Wow, Dibiase raises the stakes by purchasing the contract of King Kong Bundy! This is a game changer and means that US title is even safer around Teddy's waist. Rock Riddle is on a roll with the addition of Crews and Master G but can't seem to get back that TV title. Great card for Daytona Beach...I find myself really looking forward to the taped fist match between Corp and Kernodle.

He also announced for the Bash, an NWA National Tag Team Championship match with the champions The Rock & Roll Express defending against Bruiser Brody and Stan 'the Lariat' Hansen. Mercer interjects that speaking of Brody and Hansen, we're about to see them in action today, and we'll also see them in action tomorrow night in Amarillo, Texas in a non-sanctioned 'Lights Out' grudge match taking on Terry 'Bam Bam' Gordy and 'Dr. D' David Shultz! Dibiase, Rude, Fernandez make their way to the ring to tune "We will rock you" by Queen) Dusty: "Wow…..you really got me there Michael…..I can't imagine anybody I could bring out to match those two…..oh, except maybe….THE NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS 'THE LEGION OF DOOM' THE ROAD WARRIORS!!" ('Iron Man' by Black Sabbath fills the Sportatorium as Paul Ellering leads Hawk/Animal down the aisle) Dibiase: "Dusty Rhodes, you geeks are just lucky that I'm not in the WARGAMES because I would smack the finger paint off these two goofs faces…..and end you myself once and for all!" Hawk: "WEEELLLLL Mr. Dibiase…..good news….while you may not be in the WARGAMES on July 22nd….you just happen to find yourself in the Sportatorium right here tonight!! So if you've got half as much guts as you've got money….how about you and the Gruesome Twosome there face me, my brother Animal, and the American Dream right there TONIGHT!!" Well now I'm going to shock you again when I bring out a surprise entrant into the TV title Battle Royal…my man "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert!!" ('Hot Stuff' by Donna Summer blasts over the PA and out comes Eddie Gilbert who seems to be just beside himself with excitement) Gilbert: "Dallas, Texas…..just when you thought you were rid of Hot Stuff & Hyatt International we are back and better than ever….and it's not just me…..it's not just Missy…..and it's not just Rip Rogers…although we would be more than enough….welcome our newest member…..THE MISSING LINK!" Kendo Nagasaki eliminated Mr. Wrestling 3, as Nagasaki taunted Mr. Wrestling 3….Akira Maeda came from behind and tossed out Nagasaki eliminating him as well……Nagasaki slipped back in and spewed the green mist in the eyes of Maeda, allowing Eddie Gilbert to eliminate Maeda Gary Hart and Friday came to ringside and started yelling at Mr. Olympia who jumped out of the ring to confront them…until Kamala and Botswana Beast came out and attacked him….they ripped his mask off but he crawled under the ring to hide his face until a referee came put their shirt over his head The final three men in the ring were Sam Houston/Eddie Gilbert/the Missing Link……Houston fought valiantly against both members of Hot Stuff/Hyatt International….until Link charged Houston with a running headbutt but Houston ducked out of the way and Link went over the top rope to the floor…..Next week it will be "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert vs. Sam Houston to crown the new WCCW TV Championship MATCH #4: Kevin Von Erich pinned Jimmy Jack Funk w/Gary Hart with a small package…..Von Erich gets the pin and clears out before Terry & Dory Jr are able to hit the ring to attack him COMMERCIALS MATCH #5 MAIN EVENT The Road Warriors (Hawk/Animal) w/Paul Ellering & Dusty Rhodes defeated The Awesome Twosome (Rick Rude/Manny Fernandez) & "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase by DQ when 5 minutes into the match The Funks & The Freebirds hit the ring and attacked Dusty and the Warriors….Kevin Von Erich tried to come make the save but the 9 on 4 odds were too great and the show ended with heels standing tall © 1986 Southwest Sports Inc. I'm excited to see Garvin and Precious here and I have some real high hopes for this feud with Matt Borne. Great wins for the Rougeaus here....hard times for the One Man Gang....if it gets too tough he's always welcome in Texas.....just sayin'. lol -
I can only imagine the reaction to the surprise of Hacksaw Jim Duggan! Great stuff Wahoo/Barry in a strap match is fun especially in this era. Muta has arrived stateside!
