  1. Wow, can't believe that was the end of Kanemura but that does seem like a sleazy thing to do no matter your line of work. Thanks for explaining.
  2. Today on WOR during the fans questions one fellow asked Dave about SWS. The guy mentioned that on the same night as the Tenta/Kitao shoot, there was a lesser known Minoru Suzuki/Apollo Sugawara incident. Dave didn't seem to recall much about it and checking my copy and looking online it seems that match never made the commercial release(which is weird because the Kitao one did but maybe since he was a bigger name they wouldn't leave him off). Has anyone else seen this and where could footage of this be found? What exactly happened?
  3. What?! W*ING Kanemura? I never heard that one.
  4. Super Porky & Maximo Carlos Colon Carlito Colon (43 reigns between them!) Dos Caras & Alberto Del Rio Fritz and Kerry Von Erich Guessing he was referring to the Von Erichs.
  5. I was aware that Art toured with NJPW as American Machine in 1994 shortly before his death, So after searching online a bit I can't seem to find any of his matches there. Did any of them ever air and has anyone on here seen them before?

    The Mae Young Classic

Sucks Lufisto isn't in it, really thought this would be her chance to finally get to be in a WWE ring. Also would've liked to have seen Havok in but she has baggage so it's more understandable.
  7. Don't use steam so I'll be waiting for the PS4 release but I'm a big Fire Pro fan and look forward to playing it when it comes out on console.
  8. I agree with you on points of your thoughts like it can be disconcerting to see a possibility of some like Theil who has the resources to possibly influence the censorship of free speech and that it can be confusing as to the monetary amount a loss of life gets vs some celebrities reputation in terms of the total awarded. However some points I thought when taking this documentary in were if Gawker was any sort of credible news source then I'm sure there would've been opposing wealthy folks who would've jumped to back them if they felt Peter Thiel's involvement and backing was unfair. But they didn't because Gawker made their bed for years with the BS they put out there as news when it was no more than dragging people's personal and private matters through the mud for a dollar. Despite whatever good intentions they seemed to have in terms of promoting Gay acceptance by outing someone who had not given the okay or chose not to publicly broadcast or disclose it for whatever personal reasons. I do agree Hulk Hogan is a public figure sure but what is so news worthy about him on tape having sex with another consenting adult in the privacy of someone's home? Stolen material like that Hulk tape, the fappening and any other stolen sex tapes or materials of celebs is not news, it's stolen private material that is being broadcast to the mass public for profit without the authorisation of the parties involved, it's of no benefit to the general public and damaging to a majority of these folks livelihoods(in the Hogan case). Who can argue that knowing that ____ celeb is engaging in consensual sex with legal adults is important for the general public to know about a public figure? I don't care who is taking part(as long as it's consensual between people over 18), it's total bullshit and precedent needs to be set that it's not acceptable and has no news purpose because in the ever expanding reach of easily obtainable mass media it is only going to get worse without intervention . Bottom line the public has no business in anyone's bedrooms without the consent of the parties involved. This Hogan case is a poor representation to try and attach an attack on free speech to when the situation had little to do with the benefit of the public interest for this footage to be released for profit by a glorified gossip site. I do think free speech and media is extremely important but to base that notion atop a stolen tape of consenting adults of legal age engaging in sexual acts in the privacy of their home isn't defenceable to me no matter who is involved.
  9. The Yeti was a mummy because rumors/legends/myths circulate of several mummified Yeti remains being kept. Had El Gigante actually gotten the role as planned, he would eventually have removed the bandages to reveal a white version of his Giant Gonzalez outfit. Never heard of this(although it sounds cool). Where did you hear this information?
  10. I agree with your thoughts here in that it is very believable that security could have been a concern and it's no great feat to see death threats coming from overly patriotic folks. However if there was any possible chance of them selling out or even putting a large crowd into the LA Colosseum then they would've definitely went through with holding the show and having heightened security there just for the sake of a larger gate and the tremendous ego stroke/publicity of putting thousands of asses into the Colosseum.
  11. Yes, most Blu-ray players now play a wide variety of media formats directly off of data discs. Just not .iso images of DVDs. Thanks for the reply, great stuff. This may be the route I take.
  12. Your mileage may vary on "considerable" expense, but the most popular burners on Amazon right now are in the $50-70 range, and single-layer 25GB discs are about $25 for 50. I only got around to it this year, and was shocked by how cheap the whole thing was. 25GB on there? Do those need to be formatted as DVDs or can the media files be copied directly? Is this a very time consuming process? "25GB" = 23.2, but yeah. Just like DVD, you can put straight data on them with any easy burning software like ImgBurn, or author video files into a playable disc if you have proper software for that. Burning a full disc takes about 20 minutes at 6x, if you run a verify it takes perhaps another 10-15. One thing you can't do is put several standard DVD .iso files on a BR and play them in a BR player, because the universal player standard expressly forbids this operation. You can probably guess why. What about MP4 or AVI files? for example if I have a year of a promotion of say 50 episodes and wanna burn it to a 25 or even 50 GB Blu Ray disc, will it still play it in a blu ray player?
  13. That's how I'm also currently storing my burnt discs as well and it's perfect for me but at the amount of discs it'll end up taking to back up the tons of stuff I've amassed would probably be more space effective to burn them on Blu Ray discs with more space.
  14. I'm in a similar boat, I have lots of stuff sorted but I am not confident my external drives will last forever and I'd hate to lose so much stuff from over the years. So the Blu Ray burner seems like the best bet but is a considerable investment financially but I think that's the route I'll end up taking.
  15. I have been thinking about this lately with going through some of my stuff and contemplating buying a blu ray burner. I have about 6 external drives with roughly 10 terabytes between them(aside from my already hundreds of discs and about 50-100 VHS tapes I have left over from my VHS days) and I have been looking at cloud storage(which I'm leery of) and burning more DVDs which is mainly how I've been doing it but I've accumulated such an amount of online files that I think it'd be more financially and space conservative to use the larger data holding blu ray discs. I really prefer having the physical copies as I've experienced data loss before and if one of my drives now with some of the stuff I have were to go down it would be awful trying to refind some of the stuff I've saved. So with all you fellow collectors of footage, how do you all on here have your wrestling footage collection stored? What do you recommend? anyone else burn blu ray's and find it work well? Just looking for some brain storming and thoughts

