  1. Some of this reaction towards this Stampede footage and Bret Hart is hilarious to me. So y'all really think a person, who owns something, should just let a major corporation use what he owns without his permission, compensation, or without working something out with him first? Yikes.
  2. I've seen several local establishments just turn on the WWE Network during some of the major PPV's. They usually advertised on social media the week of and I wondered if the could get in any trouble doing so.
  3. There's also OVW. I'm surprised there hasn't been somewhat of a push for that considering that Cena, Batista, Brock and Orton were there in the early 00s. Sooner and later they will probably buy Memphis and WWC. I'm not sure what would they do with the latter, though. In 2014, a little after the launch of the network, Meltzer was claiming that WWE was really interested in (or even in the process of attempting to) acquiring the WWC library. Haven't heard anything since, but it was also when Colon was about to be inducted into the WWE HOF.
  4. Who is a good comparison for Kawhi Leonard? His development over the years has been pretty amazing to watch. Going from a player with solid defensive potential and limited offense to the Spurs go-to guy for offense, and the most consistent three-point shooter they have this season (far more reliable than Danny Green or Patty Mills), while still being a force on the defense. Dude is a highlight reel on both ends of the court. Duncan being in awe after Leonard hit 7 three-pointers tonight: https://vine.co/v/iWPWn3Kq2Jv He finished tonight with 27 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, in 33 minutes.
  5. Bruce is involved in a major jury trial this week, he's a well known attorney here in South Texas. So that is taking up a lot of his time this week. Hope he's doing good.
  6. They added 3 more SMW episodes, 1 more WCCW episode, and 1 more NWA episode this morning.
  7. Awesome, excited about this.
  8. Yeah that's what I meant, I didn't phrase it correctly.Thanks. I was wondering how it would work out, since I remember "Night of Legends" having a commercial release (with Dave Meltzer and Jim Cornette commentary, along with the original commentary for the event), and if they owned the other major shows too. I never saw the major shows, except "Night of Legends", but did they have commentary on them or not? I assume they did but just a question.
  9. Does WWE also have the complete SMW major shows like Bluegrass Brawl '94 or Night of Legends?
  10. I've heard the WOR podcast, but not Cheap Heat. Curious, can you give more details? Well, if you want to hear things along the lines of "anyone who's offended at this is just getting worked" and blaming the controversy on "outrage culture", I've got the podcast for you. Shoemaker's reaction to Flair being upset was something along the lines of "I don't want to hear about that", like he's intentionally shutting his ears, because he doesn't want to choose favorites between Ric Flair and WWE or something. Not quoting verbatim, because frankly, I don't want to listen to that podcast again, but I'm not just taking stuff out of context to make it look bad. Ugh. Sounds bad. Thanks for the explanation.

  12. A little off topic, I was trying to remember the details of that amusing theory Meltzer had about the effect of RAW right before the 2000 presidential election. What was the theory again that he pushed at the time?
  13. There are a lot of folks, in different social groups or work groups that I am involved in, that dislike her for different reasons. Some of the legitimate reasons some friends of mine dislike her is transphobic comments she has made, slut shaming other famous women, claiming the Sandy Hook shooting was a hoax, and other bizzare things she has said or claimed. She also gets a lot of hate for some of the other reasons written on here and also, let's be honest, there is a lot of misogyny among MMA fans and the general public. Disagree strongly with the misogyny comment here. Jon Jones gets just as much hate for his douchebaggery. See also guys like Nick Diaz. If there's one thing MMA fans do it's hate on fighters. Have you been online, at any bars, hearing the way people talk about Rousey? Also, let's not pretend like some of the Jones hate isn't racist either. Like Rousey, there are many legitimate things Jones gets hated on, and then there is some stuff said about Jones that is really fucked up. It's not difficult to see how some people apply criticisms to some fighters.

  15. Speaking of McGregor, I still can't believe UFC used his horrifying line about how if this was a different time, he would invade the favelas, enslave Brazilians and kill the ones unfit to work, for a commercial. Really fucked up. If this was a WWE angle/promo, Meltzer and Alvarez would rip it to shreds, and WWE too for using it as part of the promotion, but McGregor is the best promo guy ever, or whatever, according to Meltzer a few months ago. Really hoping Jose Aldo destroys him badly, and continues to thumb his nose at UFC, Reebok, and McGregor.
  16. Live, this was a blast to watch. I'll have more thoughts soon. Match of the night for me was the Moose match. Just awesome stuff. Castle was great live too. Just a fun show all around. This is a photo I took of Dalton Castle.
  17. Fuck I loved the Moose match. Highlight so far and like Will said, the right booking
  18. First time I noticed it was at WM12 with Michaels-Hart, but maybe/probably he was doing it before that.
  19. Silva with Sandstorm is so iconic that friends of mine bring it up Silva's entrances in PRIDE all the time.

  21. I actually think it's a mix of both those things. Meltzer has shown to be pretty ignorant about race (and other issues) in the past, and has also shown to make excuses for his friends as well. Listening to that discussion was so embarrassing and awful. Not surprised at all that Alvarez didn't interject to point out how absurd Meltzer was sounding.
  22. I'm almost convinced (and amused) that it was Undertaker's idea to use the "Brazilian Tap" as the finish here.
  23. It would 'cause a lot of online discussion too since that's story going into the ROH PPV in September, as Jay Lethal will defend both titles in separate matches at All Star Extravaganza.

    Jose Lothario

A few years ago, I was having breakfast with an older, theater director, and he told me he grew up attending Jose Lothario matches, and that Lothario was his favorite wrestler. Now I'm starting to an idea of why, thanks to all this footage. Just an awesome babyface. Great at selling, bumping, and amazing punches. Also, love that he has a variety of different punches, and they all look so good. I've been really digging the stuff on NWA Classics, with the "Mexican Death Matches" with Gino Hernandez and Hector Guerrero being stand outs. He's been so much fun to watch.
  25. Love how Hector Guerrero turns it up with some headbutts to transition to start brawling. He then immediately rams Jose Lothario's head into the post to draw blood. Lothario later returns the favor, posting Guerrero as well to bust him wide open. Love Lothario's punches, they are incredible. Guerrero's selling of them are great too. Lothario has such a great left. The Chavo Guerrero promo afterwards was pretty wild and frames this feud with the same narrative of the epic Juan Manuel Marquez vs Juan Diaz "Fight of the Year" for 2009 (which also took place in Houston). Hector looks like he's been to war during this post-match interview. Awesome presentation from beginning to end. This was so great.
