  1. I wouldn't get too bent out of shape over this, did the crowd cheer? did anyone including yourself get up and leave out of offence? Really people know the deal when it comes to pro wrestling and they know these people are working a performance so anyone in the ring or around it is obviously in and consenting on whatever is happening to them. If the same thing happened to a woman in line at the concessions then the same people cheering would probably react quite differently because what happens in reality is not played by the same rules as in the world of pro wrestling. Still I agree it's a spot that younger talent should probably not take up as the world is changing but an old timer now like Tatanka working with a consenting valet is not something I think is a big issue. If anyone over the age of 12 has their morals or actions swayed by doing something done in a wrestling show then they obviously have something seriously wrong with them and any parent that doesn't explain or communicate what the difference between the wrestlers performing things in a show and how they should act in reality is, then they probably shouldn't be taking their kids to wrestling shows either.
  2. He doesn't really owe indie/pro wrestling anything, he gave what he had to give and was compensated for doing so and chose to move on. He's in preparation for his rumored second UFC bout and he's got the lawsuit with WWE on the go so he probably wants nothing to do with pro wrestling at this time. I'm sure he wants his buddies involved to do well but if they are his friends they would know better than anyone why he probably won't want to be involved.

  4. Hello all, I was rewatching this feud the last day or so in my spare time on World(although the 05.08.1982 match is the only one missing from NJPW World for some reason so I had to find it on dailymotion since I don't have my DVDs with me). After rewatching them all for the first time in many years I thought I'd ask some of folks here which one they enjoyed the most from this fondly remembered series? I know that online years later the whole series was debated and picked apart and all it's flaws discussed and I'm sure some here don't hold the matches as fondly as the popular opinion but myself even watching these back with those criticisms still enjoyed them and thought they still hold up for what they were and what they meant to me as a fan discovering Japanese wrestling. So to sum it up for those here which of the matches did you personally enjoy most after all these years? Myself upon rewatch I still think the 05.08.1982 match is the best one personally of the series and enjoyed it the most. It was kept pretty intense and well balanced and wasn't as wild with the crazy counters and reversals being too contrived. the crowd was also pretty hot and the finish was clean and well executed by Tiger Mask. What are your picks and thoughts about this series? Please vote and comment on what you think about it.

  7. Since I couldn't find an exact date for this one I didn't post it in the Match Archive but I'll post it here. First let me say thanks to Rah for a great choice as I loved Evan Bourne in that era and Regal is always great. So the atmosphere was enthusiastic. Evan was pretty over and Regal plays the villain tremendously like always. Evan played as clean cut white meat babyface as you could get in today's world and the crowd was all for him while Regal came off as the perfect balance between a bullying sneering heel blended with shades of cowardliness. Everytime Evan managed to get something going or build any momentum Regal went through his bag of underhanded/rough-handed tricks to stop and stifle him. Finally once Evan started to put it together he caught Regal with his nice jumping knee and got him into position to hit the Air Bourne for the clean pin and big pop. This was black and white heel/babyface and a great crowd for it as they were into it the whole way which speaks to how well both played their roles. It was a quick match that told the story and I'd give it **3/4. Good stuff and would recommend it as a fun watch.

  9. Wow I've never heard that, I always thought he was demoted to the comedy 6 mans due to some sort of heat or something like that. Crazy to think he's still working in 2018 if he's had memory issues for this long.
  10. I'm unfamiliar with what you're referencing, what was wrong with Kikuchi at this time?
  11. I looked over the listing and forgive me if I missed it but still no Macho Man vs Undertaker 1991 match where Savage was wearing the red/white tights that everyone was disappointed wasn't on the last unreleased set? Why wouldn't put this one on here?

