I did not realize he was still alive. How old was he? He looked like 70 back in 1992 SMW, however there is a 73 Knoxville clip from him where he seems to be 40 at most.

[1992-10-09-AAA-Sin Limite] Blue Panther vs Super Astro
Robert S replied to Loss's topic in October 1992
I am in the corner of not being high on this (but I am also not a big lucha fan). Super Astro was way too sloppy in the first two falls, even blowing the setup to the finish of the first fall. The third fall was nearfall-tastic and fun, though a bit repetitive.- 17 replies

Exile on Badstreet #3 = The Rebirth of the Indies
Robert S replied to KrisZ's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Did I miss it or did you, when talking about Low Ki vs. American Dragon in 2001, skip talking about the ECWA match with Steamboat as guest referee (7/21)? -
Rude might have a good shot in 2017 if Wrestlemania XXXIII really is in Minneapolis. Thinking about it Martel would have better chances in 2017 as well, as do some other Sharkey guys like Waltman. Someone who WWE probably will never even consider but who would be a great choice PR-wise is Sputnik Monroe.

As there is also a thread for Wrestlemania XXXII predictions why not a HoF prediction thread? "Main Event" I could see them introducing the nWo (just Hogan, Nash and Hall) now that all three guys are in individually as well. Undertaker is of course always an option if he decides to retire. "Celebrity Wing" The only two guys I could come up with are Mayweather and LT. Of course they might bring in someone who was a guest once at a Wrestlemania (like Pam) or guest GM. Other If they introduce another Japanese guy I would bet on Tenryu (have Terry Funk introduce him, as Tenryu trained in Amarillo), Masa Saito or maybe Tiger Mask. In the last three years they always had at least someone on the list who had a hugely negative relationship with WWE (Bruno, Warrior, Savage, Madusa and Zbyszko). There are not that many people left on that list. Owen Hart will not happen, I can safely assume, Ole Anderson does not make much sense. Who is left after that? Bischoff? Luger? I think Stan Hansen is a good bet for an "undercarder" of the ceremony. Some other guys I could see: Martel, Batista, Sting, Ivan Koloff, the Freebirds (the most likely World Class guys to go in), Bruiser Brody, maybe King Kong Bundy?

[1992-09-02-WCW-Clash of the Champions XX] Steve Austin vs Ricky Steamboat

GMC has a strange way in announcing this match as a no-DQ match: "There are no DQs allowed." (if I did not mishear completely)- 16 replies

In the post Wrestlemania Europe tour WWE is running the same night in Nuremberg, Germany and Zürich, Switzerland (the only show in Switzerland this time around). Take a guess which show Cesaro will be working.

[1992-08-29-WWF-Summerslam] Bret Hart vs Davey Boy Smith
Robert S replied to Loss's topic in August 1992
This is a Bret Hart vs Davey Boy spot that they have done before. True, but the execution here was still sloppy. Bret should have landed on the top rope, here he had problems even catching the middle rope. -
The whole build up to the supposed main event of Summerslam is weird. Centering it around two guys who are not wrestling on the show and having the go-home angle include a tag team that is only doing a dark show match seems counterintuitive. I almost seems as if they had problems promoting two face vs. face matches and wanted to have a heel in the picture of at least one match.

Or Full Metal Jacket (co-starring Enzo Amore as Gomer Pyle and Sami Zayn as Joker).

Well, it was an ST without the F.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3

From what I can gather from two different sources European wrestler Dragan Okic got life threatening injuries (severe head trauma, cerebral edema and lung injuries) on a show in Austria last Saturday. He got the injuries taking a spinning powerbomb from Joe Doering. Okic finished the match and lost consciousness backstage. He was put into artifical coma. -
Bulgarian, not Belarusian.

Wasn't Ace also known to be a great finish guy during his short WCW run?

It's not just Vince who is effected by this, Triple H was not subject to the wellness policy even when he was much more active than he is nowaday.

Savage + Rude would make two...

"I saw the ground in 3D." is up there with "It's not hot." with the weirdest sentences ever said in a pro wrestling context.

As soon as they announce that "refusing a tag is an automatic DQ" it's very obvious that we will see Lane vs. Prichard in this one.

"I am Dutch Mantell and you're not." is a great catchphrase.

The earliest I could find was the UK PPV Capital Carnage in late 98. King of the Ring 99 had no wrestlers on the main card that are not among us anymore, however Paul Bearer was managing the Undertaker and Boss Man was working on heat. -
Yeah, I realize he's season 3, but there are a couple of guys who auditioned for earlier seasons, didn't get in, tried again in later seasons and got in then. I thought maybe Morrison was one of them. He is. He's in the first/tryout episode of series 2 and somebody -- I think Dunn -- dismisses him with words to the effect of calling him a spot monkey. Which he still is, to a degree.

A really good match but I hope I never have to see Rude trying a top rope dropkick again.
