I often have trouble buying a bearhug as a move but from a man with the physique & reputation of Kazmaier i have no problem. Ranger Ross pulls off the patriotic upset. I don't think anyone will blame him for the strategic withdrawal before he could face the wrath of Nikita. Dark Journey pays dividends for "Mr Electricity" as he angles for another shot at the Jr Heavyweight Championship. A eventful four way leads to the next chapter of the Armstrong/Rich saga. I can just imagine how pitiful RPG sounded in hid wheelchair wrapped up like a mummy getting pushed around by Duker. Bass is a good contender for Cooley. The dq means this isn't over. Mama Peggy better make a extra special dinner to make up for costing her boy the World Tag Titles. Olympia retains but the real story is after the bell. I struggle to picture Landel as a face but If anyone can pull it off it's you.

Western States Wrestling Sports Arena Amarillo Texas Bell time 3pm Jason the Terrible w/"Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan defeats U.S Steel by referee stoppage when Jason mounted Steel and repeatedly headbutted him with the hockey mask! The Devil's Duo w/Slick defeat The Glamor Boys when Radiance came down distracting the Glamor Boys & the referee. During the confusion Slick passed Sword a bike chain which he ko'd Simpson with for the win. "The Latin Heartthrob" Al Perez defeats "Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan with a bridging German suplex. After the bell Jason came in swinging his ax though Perez thankfully made it out unharmed. The Fort Bragg Brotherhood defeat Radiance. A ref bump allowed Embry to line up a belt shot on Kirchner but before he could strike Steve Doll ran down and snatched the belt. Embry gave chase leaving legal man Somers to fall victim to the Cobra Clutch. Intermission limited tickets for next week's event sold. Taped fist match Cocoa Samoa defeats Abdullah the Butcher w/"Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan When Cocoa banged Abby's & Sullivan's heads together then hit a Samoan drop followed by a second rope splash. Bunkhouse Gangfight Rules for a Bunkhouse Gangfight No DQ No C.O Tornado rule in affect Falls count anywhere Come dressed as you are Devastation Inc defeats The Wild Bunch A chaotic affair in which chairs, boards, belts, boots & even a (unlit) branding iron are used. The decisive moment is when Akbar barked into a walkie-talkie summoning the ONE MAN GANG who layed out The Wild Bunch culminating in a 747 to Windham on the ring apron allowing Brooks to pin him after he rolled in agony to the floor. Bullrope match Dory Funk Jr defeats Chicky Starr with a piledriver on the Cowbell. Zaibatsu (WSW Heavyweight Champion Jumbo Tsuruta,Kendo Nagasaki &Mr Pogo) w/Tojo Yamamoto defeat "The Pride of Montague County" Johnny Mantell,"Dirty" Dutch Mantell & Terry Funk. Johnny Mantell seemed to still be feeling the affects of the loaded headbutt earlier and this ultimately lead to him taking the pin after a shot with the Japanese flag by Tojo and a thrust kick by Nagasaki. Zaibatsu tried to continue the attack after the bell but Dutch grabbed Shoo baby and chased the Japanese contingent away but not before Tojo caught a couple lashes.

Glad the Freebirds are getting a rematch. The finish on the 4th was inexcusable. Orndorf is becoming a real star in Georgia. Throw in a crazy main event and you've got another great show outta Georgia!
-
Impressive performance by Mr Crockett in the opener. He announces a tournament,a mystery opponent in the main event, challenges Georgia to a rematch AND pisses off Greg Valentine all in one go! Granted that last one may not be good for his health but still. Slaughter & Kernodle are a appealing team. Wahoo & Youngblood make a big promise on which Steamboat more than delivers by bringing in Tito who immediately becomes TV champion! Love Flair stepping up to lead team Mid-Atlantic. I was oddly happy to see the Assassins win. Mid-Atlantic is must watch TV every week!

