[2018-07-16-WWE-Raw] Roman Reigns vs Drew McIntyre vs Finn Balor
KawadaSmile replied to MoeTWrestling's topic in July 2018
Finn Balor and Roman Reigns might have the best chemistry in all of WWE right now, and then you add this HUNK called Drew McIntyre, and you are obviously going to get some great, great stuff from all 3 men. While the writing itself has been weird ever since Wrestlemania, this main event scene is one that most companies would kill for. -
But then... if nothing matters why are the fans there at all?

The only time where I questioned a wrestler's effort in a match, barring Brock's for obvious reasons, was Dean Ambrose simply not giving a shit at last year's Wrestlemania's pre-show. He was visibly bored and lethargic. They might be micromanaged to ridiculous standards in order to avoid stepping out of bounds and risk looking not very good for the broader audience, and the writers have to appease this huge billion-dollar corporation that is WWE by writing the most milquetoast material possible at times, but in no way the wrestlers are not bringing in the effort. Some are less talented than other and thus don't really bring it in terms of quality, but you can see they are trying. Hate the game, don't hate the player

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4

High Energy's baggy pants with odd paired jackets and checkered patterns. The worst aspects of early 90s colorful fashion. On another note, is Naomi the wrestler that best pulled off the eyepatch gear? She looked really damn cool, circumstances aside. -
But here's what puzzles me, Migs: Roman, a guy who people like to boo, get his usual heat. Rusev Day chants. Duelling chants for Reigns. Ok, seems par for the course for the guy and so far, not really odd. Raw Women's match: crowd is quiet except when Ronda comes along, and then the crowd loses their shit. Weird reaction for the match itself, but ok. WWE Championship, featuring TWO fan favorites: dead silence throughout most of the match, except for the near falls. Rusev Day chants were louder during Roman's match, which was odd. Really weak reaction considering how well-liked the wrestlers are. Then the main event, which was not even a bad match - it was actually pretty good. The crowd pretty much gave up on cheering for Rollins (or Ziggler, for that matter) from the get-go despite getting one of their faves in the Main Event. They kept chanting for THE FUCKING CLOCK. What else could they possibly want in order to give a shit about things? They get a good match and one of the hottest acts going on in WWE in the main spot. Let's say they are tired from a 4h30min event. Ok, but don't they know it's going to be a really long event? Can't people get halfway through, once they already bought their ticket? Or leave halfway through, if they are that tired? Instead, they not only really didn't care about the match at hand, despite getting what they wanted, but paid attention to anything else but the match. We can argue that WWE indulged in that kind of behavior and now their performers are the ones to pay for it, but that still is no excuse.

World Cup, football and Pro Wrestling

I think people were really upset about that first foul - IMO it was non-existant - and how long it took for the ref to check with the VAR if there was a penalty or not. While I wouldn't say Croatia was robbed, those two plays really deflated much of the supporters' spirits. Still, I LOVE how they managed to get there. Despite not winning the big one, Croatia made history and are actually the most successful squad in their country's short history, with some really good players showing up. As for France, it is wonderful how having a coach who can actually deal with players, creating an actually amicable environment, devoid of blackmailing assholes like Benzema. I'd say that Valbuena not being there would generate some bad blood eventually, so props to Deschamps. I've heard lots of people criticizing him, saying that France was playing below what they are capable of with their current roster (which is true to a certain point), but like Micro said above: he can adjust his team nearly effortlessly depending on the situation and opponent. That is not so easy as one might think. Also, subbing Kanté was very smart. As much as I like him, he was having his worst match of the tournament, looked really nervous. Glad everything turned out okay. All in all, while this was not as good as the 2014 WC, it was leagues above the 2010 and 2006 Cups, and had one of the best final games ever. Good Stuff. -
I thought the show was actually decent (at least the latter half certainly was good enough in terms of in-ring quality), but the crowd was horrendous for reasons I cannot fathom - other than assholes being assholes, at least. Are Pittsburgh crowds notorious for that kind of uninterested, douchebag behavior?
-
It's not really a good look no matter how you see it, is it? I mean, when your first action is to give out on the crowd after you looked like a geek in the match, you do open yourself up for that interpretation. Sure the crowd was obnoxious as shit, but his bro Roman takes that kind of shit in stride and isn't really bothered by it. Was kinda expecting him to address the crowd counting down mid-match, really.

Rollins is apparently very mad on twitter and thus proving he will never be The Guy
-
Lashley vs Brock seems like a done deal at this rate. Maybe a #1 Contendership match for the WWE Title at Summerslam seems like a good idea, too.
-
Considering how quickly they scheduled a rematch, it's possible.
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SETH'S A FUCKING GEEK
-
Wait, no overtime? What the fuck?
-
The match isn't bad and Ziggler hasn't been unbearable, but this crowd KILLED it. My God.
-
This is easily the most obnoxious chant ever made. My goodness.
-
Also I love how Drew is slowly getting fed up with Ziggler being a geek. And my God, they are chanting for the CLOCK. And people say ROMAN is not over.
-
Wasn't there an Ironman match with something similar? I guess it was Angle which used a chair or something in order to get the upper hand on the long run

It actually says EVIL on his ass. What

Speaking of heatless can you guys imagine Orton vs Nakamura?
-
Sadly heatless match, but yet really, really good.

Tried to be HBK when HBK already exists. No wonder no one takes him seriously, that absolute mark.