  14. Alright for Rah since last time we were paired up I gave Dan Severn vs Tarzan Goto so as a change of pace I'll give something a bit more opposite, Vader vs Ricky Steamboat WCW Worldwide 05/29/93. These 2 had a great series of matches in that era of WCW and this was one I really liked so hope you enjoy.
  15. Finally got to sit and watch this match Laz gave me and I made a new topic in the match discussion archive here for it, http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/41239-shingo-takagi-vs-yamato-dragon-gate-72416/ So my thoughts were to sum it up, "Overall this was a very good match and the crowd was into these 2 and they delivered. I knew nothing of YAMATO and little of Dragon Gate and Shingo aside from what i said before from seeing them in ROH over a decade ago now. This was a great treat to watch and a perfect example of why this is fun to participate in as with so much wrestling to see it's always gonna have stuff like this slip through the cracks for folks like me who are just trying to keep up with it all. I give this match ****1/2 and would highly recommend it to anyone as the story told in the ring is done so well that someone like me who knew little to nothing about these 2 was thoroughly impressed and entertained by such a match." Thanks Laz for a great recommendation.
  16. So this was another pick sent to me for The Secret Santo Match trade from Laz. It's Dragon Gate which I've never really watched outside their exploits when coming to ROH back in the day mostly. So it begins and we have Shingo(who hasn;t changed at all in the 10 years since i last saw him) and YAMATO. This match was a fantastic big match feel struggle with Shingo being a bit of a bastard to go along with his tank like arsenal. YAMATO was a really slick ground tactician and had a great touch of aerial ability to compliment his all around style. Everytime YAMATO overcame Shingo's cheating and bull power tactics along dealing with Shingo's cohorts outside the ring with his earlier on ground based assault or from the middle to latter parts how aerial attack comebacks, he shone and the people were really behind him. He worked very hard to secure his cross armbreaker but in the end it wasn't the difference maker but rather his driver that did the trick which to finally hit and secure the 3, YAMATO had to survive quite a few of drivers himself at the hands of Shingo along with a plethora of suplexes and power shots and lariats. Overall this was a very good match and the crowd was into these 2 and they delivered. 17. He actually worked 2 tags for Baba in 1996 the year before this, https://www.cagematch.net/?id=2&nr=1223&page=4&year=1996&promotion=6
  18. Great sounds cool since I watched a fair bit of Toryumon but next to no Dragon Gate except for their ROH and other North American appearances for the most part. For Laz I'll give you 2 Cold Scorpio vs Sexton Hardcastle from PCW 05/16/1998, a fun match from right before Edge went to WWF and Scorpio is as good as ever.
  19. I disagree, I still believe Newborn UWF although it had a short run of 2 years was the best shootstyle group of all time. It had the most talented roster and was groundbreaking and different where the next wave of spinoffs like RINGS,UWFi, and PWFG were all just trying to recapture their success with their own twist on it.
  20. Wow this was something, I don't even know if I'd consider this wrestling as it was more larping to me than a wrestling match. I do enjoy the little bit silly characters of Hamada's old Universal Lucha Libre and Chikara etc. but once the bell rang it was still pro wrestling with some shenanigans thrown in. This video was pretty much all schtick and shenanigans so it's like claiming an ice cream sundae without ice cream and all toppings is still a sundae. The crowd was hot at least so that made it watchable but other than that just due to the costumes they couldn't do much of anything aside from smash the "buildings" and flail at each other like a youtube video with silly monster fights in public places. I didn't bother with making a post in the match review archive for this one due to my earlier point of it not really being a wrestling match to me but it was a fun watch in a this is just absurd and strange kind of way. I cannot rate whatever this is but thanks to Laz for the share and although it wasn't for me it's always a good thing to watch things outside your tastes to reaffirm why it is you prefer what you prefer.
  21. It still be nice for the Network to get it so we can see the WWF/USWA angle in good quality. I don't think the 80s Memphis stuff would be better quality, most of the master tapes are gone, this isn't like Mid-South or Mid-Atlantic. My understanding is that Lawler claimed ownership of Memphis and has pieced together all the stuff floating around and wants to sell it to WWE for the Network. The big question is whether Cornette's collection would be part of what Lawler has, specifically all the missing stuff from 82-83. If it is, and WWE has that stuff, I'll be picketing outside corporate with a sign every day until they put it up. I'll start social media campaigns. I'll do anything. The world needs to see all the Lance Russell footage available and Cornette is sitting on it. Im sure I remember cornette saying in a shoot interview he regrets selling SMW to WWE. In fairness, he couldn't have expected it to be the only library that they would largely leave on a shelf. That's odd, in his 2'nd Youshoot he said he didn't regret selling it as he had lost 6 figures in SMW and WWF was paying him 6 figures for the tape library so he could break even by selling it. He said he didn't consider SMW something historical to the level of a Championship Wrestling from Florida that he couldn't stand to see buried away in WWE's vaults. Im not sure which interview it was on but he said he had heard that its out there in the trading community in great quality and told fans to actively seek it out which which I took as his way of Jim approving trading so fans get to see it. It was in the same Youshoot as the person who asked the question prefaced it by saying they had managed to collect all the episodes of SMW but was wondering if WWE was ever gonna release a mass box set of them(before the network). Jim said he supported tape traders and to "keep this shit alive" .

  23. Bundy one was good if you like Bundy's personality and humor, I have only seen 1 other Bundy interview so all the tidbits he throws in outside of talking strictly WWF and WrestleMania II were interesting to hear. But I agree the Orton interview was blah, he didn't really have a lot to add and seems like he was a good hand who was friendly with the the right people which got him the spot and he was just glad to be there and was more about getting drunk and having a good time rather then getting involved in the creative process. So that lifestyle coupled with age, his self admitted aversion to doing interviews and unwillingness to go into any detail over his out of the ring exploits and rather give a hearty chuckle or grin instead when asked leaves him being a pretty mediocre at best guest for something like this.
  24. I love this match and the reason it was grappling only was it was Funaki's return from a broken arm a few months prior when he was preparing for the U-Cosmos show against Maurice Smith(Minoru Suzuki took his place and was KO'd) so they probably didn't want to risk him taking a blow directly to the arm and re-injuring it. In story I guess it made sense for a guy coming back into the full contact world of what UWF was promoted as being a real match to have a warm up bout to shake off the rust.