Western States Wrestling Episode 10 July 11 1986 From the KFDA-TV Studio in Amarillo Texas Airing live at Noon on WTBS Channel 17 A series of still images from the Great American Bash are shown l....Chicky Starr shoving his cigar into Jimmy Jack Funk's eye, Embry holding the World Jr Heavyweight Championship,Windham hitting a chain assisted bulldog on Smirnoff,Spot driving the Golden Spike into Chris's throat, DiBiase & Williams being awarded the NWA World Tag Team Titles & Finally Nikita Koloff standing center ring with the NWA World Heavyweight Championship around his waist. After this time usual WSW opening montage plays. We cut to Steve Stack & commissioner Frank Duesk standing in front of a joint WSW and NWA banner. Stack: Hello ladies and gentlemen i'm Steve Stack welcoming you to the first edition of Western States Wrestling at High Noon sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance, the premier governing body of professional wrestling the world over.As you saw the Great American Bash was one of the most eventful events in the history of professional wrestling and it was WSW's honor to host night 1. We'll have news from the Bash throughout the hour but first I'm thrilled to be joined by the commissioner of Western States Wrestling Mr Frank Dusek, Frank we have several new champions here in Western States including a new title. Dusek: That's right Steve you know I've made it something of a tradition to personally award the inaugural title holders in WSW their Championship belts and I see no reason to stop now. With that being said allow me the pleasure of introducing the first ever Western States Television Champion...accompanied by his manager Slick,Shaska Whatley! Whatley & Slick strut to the interview area as boos rain down. Whatley accepts the title and handshake from Dusek before raising the belt with a triumphant laugh. Slick grabs the mic. Slick: I told ya Stacky! I told ya Dukey! I told all these cowpie eating rednecks in Armadillo Texas *Booooo* that my main man the "Black Bullet" Shaska Whatley was going down in history as the first TV champion and just like everything else tha Slickster says it came tru cause when the Slickster wants something to happen he makes it happen just like snaps his fingers hahaha! Stack snatches the mic back. Stack: Are you saying you had something to do with that Vile act by Chicky Starr? Slick: Nah-nah Stackster, ya see what happened there was Funk was so angry bout being whooped pilla-to-post by my main man here he starts popping off about Starr's mama! Now tha Slickster don't approve exactedely approve of tha whole cigar thing but if a man don't defend his mama is he even a man? Dusek: Do you actually expect anyone to believe that hogwash? Slick: Well course i do Frankie D! Everybody knows that the Slickster don't do nothing but tell tha truth! Dusek: Oh yeah? Well I got some for you "Slickster" your main man here better enjoy his next week as champion because next week in the main event he makes his first defense against Scott Irwin! *The crowd pops big for both the announcement and Slick's comically offended reaction* Whatley: Who the hell has that hillbillie beat to deserve anything round hillbillies? Dusek: Well Mr Whatley, off the top of my head he's the only man in WSW to beat YOU! Whatley: Only cause i was distracted by that toy train obsessed Uncle Tom chasing Slick round ringside! Dusek: Well how about this? Nobody without a managers license is allowed at ringside. That way there's no excuse if & when he beats you AGAIN! Whatley lunges at Dusek but is held back by Slick. Slick: I shoulda known it wouldn't take 5 minutes fore the man tried to beat da man back into his place. Well guess what sucka, we already know our place and it's ahead of a washed up honky like you and we gon prove it next week! Let's go CHAMP! Slick and Whatley storm off. Stack: Well things sure got tense here in a hurry. Let's take a break to cool of than we'll be back with some exciting Western States action! Commercial break-Steve Stack runs down the Western States live events for this coming week. We return to a to Steve Stack joined by Radiance. Embry proudly has the Jr Heavyweight title over the shoulder nearest the camera. Stack: Ladies and gentlemen i'm joined know by "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers & the NEW NWA World Jr Heavyweight Champion "The Flamboyant" Eric Embry! I must congratulate you Mr Embry for winning 2 out of 3 matches during the Great American Bash although none of the results were clean. Embry: *Glaring daggers at Stack* What are you insinuating little man? Stack: I'm stating as fact sir that you may not be champion had Mr Somers not tripped Steve Regal. Somers: How dare you!? I thought i saw the referee drop his wallet and when I reached in to grab it and hand it back to him like the upstanding citizen Eric & i both are,Regal deliberately stomped his elephant foot down on my hand and i guess when I recoiled in agony he must have tripped. Thankfully my partner is such a superior athlete that