-
Great show coming out of the Bash! Loved the Six man tag with Dutch/Los Super Medicos against Bobby Jaggers/Los Primos Starrs... Dutch vs. Jaggers in a Cage will be a helluva brawl. Now we're really getting into the fun unique Puerto Rico stuff with the fire match! Great way to up the ante on the already intense Abby vs. Carlos feud. I've been going back on youtube and watching a lot of old WWC footage (I didn't realize there was so much out there) and man I can't put over enough how well you capture the feel of those shows....so well done!
-
Great 2nd hour here....Lawler/Magnum/Kerry are a mega babyface team! The Fabs joining up with Ernie Ladd should prove to be fun. Big Bubba/Cornette together as they should be!
-
WCCW would like to book Abdullah on 7/22 for the Great American Bash
-
Good explanation from Ole for his actions at the Bash, I could literally hear him saying it as I read it. Fun stuff with Jack Brisco as the co-host. Akbar going to war with Dr. Death should be interesting to watch for sure! I really like the duo of Kendall Windham and Mike Rotundo, I could see them having a great feud with the Midnight Express at some point.
-
Great win for Superfly getting the US title shot and five grand! I totally forgot to mention in my last post how much I enjoyed Master G being a member of the Agency. I can imagine how hot the crowd was for the Rich/Orndorff vs. Rude/Fernandez match....great stuff!! Great call in Gantner winning the battle royal, he's coming in with some great momentum...good to keep that going for a bit to sell the fans on him.
-
Great debut! I'm excited to see the Spoiler in action here, he's someone you can really build around especially paired with Blassie! The Sawyers are a great tag team that are a good fit for Portland. The Samaoans should do well with the Big Kahuna Oliver Humperdink, I always enjoyed that persona for him.
-
Arn and Tully are the tag champs and all is well in Horsemen land Hennig/Atlas/Bravo may be one of the most unique 6 man teams to ever come together in the project..great opponents for the Horsemen. Looking forward to the slow build to the top for Dennis Stamp....just think of all the marketing opportunities Vince can capitalize on with him! A 'Dennis Stamp's Rock & Wrestling' cartoon, Dennis Stamp Action Figure, Dennis Stamp Stamps...I go could go on and on!

Regal comes out in a suit and says he's honored to get this opportunity and that he will do the legacy of 'Mr. Wrestling' proud. Lutte Internationale/International Wrestling July 1986

Man, you've done such a great job with this Sunny WarCloud/Brian Adias angle...a great mid-card feud! A lot of great talented big men in Lutte and One Man Gang makes for formidable adversary for Kokina. Loving Don Kernodle as a heel and he's been on quite the roll for monthes now, great stuff! Bees vs. SST is a great main event! -
Great post Bash show....Count me in as being excited to see Gantner here and in a big time angle with Dusty and the Twosome! I LOVE what you are doing with Bad News, he could really be one of the top babyfaces in the NWA if you continue down this path!
-
Epic Bash event! Not a lot I can add to everything that's been said but here's the personal highlights to me. Crusher and Boyd have kind of been in limbo since dropping the Six Man belts but this is a great win for them on a huge show that should put them back in contention. Owen Hart vs. Ricky Santana has been one of the top feuds in WWC and this is another great twist with Owen winning the Lightheavyweight title and having plenty to gloat about on the next TV. I love that Chicky came out to celebrate as well. Great showing for the Funks and Von Erichs here in Puerto Rico....Terry Funk was made for WWC! I love the First Blood Match with Mantel and Jaggers, great seeing Idol show up to play off the previous angle earlier this year. Invader 3/Benoit was a great match and Invader 3 will make for a versatile champion to be heel or baby whatever the title defense/territory may call for. BamBam/Ayala was the match I was most excited about Hercules Ayala made a great champion but Bigelow is really on his way to being an even bigger star sooner than he did IRL which is really saying something TNT/Gama was a great match and I look forward to seeing either of these guys challenging Bigelow down the line. Nikita just looks stronger and stronger with each title defense....poor Martel has really taken some punishment from the big Russian, can anyone stop him?? What better Main Event can you have in Puerto Rico than Abby vs. Carlos...great story with Carlos going for revenge for the eye injury and it's far from over.
