Funny how Jerry Jarrett's reputation is hurt by his payoffs, but Paul Heyman's isn't.

Yeah, I missed the last PPV due to some internet issues, and when I finally saw it the next day, it was pretty bad. I mainly got the network for the live streaming PPV's, and I've been pretty disappointed lately. I am looking forward to Cena-Lesnar though. American football season is starting soon and I might get NFL Sunday Ticket. I'm a much bigger wrestling fan than a football fan, but if the PPV product doesn't improve later this year, I'm just not going subscribe again until WrestleMania 31.

As for the first part of the sentence, I know Meltzer has said that in the past, that McMahon was ready to give up RAW for WCW in 2001. A few months back, Meltzer discussed on WOR that WWE had internal plans and schedules about the process of that. Second sentence, I don't know or remember what Meltzer said.

I saw Perro Aguayo Sr. work once and he had an incredible presence live. He was already pretty old, but he has so much charisma, and the audience just loved him so much.
-
Oh yeah that was against Rey Jr, right?
-
Another example was a match in 1989 in Arena Mexico where El Hijo Del Santo was getting booed pretty loud that even the broadcast team had to acknowledge.

How much of the actual training at the The Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy was done by Rudy Boy Gonzalez?
-
They have done the fake "X" sign for angles before. Both on TV (WrestleMania 22 is a famous example in the MITB match), and even at house shows (one I attended had the referee doing one where a heel I can't remember faked an injury to jump the face).
-
Out of curiosity, are the close captions something WWE does in-house or something that they have contracted someone to do for their network?
-
If it's general public, the answer is probably LeBron James.

Re: TV draws. There was a period on Smackdown where a huge amount of viewers would tune in just to see Eddy Guerrero, and immediately tune out after his segments were done. Sometimes, people just care about one guy.

How good of a draw was Lesnar really in 2002-2004?

That's the dude that got catfished for months by someone pretending to be Tammy Sytch, right? I still remember the revelation on 411mania (I think) like it was yesterday. Must have been ten years ago. 411mania... that was the thing. I'm trying to recall if the morphed out of another site as well. There really were a ton of them... Rantsylvania? I know Keith (and possibly Hyatte) were there, before he (they) went to 411mania. I think Rantsylvania, or the predecessor to that site (can't remember what it was called) was where I first saw Michinoku Pro. Someone uploaded a low quality video file of the famous 10 man tag from October 10th, 1996. Was blown away (while watching it on a tiny video player at my local public library).

Probably Batista and Rey Jr. I haven't gone back to check, but I sometimes think we underrate Batista's drawing prowess. Him and Rey Jr. both seemed like strong picks if Cena never existed. WrestleMania 21 drew a huge PPV number thanks to the Batista turns on HHH storyline. Rey Jr. also was a huge merchandise seller and a strong draw for years.

Re: Making people look bad in the ring, I haven't seen the match in ten years, but I remember people on DVDVR thinking that HHH sandbagged Eddy Guerrero in the 2004 RAW draft episode.

Combat Sports Comments that don't warrant a thread
Eduardo replied to Eduardo's topic in Pro Wrestling Mostly
Dave Meltzer was pretty funny on his Twitter tonight. Also, the Weidman-Machida fight was great. Best MMA middleweight fight since Misaki-Santiago II. -
Some things to start off this thread. Anyone see Karyn Bryant's "performance" today? Also, Andrei Arlovski, who just had an awful fight with Brendan Schaub, is main eventing a UFC card in 2014. The MMA heavyweight division is really sad. I guess like the Marquardt-Te Huna main event, this is a reminder that they are really stretching themselves thin. Seriously, Arlovski is main eventing a UFC event in 2014, yikes.

Who was involved in the most great angles?
Eduardo replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Pro Wrestling
Some more for goc to add to. --Lawer-Hart-Doink at SummerSlam 1993. --All of Lawler-Snowman. --The Lawler-Dundee TV episode that was all a build up to the 1983 LLT match. --Lawler invades ECW. --Lawler-Heyman debate. --Some of the USWA-McMahon feud stuff, like McMahon playing a heel in front of a WWF audience, while interviewing Lawler. -
Listening to last nights, WOR, Meltzer had a funny line when the word IWC was brought up: "When people use the words IWC or smark, immediately [my reaction is] like, 'Okay, you're a dumb shit, I'm not reading anything you write.'"
-
I liked the opening tag match and the MITB match, but that Big E-Rusev match is the highlight of the night for me so far. Awesome, brutal match. Loved Big E.'s selling of the knee, the spear to the outside was amazing. Incredible sprint.

If we're mentioning that, we might as well also mention the WWA title from out of LA in the 50s and 60s. This was held by, among others, Eduard Carpentier, Fred Blassie, Rikidozan, Bobo Brazil, The Destroyer, Iron Mike DiBiase, and that man again Lou Thesz. Dylan mentioned this title earlier, which I also agree should be considered.
-
Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, I don't think, but what about the IWA World Heavyweight Title from Australia?
-
That sounded bad. Maybe someone sent that in for Meltzer, and he just copied and pasted it?