he was able to land on top for his well deserved victory. Stack stares at Somers in clear disbelief then opens his mouth while raising a finger as if to make a counter point but pauses a moment before turning (mouth still opened & finger still raised to address Embry) Stack: OK Mr Embry how bout night 3 when you CLEARLY had to grab Mike Graham's tights to hold him down? Embry: Stack you must've been drunker than Charlie Platt & Gordon Solie combined if that's what you think happened! Obviously i was putting pressure on his lower back to increase my leverage as taught in any Wrestling school worth the price of admission. I notice you haven't mentioned night 2 when that sore ugly loser Mr not-so Regal cost me the victory i was clearly cruising too. But it doesn't matter because no Jr in the entire NWA with the talent, intelligence and especially looks to replace me as the face of this division just as there's no team that can stop Radiance from becoming WSW then eventually NWA World Tag Team champions. The era of Radiance is upon us people! Radiance walks away while Stack just shakes his head before sending us to the ring for our first match. Match 1 "The Latin Heartthrob" Al Perez defeats Tojo Yamamoto with a bridging German suplex. Commercial break We return to see a clearly uneasy Steve Stack joined by Kevin Sullivan & Abdullah the Butcher Stack: I'm joined by the "Taskmaster" of the Dungeon of Doom Kevin Sullivan & "The Madman from the Sudan" Abdullah the Butcher and Kevin i can only imagine how happy you are now that your Moondogs are WSW Tag Team Champions. Sullivan: Steve Stack they say if you love what you do you'll never work a day in your life and you're looking at a man who hasn't worked a day since I arrived in Western States Wrestling. When Abudadeen assigned me the task of molding WSW into his fortress he promised great rewards for success and the first of those rewards were handed down when I lead my Moondogs through the slums of Singapore to place the Tag Titles upon the alter in the temple of Ascension. As I speak my Moondogs are partaking in the ritual to elevate themselves to their next stage of consciousness. The results will be clear upon their return next week. But the rewards didn't stop there, for leading them to glory i have received the honor of introducing Abudadeen's newest most perfect creation to the world. Come lovely Jason come say hello. A man stalks to ringside. He's dressed in rags, his bald head adorned only in a hockey mask and he carries a AX that Sullivan has pry from him before the bell rings. Match 2 Jason the Terrible w/"Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan annihilates Vinnie Spearing finishing the massacre with a northern lights bomb. Commercial break We return to see Steve Stack joined by Dutch Mantell Stack: Folks i'm here with the man who in two weeks time shall challenge Jumbo Tsuruta for the WSW Heavyweight Championship at the Sports Arena,Dutch Mantell! *massive pop* Mantell: Thank y'all kindly. I'mma keep this short & sweet,Jumbo you're a great wrassler and by all accounts you hit like a mac truck but ain't the Jap been born that can keep Dutch Mantell down and if any of your buddies in Zai-boots-sue try to stick their nose in my business I'm gonna introduce'em to my girl Shoo baby! Mantell reaches into his pauncho and produces a bull whip! He gives it a good crack then heads to the ring. Match 3 "Dirty" Dutch Mantell defeats "Crazy" Carey Thompsett with the Tennessee Chainsaw. Commercial break-Steve Stack runs down the card for the Sports Arena later today Jason the Terrible w/"Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan vs U.S Steel The Glamor Boys vs The Devil's Duo w/Slick "The Latin Heartthrob" Al Perez vs "Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan The Fort Bragg Brotherhood vs Radiance Taped fist match Abdullah the Butcher w/"Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan vs Cocoa Samoa Bunkhouse Gangfight The Wild Bunch (Kendall Windham & The Long Riders) vs Devastation Inc ("Killer" Tim Brooks & Karachi Vice) w/"General" Skandar Akbar Bullrope match Chicky Starr vs Dory Funk Jr Zaibatsu (WSW Heavyweight Champion Jumbo Tsuruta,Kendo Nagasaki & Mr Pogo) w/Tojo Yamamoto vs "The Pride of Montague County" Johnny Mantell, "Dirty" Dutch Mantell & Terry Funk Before the main event Skandar Akbar barges into the interview area and grabs the mic from Stack. Akbar: At the Great American Bash i was failed by the Soviet stooge and humiliated by a beanpoll with a mop on it's head. The course correct begins now! I have fired that incompetent commie and at the Sports Arena I'll unveil the biggest surprise in Western States history and crush the Wild Bunch once and for all! Akbar shoves the mic into Stack's chest and storms off. Main event The Super Destroyer defeats "The Pride of Montague County" Johnny Mantell when Super D 2 energed from under the ring and after loading something into his mask, switched places with his partner and delivered a headbutt to Mantell for the tainted victory.

