  1. Jericho vs. Goldberg from Badd Blood (I believe) 2003 was pretty damn good. WAY better than the quickie squash of Jericho they'd have had in 1998.
  2. Loss or Will, do you guys have any sort of idea what all years will be covered with the year books? If you intend on doing the year 2000, then I'd advise the Misawa/Akiyama TC match from this year. It'd be an interesting comparison to Akiyama's first win over Misawa in 2000. Standalone, though, it didn't do much for me.
  3. One thing I miss about those days were how long wrestlers would sell for. Yoko put Duggan on the shelf until the spring, and he was still so hurt that Bam Bam beat him pretty easily during King of the Ring. If they did this same angle on RAW, the injury would last all of two weeks tops.
  4. That's discussed in "The Death of WCW" as well. Hall was supposedly telling people there was no chance of him ever getting fired because of his capacity as a witness in the lawsuit.
  5. I don't really recall it being mentioned until 'Taker faced Orton at 'Mania 21.
  6. There's a kid up here who's been working for about a year, under the name Kevin Graham. A friend of mine and I decided that his finisher should be "The Graham Cracker"
  7. All the fun in this thread actually made me dig out the first volume of the Tiger Mask set I got from IVP something like two years ago. After watching the first match the only positive I can take away from it is that Sayama's mask was much shittier than their work.
  8. I totally agree, which was why I mentioned matches like the '81 Tag League with the Funks against Brody/Snuka and the two classics from '76. I was just saying that I could see the point that Dave and RE were trying to make. I don't agree with it at all, how exactly one is supposed to put themselves 'in the '80's' is beyond me.
  9. I'm not saying that I agree with them, but I do see the point that Dave and RE are trying to make here. Sayama vs. DK was a great 1982 match, but not so much for us 2011 nitpicky bastards. The same way that Daniel Bryan is putting on great matches in 2011, but the jdw's of 2041 (and I don't mean that in a mean way, John) may think he sucks.
  10. This. There's a reason that Baba/Destroyer from '69, Jumbo/Terry from '76, Baba/Robinson from '76, The Funks vs. Brody/Snuka from December '81, and countless others are still considered great matches more than 20-30 years later. While Sayama's matches, as admittedly revolutionary are they were, generally (RE's exception noted) aren't.
  11. I remember a few years ago, after one of Rey's knee surgeries, Dave reported that Rey's doctor told hm that he didn't want him even jumping onto the curb from the road.
  12. The 1/24 tag draw bored me to tears. Regarding AJW, I'd also suggest Toyota/Aja from 3/26 with Toyota's title win and their WWWA rematch from June (not solid on the exact date) where Aja gets it back.
  13. I could see including the last few minutes of this to show that the teams went to a draw, but this doesn't need to be shown in full. I'd also suggest Kawada/Akiyama 3/21, Kobashi/Misawa 3/26, and Kawada/Misawa 4/6
  14. I haven't seen it in years, so I dunno if the whole match is any good, but I'll also add the Bret/Martel IC Title match from PTW. Or at least just the finish with Bret in the crab and Shawn attacking him to get Martel dq'd, which led to their ridiculous Summerslam match.
  15. I second this, but for the reason being that it was one of the very few times that the WWF Champion (cleanly or not) actually got pinned on TV.
  16. Tommy Dreamer invades USWA from 6/14/97 (according to Youtube). A nice companion to the Lawler invasion of ECW (which I'm sure will be on the set already), Dreamer hits everyone who moves and trashes the studio. While the USWA fans are going crazy and chanting ECW. A great of example of how popular ECW was at this time.
  17. Anything involving the Rockers dissension that led to their breakup in '92. Hogan/Undertaker from Survivor Series, one of Hogan's few WWF jobs. If not the whole match, just the aftermath of the jailhouse match at Summerslam with the Mountie in the NYC jail.
  18. Loss, do you anticipate a lot of Shawn on this set? Offhand, I'm thinking of the barbershop angle that ended the Rockers, the first ladder match with Bret, the IC Title win over Davey Boy, Survivor Series with Bret, and Marty's return at the end of the year where Sherri got clocked with the mirror.
  19. From AJW: Hokuto and Kandori vs. Kong and Nakano 3/27. A tag match between four of the best, with Hokuto and Kandori having to play nice. One of my all time favorite matches.
  20. I seem to recall reading, somewhere, that Starrcade was going to be Magnum beating Nikita in an I Quit match.
  21. Last weekend, Ted DiBiase made an indy appearance and I took the opportunity to ask him his opinions regarding Jumbo being the GOAT. He said that he'd rate Jumbo as one of the greatest Japanese wrestlers of all time, but that he felt that Terry was the best of all time. He also mentioned that he'd trained in Amarillo with Jumbo.
  22. Billy Robinson is definitely up there.
  23. Russo says that "a lot" of the Goldust character was his creation. Like was said before, I could see him as a quick placeholder champion, maybe in Sid's role at Survivor Series.
  24. In the sense of the absurdly tough, yet past his prime, Valentine going over the pretty boy Bagwell.
  25. How has nobody mentioned Green Lantern Fan yet?
