PTBN Reaction Show: NXT Takeover Brooklyn
Robert S replied to goodhelmet's topic in Publications and Podcasts
It's funny hearing people shitting (Will calling him bush-league) on Tye Dillinger considering that in 2007 people on DVDVR called him the best heel in the business. -
It seems WWE felt embarrassed that there was a Kevin Steen figure in ROH's upcoming line before they could market a Keven Owens one. It's not something a billion dollar company should be quite that upset about, but I get the impression it was an ego bruising that someone couldn't handle. Yeah, there's no way that's true. What store is carrying ROH Dolls? It's not like there's an ROH Toys section at Target next to the WWE Toys. And a WWE Doll would be Kevin Owens, not Kevin Steen. In conclusion....bullshit. Meltzer talked about this on the last podcast and he indicated that the current mentality in WWE is that they don't want to promote a guy on the main roster who was already markteted on a national level by another promotion which is the reason why Samoa Joe is only working NXT.

For those who watched the whole G-1: What would you say are the top 5 or must see or whatever matches?

[1993-03-06-SMW-TV] Tracy Smothers vs Dirty White Boy
Robert S replied to Loss's topic in March 1993
Mantell had a great line: "My contacts just fell out, I did not see anything." (about Ron Wright raising from the wheelchair and interfering into the match) - did Bobby Heenan ever use that one?- 12 replies

[1993-03-06-USWA-TV] Music Video: Randy Savage / Randy Savage and Jerry Lawler
Robert S replied to Loss's topic in March 1993
Funny that when Lawler was acknowledging that Savage beat everyone he first mentions Hogan and in the next sentence talks about Savage wrestling in WM 3 "in front of 93.000 people".- 11 replies

What about Ryuma Go? Junior heavyweight in 70ies All Japan and New Japan, part of the first UWF, being to some degree responsible for FMW (Onita returned to Go's indy promotion Pioneer Senshi after a 5 year hiatus), fighting space aliens in the 90ies and after that doing gay porn.

BRAINBUSTER SIX: THE CLUSTERF*CKENING
Robert S replied to Johnny Sorrow's topic in Publications and Podcasts
There is a big problem with doing the "name the card" game without giving other guys the option to challenge: you could easily just request the whole card. -
Misawa completely losing his cool against Sugiura (3/4/07) was great from what I can remember. The 07 Sano match I would add as must-watch as well (though that was more a Sano performance), as is the 06 Morishima match.

"Consistent" is not a term I would use for his time in NOAH. From my memory he was lazy barely doing anything 9/10 times (though when he was on he was on).

So they are basically suing them because they know they cannot afford being sued and will settle by dropping out of the other lawsuit. What a bunch of assholes. Someone should do a kickstarter and pay for a counter-sue or something like that.

The second half of the sentence (the stuff not in the signature) makes Meltzer's quote look (at least) half as bad.

Meltzer had a great story on the breaking new audioshow yesterday. After talking about Buddy Landel he spoke a couple of minutes about Cora Combs (who also passed away yesterday, at the age of 92). He spoke about watching some Crush Gals matches together with her and (one of her) comment was: "Where are the tits?"

BRAINBUSTER 5!!!!!!!!! IF YOU WEEEEL

Though Kelly took an unnecessary risk when he estimated 20 instead of 9. -
From my experience most math professors at university think that statistics is not proper science and way beneath them to spend any time on.

Did I hear right JR calling this "the tenth annual Battle Bowl"?

Really? This is a match I would rather avoid.

[1992-12-20-UWFi-Double Takada] Nobuhiko Takada vs Naoki Sano
Robert S replied to Loss's topic in December 1992
The matwork stuff here was more loose as you would normally see in shootstyle wrestling. Maybe I am getting conditioned by all the RINGS greatness for me to notice that, I don't know.- 9 replies

Explain the usage of the Dixie (the flag, not the clueless putz) in southern wrestling to non-Americans. Is it more appropriate for heels or faces? -
Call me crazy but that was one of may favorite matches on this set. Must be a genetic thing. While Schumann definitely held his one Liger is so great in this. He was a guy who really could do everything. Sometimes I wonder if his body of work would be even greater if he spent his peak years doing a different style than the NJ junior heavyweight thing. A funny thing was the crowd chanting "Zugabe!" (means asking for an encore) after high-spots, a bit like the "this is awesome" chants.

With all the free months it's not even 9.99 per month but rather 7.50 or so.
