Yeah, I'm not necessarily advocating for turning Cena, just spitballing how I would do it. But I think clearing Cena out of the way is the obstacle they've had in creating another big star. As long as the kids/casual fans have Cena as their boy, they're not going to get hot enough about another guy to make anyone.
-
If you do it right now, you've even got the built in savior down the road. Cena goes corporate, becomes Hunter's boy. Over the next several months, you run him through all of the smark favorites... Ziggler, Ambrose, Cesaro, whoever... then come Mania, (hopefully) Bryan returns the conquering hero.
-
Yeah, you keep the fans off of him by turning him and going even more "Super Cena" than ever before. Just fucking steamroll guys, until the savior finally slays him.

I'm more used to it now that I was for a long time, but yeah, the name hurts him as much as anything does.- 7 replies

Or, if I'd read a couple more posts before responding. This sums it up nicely.

Without having read past this statement, being at wrestling shows every weekend, having gone to a PPV this year and other WWE shows within the last year, the majority of the fans at those shows are not smart to the business. I'm sure many of them know wrestling is fake, but they aren't smart to it. Most of the fans that I've overheard having conversations about shit they read online have been the biggest marks in the building. You're severely overestimating the general populous.

Everyone stop talking about Paige and watch this video. Yeah, I posted this on Facebook a week or so ago... one of the most impressive athletic displays I have ever seen. I've seen that course fucking DESTROY excellent athletes. Matt Cross, who while short, is a hell of an athlete, completely fell apart trying to scale the wall. She blew through it first attempt.

I don't think there's ever going to be any agreement on this topic between those of us who were around in the 90s and those who weren't.

It's not nearly as beneficial as actually hiring guys full time, but they do bring in some "guest trainers" for a week at a time, to help bring in other points of view to the training. Pearce has been down there a couple times now, Saturn was going down about one week out of the month for several months before he went AWOL again. I agree, they need guys to fill the Finlay/Regal/Venis/Holly road vet roles both at NXT and on the main roster. Guys like Roman Reigns should be working a Dustin Rhodes every night on the road, but the way they book now, it's near impossible. I don't even know who is around that they could slot into that kind of role anymore.

Most often it's: Bullshit, Bullshit Shine Heat Comeback Finish Throw some extra bullshits in there, maybe work double shine/heat, whatever, but that's generally how it goes down.

Hollinger is pretty awesome.

It usually takes a bit before the apps sync up with it. I'm guessing that since only 13 are showing up, they're still in the middle of making the content available.

The first 13 SNME's have been added in the vault section. Hopefully the rest are coming soon.

Kongo Kong is crazy fun, too. Glad IWA Mid South is pushing him big.

Current Favorite Wrestler To Watch: Ricochet Last Fun Match You Saw: Shockingly dug Brian Cage vs. Roderick Strong from the last PWG show. I know, I don't get it either. It was basically Cage working as Roderick, with Roderick working from underneath and having to figure out how to beat himself. Didn't go too long, Roddy played the role well, Cage was a beast. Best Friends vs. Candice/Joey, and ACH vs. Ricochet from the same show were good stuff, too. Wrestler You Want To See More Of: I'm gonna drop Danny Cannon here too, just because I want to see him booked everywhere. He's blowing up like crazy, though, so it's coming. I'll add Timothy Thatcher, Trevor Lee, Andrew Everett, Biff Busick, and Drew Gulak to that. Last Live Show Attended: Scott County Wrestling last weekend. Decent show, though some of the locals are less than stellar. Marek Brave, Matt Cage, Mallaki Matthews, Christian Rose, Shane Hollister, and Bucky Collins are all worth going for, though. Big 3XW 9th Anniversary show next weekend, with a huge Dreamwave show the next night. Lotta good rasslin. Match You Are Looking Forward To Watching Soon The Most: Jimmy Rockwell vs. Zach Thompson ladder match at 3XW next weekend. Those two are gonna kill it. Matt Cage vs. Chris Sabin at Dreamwave. Cage vs. Gargano from the last Dreamwave show is one of my matches of the year, he's been on a huge roll recently. Last Fun Interview/Promo You Saw: I haven't watched the video yet, so I'm not sure where it's at in there (you should watch the whole thing though... promo video for the 3XW show) but I watched Hype Gotti cut a hilarious promo on Mike Sydal in the parking lot at our last show. Last Interesting Thing You Read About Wrestling: This piece from Danielle Matheson about Chikara. She's a good kid, and loves her some indy rasslin. Last Worthwhile Wrestling Podcast You Heard: Austin's show is really the only one I listed to right now. The Vader interview was fun, even if Austin had to fight to get any questions in. Most Fun You've Had Watching Wrestling Lately: Dreamwave Wrestling. Every month. They're putting on some of the best shows in the country, and not getting enough hype. Rich from VOW was at the last show and enjoyed himself, so hopefully he starts pimping them. ACTUALLY... the real answer is the Metro Pro reunion show last month. My favorite locker room to be a part of, and I'm glad everyone was able to get together again. There should be some exciting news coming from them soon.

Danny Cannon is the truth, brother.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3

There is a big difference between a squat fat guy and being a lanky flabby guy. I love Hero, but he looks awful there. Most of the guys being talked about in comparison, if you took away the fat, they'd still be big dudes. It was solid mass. Chris doesn't have the body type to get away with it. -

Dickie Murdoch also had the good sense to wear higher waisted tights, so his gut wasn't sagging over the top. -

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Hollinger. replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Gene Snitsky in clown makeup and Big Zeke under the Freak hood. Shoot Steve Scott and Rob Terry to the moon. Menagerie instantly 800% more interesting. -
I don't think that's really what he's getting at. It's not a being original thing, as there are only so many options. But Bryan was lifting a pretty unique sequence directly from Briscoe. He did it well, and I don't think it's a point against Bryan, it's more about giving Briscoe credit too.

Anybody got a copy of this they'd be willing to lend a dude? I've been trying to find a copy off and on for a long time, and nothing ever comes up other than the ridiculous used copies on Amazon for $1000+.

He's been perfectly healthy for quite some time now.

There are at least a couple people on that list who were in the country on work visas.
