And the rumor was WWE was interested in having Jericho be with Sami and KO. Which does play into the theory I have that Sami is playing the Bloodline as the master manipulator.
-
Owens vs. Gable was awesome. That match FUCKED.
-
Jericho marking out for Athena's Sword Wings gear because she made then herself was wonderful.

" Swerve In Our Glory " is the worst Tag Team name going currently. It's as bad as those WWE ones we got for awhile that sounded like couples names shippers do.

Pretty close. And I absolutely ADORE that the story here is that Roman likes Sami. It explains why he's allowed to be part of the crew. That backstage Roman and Sami bit was great. And the finish cements it. There are so many ways to go with this. I can't fantasy book for shit, but my idea is master manipulator Sami is playing a long con and The Usos lose the tag belts to Sami and Owens. And that crowd losing their shit for Sami was amazing. When they blew the roof off during his entrance I flashed back to the Rahway Rec Center in 2004 or 2005 when I saw a few Canadian kids making their first or second American excursion at a JAPW show in front of a couple hundred fans. I got legit choked up, no shit.

That's my take. He's clearly turning heel,( he also slagged Mox and Eddie non kayfabe), and the best way for Punk to do that kind of promo is to let him fire live rounds. So yeah, it's not totally a work, but it isn't totally a shoot. What it is, is something people are buzzing about. Which is the point. All of this to me feels like the AEW recreation of The Summer Of Punk that had to be postponed to be the Late Summer/ Early Autumn Of Punk that I've been expecting for awhile.

Sons beating up their Dad is such a weird only in Wrestling angle, but I love it. They couldn't get rid of " Scissor Me, Daddy Ass!" The Acclaimed kind of need that line.
-
I know they look like Yankees pants, which is a heel move, but they're supposed to be part of the pinstripe suit he wears as part of his DC's Black Mask gimmick.
-
I'm just starting watching the show. If I was sitting behind that asshole with the giant sign, I'd have knocked it down. Jesus Christ.

It's awesome that AEW can sit as long as they're doing in the MJF thing before we finally see if it's all a work. Its also helps that no one cares. I haven't missed him. As great as he is, he has the worst entrance jacket/ robe. It looks like shit and he's supposed to be rich. But whatever happens with him, it'll be big for at least a bit.

Exactly. I love wrestling.

I know lots of folks have been down on Jericho lately, but I honestly have been enjoying the JAS. And that match with Mox was dope. And I don't mind JR on the call as long as Taz is with him. Taz's reactions to some of JR's weirder calls are hilarious.

When Bryan was yelling at Garcia about whether or not he was a wrestler or a sports entertainer I wanted Garcia to say, " Actually, both are the same thing. This whole idea that one is not the same as the other is just bullshit to make nerds feel good. Wrestling is wrestling. Now, I will go into my dissertation about McMahon, New Jersey, Christine Todd Whitman, and the undeniable fact that The Harlem Globetrotters are the true innovators of what Sports Entertainment could be." And then Bryan punches him.

Yeah, the audience wants Starks' hot babyface turn to be cemented by him running away from QT Marshal? So far this show has been an entertaining fucking mess . I know Punk shows up and that's dope, but Christ...there's been some low rent Indy/ WCW early 90'd level shit. Which I absolutely adore, don't get me wrong.

If white shirt Buck is the best promo of the two, then I guess he's fine? That segment with Page and Dark Order could have been insane. It came off as bad Indy backstage shit from a 2005 ROH DVD.
-
Darby vs Brody was great, but old Sting slowly getting out of that shitty, broke-ass looking casket was fucking hilarious.

Question. What time does Dynamite start on the east coast? It doesn't start for me on YouTube TV until 9pm here in Colorado.

It's very obvious that lots of us fans here on the fringes of the niche of wrestling fandom want to see immediate changes with WWE programming. I've seen lots of posts all around the world we post in from folks who tuned into WWE over the last couple of weeks for " The first time in years ". Most of them were saying it looks like the same old shit to them. And I get that. If you actually have not watched WWE and aren't just posturing, it might not feel like there's been a difference now that Levesque is in charge. But to those of us who have been watching WWE forever , the changes are already evident and are not going to stop. But it's going to be slow. Stuff like saying "wrestling " is clear and obvious change. It's easy and meant to send a message. The booking, pushes, stories, and characters are going to slowly evolve now and I'm super interested to see how they do this. Smackdown has been ahead of the curve for awhile.

I loved that the two job guys the Raiders killed were named Mulkey and Gibson. Cole saying " I don't think this Gibson is related to Hoot" was fantastic.

I mean, you can still be a heel while being awesome. Just put some stank on it like the MX did. Playboy Buddy Rose and Doug Summers could have eventually been a babyface team overcoming the odds, and would have only changed how they sold for the heels. All their moves would have gotten pops . AWA Fantasy Booking time: Rose and Summers could have been babyface champs against Zybysko and Saito.

OC is bulletproof right now because they're doing the OC/Best Friends rehab to make them a serious threat, while keeping the fun. The tye dye, Jane, Trent and Chuck being presented as threats in ring, it's all part of the OC push. The most important part of the push besides " Jane" is OC doing his gimmick as mind games, and the announcers have put that over every OC match. He's on the fast track .

Nice to see how relevant Christian is as evidenced by all y'all posting about him. He fucking rules.

I noticed this at SummerSlam, and again on SD , Micheal Cole sounds like a huge weight is off his shoulders and he's actually enjoying himself .

Meltzer is on Jericho's podcast today talking about the Vince stuff. It's pretty good.