I have an uncle who would've loved to see Agent Orange eat that Combat Kick. Ross is one of the talents I'm not familiar with but good on him standing up to the Koloffs. "Never shown on any NWA program EVER" Um about that.... The artists formerly known as the Grapplers are poised to be big here. Cooley better have eyes in the back of his head when he goes against RPG's mystery man. Another heated Armstrong/Rich exchange. There's gonna be a riot in Birmingham if the Rich cousins win the World titles! The mini Brigade starts off strong. The Stud Stable may be dicks but damn their funny! Kazmaier is gonna have some frustration to take out on Rose. It's literally federal law that CCW has to end in mass chaos. And I'm so thankful for that. I've been a big fan of your work for a while now and I'm really happy you're back.

Mid-South signs Ray Candy & Don Diamond

How nice of Idol to liven up Lance's intro. The Universal Heartthrob is gonna make a fun champ. A successful debut for Earthquake Ferris. I'm pulling for the Golden Boys to become Tag Champs. I got a funny feeling that the Gagne men are up to something. Watch this space. Ox & his Beasts accept their defeat less than gracefully. Bock vs Wahoo Indian Strap match, Let's get it! Dream Machine gonna celebrate his surviving Rage in the Cage by becoming World Champion Babay! The Fabs make a logical argument...which is the best argument for heels. Billy Joe Travis got himself a hit alright. Steamboat must've got mood whiplash going from the surprisingly respectful St Clair to the menacing Ox Baker. Pumped for Steamboat vs Hayes! The AWA doesn't seem to be slowing down after WrestleRock!
-
Mid-South signs George Wells & Bugsy McGraw
-
The Masked Avenger goes 2-0 over the Vice Squad with a little help from the Midnights & Bubba. Luckily Burke is there and they seemingly make their alliance official. Atlas & Simmons must have had the Victoria Memorial Arena shaking from the force of the blows thrown. The Midnights & Black Gold break even giving the fans some hope for the challengers. Brickhouse returns from injury with a spirited showing against Chavo Classic. Miller & Windham send us off the air with a wild brawl to send the Portland faithful home excited. PCW continues to show just how few bells and whistles wrestling really needs.
-
The first proper episode of Mid-South in a while doesn't disappoint! Nothing starts a night of Mid-South off like Ladd & Watts sniping at each other. The Patriots get off to a hot start. Young blows a big opportunity to be apart of the Shiek's stable. Should keep an eye on this. Loved Hayes's promo, heels are at their best when they genuinely believe they've been wronged. Reed/Bart is the kinda hoss fight that just screams Mid-South. Some promising talent In those dark matches. I'm sure Jackson loved "The Mighty Yankee"

Mid-South signs Plowboy Frazier & Jerry Stubs

Rough night for the monsters as Bennett fails to capture the TV Title then they lose the Trios titles! What's important here is to remember that absolutely none of this is Medusa's fault. Nice work using duel title match to advance the Purdue/Mitchell feud. I was gonna say this in the review of your last show but thanks for being apart if GAB. Don't worry about the schedule. Things happen.
-
Independence day is good to Cowboy Bob as he beats DVE then helps Dick Slater beat down Flair.... ....But not as good as it is to Tully & Gino! Both tag straps AND the six man straps with Kabuki. Gary Hart's men rule Mid-Atlantic! Two great 4th of July shows from two great territories.
-
Taylor & Rotunda are a solid opening match face team. Mad Dog Sawyer with the 2X4 help Sullivan & Borne get the win in the Tornado tag match. Could be a scary faction forming. Orndorf dispatches O in a gimme title defense. Ok i love Hanson as much as anyone but how the hell do forget who is & isn't in the match? Ole avenges Gene by damn near breaking Barry's shoulder. The war between Georgia & Mid-Atlantic is getting serious. Wildfire becomes double champion in the cage! He'll yeah baby! Georgia does the 4th right.
-
WSW releases Alexis Smirnoff WSW signs Butch Moffat
-
Alright time for night 2! How the hell did I forget to have someone sing national anthem? Regal costs Horner the title & Embry the match in one move. Regal's gonna have folks talking bout him for sure which is just how he likes it! Davis does better than expected but still gets steamrolled. Maybe he'll learn to respect the ladies. Sarge arrives just in time to ruin the evil foreigners win. Khan vs Slaughter let's get it! 45 minutes with Jumbo....50 minutes with BOTH Masked Superstars. Magnum T.A is gonna dig clear through to China to find enough to beat Nikita! CCW must of had Pensacola rocking all night!