-
Great show that really lived up to the hype! What a great way to debut Warrior, I think he can really benefit from being part of a tag team at this stage of his career as will Sting. Savage vs. Windham is one of the best feuds going right now, these guys are in their prime here! Great win for Andre in front of this huge crowd, Sika is a tailor made opponent for the Giant. What a main event! This is the biggest feud in wrestling right now and this perfect to keep it going as Hulk and company get the win but Flair is still champion which keeps the heat.
-
Love the different tag guys being thrown together in a six man...so many different issues can be touched on in one match. Great promo from the Horsemen, looking forward to Showdown at Shea 2
-
Great show with everything you can ask for in a big event! I think the Adonis/Street finish really threw everyone off as I don't think hardly anyone thought they would be leaving, great twist with Adonis turning post match. I like the finish in the Armstrong/Jarrett with Jarrett making the count fooling Dr. Death....Williams will make for a great babyface here! Big win for JYD to bring him back in hot after his hiatus to Texas. I'm sure Lawler busting the guitar over HTM got a huge pop....Honky will have to do something big to the King to get his heat back after Lawler seemingly gave them the big payoff in their first confrontation. I like Taylor winning the title, he's a great fit here in the UWF. That moment of hesitation with Rich made this whole angle for me...because of Rich's track record no one would have been shocked if he turned but I can imagine the fans sigh of relief when he didn't....very well executed! Speaking of well executed, I absolutely LOVED Ole being revealed as the Russian Assassin....Ole is one of those guys as a fan you just don't want to buy him as a babyface because you know better but he's so good at promos you eventually start to get sucked in then BAM, he turns and you kick yourself for falling for it....very well done and he should have some very heated matches with Magnum throughout the summer.
-
Owen Hart continues to be a highlight here in WWC! Dutch vs. Jaggers is tailor made for Puerto Rico and this continues to heat up each week. Looking forward to seeing the Starrs vs. Medicos....July 5th is going to be off the charts.
-
What an epic event....from top to bottom it was a tremendous card...it's been thoroughly reviewed but let me share my favorite moments: Rocky Johnson/Wendell Cooley felt like a odd pairing at first but man it's really worked and I could totally see them getting over here the way they've been booked, excellent work. I love it when I don't see something coming and Bad News showing up and taking the money came out of left field and I absolutely love it, it's perfect for this scenario. Great match with Orndorff/Race, coming off his incredible run in the AWA and now getting the better of the veteran Race, Orndorff has to be in serious contention for the World Championship. Good stuff with Hansen/Rhodes...the Awesome Twosome run in was needed to continue the big angle with Rhodes/Dibiase elsewhere....I get Kevin's concerns over Bull making the save but since you spelled his name right, GantNer...I think it works, lol. The World title match come off well, Nikita retains but Idol stays strong and continues his angle. Dibiase/Duggan on top works with the cage stip....classic feud and one of the best going in the NWA right now! As mentioned, you set a very high bar for Bash shows....I can only hope WCCW's can even half way live up to this!

Terry Funk: "Brody, you piece of garbage……you listen to me and listen good…..You tell that son of a b**** Ted Dibiase if he wants his precious money to come down here to Texas and try to get it…..The Funks, Gary Hart, and The Freebirds have come together to rule this state….and when we get done with Dusty Rhodes, the Von Erichs, and all these other goody two shoes….there will be nothing left of any of them!" (Hayes grabs the mic) Hayes: "Dusty Rhodes…..consider your WARGAMES challenge for Great American Bash accepted and if we did this to Bruiser Brody…..just imagine what we're going to do to you! You might wanna reconsider that retirement." (The Freebirds, The Funks, Kamala, Beast, and Gary Hart exit the ring…..a bloodied Brody crawls over to the microphone) Brody: "Is that all you ladies got? I came here looking for a fight!" (As Brody pulls himself up with the ring ropes, David Shultz enters the ring for the next match…..Brody flips off Shultz and spits at him….Shultz charges him and a fight breaks out between them until Kerry Von Erich rushes the ring and grabs Shultz and suddenly their lights out match is on as Brody rolls out to the floor and wanders off into the stands) MAIN EVENT LIGHTS OUT GRUDGE MATCH "Modern Day Warrior" Kerry Von Erich pinned "Dr. D" David Shultz in a wild bloody brawl after a 'discus punch'
