  1. Wyatts vs. Best Beard - I think the biggest problem is that Punk isn't a very compelling FIP. Combine that with Rowan and the early run was lukewarm. I thought Punk-Harper was good and Bryan-Harper was good as well. Hot finish so no complaints.
  2. Cena vs. Del Rio - This matchup feels like Orton-Bryan where the match is fine but there is nothing to get excited about. Good match but I don't care for the match-up if that makes sense.
  3. Mark Henry vs. Ryback - Besides that awkward splash in the beginning, this was ok. Love seeing Big Mark back.
  4. I fucking knew Mark Henry was coming out!!!!
  5. Divas Match - I was watching this match to see how they would book it. Sadly, I don't think there will ever come a point where the Divas can turn the corner in the ring with this batch.
  6. Big E vs. Axel - Nothing match.
  7. I don't find anything compelling about his promos at all. This isn't Dutch playing guitar in his house with Lance Russell or talking about Vietnam. As for the Elimination Match, I enjoyed the entire thing including Ambrose's early elimination.
  8. Me and Dylan have a huge disconnect on Zeb. Anyway... Usos, Rhodes Family & Rey Mysterio vs. The Shield & American Pie - Hell, has there ever been an elimination Survior Series match as good as this one? I can't think of one off the top of my head. Everyone looked pretty damn good and I loved how the Shield came back and tied up the odds and then got the win in the end. You can tell they are going to strap the rocket to Reigns real soon.
  9. HAH! Didn't know they did commercial breaks in the pre-show.
  10. Kofi vs. Miz - There aren't two guys I care less about. Heard the theme music. Went back to working on Lawler set.
  11. Looking over the card, this does NOT look like the worst PPV WWE has ever put on.
  12. THis could hit 60 discs. I just know when I was compiling the footage and match lists that I would price any sane person out of buying the set if I didn't split it into two.
  13. Been watching a shitload of Lawler for the upcoming Lawler set (part 1 drops in 7-10 days) and here are some thoughts on some matches I have watched for Part 2. Phil Schneider reviewed the following at http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/ Jerry Lawler vs. Kamala 1/18/03- I made the comment to Phil is could have taken place 20 years earlier in the Mid South coliseum and he responded that it DID take place 20 years earlier. The difference is that the clips I have seen of earlier matchus had Kamala mauling Lawler in squash mode. This was much more even Steven with a little extended Kamala control segment in the middle where Lawler bumps huge for Kamala. Nice epic top rope fist drop finish and I really liked this. Phil thought it was epic. I thought it was great. Still well worth watching. Jerry Lawler vs. Coach and Joey Mercury (NEW 2007)- I watched this with KrisZ and it felt like a mess. Mercury is a decent heel here but this is right after he was fired from WWE and it sort of shows he was a mess. Lawler bumps well enough but Mercury's offense was uninspiring. I may have to watch this match again but I hope to never see Lawler give Coach another Stunner as long as I live. Joey Lawler vs. Joey Mercury (NEW 2007)- I was not looking forward to this match after the Coach match but it's about 8 months later and Mercury cut off his braids. This is like Mercury's tribute to Memphis heels and I mean that in the best way possible. Jawing with the fans, using his necklace as a foreign object and playing "hide the chain" with said necklace. Early on, he drops Lawler with three body slams and acts as if he was Hogan slamming Andre. Later on, when Lawler slammed Joey three times, it felt like the heel got what he deserved. Lawler reminds us that he is the greatest puncher of all time and I loved Joey hitting his top rope fist for the receipt but missing the 2nd. They did the same spot in the Coach match but it didn't feel important. Hee it turned the tide of the match. Great little stretch run with Lawler hitting a backdrop, Joey returning the backdrop, goes for another, puts his head down, Lawler hooks him... Piledriver. End of story. Both Kris and I loved this match so go out of your way to see it.

I was going to go even more extreme and say at worst a MOTYC and at best, a MOTD contender.
  15. It depends on how old the person is. Cecil B. DeMille, Charlie Chaplan, John Ford, Frank Capra and Alfred Hitchcock were all famous in their lifetimes. Actors like Ron Howard and Clint Eastwood obviously have added notoriety. More people would have heard of Woody Allen than have seen his films. Spike Lee would be known amongst sports fans. Oliver Stone was big for a while. People may know Kubrick too. Yeah, I disqualify Chaplin, Howard and Eastwood because of their acting careers. Hitchcock is a great one. I knew who Hitchcock was when I was in grade school.
  16. My favorite idea and something wrestling fans would eat up would be the VH1 model. Remember the 80s or Remember the 90s... Year by year with celebs and wrestlers commenting on famous moments from around the country. Best matches of Mnia, Summerslam, Starrcade, etc with commentary and clips of the matches.
  17. That is why I would like data on Dick vs. Doc in Japan. Was Doc really more successful than Murdoch in Japan?
  18. I wasnt keeping up with this thread until the last time Sorrow and I were talking on the phone. He claimed most people who grew up in the 80s would know the name John Hughes. I claimed most people would have no idea who John Hughes was. After the conversation, i asked my wife, "who's John Hughes?" She had no idea but she has seen every Hughes film mentioned in this thread. As afar as directors, I thik people would definitely recognize Speilberg and maybe Lucas. after that, would the average peson recognize any director? Scorcese? Coppola?
  19. Listening to the Observer podcast, I was bummed to hear Dave say that Dickie was a legend in Japan and that if he was on the Japan ballot, he would have been in long ago. in the same discussion, Dr. death was brought up and getting in since he was in the Japanese section. Does anyone have any data to compare Dick's run to Docs? It seems like a shitty thing to do that Dick would be a sure Hall of Famer if he was put in another section but is held off because he was also really successful in America too. If Dick and Doc's Japanese careers were comparable but Dick was much more successful in America as a draw and top name, how do we justify leaving him out but Doc gets in because of where he was placed on the ballot?
  20. Ha, are you trolling me?

I missed the main event. I heard it was good. I will be sure to tape SD! this week since the main event is supposed to be the Real Americans vs. Rhodes Brothers.
  22. I didn't say you said it. I said I expect it.
  23. What are the cards for those Mike?
  24. It was fine. He seemed like a nice guy. Tried to get him to bite on Regal-Arn (which he hated in the past).
  25. Lawler was the best at selling an upcoming show while talking about his Softball team, certainly. Did anyone get exactly what he wanted out of wrestling better than him? No.
