Ahem.. The ProStars say otherwise.

I can see Alverez saying that and trying to defend it since he knows nothing about real sports. But Dave must have lost his mind on this one.

Oh, WWF Matches? Off the top of my head: 1. Hogan vs Sheik at MSG when Hogan wins the belt. Just for the crowd going APESHIT. 2. Slaughter/ Sheik Boot Camp Match 3. Slaughter/ Patterson Boot Camp match 4. Hogan/ Savage at Mania 5 5. Savage/ Steamboat at Mania 3 6. The Dusty/ Superstar matches from the Garden 7. Tito and Bruno vs Adonis and Savage in the cage at MSG 8. Hogan vs Valentine from the Spectrum And everyone needs to see "Dr. D At Home", the greatest wrestling vignette of all time.

That cracked me up. And this is just hilarious. Combat sports entertainment? Really? I love that either Dave or Alverez actually came up with their own term for the insane "it's all the same" deal.

Magnum TA vs. Tully Blanchard "I Quit" Cage match from Starrcade 85. The best cage match of all time. In my opinion, the best match of all time period. The utter hatred that comes off the screen as these two guys try to maim each other is just awesome. And the end is my favorite ending to a match. Tully tries to stab TA in the face with the wood shard but Magnum kicks him away, gets the shard and shoves it in Tully's bloody eye. Tully says "YES!" when asked if he quit, and TA stands over him holding a quivering Tully by the hair in one hand and the shard in the other. He looks at the shard, looks at Tully and throws him down with a look of disgust on his face. As Tully lies there shaking, TA casually tosses HIS US belt over his shoulder and leaves the cage looking like the world's biggest bad ass who got the job done (in his last chance at Tully) and fucked up this piece of shit who'd cheated him out of the belt, and fucked him over for months.

Things I learned by listening to Dave Lagana's podcasts.

Ah, so now the whole "Poopy Pants" Patterson thing during the "Stooges" feud is even funnier. -

In the crowd? As awesome as that would have been, no. As Meltzer would say, really good face promo.... "But he totally buried Trump. Now an election between the two would have no heat." "NO BUYS!" "Be still, boy." -

For all intents and purposes Lawler did invent the R n R and the Fabs and music videos in wrestling. Granted, Jarrett and others were there as well in the creative process.

Ah, just in time. I was hoping there'd be a new show from the collective soon.

Man, I just got done hanging out with some pals having a good time cause Tuesday nights are my Friday nights and I was in the mood for some good wrestling. I'm awful about not labeling anything and having dvd's all over the place, but I grabbed the first unlabeled DVD i saw and it's from the Memphis set with the Lawler/ Bockwinkel matches. Sometimes the fates are cool. Everything about this is awesome. The whole bit where Lawler was gonna get a match with Flair for the belt because he was the Southern Champ, but Bock has won the belt from him and HE'LL get the shot when Flair comes to town unless Jerry can get his belt back is just so great. Add in the matches being great and Lance showing why he's THE greatest wrestling announcer of all time, no contest...man. So fucking cool. -
How come there's never been a big promotion in California?

No, chopped liver is actually good. -
I always felt that the Flair/ Arn match wasn't "hate filled" because like a month later Flair fucked Sting over and the Horsemen reformed. As if the Flair/ Arn feud was all a setup, so they just wrestled each other instead of beating the living dogshit out of each other, like brothers do in a fight. Now why would Flair go to such elaborate measures just to fuck over Sting yet again? Here's why. Lucy's smile is the answer.

Alverez on the Zach Ryder deal: Ok, so far...right on. Then.... Ok, besides the fact that the POINT of Miz being Bryan's "pro" was to get over Bryan as a guy who was far more talented than his pro (and the name change being a copyright deal), and putting Kaval with Laycool was a big part of him showing some personality and it was good TV, I can't recall Punk "suffering, etc, etc. True enough. But here we go. Bryan Alverez, STAR MAKER? -
Flair beat Dusty for the title with the Figure Four.

I never got the whole "Andre was passing the torch to Hogan at Mania 3" deal. Hogan was already super over and a celebrity, and Andre had been kinda washed up for awhile. I get the whole "Match Of The Century" thing, as it was part of the story. But all the "shoot" stuff since then about torch passing just never made sense to me. -

Alverez proposing that the Truth heel turn may be because he failed a pot test is the dopiest thing he's theorized in a long time. Dave sounded baffled by this. And then Dave so over analyzed things he completely missed how Truth's win last week and the loss this week was totally logical. It was a real "can't see the forest for the trees" deal. edit: Hah, Dave while ranting about the "they don't build new stars/ the start to push a guy and then stop" deal said that Kofi Kingston is an example and "He was over a year ago!". I recall posting that Kofi was over and Dave vehemently pointing out to me that despite the crowds going nuts for him, Kofi wasn't over. -
Not "Dave stuff" per se, but the interview from last week that Alverez did with X-Pac was really, really good.

So, Nikolai Volkoff was in Mid-South in 1984...but wasn't he in the WWF at the same time? Was there a deal made between Watts and Vince? Or was Volkoff actually not in the WWF for a bit and went back in the same year he worked in Mid-South? I just seem to remember Volkoff on WWF TV all that year. Granted, I was 13-14 at the time and my memory is really faded. Did he come in to the WWF from Watts at the same time as JYD, who also was in Mid-South and the WWF in 1984? Neidhart was in both promotions in 1984 as well, now that I think of it. -
So is the site safe yet?

Exactly. HHH in a suit coming out to his music is gonna be the new "Mr. McMahon "No Chance In Hell"" entrance.

Pretty sure he left to be a legit reporter, he worked for WWOR in New Jersey for a while and now his Fox Sports gig. It looked like they were grooming him to be the new Mean Gene too. I remember seeing him on WOR. It was right as they became an original UPN station. I couldn't take him seriously at all. Now that I think of it, I remember when people used to say that Mooney was Vince's son. Pettingill was so fucking awful. I had been a Stern fan for years and years and to see that Morning Zoo douche on something I loved, (wrestling), was just so annoying. -

The continuing adventures and travails of these men and women competing in the ring for championships and personal grudges. And like most Soaps, it never ends. What do they call this competition? Oh, wrestling of course. I was never going for the whole "it ain't wrestling" thing. Just that wrestling is very much like soap operas and pretend it isn't is just denial of what the stuff is. And this was written with a grin.
