Baby face Shawn is the WORST! It's too bad Bret & Vader never had a long singles match, because it could had been awesome. I do appreciate that Sid took the camera man to the back, thus giving a reason for one to be back there. So much better than the current WWE cameras are everywhere style.

"When I was born, I was born the man" is such a cool and awesome line. I loved Sid's promo, but then HBK comes out and this shit falls apart.

[1997-01-05-LLPW-Live Battle] Megumi Kudo vs Shinobu Kandori (Street Fight)
Grimmas replied to Loss's topic in January 1997
Definitely a fun brawl that I enjoyed, but I had it around 3 3/4. Some of the spots (like the hanging and crowd brawling) felt like they should feel more epic than they felt. It kind of felt like a fun match that could had been great with maybe some backstory I am missing or just something.- 16 replies

It certainly gives Punk lots of material for promos.

I was thinking that the free pre-match show before the Royal Rumble should be a 15 women Royal Rumble match with the winner getting the shot at Mania. You could easily have: Brie AJ Natayla Cameron Naomi Paige Rosa Mendes Layla Alicia Fox Emma Eva Marie Summer Rae Tamina then have the two final slots as NXT folks or people like Trish or Lita doing a one shot.
-
Sure, some people grade women's matches on a curve, but to say everyone does is insane. I put the match at *** 3/4 maybe *** 1/2. How is that not fair? That is up there with the Natalya-Charlotte and Paige-Emma as best women's match this year and it would make my top 50 WWE matches this year. Still, most WWE PPVs would have 1 or 2 matches at that level, so adding the NXT women to the main roster would surely help out the shows.

Women's wrestling, could it ever be successful in the US?

So, what are you saying? They should never try to make a women a star at the level of the top men, because they haven't in the past? -
Women's wrestling, could it ever be successful in the US?
Grimmas replied to Grimmas's topic in Pro Wrestling
What we are waiting for is a show like Night of Champions or No Way Out being headlined by a women's match. Anyone who's hoping for that is gonna be waiting a while, and understandably so. Has that ever happened in the history of pro wrestling ? Two women headlining a men's (or even inter-gender) promotion ? Tho, granted, nothing moves the needle for wrestling in the US currently. I doubt putting two women on top, for the sake of it, would change that. And the ghost of Joshi haunting this thread is scaring me.. UFC has done it. There was a Tokyo Dome show headlined by women that had men on it. In the Olympics what is the main event of figure-skating? It's not the men's campaign, that is for sure. I don't think you should put women on top for the sake of it, but I think you could strap a rocket to someone like Charlotte and make her as big as a star as Seth Rollins currently is. -
[1997-01-04-WWF-Shotgun Saturday Night] Brother Love & The Sisters of Love
Grimmas replied to Loss's topic in January 1997
I have never seen Shotgun Saturday Night before and this was insane. Mascarita Sagrada vs Mini Vader is teased, but not shown and I am sad. Hog farmers vs nuns? I love that Vince makes a jam joke and now Brother Love returns! Bob Backlund is out of his mind. Weird and crazy stuff. -
Ok, this was legit from one of the first ECW shows I saw. This was neat to see for that fact. How goofy was it to have the bWo in those outfits walking around Ne York City? The superkick on Santa is something a high school friend of mine still brings up today!

This was an awesome match. I have learned, over time, that at the very least I need a sense that the two guys in the ring are competing with each other. Well, everything in this match was a true struggle and had to be worked for. You felt every move in this one. From the awesome collar and tie up to begin things to the vicious brainbuster to end them, I was hooked on this one. **** 1/4

[1997-01-04-NJPW-Wrestling World in Tokyo Dome] Super Liger vs Koji Kanemoto
Grimmas replied to Loss's topic in January 1997
I had never seen Jericho as Super Liger. It was as bad as touted. Just a very awkward situation. Koji didn't look too great either, passed on the bit we saw and I generally love Koji.- 15 replies

NXT Takeover [R]evolution Reaction Show
Grimmas replied to soup23's topic in Publications and Podcasts
The SummerSlam when Bryan won the title and Randy Orton cashed in I completely missed that angle and went to bed thinking Bryan was the new star of the company. Woke up the next day to find out Randy Orton was the champ.- 14 replies

2015 and early 2016 monthly Wrestler Snapshot (on the Pro-Wrestling Super Show) spot will go to a Greatest Wrestler Ever nominee. Between now and when the vote is due there is 15 months available for doing Wrestler Snapshots. 1 of those is already set to be Mascarita Dorada. That leaves open 14 spots to be looked at. Who do you want the snapshot focused on? Who needs the re-evaluation? Who would you want checked out in this format? I'm turning to you guys for this. This will help me too, as I can look at some folks I may have missed.

