According to Jim Ross they are taping 12 one hour shows followed by a final two hour special. No network is official yet. WIll they be doing seasons? I like the one hour format though.

My quest to check out everybody I haven't seen enough starts at the last thread posted upon. I'm going to try to do this for everyone that has a shot (that I am not rally familiar with), so here we are. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h34CW0Gho28 vs El Samurai (Super J Cup 1995) I haven't seen the Super J Cup in many years now and I have no recollection of this match. Caras is filled with cool looking submissions and roll ups and one awesome tope. A pretty solid early round tournament match and Caras was good and old, but did not look very special. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kW8t3U0vYcU vs Great Sasuke (M-Pro) After ten minutes of fun mat work this match goes to the floor and gets awesome. Sasuke is a freak with the bumps he takes on the floor and in the ring. Slams to the floor, insane power bombs where his head bounces. There was this neat spot where Caras was holding onto Sasuke's leg to try to get them both counted out. Sasuke took another huge power bomb where his head bounces. So, after all of this viciousness Caras does a monkey flip into a boston crab into a rocking horse into a single leg crab. A very bizarre choice. After a few questionable choices Caras unleashes a VICIOUS TOPE! Sasuke fights back with an Asai Moonsault and a freaking space flying tiger drop which splatted both on the high school gym floor. Sasuke is able to roll in for the countout. A very good match, but more a case for Sasuke than Casas. I'd go like *** 1/2 to *** 3/4 for the last stretch. w/ Blue Blazer & Gran Hamada vs Los Brazos The video is only ten minutes long, so I feel like we'll be missing something here. It's funny that Owen looks like a huge monster against the Brazos. After a fun Owen start we have Super Porky vs Dos Caras. If this isn't good I am done with Caras. It was alright. A fun comedy stuff down the stretch, but nothing special. Hamada, Owen and Porky out worked Caras here. I've liked Caras in the past and this small sampling keeps him there. Unless somebody makes a case for him I am unsold.

What about Alberto as the latino star? Kind of like building around Shane Douglas in ECW? If not him, there isn't a lot of options. Unless you can get Cavenario and LA Park to come in and have a blood feud on top for the first six months and then build around Cavenario. If I was a new promotion that was trying to become a big deal I would be as diverse as possible. Women's wrestlers, minis, Mexican, British, Canadian, Japanese, Black, White, fat, ripped, etc...

I know and love post 2000 Park! One of my all-time favourites. I need some recommendations for AAA and WCW stuff to watch.
-
I just finished the Colon-Hansen feud and damn that was satisfying. One of the best feuds I have ever seen! I think it's time to sit down and watch every Hansen match available.
-
Too many great matches in AJPW! Damn narrowing to 74 is real hard with this company.

No. Every new company deserves a chance. I love new companies, there is so many opportunities to do things right. It's 2015, they want to be global, the internet is there. Netflix is around, youtube, twitter, instagram all of that new technology. The WWE is really shitty at utilizing everything. Hopefully GFW is smart enough to take advantage of this stuff.

Note 2: Bolded matches were added last update on October 6, 2015.

Parv had this idea on the last AJ Excite Series and I thought it was pretty neat. So, here is a thread to list your 5 and 4 3/4 star matches. You can come back and edit as you discover more. It will be neat to see what people have as bench marks and what trends come out of this.

None are nominated. Are they worthy for a top 100 GWE spot? I can't see a case for any of them. You're probably right. I just didn't want to be presumptuous. Feel free to nominate them, if you want to watch the footage.

David isn't nominated. James Storm is a guy from TNA. Parv I think you need to watch more Mark Henry.
-
Completely. Then add in the Canadians (listen to the last Wrestling Culture). Hopefully some more diversify as well. I would love this promotion to represent the whole world, not just white America. It seems to be off to a decent start.
-
At this point in time I would go with this ranking: 1. Stan Hansen 2. Terry Funk 3. Dustin Rhodes 4. Barry Windham 5. Steve Austin 6. Tully Blanchard 7. Tito Santana 8. Ted DiBiase 9. Mark Henry 10. Dick Murdoch 11. Kerry Von Erich 12. Dutch Mantell 13. Dory Funk jr. 14. Dusty Rhodes 15. Kevin Von Erich 16. James Storm 17. Bob Orton Jr. 18. Bruiser Brody Obviously things are subject to change. I really need to watch some Dory, for example. However Hansen vs Funk is a struggle. They might be my 1-2. I will watch a lot more of them, it's a hard call.
-
TV tapings? Did they get TV? I love they that are finally going ahead with this and it could be awesome to have another promotion out there. We will see if the booking is actually decent though and how the presentation is. It's near that they are going the WCW vibe with just talent from everywhere, at least I hope that is what they are going for.

He worse a cowboy hat, poncho and had a cow whip!

I just watched the first two matches of the Colon-Hansen series and now I am eager to finish those off when I get home from work. The first time are just awesome bloody brawls. I've been going through Hansen in the 90's for the AJ Excite Series podcast and damn he is great there too. Every time I see Hansen wrestle I love it, even if the match isn't great. He just brings something special every time. I'm not ready to proclaim him GWE, but he's very much in contention.

PWSS 50 - Mr. Fuji the Manager w/ Kelly & Parv

Thanks for enjoying. I think you are onto something. What a great way to cover for no shows on injuries. Heenan was great at that too. Jimmy Hart couldn't do that, but he helped with music. Slick was gone first, so maybe there is some merit to this. -
We are a year out at this point, so I thought it was time to start looking at some categories and ranking those. I thought we'd start with the Texans. We have some prominent Texans here (Pete & Will at the least). I've always been a fan of the cowboy gimmick. From first seeing Ron Bass to being into Terry Funk, Stan Hansen, etc.. At this point, how do you rank them? Note: I included all the West Texas State guys and anyone who felt like a Texas guy (Dutch Mantell?) and a few Texans were left off because they didn't seem to fit (ie Eddie Guerrero). Nominees at this point: Barry Windham Bob Orton Jr. Bruiser Brody Dick Murdoch Dory Funk jr. Dustin Rhodes Dusty Rhodes Dutch Mantell James Storm Kerry Von Erich Kevin Von Erich Mark Henry Stan Hansen Steve Austin Ted DiBiase Terry Funk Tito Santana Tully Blanchard I may had missed some, but this is a great list. It could contain the battle of number one (Hansen vs Funk). What do you have and what are you thinking?

Ok, I will try the Meltzer show and if he can't make that good then I don't know what to say. -
Flair's podcast (WOOOOONation)
Grimmas replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I would rather listen to Konnan or Taz and I don't listen to those shows. I've heard Flair do podcast, sit down interviews, pre-show spots, legends of wrestling and he has been horrible in all those settings. -
This is the shit I don't understand. If a show gets real good it takes time for the ratings to grow. It's not a situation where one week is good and that week the ratings will be huge it's more gradual. If Vince had the same line of thinking that he has now in 97, the WWE would had been out of business.
