  1. From the Observer: yeesh
  2. Wasn't the whole thing actually that Gino was in LA, went to a party, got a pic with Farrah and then parlayed it into a part of his gimmick?
  3. Well, that's proof that the NFL is just like wrestling, right? An aside, but I was upset that the Steelers "did the job" tonight.
  4. Again, Colt Cabana's most recent podcast. LIVE from WrestleReunion.. CurryMan here is hilarious.
  5. Here we go, oy fuckin' vey. Tell me I'm missing something and this is a spoof deal. edit: Oh, here's the whole thing Holy fucking shit.
  6. Well you know, he wasn't "Vader", he was "The Man They Call Vader" I'd guess that "some people" are "they".
  7. An aside, but there's another term now shared between wrestling and strippers. "Trying to herd cats" is a term we use at the club when dealing with managing a bunch of dancers on a busy night. Sorry, carry on.
  8. From the latest Classic Observer: "Lawler did a hilarious King's Court that will never air where Johnny Polo pretended to be Stu Hart and Harvey Whippleman pretended to be Helen Hart. Polo then faked having a heart attack and died but Harvey revived him with mouth-to-mouth. " This was when Lawler got indicted and pulled from all WWF programming. TELL ME someone somehow has this. It sounds fucking hilarious.
  9. The USA chants were about the fans trying to "power up" Daniels and Slaughter.
  10. Man, I remember the Steiners vs. Nasty Boys WCW Loser Leaves Town (?) match. It was the Nasty's last WCW match from that run, and the Steiners just KILL the Nasty's stiff.
  11. Oh, totally. I only saw one of them, that I can recall, and they had a spot where Hogan hit race with a big, heavy, cushioned chair at ringside that I believe broke and Race did the woozy dance with it hanging around his neck. At least I think that was the spot. I know for certain Hogan hit Race with a chair like that.
  12. I'm with Tim here. Me and my roommates watched the show, drank beer, ate pizza and Buffalo Wings and cheered, laughed, and booed and were totally engaged by the whole show. We realized Santino had never been eliminated and stood up, leaning at the TV, waiting for THE COBRA...and saying "HOLY SHIT, They just might have Santino win!", getting to pop when he hit the Cobra, and then being all "Awww..."when Santino was eliminated. And me, the "heel loving guy" in the room cheering Del Rio. What a fun night. Oh, and I expected Beth Phoenix to be the partner, and I think the crowd did as well. Kong would have ruled.
  13. My pal Joe and I still do the Barry O "O" pose at times just to make ourselves laugh.
  14. That's so fucking great.
  15. And I think we found the tiny difference here! Those matches with the jobbers weren't "big matches", they were "Big Appearences". Oh and as an aside, who WAS the jobber that Hogan squashed who was sorty dressed like Dusty? And Dusty did the same thing on either TBS or Worldwide, squashing a guy who looked like an emaciated Hogan. I remember this being mentioned in the Apter mags and I THINK the Observer at the time.
  16. Um... that seems like a fairly common and well-understood phrase. Ah, struck me funny anyway. Still, it's a really great obit on a TV Icon that barely got a mention on most of the TV news I saw.
  17. Perhaps the writers gave Vince the idea to push Rey and Vince decided to tie it into the real-life Eddie Guerrero situation. I can't remember all the details Bauer has mentioned...over and over again...but I'm pretty sure it was based on them loving Rey, his being so over, and the whole "Hispanic audience thing" for Smackdown. It totally became "Win it for Eddie", but the initial push from the writers wasn't, at least according to Bauer. Who knows? He does mention that Vince wasn't set to have Ray win at Mania right up until the show, more or less. And as far as the second reign, sure it was fast and all that. But if Vince hadn't changed his mind on Ray by that point, wouldn't he have chosen someone else to take the belt off Swagger? Even for a fill in reign?
  18. Well, as Meltzer pointed out, there was also the whole deal with them not being able to talk and being brought up too soon. And while the Uso's haven't been pushed to the moon, they haven't put them in grass skirts with no boots.
  19. I liked the Jack LaLanne obit, as I loved watching Jack on TV when I was a kid. But this Dave-ism had me laughing my ass off. I know what Dave means here, but this is pretty funny. "He was one of he most muscular men in the country during the 30s and 40s, and was never out of shape until the day he died." So, did Jack shrivel up like a dead vampire when he passed? Did he suddenly fall out of shape..then he died?
  20. And for me, a kid who didn't have cable until Fall 1986, all I had was Saturday morning TV..(which had WWF, AWA, WCCW, NWA, and Mid South) and SNME.(Hell, the best part of sleepovers at my pal Joe's house and Summer's at the beach/ my Aunt's house in KY was seeing wrestling on cable. Oh and MTV.)
  21. I remember watching this on PPV and even though I liked both guys I was with the crowd. For fuck's sake, end this. (And I rewatched the Harlem Heat match again recently and I still haven't heard any "racist" chants.)
  22. I love this match. The lack of commentary I think is a flaw, but it's still great. Granted, like I've mentioned, Taker vs. Mankind is probably my favorite WWF feud ever, with Snuka/ Piper right behind it.
  23. Remember PWI doing the gimmick where they gave DDP a job and he ended up either quitting or getting fired?
  24. I kind of remember that, as well as the Rusty Brooks match and the one against the guy who was supposed to look like Dusty. Now, were those important matches? Of course not. But it was Hogan on a Saturday Morning show, which was rare and felt like a big deal. It was similar to seeing Flair wrestle on World Wide. Sure he cut a lot of promos but he didn't wrestle often.
  25. So will GSP vs Koschek suffer or benefit from "breaking kayfabe" in the next Awards?
