  1. Current Continental Classic Leaderboard. Blue League. 9pts: Andrade El Idolo 6pts: Brody King & Bryan Danielson 3pts: Eddie Kingston & Claudio Castagnoli 0pts: Daniel Garcia (eliminated) Gold League. 12pts: Jon Moxley 9pts: Swerve Strickland & Jay White 6pts: Rush 0pts: Jay Lethal & Mark Briscoe (eliminated)
  2. Looks like some good news for OVW. https://www.wrestlezone.com/news/1428639-ovw-enters-new-strategic-partnership-with-genvec-ventures-plans-us-tour-in-2024
  3. Macho Man and the Giant make for an exciting addition of the Brother Love show. Love the end of show promos.
  4. As someone who has been watching them from their golden period of 2005-2009 through the dark days of the Pop TV era, it's been genuinely heartwarming to see how far they've come under Scott D'Amore (and for a period Don Callis). Dave Penzer has never been my favorite ring announcer but I do wish him well.
  5. Damn! Mrs Kentucky's show AND a fireball? Jamie and Papa-san got the hell beat out of them. I got a bad feeling about Bass' trip to Falk's school. Well that title reign didn't last long! Congratulations to the Wildside. I'm sure Reno is just thrilled.
  6. NWA drops Mark Laurentius and signs Bart Sawyer.
  7. The Warlord of the Wasteland continues his rampage. To be fair to the ref, Terri seems like the kind of woman who can make a man miss the obvious. Reed's campaign against the Nation steps up a notch as both sides add a new recruit. Piper and the Funkers exchange was everything I thought it'd be. The LC hold onto the gold with some help from the Dr. After tonight, Hansen has plenty of reason to be mad at Murdoch. In his own mind anyway. Loved all the details in the battle royal and especially the ending of Luger handing the win to Sting.
  8. And your winners of the 2023 World Tag League.... Bishoman! This makes them the first team to win the tournament three years in a row and for Goto specifically it makes him a record setting five time winner. After defeating GoD they promptly challenged them to a rematch at Wrestle Kingdom 18 but this time it's Title vs Title.
  9. December 22nd looks to be the biggest night in UWF history! Pretty cool of Maeda and Takada to take care of their fans like that.
  10. Between the Jackal and Barr's two new friends, I wonder what Cactus thinks of the direction the Wild Things are taking.
  11. NWA releases Barry O, Angel of Death, Sean Royal, Chris Champion Steve Lombardi and Jim Powers. NWA also releases Precious from the managers list and Butch Moffitt to retirement. This should bring me into the 60 talent cap.
  12. I just looked up the results of One Shot and here are a few thoughts. MLW should seriously consider separating its TV tapings from its PPVs. By the time One Shot proper began, the fans in the Melrose Ballroom had sat through TEN matches. Granted a number of them were rather short but still i have too imagine they were a bit winded by that point. Why did they have Kojima go over Lawler? I love Koji as much as the next guy and i know he's a former MLW World champion but Lawler is around much more often, is also a former World champion among a few other accomplishments. Related to the above, they gave the event the gimmick of being "co-promoted" with the World Titan Federation -the faction led by Mr Saint Laurent- then have them lose all their matches. It seems like if your going to put their logo on the events logo they should be made to look strong but the best they did was have Hammerstone win a bodybuilding contest that THEY sponsored and have their newest member Richard Holiday lay out Kane after he beat the factions "crown jewel".
  13. The 2023 World Tag League Finals are set. It's champions vs champions as Bishamon take on GoD.
  14. Flowers is getting seriously good at swinging that chair. The Fantastics and Los Guerreros are keeping it friendly... for now anyway. Larry Z is putting up a tough front. Utter chaos in the second six man tag of the night. Honestly I think you've got the making of another Wargames here. Adias is going all in on this gimmick, him taking credit for the celebrity ring announcer was classic. Things get too crazy for the ref and the Asylum takes advantage. Kerry's interview descends into chaos when Gordy tries to make good on his promise. Nice booked promos between Stevens/Jumbo and Nikita.
  15. Current Continental Classic Leaderboard Blue League 6 pts: Brody King, Andrade El Idolo & Bryan Danielson 3 pts: Claudio Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston 0 pts: Daniel Garcia (eliminated) Gold League 9 pts: Jon Moxley and Swerve Strickland 6 pts: Jay White 3 pts: Rush 0 pts: Jay Lethal & Mark Briscoe (both eliminated)
  16. Okada coming to TNA to make it rain baby! Also, gotta say it's pretty big of them to acknowledge they messed up last time.