-
WrestleRock is finally here! The Fabs may have just shut Southern Justice up for good. Any more BattenRock shirts left? The battle of the Billy Jacks is over and it's the original Billy Jack Hayes who stands tall with HIS name reclaimed. In the end all Moretti's ruthlessness couldn't stand up to a pissed off cowboy. I never heard of Billy Joe Travis before but I can't wait till the Bruise Brothers get a hold of him. Big win for Priceless though. Colon shows Kamala who the real savage is. Title shot coming soon? Haystacks losing cause a rope snapped under his weight is the kinda thing that'd be scary at the time but'd be hilarious today. Oh damn Ox screws up royal and costs his beasts the National Tag Titles! I'm sure he'll humbly accept responsibility. Rage in the cage is the best kind of car crash. Capped off by sole survivor Dream Machine Babay! Gagne (& Duker) get the asswhooping he's had coming forever. Seems Verne is finally ready to take action regarding his son. Bock is vicious in route to a win by referee stoppage. Vin Man cost the Highwaymen a win and gets piledrove to hell. Idiot. The Universal Heartthrob finally has the one thing that can make him look even better,Gold. The king makes a triumphant return putting down the Superstar in the latest chapter in their never ending feud. Heel Fabulous Ones! Was that ever a thing? St Clair & Thornton both try everything they can think of but WrestleRock belongs to the Dragon! Doesn't matter if you're USWA or AWA, your supercards rule!

July 3rd 1986 McNicholas Sports Arena Denver Colorado Airing live on close circuit television The National Wrestling Alliance & Western States Wrestling present The Great American Bash night 1 (A montage of action from NWA territories past & present ends on the NWA logo and a voice-over that says "The National Wrestling Alliance,The past, present & future of professional wrestling. Fade to black.) "America was not built on fear,America was built on courage,on imagination, and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand" Harry S Truman [Open] to a fireworks display, shots of American families together & American troops standing stoiclly. Narrater: As we come together to celebrate the birth of a nation we remember the sacrifices that made it possible.... The intro turns into a montage of WSW action, Kendall Windham hitting a lariat,Smirnoff standing tall over a body buried under the Soviet flag,Dungeon of Doom bloody-ing their opponents,The Youngbloods emotional title win,Zaibatsu staring ominously at the camera while Tojo waves the Japanese flag & The Funk Brothers celebrating amongst the Amarillo faithful. ...And the challenges we've still too endure. Over the next three nights we celebrate America and the spirit that birthed her. (Red,white & blue fireworks explode revealing the GAB logo as "Living in America" by James Brown plays) Narrater: The National Wrestling Alliance is proud to present...Night 1 of The Great American Bash! We cut to a sweeping shot of a sold out McNicholas Sports Arena filled to bursting with screaming fans, many waving homemade signs. A pyro display brings the cameras attention to the entrance marked by a massive hanging GAB symbol. The viewer can see the elevated walkway which will have the fans along the aisle looking up at the wrestlers. We cut to a tuxedoed Steve Stack at ringside commentary. Stack: Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to night 1 of the three night wrestling extravaganza the Great American Bash! 6 titles are on the line, scores will be settled & careers will be made as the greatest athletes this sport has to offer collide. And now I send to the ring and the special ring announcer for all three nights of the Bash,Gary Michael Cappetta! We cut to a tuxedoed Cappetta standing center ring, the mat has the GAB logo on it and the ropes are in descending order red, white & blue. Cappetta: Ladies and gentlemen this is your opening contest for night 1 of the Great American Bash *Huge pop*it is set for 1 falk with a 20 minute time limit and is the first match in a one night round robin tournament to determine the undisputed NWA World Tag Team champions! *Somehow bigger pop* "Amarillo by morning" by George Straitt comes over the pa system as Dory Funk Jr & Terry Funk emerge on stage to a monster reaction. Cappetta: introducing team number 1,from the Double Cross Ranch in Amarillo Texas, combined weight 520lbs Dory Funk Jr & Terry Funk! The Funks hit the ring playing to the crowd,Terry looking even more animated than usual while Dory has a more measured but still excited look on his face. The party ends as "End of the Century" by Seikima-2 roars over the pa system. Tojo leads his men out waving the Japanese