  1. Bob Brown, Buzz Tyler, Rufus R. Jones, & Manny Fernandez is your top 4
  2. This was hard to pick just 10 and this is no particular order. Ric Flair Jerry Lawler Terry Funk Terry Gordy Ricky Steamboat Nick Bockwinkel Stan Hansen Dick Murdoch Barry Windham Randy Savage
  3. Thing about the Steiners that made them great in my eyes were that they took the Road Warriors aura and added to it with their credibility as amateurs. They were the baddest team around and you believed that. Also regarding their stiffness I knew some jobbers from that era and they would say they would rather face the Steiners than the Roadies because at least the Steiners didn't potato them as hard as the Roadies did.
  4. Token Daniel Bryan joke
  5. Flair for the Gold would've worked if he was a heel
  6. Memphis' crowds went down for some reason in the mid 80's while Lawler was still on top so I'm curious at why that happened. One theory I had is once Jimmy Hart left the territory was never the same as he was the perfect protagonist with Lawler. There were successful periods in Memphis after that for sure but it was never as consistent as it was before Hart left.
  7. One of the main reasons Terry retired in 1983 was he had acting gigs lined up especially for a TV show named Wildside which aired in 1985. Funk also did Over the Top, Road House, and other flicks in the late 80's. Terry never really stayed at home as he was busy either in All-Japan, WWF, WWC, and making appearances in JCP & CWF.
  8. This is phenomenal
  9. Monsoon/Polo were on Coliseum videos...... I loved the Lance/Freebirds team on WCW Pro in 1990.
  10. Slater was and is a legend in the state of Georgia and his best work maybe ever is stuff that will never be seen and that was his work in GCW from about 76-78. I've always heard that he was at his peak then as a worker and character. He wasn't doing the Terry clone stuff and once he turned back babyface helping II he was like Stan Hansen in that they were babyfaces in Georgia forever except Hansen's run teaming with Ole. Slater would come in every year as a mystery partner or mystery opponent and would pop the Omni.
  11. IRS was easily his best run personality wise. As a worker it was when he first turned heel with the Varsity Club although he was still bland as hell. I did dig the whole Captain Mike gimmick in 1990 with Norman as a guilty pleasure. Mike controlling Norman & Abby was hilarious.
  12. This is a great photo.
  13. Don't forget LOD
  14. DiBiase wasn't needed for great matches in WWF it was his gimmick that was important and as long as he was shining in promos and skits then the other stuff was extra. DiBiase was pretty nondescript in the ring if you think about it, sure he had his moments such as the Savage and Jake feuds but the other stuff was all gimmick up until Money Inc. then he kinda got his groove back working tags with IRS.
  15. Dave also needs to understand it's time to split his MMA Observer off of the Wrestling Observer. Splitting them off gives him a chance to not have to worry about getting it all done together and doing one at a time.
  16. Well if that's the case then Mascara Ano Dos Mil should've been a first ballot HOFer
  17. It is odd yes considering he is one of the most high profile refs of all-time
  18. Yep it finally happened.....ESPN has started WWE power rankings http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/fandom/po...-power-rankings
  19. Dusty Rhodes/Ole Anderson is your winner. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCIgLQGruvs
  20. Red River Jack needs a ranking
  21. Disagree. We've talked about that here before, and fairly recently. TV for the WWE is by itself a massive revenue stream. Not just from the large rights fees, but also in driving house show attendance for Raw and SmackDown (which are higher than average non-TV house shows), and also merch (live at Raw and SmackDown), etc. The WWE generates more revenue from TV than from PPV now. The notion of going back to more squashes on Raw and SD is problematic because it's not a lock to hold up the ratings, which in turn drive the rights fees. John I didn't say do all squashes just more than now which is zero but if you look at WWE they already do a lot of matches less than 5 minutes anyway so they are basically squashes. Ryback got over by squashing dudes so there is no way they shouldn't do that with all their new guys or monsters. What really needs to change is the amount of repetition in matches such as tonight we just had Cena/Dolph, Eve/Kaitlyn, and Team Hell No/Rhodes Scholars and it seems like they have wrestled each other in some type of pairing for the last month and they are doing Dolph/Sheaums on Main Event on Wednesday which they have been programmed to death. You go back and watch how Mid-South did TV in 1985 they had matches with their top guys every week but it was guys who weren't directly tied with each other. The roster is big enough where Cena only needs to work Dolph on PPV and house shows not every RAW, SD, or Main Event in some form or fashion....he could work guys like Barrett, Tensai, or 3MB where Dolph could work guys like Kofi, Santino, or Bryan/Kane. Repetition repetition repetition
  22. What about Masked Superstar?
  23. And that's the problem with TV these days is they don't build for the important shows which are PPV's now not house shows. Promotions should have more squashes while having some matches with top guys but do matches with guys not tied to each other so you don't get overkill every week like having the same two guys wrestle each other 6 times on TV/PPV in a month which is what happens now pretty much.
  24. Nope, Dundee came in immediately at the Memphis trade.
