, if you are looking at solely in-ring work, then Valentine was arguably better. But, if you're looking at the total package, heel or babyface, I think CM Punk is just that - and he sells more tickets and merchandise.... Just my opinion - I personally wouldn't put Owen Hart over them...
  4. Yeah, I agree, but man I really loved that finish! Sweet reversal of the back body drop and delivery of the SUPERKICK!
  5. Yes, I went with Tito while just looking at their career in the WWF. As I noted above, I had Tito at 18, but I had Ted DiBiase at 36. I'm a really big fan of both.
  6. Slaughter my highest to drop now, as I had him at 15. I had Valentine at 17 and Tito at 18. I think everyone that dropped here and going forward were on my list somewhere.
  7. I was there for WM 32, and I've never heard anything like it. The first thing I think of when even hearing the term pop... is the glass breaking and the eruption of crowds so many different times throughout his career. I also want to second Canadian Stampede and CM Punk MITB 2011. Those three really stand out for me.
  8. Elias is a breath of fresh air for me. He wrestles pretty 80's WWF in my mind, and I love that. Cena needs to stop doing the AA right? It's about as effective as a bodyslam at this point. I liked the presentation of this gauntlet. I didn't mind the interviews. It was different. I enjoyed it.
  9. HonorClub launched today. I've tried to access the website, but it appears to have too much traffic right now. I'm definitely going sign up for VIP. They stated that they will have apps launching soon for iOS and Android, as well as Roku, Apple TV, and Android TV channels.
  10. Terry Gordy and Michael Hayes fought Kerry & Kevin Von Erich in a Country Whipping match right before this on 11/04/1983, and man if that wasn't the stiffest CWM that I've ever seen. It's explosive. I would recommend anyone checking out this match to give that one a watch right before. It's also pretty short. This match is incredible. I really like the comparison to the DiBiase/Duggan match because of the length and violence, and I agree I'd slot it underneath that. But, man this is just perfect. I couldn't imagine being in the crowd that night. When Fritz slammed the cage on Gordy's head I had the biggest smile on my face. PERFECT payoff. This is a classic.
  11. Garvin won the held up title because Sunshine sprayed something (I think it was hairspray) in the face of Kevin while the refs back was turned. This is one of THE BEST openings to match with them brawling out of control and ZZ Top blasting over the arena while the fist were flying. Loved it! Oh, and I loved Gordys huge offense. That knee drop that ended the first fall and one of his big headbutts... just big and booming offense from him. Looked great.
  12. I had Regal at 29... forgot to mention him with some of my highest to fall...
  13. Count me in on ****3/4. It just doesn't get much better than this!
  14. Yeah, he really sold that damaged arm. Great performance from Kevin. You know, the finish wasn't great as you said. However, I did enjoy the angle after it happened. David standing over Race yelling "you couldn't beat him with one arm! You hear me! one arm! If I can't beat you then I'll quit wrestling!" Pretty great angle.
  15. The Von Erichs look like the biggest rock stars the business has ever seen coming out at the beginning of this. It's like a scene from a movie. You have the wind blowing the fabulous hair of Michael Hayes as "Stranglehold" kicks in. The crowd goes nuts. The heels look worried. Then you get the shot of the VEs stepping into the ring looking as cool as it gets. Fun stuff, and agreed great match.
  16. Yeah! I'm right there with you guys. I had totally forgotten about this match, and had not seen it since 2008 until last night. I watch it my son because he knows who John Cena is (he's very young). He was super into which made it even more fun. I do think it's harder to place matches from the past ten years, as it seems the big matches run together so much more. That could just be a case of getting older, but it's probably also linked to so many matches and so many shows. Either way, this definitely had a HUGE feel to it. It was super entertaining, and it was a great match. I think Batista is criminally underrated by some folks. The guy loves the business too. Great point about it avoiding the "finisher spamming" as FMKK worded it.
  17. I'm probably just behind on the discussion, but I don't remember hearing anyone talk about this match. I thought it was really entertaining. Cody worked the first portion of the match sort of old school stalling and heeling to the crowd... KUSHIDA finally gets hold of him and works his elbow really well throughout the match. These guys put on a good show for the fans. I remember really enjoying the Cody/Ibushi match from WK, and I think this is another one of his stronger singles matches too.
  18. The next portion has dropped. It was interesting to see Mr. McMahon drop at #49. I think it really is probably the perfect spot for him. You have the folks that included him as a wrestler, and if you were to include him... then you likely had him very high. And then, there were lots of folks that didn't include him at all I assume... so it probably split him right down the middle. I didn't put him on my list just because personally I just wanted to put full-time wrestlers. So, if you had him your list at #2, I still totally get it. He's a polarizing character for this poll no doubt! He deserves every vote he got if you chose him to fit your own personal criteria. I also did not vote for Benoit. I was one of the low votes on the Superstar (100). If I'm looking at this right, my highest ones to fall so far are: Rick Martel, I had at #25 and Cesaro (which I had at 31). I think those are my highest to drop so far.
  19. I really loved this bout. ****3/4 for me. I thought that it was one of the best Kota Ibushi performances I've seen. Everything had a purpose and told a story. Everything made sense and I thought both of them worked the match perfectly. It definitely seemed like Ibushi was finding ways to overcome the leg damage, and I really enjoyed it. I also liked the finish... It wasn't too excessive, it was just right.
  20. Sleeze, if you see this... check out Kevin Von Erich vs. Great Kabuki from 05/08/1982. It's on the Network. Gotta love Kevin coming out to Stranglehold. Kevin's energy is off the charts. I like this one just as much as the David match (I think) just in a different way and for different reasons. I absolutely love this pairing of Flair vs. Kevin. It really makes for a highly entertaining classic matchup. I just love that look of determination on Kevin's face the entire time. He's not messing around! I really enjoy all the catching Flair off guard moments. Oh yeah... and the moment at the end ... bloody Flair: "It's mineee!!!! it's minee!!!!" so awesome.
  21. Gotta love those entrances too. Freebirds out with "Free Bird" and then the Von Erich's coming out with the crowd on fire to ZZ Top. There really is a big difference in finding the original footage with the music vs. watching on the Network. They come across as the biggest/coolest babyfaces on the planet with that crowd and "La Grange."
  22. "Sadistic" is totally the right adjective for Flair here. I loved his cutthroat presence in this match. His vocal selling was really fantastic. The closing of the cage door onto KVE's head looked and sounded so damn brutal. I agree with the idea they had to let the match continue. I was surprised they made it out alive anyway because the heat was incredible. If the match had stopped there, then it would have been over the birds ha. I have it below the Flair/David match too, but for the moment and greatness of the selling from both guys - add in the energy - ****1/2 for me too.
  23. Yes, if anyone finds a way to view this online, please post it here!
  24. I guess I was off by a number or two, because I did not vote for KO or Kane. I'm just glad Rick Martel placed higher than both of them
  25. Man, this bout is AWESOME! Its every bit of ****1/2, and I dont mean this negatively but had David been as fiery or charismatic as KVE it woulda bumped up to ****3/4... they really tell a great story with that armwork and with Kerry coming out.. lots of drama and Flair is just amazing here. Great stuff.