  17. I believe it was a situation where Al was to wrestle Flair for the Title in Flordia in his home town and Al wanted the belt and was gonna shoot on Flair to get it(Al trained with Karl Gotch and apparently was a skilled shooter). Gary Hart who was managing him at the time tried to talk him out of it but Al wouldn't let it go so Gary told the office and he was fired. Gary talked about it in his book and said he regretted having to stooge Al off but it would've been bad business and unfair to Ric to let him walk in there and possibly get hurt.
  18. Nice review, where did you find a match like this if you don't mind me asking?
  19. Thanks, I'll keep checking around for it.

    RIP Mr. Pogo

Sad news, as mentioned by others some of my first Japanese wrestling that I got to see was Onita and Pogo in FMW. Despite not being a huge fan anymore of deathmatch guys, Pogo and Onita were different in how the stories they told using the deathmatch style were captivating to watch and not just a gore show that it has mostly become known for. Condolences to his family and friends.
  21. Thanks for the replies, does anyone know of a source to see these matches? I've seen a few IWE sets around online but none with any of Dynamite Kid's stuff.
  22. I have recently been watching some older Japan stuff and watched Dynamite and Kern in a tag in NJPW in 1980 that I'd not had the chance to see before and it made me wonder about Dynamite's 1 tour with IWE as all of Dynamite's work I've seen, I have not ever seen any footage of him in IWE. Has anyone ever seen footage or even photos of him there?
  23. Thank you for this, excellent resource I haven't had the opportunity to see before.
  24. Hello all, I read about this show in the Observer rewind over on Reddit and I had no recollection of it. I have never seen any discussion about it and looked around online but couldn't find it for sale on any of the usual sites I've seen have these shows(although some had the 2000 memorial show). So has anyone here seen this 1996 show or was it even released commercially or on handheld? Love to hear more about it. Match Card https://www.cagematch.net/?id=1&nr=58122&page=2
  25. Here's an update Roy gave on the answer, "I got this response from Fumi Saito about this talent exchange "In 1990, Giant Baba and Seiji Sakaguchi, the new president of New Japan after Inoki left the company to be a politician, started the talent exchange. The first set of the experiment was Stan Hansen working a tour for New Japan and Bam Bam working a tour for All Japan. Then Baba sent Road Warriors had for New Japan tour and Sakaguchi sent Steve Williams for All Japan tour. Then Steve Williams ended up being traded to All Japan for full time. But following year, in 1991, Inoki told Sakaguchi No More so the talent exchange deal fell off from there. Baba would do business with New Japan if Sakaguchi was the man but not with Inoki" So guess it was Sakaguchi that worked that out, shame Inoki had to mess it up and who knows what sort of matches we could've got in that era with a NJPW/AJPW talent exchange.