flag to thunderous boos. Cappetta: And their opponents hailing from the empire of Japan, accompanied by their manager Tojo Yamamoto, combined weight 248 kilos Kendo Nagasaki...Mr Pogo....Zaibatsu! The Japanese contingent storm the ring. Pogo & Terry rush each other and start throwing haymakers. Kendo & Dory square off. Tojo tries to blast Terry with the flag but he ducks & Tojo hits Pogo in the arm! Before the stunned manager can go for another swing Terry pulls him into a atomic drop that sends the hated manager through the ropes. Seeing Pogo regroup Terry charges in for a clothesline that sends them both over the top allowing the bell to finally ring! Match 1 The Funk Brothers vs Zaibatsu w/Tojo Yamamoto After about 14 minutes of chaos ( interrupted occasionally by a scientific display by Dory) The Funks get the win when in a callback to their first meeting Terry counters a Kendo back body drop attempt into a piledriver! Winners and up a win in the tournament,The Funk Brothers! Stack walks the crowd through a recap of the TV Title tournament so far with each man's road being shown in clips. "Amarillo by morning" pipes up again as Jimmy Jack makes his way down. Cappetta: The following contest is the finals of the WSW Television Title Tournament! It is set for 1 fall with a 10 minute time limit. Introducing first from the Double Cross Ranch in Amarillo Texas he weighs 242 lbs. Jimmy Jack Funk! Funk waves to the crowd as "Jive Soul Bro" blares over the pa system. Slick dances ahead in a rather nice pimp suit while Whatley swaggers behind in a suit jacket and a particularparticularly nice bowler. Cappetta: And his opponent, accompanied by his manager Slick, from Chattanooga Tennessee he weighs 245 lbs "Black Bullet Shaska Whatley! Match 2 Jimmy Jack Funk vs "Black Bullet" Shaska Whatley w/Slick As soon as the bell rings the two men go at it hard with both displaying a mixture of wrestling & brawling. A couple minutes in Chicky Starr makes his way to ringside in a Tony Montana style suit complete with sunglasses, fedora & large cigar. With about 2 mins left the 2 combatants are trading stiff forearms in the middle of the ring. A particularly nasty one from Whatley has JJ leaning through the ropes and while the ref is holding Whatley back Starr takes the opportunity to stick his cigar in Funk's face! The crowd & Stack are horrified and even Slick appears shocked but Cappetta's announcement of 1 min remaining pulls him out of it and he frantically urges his man to capitalize. A scoop powerslam is all It takes to finish the injured Funk off. Winner and inaugural WSW Television Champion, "Black Bullet" Shaska Whatley! The official hands the title to Whatley as medical staff rush to check JJ's eye. A pair of pre-recorded promos from the champion & challenger in the upcoming match for the World Jr Heavyweight Championship match air. Massive boos as "You shook me all night" comes over the pa system. Cappetta: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 20 minute time limit and is for the NWA World Jr Heavyweight Championship! Introducing the challenger, being accompanied by "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers, he hails from Dallas Texas and weighs 224 lbs "The Flamboyant" Eric Embry! The champ comes down to "Electricity" by Midnight Star Cappetta: And his opponent, hailing from Ft Lauderdale Florida, he weighs 222lbs and is the reigning, defending NWA World Jr Heavyweight Champion.. "Mr Electricity" Steve Regal! Match 3 NWA World Jr Heavyweight Championship match "Mr Electricity" Steve Regal(c) vs "The Flamboyant" Eric Embry w/"Pretty Boy" Doug Somers What follows is a solid match with a rather comedic element as the two heels try to prove not so much who's the better wrestler as who's the better cheater. While the champ is prepared to go quite low indeed it's a well timed trip from Somers during a suplex attempt that seals the deal. Winner AND NEW NWA World Jr Heavyweight Champion, "The Flamboyant" Eric Embry! A smirking Embry is handed his new prize and basks in both the congratulations from his partner and especially the boos from the crowd who are not looking forward to Embry somehow becoming more insufferabley arrogant than he already was. After a brief pause to clear to allow the Jrs to make their way to the back, "End of the Century" roars over the pa system again as a particularly pissed off looking Zaibatsu make their way down. Cappetta: This is the next match in the tournament to determine the undisputed NWA World Tag Team champions. Introducing team number 1 hailing from the empire of Japan and accompanied by Tojo Yamamoto, Kendo Nagasaki,Mr Pogo....Zaibatsu! "Boomer Sooner" comes over the pa system to a (mostly) positive