[1997-08-03-WWF-Summerslam] Mankind vs Hunter Hearst Helmsley (Cage)
Robert S replied to Loss's topic in August 1997
Foley doesn't mention it in his first book but I would assume Chyna forgot about the elbow and entered one spot too early, correct? -
[1997-08-03-NJPW] Shinya Hashimoto vs Hiroyoshi Tenzan
Robert S replied to Loss's topic in August 1997
Yeah, that was one of the weirest screw-ups I have seen in a wrestling match. In addition it looked pretty scary. I think Tenzan only hit his shoulder but he was very close to drop straight on his head (which would happen to him more than once in his career thanks to the courtesy of fucked-up moonsaults). -
Is the ring announcer doing live play-by-play via the arena microphone? It sounded that way. By the way: Cham Pain seems to be the guy who took the Pedigree straight on his head in that famous clip where some people claimed that it was Jeff Hardy taking the move.

Under different circumstances Wright might have had a long and successful career. I mean he was only 22 at this point and was, as Loss mentioned, becoming a really fine worker. He also had size and (at least for a face) his look working for him.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?

Which makes the UK just the more attractive to run in. -

UK: 63.2 Mio. people, Texas: 26.5 Mio. people; even if it's "just" England you are talking about 53 Mio. people. -
It's a bit funny that in 90ies Japanese wrestling there were quite some ex-Soviet guys doing shootstyle and looking good so considering that there is no pro wrestling tradition in the former Soviet countries at all (or at least that I know of). I guess demonstration events in Sambo are not an uncommon thing.

Reading this it makes we wonder why they never did a latino section of the nWo. The could have Konnan recruited three of the more noteworthy rudos (like Psicosis) and have them feud with Rey and a bunch of tecnicos.
-
They laid out the match really clever, especially the build up for Rodman's armdrag: they kept Rodman out out the ring for some time with the question beeing what he can do in the ring. Rodman did end up doing much more than you would expect, he took much more bumps than a celebrity is required to take.

It's a bit strange that neither WCW nor WWF threw some money at her to bring her in. She looked great, could talk much better than 95% of all the "divas" WWF/E ever had and was a willing bumper.

I always liked this angle. When was this done first? I know that the WWF did this a year earlier with Austin and Vega but I bet there were earlier occurences.

TAKA was trying to integrate the crowd a little bit at least while Sasuke worked completely in a bubble.

In the average political scandal there is no warning "I will tell everything" followed by a reaction "he will tell you horrible things but don't judge until you heard my side of the story". I mean the Undertaker (character) knew exactly what Bearer was going to say.
-
I doesn't make much sense that Taker warns people not to trust Bearer and promising that he will make everything straight afterwards when he just could have told the whole thing himself and steal Bearer's thunder from the beginning.
-
According to www.thehistoryofwwe.com this was internet-exclusive broadcast.
-
I don't remember that Candido appearance in WWF 1997 at all, I guess it was cut out of the German broadcast. Either that or I missed this episode of Raw completely.
-
I have never heard about this so let me get this straight: The police arrests Billy Joe Travis during a TV taping, Travis and Luther Biggs during the actual arrest try to make this look like an angle by acting that way, the camera crew decides to shoot the whole thing and they decide to not cut this footage from the show and instead make Brian Christopher take credit for the arrest? Only in wrestling...

First I wondered why Neidhart was out there until the Hearns thing started. Then it was obvious that he was the "fall guy".

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
Robert S replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
You won't see any Super Smash Brother's mugshot appearing on TMZ, that's for sure. EDIT: or: There might be a universe where Super Smash Brothers mugshots end up on TMZ, but this is not that universe. -
So Taker vs. Lesnar (if that's where they are going) going last?

Yoshi Tatsu actually got a nice push in ECW before it was replaced by NXT. What happened to him afterwards is another story.