Andre was voted a clear lock on this week's Super Show with Dave Musgrave and Tim Livingston. We do a Wrestler Snapshot on him and were blown away by how smart of a worker he was, even with severe health problems. I stated on the podcast that Andre could be top 20 or bottom 20, but he will be on my list. https://soundcloud.com/jerryvonkramer/pwss36 Sorry about sound quality.

I was thinking about this the other day and this is completely what they should do. They should have a three man booking team. Essentially three guys like Triple H does in NXT that run things. Let's say Person A, Person B & Person C. From September till April (post-SummerSlam till WrestleMania): Person A is in charge of Raw/Main Event and the PPVs. Person B is in charge of SD/Superstars and having 1 or 2 matches on the PPVs. Person C is in charge of NXT. Then from April till September (post WrestleMania till SummerSlam) Person B is in charge of Raw/Main Event and the PPVs. Person A or C is in charge of SD/Superstars and having 1 or 2 matches on the PPVs. Person A or C is in charge of NXT. None, I am not saying do a brand split, but give the Smackdown/Superstars booker like 12 exclusive wrestlers and an exclusive title that they can work with would be nice. Keeping some folks off Raw for 6 months would help. SD/Superstars would be the 12 exclusives plus anyone not used on Raw/Main Event that week. What this would do is give bookers a mini break or at least a fresh perspective. You could even use the NXT booker spot as a trial thing like Regal could get six months to see. Even better, give someone like Orton six months off to freshen up and let him try to book for 6 months in NXT or something along those lines. You don't need 20 guys writing one show, you just need one person in charge. Vince clearly isn't the guy anymore, but a system like this would at least keep things fresh.
-
So is Triple H in charge of NXT? Is he helping out booking, production, etc... If he is, he needs to take over the WWE today and Vince needs to retire. If he's not, whoever is running NXT needs to take over. This show was just so good. Not in a "look at all these awesome matches way", but in a "good stories paid off well with good wrestling way".

Women's wrestling, could it ever be successful in the US?
Grimmas replied to Grimmas's topic in Pro Wrestling
The bar is headlining special events with women's matches. All Japan Women made a lot of money with women has the lead acts. UFC has head lined pay per views which did huge business with women matches. If the WWE can't do that, I don't see how you can blame the women. Push them right, sign the right ones, give them time and focus and it's worth a shot. Sure the WWE has tried in certain ways, but not in a real let's make money and treat women as another legit draw way. -
Sorry about the old timey sound quality. It sounds like 40's radio, not sure what happened. It's not that bad, but I will make sure that doesn't happen again. Editing is hard...

http://placetobenation.com/pro-wrestling-super-show-the-wrestler-snapshot-11-andre-the-giant/ Host: Steven Graham Guests: Tim Livingston & Dave Musgrave (Wrestling Culture) On this week’s episode we focus The Wrestler Snapshot on the legendary Andre the Giant. Taking a look at matches from Japan to the WWF, we also look at some the earliest footage of Andre available, including him at 20 being a lumberjack and his role in a kung fu movie! Everybody get happy, because we are talking about Andre!

Women's wrestling, could it ever be successful in the US?
Grimmas replied to Grimmas's topic in Pro Wrestling
Completely not the point. In 5 years, of trying hard maybe? You seem fixated on today, it will take years to undo this damage. If you push these women has big stars and give them relevant spots on the card with time, why can't a women's match headline a ppv? Obviously WrestleMania should be headlined by the title match, but why can't Night of Champions be headlined by a Divas Title match? Brie-Steph was as close as we got, and even still Brie was never pushed as a big star equal to any other guy, she was still lesser. At least they are doing two women's matches on the show.
