A few years back someone was selling a dvd set of every Clash for a ridiculously low price. I still always turn to it when I can't decide what to watch. I love the one at the Citadel that had Ranger Ross vs. "The Terrorist" in front of an all Army crowd going nuts. I also just re-watched Clash of the Champions 19 with the AWESOME Barry Windham and Dustin Rhodes vs. Arn Anderson and Beautiful Bobby Eaton match. I wrote this about it over at DVDVR. This is one of those matches where every guy involved, including Paul E. on the outside, does all the little things that matter. It's such an awesome match. My favorite part is where Windham and Arn are doing the headlock into a head scissors spot and when Arn kicks out of the scissors and stands up, Barry just punches him in the face and Arn falls on his ass looking totally dazed. And Windham is the FACE with a TAPED FIST, but it's ok cause his fist is only taped because of Anderson and Zybysko having broken it in the car door months earlier. If this had been in ROH or many other promotions now they would have repeated the wrestling part of the spot about 13 times with various "flashy" alterations on the basic spot and it would've ended with some stupid Indy stand there looking at each other "respect" horseshit.

Having Will in my left ear and Phil in my right ear is some Pink Floyd type production values.

Brad had the absolute BEST looking Russian Leg Sweep.

I just saw this pic and it reminded me of how the old Apter mags used to go on and on about how awesome Don Leo Jonathan was. I can't recall ever actually seeing any footage of him wrestling. Was he good?

Were they even pushing the streak as a major part of the Mania storyline at Mania 17?

Good stuff, man. Hell, if I was still living in Waretown, NJ I'd be at these shows.

No, but the interview with Animal on the Observer radio was really great.

Totally nothing to get worked up about but, WTF? She became all that, while quality thespians like this: fell to Hollywood's wayside.

I always wondered how and why they still went an hour.

I'm liking the underlying seeds of a movement about the dangers of internet message board posting and reading. It's a poison that turns youngsters against what's good and right and turning them to the wrong-headed and insidious admiration of Jerry Lawler.

This was the first Benoit match I ever saw and the first time I'd ever even heard of him. It's the match that made me a fan of the guy.

So I'm rewatching Clash of the Champions 19 and loving it. It's the "NWA Tag Tournament". I just rewatched Pillman and Liger vs. Benoit and Beef Wellington, and it's a fun match. But, was Wellington always this awful? It's the only time I've ever seen him wrestle. I can't figure out if he was trying to sandbag Liger or if he just sucked. Cause man, that guy sucked. Pillman, Liger, and Benoit were all really great here and Wellington just sucked.

The build up during the show was so great.

I always felt that was because Jesse had the utmost respect for Gorilla.

He's 61 and she's 21. Not exactly the same thing. Yeah, he's better. And to get it out of the way, I'd say that a 61 year old woman dating a 21 year old guy is fine.

If that's how it is in Ireland, then that's awesome. I've worked with elders in Nursing Homes for the last 21 years and I'd love for the US society to embrace old age.

I'm intrigued here. What "Lawler movement"? I sorta get what you're talking about, as in recent years many people have seen a lot of Memphis and realized how fantastic Lawler is/was. But that's just an example of people being exposed to work by a guy who they had only known from his WWF work. (My theory re: Lawler hate being related to Bret Hart love is still relevant here )

Yeah, what exactly is "disgraceful" here? So Lawler can score young tail, good for him. She's legal. I'm 40 and my girlfriend is 21. I feel a lot of things about our relationship but "disgraceful" isn't one of them. I try to emulate The King in every way. I'm thinking about wearing a crown.

I met Vlad at a ROH show of all places, nice guy. Was Roddy Hogan the guy who dressed up like Hogan at WWF shows, and then showed up in WCW for awhile? Oh, and redhead with a Camera? Was that the chick who was ROH's photographer? Mary something?

I know the ECW guys will be brought up, and the obvious "fans getting themselves over" complaint that I think is a little silly and paints a wide brush over fans in general. Sure, your indy "aren't we smart" chants are annoying, but stuff like "Where's My Pizza?" at the FBI was funny. As stated above, I always got a kick out of the Horsemen guys and the Cornette guys. I also LOVED "The Black Nature Boy", (not Scoot Andrews), who was at all the Philly Civic Center shows. He was this brother who wore a robe and just wandered around the Civic Center strutting, doing the four fingers, and yelling "Whooooooooooooo!" at all the shows.