  17. PCW just signed itself a living, breathing war machine! If you get it, you get it.
  18. The 2023 World Tag League Semifinals are set. Bullet Club War Dogs (Alex Coughlin & Gabe Kidd) vs IWGP Tag Team Champions Bishoman (Hirooki Goto & Yoshi-Hashi) TMDK (Shane Haste & Mikey Nicholas) vs New Japan Strong Tag Team Champions Guerrillas of Destiny (Hikuleo & EL Phantasamo)
  19. Bad News and the Warrior will make for an exciting brawl. HTM gets his shot at the IC title at SNME. Sullivan and Rotunda are getting aggressive with their recruitment drive. Savage has a Giant challenge ahead. Rude and Roberts could trade promos every week and I'd be happy. Hart and Bravo just straight up admitting they're planning to cheat their asses off really got me. Santana doesn't seem as impressed with Muta as the rest of us. The Towers are marching to gold. Beefcake can't wait to get Taylor in the chair. The Rockers are already looking to double up. But Demolition is laying waste to everyone in their path.
  20. I had a feeling I was forgetting something.
  21. Here are my year end trades. NWA sends Michael Hayes, Jimmy Garvin and Chris Benoit to the WWF for the Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff and The Killer Bees. NWA sends Tully Blanchard to WCW in exchange for a loan on Buddy Landel, Dick Slater and 2 Cold Scorpio. NWA sends Joe Lightfoot and Bill Kazmaier to AWA for Badd Company and Baby Doll. If I messed anything please let me know.
  22. (I've decided to take a Christmas season break from the game. Please accept this in lieu of weekly TV) December 1988 edition. This Month in the National Wrestling Alliance. The Four Horsemen Starrcade 88 was a terrible night to be a Horsemen. With Harley Race &Ole Anderson not only losing their World Tag Team Titles but Tully Blanchard's 4th reign with the NWA World Heavyweight Title came to an end at the hands (of stone) of Ron Garvin. This has hit the San Antonio native particularly hard as he apparently demanded the decision be reversed and when that failed he quit the company in a rage. Group manager JJ Dillon has quickly changed the subject by dropping a announcement as massive as it is difficult too believe, that the "Nature Boy" will return to the Four Horsemen! The Patriots try to regroup. The Horsemen weren't the only ones dealing with the pain of losing their gold (indeed fans will recall the every title changed hands at Starrcade) and some are having tougher times then others. Firebreaker Chip Todd Champion, collectively known as the Patriots, lost their United States Tag Team Titles to the Sheepherders and in the weeks since have struggled to regain momentum. Wahoo goes for gold. At Starrcade Wahoo McDaniel finally triumphed over his detested rival Joe Lightfoot, establishing himself as the one true "Chief" of the National Wrestling Alliance. After taking a week off to recuperate, McDaniel returned and declared that with his rival finally behind him it was time to reassert himself in the title picture. In particular he singled out the NWA Heritage held by The Super Destroyer as being in his sights. Sawyer won't stay down. Brett Sawyer has been agonizing Al Perez over who has the superior German suplex. This culminated in a match at Starrcade was signed where the loser would be barred from using the move ever again where Perez emerged victorious. This seemed to be the end but on the Dec 9 episode of NWA Main Event, Sawyer would attack Perez and cut off a piece of his hair. The next week Sawyer said that Perez "stole" his move, he was going to steal what clearly meant so much to "The Latin Heartthrob", his looks. With that the challenge was thrown down for a Hair vs Hair match. Day One. On Dec 16 the final episode of NWA Main Event of 1988 before the traditional 2 week recap began. On that episode it was announced that the National Wrestling Alliance would be holding a special event on New Years Day called "Day One". This event will air live on the USA Network from the Robarts Arena in Sarasota Florida and will feature a mix of returning talent and others making their debut. One returning act will be the pair of B. Brian Blair & "Jumping" Jim Brunzell collectively known as the Killer Bees. They'll be taking on a debuting tandem known only as The Eliminators. Not much is known about them but NWA officials are said to be impressed by what they've seen so far. Speaking of tag team action, in their quest to correct course The Patriots have issued an open challenge. Another major match being promoted for the event is the "Gold Rush" where 20 men will compete in a over the top rope until two men remain. Those two men will then meet in the "Day One" main event with the winner being declared the #1 contender for the NWA World Heavyweight Title. The full card for NWA Day One is as follows... "Gold Rush" battle royal. The Patriots open challenge. The return of the "Nature Boy" The Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) vs The Eliminators NWA Heritage Title The Super Destroyer(c) w/"Number One" Paul Jones vs "Chief" Wahoo McDaniel Main Event. NWA World Heavyweight Title #1 contender match. TBD vs TBD
  23. Having watched a good amount of NWA Wildside/Anarchy I'm actually quite familiar with David Young. He and Albright should make a formidable duo.
  24. Okay folks we're in the closing stretch of World Tag League and thanks to a helpful Reddit user, I can confirm that the following teams have a chance to advance from their blocks... From Block A we have TMDK, War Dogs and Chaos (Ishii & Yano). From Block B we have Monstersauce, Just 5 Guys, Hikuleo & ELP and Bishoman. Who you got in the semi's, finals and who takes it all?
  25. Per wikipedia, the Orlando show will host the "League Finals" which will see the top two competitors in each block square off with the winners advancing to World's End.
