This was my exact thought when I read this topic's title. Terry Funk is probably the undisputed GOAT when it comes to the emotional aspect of professional wrestling, as a face and as a heel. Regarding athleticism, I honestly feel like Doug Furnas is one of the best, yet lesser known picks. He was strong as shit AND was able to throw those moon jumping dropkicks with ease. However, I feel like the top pick would be pre-broken neck Lesnar. A guy that size doing Shooting Star Presses with ease, and being able to carry big damn dudes like Big Show? As for most impactful offense, should we take into consideration wrestlers just throwing potatoes or being reckless?

Miz, of all fucking people, being one of the few friends Punk has in WWE, and in the industry as a whole, is fucking hilarious. But hey, I guess real recognizes real.

There is one wrestling entrance song that has always eluded me. I just cannot find that damn banger Salman Hashimikov and Viktor Zangiev use here.

Gunther on his way to becoming the greatest TV worker ever. Possibly one of the greatest workers in WWE history, period.

Very strong episode from an in-ring perspective.

I am pretty sure Kingston flat out said on a Twitter rant that TK and Sammy are coke buddies.

Aren't both Punk and Ibushi physically fucked up?

Funny you mention that because in their match Punk was certainly working more snug, being the condescending vet. Would 100% work in Darby's case, too.
-
Who's gonna be the Mick Foley in his case? Like, Sammy Guevara is nearly 30 and still hasn't had a feud to elevate him to that next level like Orton had in his mid-20s. I guess the matches against Cody were nice, but he didn't really ride any sort of momentum.

Darby is the closest of the three, but even so MJF is a more complete wrestler. Despite him having some yuck ideas for his feud with Bryan, he is clearly the one comfortable for the main event. He has an unique look and unique style, like you said. I remember someone here comparing him to Jeff Hardy, which kinda makes sense.

Listen, Bron, the Creeds and Stratton HAVE to be called up.

I doubt there will be much of a crossover, moreso because most of the big UFC names are way too deep into shady shit - McGregor and Jon Jones being prime examples - and they don't have the benefit of being bilionaires to cover their tracks. Plus, imagine Dana having to stiff arm his fighters after they get a decent pay day on RAW or any given PLE just to take a few bumps? I don't think UFC and WWE will cross paths any time soon.

Woof, a good part of the footage from the Brazilian scen in the 60s and 70s are basically lost or archived media at this point. I know for a fact they were broadcast in some capacity, but I doubt they were kept intact. We do have some notorious matches from the 80s, 90s and 00s in the Gigantes do Ringue Archives, but other than that it's hard to have a hold of a meaningful, thorough compilaiton. Michel Serdan cage matches in the 80s were dope as fuck! -
Man, MJF really stands out when compared to fucking Jack Perry, doesn't he? In fact, him being in the same category as the other three guys is unfair to him, and I'm not even a fan of his.

Yeah, that 2008 run he's had was absolutely great. The match he had against Rey at The Bash was some really, really top tier stuff. Personally, what really hurts Jericho to me is this JAS run. Just endless feuds that don't really do much to either party, but specially to his opponent. He attaches himself to whatever wrestlers is on a hot streak, and they are massively cooled down afterward. Punk was actually a draw in his first fight, actually. Sure he was woefully underprepared, but that actually weak card did better numbers than others with bigger MMA names. There is a video from Napoleon Blownapart about Punk's MMA career which, while now outdated, as it stopped once he made his return, paints a decent pictura about why he was a big deal back then, and why his UFC tenure made some waves. On a more joking note, Jericho influencing the likes of Bray Wyatt should count against him!

I think Jericho's "reinventions" are grossly overstated. In fact, Punk being a constant for nearly 20 years and never coming off as hokey or stale is a bigger testament to how "real" he feels. After all, the straight edge condescending asshole who has some charm to him is essentially his real-life persona. In terms of making me engaged to a program or feud, Punk wins without a question, even prior to his AEW debut. Jericho had something interesting going with the feud against MJF, but ever since the never ending Kingston feud, he has become a channel changer. Punk might be a bigger UFC draw than Jericho is a professional wrestling draw, too.
