  1. Well, Quack has basically spread the burden of promotion for Chikara into a wider base of promoters, while still maintaining creative control and keeping regular bookings for his guys. There's a lot to this that hasn't come out yet.

  3. the baseball slide uppercut and the rocking horse > everything
  4. Who was the dude that called East/West vs High Flyers? Screaming "I'm running out of wind!" at somebody off mic 20 minutes in was glorious.
  5. In that specific example, I think it has as much to do with there's more of a debate to be had over the Flair/Hart statement, where Kane fans know that it's a minority opinion and are fine with being called weird, because being a big Kane fan is a fucking weird thing.

  7. It's gonna be harder to do with guys that streaky, but I'd say the best of it was the WWF stuff in the early 00s, though I don't remember it that well.
  8. Bossman has always been one of my favorites. I'd have to sit down and do a little digging, but I liked a lot of his last WWF run. He'd gotten in damn good shape, though he was mostly used with guys that weren't great.
  9. Everyone absolutely has a prime. It may not have been great, but there will always be some time & place where a given worker was doing his best work.
  10. That could be a thing.
  11. I don't know what else they could do with Punk that wouldn't be completely dropping him down the card. Maybe something with Bryan?
  12. for shits & gigs I added up guys mentioned so far... 01. Ric Flair (21) 02. Terry Funk (19) 03. Stan Hansen (18) 04. Randy Savage (16) 05. Jerry Lawler/Eddy Guerrero (15) 06. Rey Misterio (14) 07. Ricky Steamboat (10) 08. Vader (9) 09. Buddy Rose/Nick Bockwinkel/Barry Windham (8) 10. Steve Austin (7) 11. Dick Murdoch/Shawn Michaels (6) 12. Arn Anderson/Ricky Morton (5) 13. Tully Blanchard (4) 14. Daniel Bryan/CM Punk/Terry Gordy (3) 15. Bobby Eaton/The Undertaker/Bob Backlund (2)
  13. Jerry Lawler Randy Savage Ricky Steamboat Stan Hansen Terry Funk Ric Flair Vader Arn Anderson Bob Backlund Eddy Guerrero
  14. It's related to my last statement, "There is no lagging for people that disappear; i.e. when Heath Slater wrestled Sid on RAW, Sid was still at his old high WWF value. " It also means that when Backlund returned, when Steamboat returned, when Nash returned and when Golga (Tenta) returned, they retained their old ELO rating. The reality is that it probably make sense to: I. start driving numbers down due to inactivity (i.e. Piper vs O'Haire is a lot different than Piper vs Hogan) and II. consider resetting numbers all together for new gimmicks (should Tensai get Albert's old numbers? What about Kane and Isaac Yankem?) My suggestion would be something like 20-25% drop for every year not appearing.
  15. what is this John Tenta 1998 business?
  16. Totally agree. The people's elbow from a spine buster was a weird finish and Punk looked stupid lying there with his eyes shut. The baffling thing is the feed for the Rock Bottom and spinebuster is practically the same...
  17. My problem with the finish was that the elbow wasn't set up well. It's never been a flash win kinda move, it's always been something that Rock used to put someone away after he'd been beating them. For him to put Punk away with it after getting the shit kicked out of him, then set up with just a spinebuster counter didn't feel right. Everything about the follow up on RAW was good, so I can't complain, it just felt uneven. Replace the spinebuster with a Rock Bottom, so the Elbow looks more like Rock showing Punk up after laying him out and it makes more sense. That's my opinion.
  18. I cannot stand most of his work as a baby. He's such a natural slimy heel, and it just feels so phony when he's doing the edgy cool baby routine.
  19. It usually doesn't bother me, but I don't recall seeing it happen in the middle of a spot like it was here.
  20. This was a ton of fun. Blows my mind to see Dragon in there looking so sharp that far back. What the fuck was the deal with the crowd shots? They'd seem to come out of nowhere, and they completely missed the finish in the third fall because of it.

  22. Not many guys that were better at the wrestling part of the job.
  23. Guys were signed to contracts with language stipulating they'd be paid per appearance, with the amount depending on the house, placement on card, etc. So they were still bound by a contract saying they'd only work for WWF, but weren't guaranteed an amount of money. They were willing to take that deal because it was more exposure and the possibility of more money.
  24. He started snoring, and you can hear someone in the background saying "Jerry... talk to me..."