reaction as DiBiase & Williams charge the ring. Cappetta: And their opponents hailing from Omaha Nebraska & Norman Oklahoma respectively, at a combined weight 544lbs. They are the recognized reigning & defending NWA World Tag Team champions....Ted DiBiase & Steve "Dr Death" Williams! Match 4 Ted DiBiase & Steve "Dr Death" Williams(c) vs Zaibatsu w/Tojo Yamamoto 16 mins of stiff, intense action end with Williams socking Tojo in the jaw as for getting on the apron only to turn into the mist from Nagasaki as the referee is getting Tojo back to his corner. This allows Pogo to lock in the Japanese sleeper (i.e dragon sleeper) and choke Doc out while Kendo held DiBiase at bay. Winners and breaking even in the tournament, Zaibatsu! A video package details the rivalry between Devastation Inc & The Wild Bunch with particular emphasis on Smirnoff's role keeping Windham from another shot at Brooks. The simply titled "State anthem of the Soviet Union" is nearly drown out by the patriotic WSW faithful as as a flag waiving Smirnoff & Akbar march to the ring. Cappetta: The following contest is a Russian chain match! It is scheduled for one fall with a 30 minute time limit. Introducing first, accompanied by "General" Skandar Akbar, representing Devastation Inc, hailing from the U.S.S.R, he weighs 116 kilos "The Russian Hammer" Alexis Smirnoff! Smirnoff & Akbar shout the worst insults they can think of from the center of the ring. Their mood sours even further as "A country boy can survive" and the crowd erupts into cheers as Kendall Windham strides down waving the stars n stripes! Cappetta: And his opponent, representing the Wild Bunch, hailing from Sweetwater Texas,he weighs 218 lbs...Kendall Windham! Match 5 Russian chain match: "The Russian Hammer" Alexis Smirnoff w/"General" Skandar Akbar vs Kendall Windham The two skip the customary tug-of-war and just start pounding on each other. The chain is used in every conceivable manner to inflect pain with a particularly frightening scene having Smirnoff wrap the chain around Windham's neck and attempt to hang the young Texan though thankfully Windham was able to snap the Russian's neck down across the top rope. The end comes with a bloody Windham wrapping the chain around his arm for a extra impactful lariat! But instead of going for the cover he pulls Smirnoff up wraps the chain around his head and spikes the Russian with a bulldog to finish a grueling 15 minutes. Winner: Kendall Windham As Akbar is berating a unconscious Smirnoff he spots Windham trying to pull himself up in the corner. In a rage Akbar rushes in and starts pounding on the exhausted Windham. He stops to yell at Smirnoff some more with the camera picking up what sounds like "You're fired!" before turning to resume attacking Windham but is caught by a lariat! Windham tiredly rolls to the floor and leaves to a rousing reaction. A video package play hyping up the Upcoming NWA World Women's Championship match. We see Debbie Combs defeating Wendy Richter and holding the title aloft followed by Moretti winning a battle royal to earn this opportunity. The challenger swaggers to the ring to the tune of "Maneater" by Hall & Oates proudly displaying her two titles (which Steve Stack points out are not on the line) Cappetta: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 30 minute time limit and is for the NWA World Women's Championship! Introducing the challenger she is the NWA Texas Women's Champion & the WWW Fighting Spirit Champion. From Seattle Washington,Lisa Moretti! The champion proudly walks to the ring to "Hit me with your best shot" by Pat Benatar. Cappetta: And her opponent, hailing from Nashville Tennessee she is the reigning, defending NWA World Women's Champion...Debbie Combs! Match 6 NWA World Women's Championship match Debbie Combs(c) vs Lisa Moretti This one starts slow building gradually to a eclectic finish. The good ol boys in the crowd and much of the viewing audience have grown accustomed to a Women's match consisting of about 3 mins of slapping and hair pulling so they are first surprised and eventually amazed at the 20+ minutes of back and forth action the two ladies put on. The finish comes when the challenger goes for a desperation powerslam only for the champion to slip out and hit a neckbreaker for the victory. Winner AND STILL NWA World Women's Champion:Debbie Combs A video package highlights the upcoming WSW Tag Team Titles putting emphasis on the Moondogs brutality & the Youngbloods athleticism. "The Moondogs" by Richard Lee comes over the pa system as Kevin Sullivan guides the borderline rabid Moondogs to the ring. Cappetta: The following contest is a steel cage match for the Western States Wrestling Tag Team Championship.
