  1. Looking over Graham's '86 results, it looks like Owen only worked the house show circuit, mostly in Canada. He dd work the final All Star Wrestling taping, but Graham's page doesn't indicate that the match aired.
  2. This has been the best SMW thing I've watched since I picked up and started the 1992 season.
  3. I rather enjoyed the Stallions/Rougeaus match from the 5/88 MSG show.
  4. The ten man tag that got axed from 'Mania (because the heels couldn't decide who the captain was) and wound up being on RAW a couple weeks later.
  5. The Ken Patera/Pedro Morales WWF IC Title change from MSG in December '80. Rougeau Brothers vs. Hart Foundation from Montreal in '87, the Rougeaus win the WWF Tag Titles before decision is reversed. The league match between Misawa and Taue from the '96 Carny.
  6. I saw this for the first time a few months ago, and I was with Loss. I just couldn't understand the big deal besides Bret getting opened up and the finish wasn't typical of the WWF. I'm probably gonna watch this again sometime soon, so I'm hoping something changes for me.
  7. So basically, Alvarez ranks him so highly because of a worked accomplishment and the fact that he was a bit player in an angle that's widely considered to a huge disappointment.
  8. Tito/JYD vs. Valentine/Beefcake (before they officially formed the Dream Team) from April '85 is fun. In their backstage promo, JYD coins Brutus "Brutus Fruitcake" which I recall quite a few people stealing when doing interviews about him.
  9. I mentioned a few pages back about the Owen Hart "Kicked your leg out of your leg" promo. I actually watched the '94 Rumble PPV for the first time the other night, and I think the whole segment should be earmarked. The video package with Owen and Bret's dissension, the match, and the angle and promo.
  10. I'm pretty sure guys on Legends contracts can still work indies, but obviously the WWE's commitments come first. My local indy has brought in plenty of WWE legends guys over the last couple of years, Jerry Lawler has even done a couple of shots.
  11. DISCLAIMER: It's been years since I've seen it. But I really enjoyed Steamboat vs. Beefcake from 5/26/85 (included on the Steamboat Coliseum Video).
  12. Cena does the Super FU and Punk has done the Super G2S. I feel like Daniel Bryan has done some off the top throws as well. Angle used to be fucking in love with running up the corner suplexing his opponent off.
  13. I'm just talking hypothetically here, although I'd love to sit down with a bunch of Flair matches and check it out, but couldn't one argue that Flair intentionally does things like that in order to lull his opponent into a false sense of security? They think they've got Flair right where they want him, and then Flair can pounce with the nutshot or roll them up and grab the tights/ropes and keep the title?
  14. I couldn't tell you the last time I saw someone do the back body drop counter to the piledriver into a pinning position.
  15. I don't get why they'd book Nash/Davey Boy in Canada in the first place. Heel or not, Davey is bound to have his share of fans up in Canada with his connection to the Hart family and history in Stampede.
  16. See Windham, Barry. Also Rhodes, Dustin. BTW, I didn't just pull the Davey/Eddie example out of thin air when trying to give my definition of psych. I purposely used an example where leg work would be meaningful to the hypothetical match. For every match with meaningful leg work like that, there are probably 1000 where it's strictly filler and has no meaning or impact at all.
  17. Your not alone, dude. Whenever anyone does top ten RAW moment countdowns, that one is usually right at the top to the list, with good reason. Does anyone else find it weird that Austin, who'd been swearing up a storm all year, got all offended and mad at Gorilla for telling him to get his ass out of the building?
  18. If that's the case, he "got it" in a hurry then. The 5/1/89 Copps Coliseum show is basically Rude wrestling himself for 20 minutes or so, and is quite the fun match.,
  19. Will, can you clarify something with that statement? By Briscoe and Dory, do you mean both wrestlers in general, or do you mean matches between Brisco and Dory?
  20. Brother, it's pro wrestling. It's not intended to be highbrow, high concept stuff.
  21. I've always hated that argument. It strikes me as a knee-jerk reaction when trying to defend something that doesn't seem to hold up under higher scrutiny.
  22. Simply put, psychology is why the wrestlers do what they do. Example: Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards are fighting on the floor. Davey fires off a roundhouse kick, but Eddie ducks and Davey winds up kicking the post. Eddie gets Davey in the ring and starts attacking the knee. Why is Eddie doing this? A. Because Davey just screwed himself up and is hurt. B. Because he can soften up Davey for the half crab, which is his finisher C. With Davey having a bad wheel, he'll be less likely to KO Eddie with one his roundhouse kicks. It's all of the above, they all make perfectly logical sense. That's good psychology.
  23. Agreed. I wasn't talking about ranking the all time greats when I made that statement. This is more in tune with what I'm talking about, actually. When it comes to "workrate" I don't think too many people will argue that Tully Blanchard was better than Hulk Hogan in 1986. I also don't think too many people will argue that if they were put into each other's roles, it wouldn't have worked out too well.
  24. A world where workrate isn't king = reality Workrate is important, but it's far from the be all end all of wrestling.
  25. I just ordered that show, along with a few other WWF house shows, on the strength of Hogan/Steele (more accurately Hogan doing a ring out job to Steele) as well as the novelty of the Freebirds and the Spoiler.
