What bugged me for years is that they wouldnt give him a run with a World title and then watched talkwrestling on the net and they asked the same thing and the guys opinion said apparently Vince doesnt see Christian as a Main Eventer. WTF?? I love Christian and I think, as a babyface, he was one of the best in ring wrestlers in the late 2000's. However, he wasn't a main act guy. Maybe, that short run before he left you could had tried, but you had Cena. Christian is a great guy to have on your roster and could had been in the Arn Anderson, sometimes main event, but is the upper of the middle of the card guy.
  3. A real fun read. I love your enthusiasm for the Dorada-Psicosis match. Dorada is so Rey Jr. in 96 and nobody talks about him. It's really sad that the WWE is not building a minis division around him being the center piece.
  4. I don't know what "so hot" means. They just hit a 14 year high in attendance, and the complaint is that it only grew 1000 tickets. In August, they drew the fourth biggest house in the world, a house that would have qualified as the biggest house WWE drew all year with the exception of WrestleMania, and there are people (you among them) who considered that a failure. I don't think anybody is comparing this run to the glory days of Japan or to the Attitude Era...except for the people who are constantly holding it to those standards as the comparison point and downplaying how well they're doing. They are "hot" when you look at where they were four years ago. To deny that seems strange. The fact that the in ring has been so widely praised contributes to this, too. On a much, much smaller scale, a promotion like PWS would be getting incredible amounts of hype if the shows weren't terrible. They're arguably the most successful indie in the U.S., and get very little credit for it because the shows stink. Hot shows help perception. So hot is when you make an argument that a weird booking decision (like Tanahashi beating Styles for the title) is justified because they may sell out the Tokyo Dome. Look, NJPW is doing better. It's a solid #2 promotion in the world. It's not a promotion that is so hot that their top star is a slam dunk hall of famer. I know you like to bring up the August house as proof of their awesomeness, but they still only filled half of the building. No matter how you want to spin it (18k is a lot of people), it is still only half the building filled. If WrestleMania 30 drew 38k, that would be a big house. However, it would be a failure because they only filled half the building and they would be mocked for it.
  5. I understand it wasn't a sell out. What I don't get is, if NJPW is so hot, why did they only sell a 1000 more tickets than last year?

If Bryan wrestles before the Rumble match, they are fools.
  7. I still don't know how Josh Alexander is not signed to NXT or ROH in a major role.
  8. Signed for Smash in Toronto for February is two awesome matches. Tyson Dux vs Drew Gulak and Biff Busick vs Josh Alexander. Could be two legit MOTYC.
  9. You are right, sorry. It's the vocal minority.
  10. What is the theory on why, it seems, New Japan fans are so defensive?
  11. http://placetobenation.com/pro-wrestling-super-show-ecw-wrestlepalooza-98/ Host: Steven Graham Guests: Marc Clair & Glenn Butler On this week’s episode we go into the extreme vault to look at ECW Wrestlepalooza ’98. As we continue down the ECW ppv path, we stop on this panned show. Is it as bad as people say? Let’s find out.
  12. CAVENARIO!!! I also love that the are re-matching two matches from the Anniversary Show.
  13. You didn't say much, nor where you that hard on him. However, you thought the squash was nothing while everyone else thought it was excellent. i.e. not in love with Muraco enough!
  14. I really enjoyed this and Kelly & Johnny were right on about Muraco being awesome. Pete was more fair, while Parv was crazy, but what can you do?

That seems about right and is complete and utter bullshit. No other move would freshen up the product then removing the on air authority figure. Put someone in the Jack Tunney role who shows up no more than 5 times a year and it would look like a brand new show.
  16. It's hard for me to be serious because as we all know I hate New Japan I got accused of hating NJPW as well on twitter, even though I proclaimed Naka-Ibushi MOTY already.
  17. But why? Why does wrestling get treated different? That is the part I don't get.
  18. I don't think of movies and music the same . And my general point is, if you can draw money, you're good at being a Pro Wrestler. And there's a lot of factors to drawing money, of course. But if you can get people to pay to watch you then you're a good Professional Wrestler. However, nobody would ever say that if you can make money in music or movies that you are good musician or actor. The fifth biggest movie last year was Transformers is it a good movie? Is Michael Bay a good director?
  19. Nobody is saying that you shouldn't put draws in the main event. The only thing people are saying is that to be good at pro-wrestling does not mean you have to be a draw. Did Daniel Bryan become a better pro-wrestler over the last year or two than he was 3-4 years ago? Maybe, but it would have nothing to do with him becoming a draw.
  20. One Direction and Fast & Furious are clearly better at certain aspects of the music & movie business than other, more critically acclaimed acts. Doesn't mean they're good or bad, but they are succeeding on a pretty important level. Without that, work that doesn't appeal far and wide won't have any platform because the business will dry up. You need a mix, and won't always find both in the same offering. If someone who judges art (movies/films/music, etc..) makes a year end top 10 list, the amount of money the art project made is irrelevant.
  21. I really hate Johnny Sorrow's argument that someone is good if they make money. Is One Direction a great band? Is any movie that makes big box office necessarily better than a movie that doesn't? etc...
  22. I don't go to DVDR, do we have a deadline? If it is 2-3 weeks from now I can get it done and will start watching, if it is earlier I am just not going to bother.
  23. I have been meaning for months to edit those commercials, for my show at least, to keep it relevant. Sports and a podcast making fun of all other podcasts are not cool.

Replace Kane with Sheamus and that is a spoiler for my WWE fantasy booking going on in the Armchair Booking section for Mania.

Ziggler, Ryback, and Rowan looked like impotent morons not immediately beating the living shit out of Trips. They were "fired" so what did they have to lose? Just awful. Exactly! Triple H can do his dance only to be surrounded by those three fired guys and get a oh shit look on his face as they destroy him. Makes the entire thing way better. Instead we get Sting forcing their return somehow.
