Any links to the list from the 1990 WON YB listing Dave's Top 65 of 1990? Sold my WON's and as is typical, looking for something that used to be so readily available to me

I thought JVK had started a topic regarding this, but I could not find it in search. I've been thinking about my wrestling watching schedule as a child and I wanted to get some help to see if I had my timeline right. All I've started working on is WCW, but if anyone can add accurate WWE that would be great. If we can get a comprehensive a/k/a enough to satisfy us completists on the board maybe we can sticky the topic. So working off WCW, and starting arbitrarily at 1985 and ending in 1994 (year before Nitro) -- (feel free to expand) here is what I have. Please add/delete corrections as needed. 1985 - 1987 WorldWide - Saturday Morning Saturday Night - Saturday 6:05 Pro - ? 1988 WorldWide - Saturday Morning Saturday Night - Saturday 6:05 Pro - ? Main Event - Sunday 6:05 (Began 4/3/88) 1989 - 1994 Power Hour - Friday 6:05 (Began 6/23/89 - Ends 3/5/94) WorldWide - Saturday Morning Saturday Night - Saturday 6:05 Pro - ? Main Event - Sunday 6:05 Also WCW Sunday Night: Recap show? Did Worldwide and Pro become a recap show before 1994? Any other first run shows or clip shows for that matter during this time period? Omitting Pro Wrestling USA and Clashes here. ============================== 1985 Championship Wrestling All Star Wrestling All American Wrestling Prime Time Wrestling TNT (Tuesday Nights) 1986 Championship Wrestling (until September) All Star Wrestling (until September) Superstars (From September) Challenge (From September) All American Wrestling Prime Time Wrestling TNT (Tuesday Nights) 1987 - 1992 Superstars Wrestling Challenge Prime Time Wrestling All American Wrestling 1993-1994 Prime Time Wrestling (January '93 Only) Raw (From January '93) Monday's Mania Superstars Wrestling Challenge All American Wrestling Not Counting Main Events and SNME's

He did give it the full boat. I no longer have my collection as to double check, but it was there. When I was painstakingly looking through old WON's page by page to help Keith_H32 with his WON 5 star matches comps (from where I pulled that previous list in this post), this was listed. In Bowden's Top 100 of the 80's list from the yearbook, Dave gave the 12 woman AJW tag from 12/87 the # 1 spot on his list and called it the greatest match he had seen live up to that point. Regarding those comps, here are some matches that were added as bonuses, but not on Dave's 5 star list: Tiger Mask v. Dynamite Kid (NJPW; 8/5/82) Tiger Mask v. Dynamite Kid (NJPW; 4/21/83) Sgt. Slaughter v. The Iron Sheik (WWF - Boot Camp Match; 6/16/84) Ted Dibiase v. Hacksaw Duggan (Mid South - No DQ, LLT, Tuxedo, Coal Miner's Glove on a Poll, Cage Match; 3/22/85) Tully Blanchard v. Magnum T.A. (NWA - Starrcade, I Quit Match; 11/28/85) Curt Hennig v. Nick Bockwinkel (AWA on ESPN 12/31/86; Taped 11/21/86) El Hijo Del Santo v. Negro Casas (WWA - Mask v. Hair; 7/19/87) Stan Lane/Tom Pritchard v. Bobby Fulton/Jackie Fulton (Barbwire Cage Match)(SMW Fire on the Mountain 8/8/92) - Given 5 from a reader. Terry Funk v. Eddie Gilbert (Texas Death Match)(WWA 11/14/92) Akira Hokuto v. Shinobu Kandori (AJW Dreamslam 4/2/93) Mitsuharu Misawa/Kenta Kobashi v. Steve Williams/Johnny Ace (All Japan 12/10/94)

I believe this to be a complete list through the end of 1994. There are a few matches like Hokuto v. Kandori that had no mention of 5 stars at the time of the show, but he may have listed it as such later on. This list also doesn't include "reported" or matches rated 5 stars by readers (at least to the best I could discern the difference from the way it was written). Kazuo Yamazaki vs. Nobuhiko Takada (UWF 12/5/84) Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody vs. Dory Funk & Terry Funk (AJPW 12/8/84) Tiger Mask II vs. Kuniaki Kobayashi (AJPW 3/9/85) Lioness Asuka vs. Jaguar Yokota (All Japan Women 8/22/85) Jumbo Tsuruta & Genichrio Tenryu vs. Riki Choshu & Yoshiaki Yatsu (All Japan 1/28/86) Ric Flair vs. Barry Windham (NWA Battle of the Belts 2 (CWF 2/14/86) Sheepherders vs. Fantastics (JCP 4/19/86) Ric Flair vs. Barry Windham (NWA World Wide 1/20/87) Chigusa Nagayo vs. Lioness Asuka (All Japan Women 2/26/87) Keiji Mutoh & Shiro Koshinaka vs. Akira Maeda & Nobuhiko Takada (New Japan 3/20/87) Ric Flair vs. Barry Windham (JCP 4/11/87) Lioness Asuka/Mika Komatsu/Kazue Nagahori/Mitsuko Nishiwaki/Etsuko Mita/Sachiko Nakamura vs. Chigusa Nagayo/Yumiko Hotta/Mika Takahashi/Mika Suzuki/Yachiyo Hirata/Yumi Ogura (About 17:30 of 50:00 Shown - All Japan Women 12/6/87) Toshiaki Kawada & Genichiro Tenryu vs. Stan Hansen & Terry Gordy (All Japan RWTL 12/16/88) Genichrio Tenryu, Toshiaki Kawada & Samson Fuyuki vs. Jumbo Tsuruta, Yoshiaki Yatsu/Masanobu Fuchi (All Japan 1/28/89) Ricky Steamboat vs. Ric Flair (NWA Chi-Town Rumble 2/20/89) Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat (WCW/NWA - Landover, MD 3/18/89) (Actually gave it 6*) Ricky Steamboat vs. Ric Flair (2/3 falls, Clash 6 4/2/89) Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat (NWA WrestleWar '89 5/7/89) Jumbo Tsuruta vs Genichiro Tenryu (AJPW 6/5/89) Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk ("I Quit" Match, Clash 9 11/15/89) Jushin Liger v. That's not really a defense of the match. Respond to the criticisms and explain why we're wrong if this is how you feel. I didn't say anyone was wrong to criticize this match as I'd wager no match in history is free from having its detractors. My quote of it being a perfect match is obviously subjective like any opinion. My last sentence was a completey seperate thought not particularly linked to the quality or lack thereof regarding this match, rather wrestling in general. It just happened that I typed it in this thread. To be fair, you could replace "wrestling" in that sentence with music, movies, or any other form of entertainment and it would fit and sometimes more accurately. With that said, this isn't so much as a defense as it is just the way I see critique of wrestling in general. Since this is a post for Jumbo v. Misawa, I'll just use it as an example. Scope is very important when judging a match. In general, I'd say it progesses something like this: Quality relative to CARD Now, within there you may throw in comparisons to workers performances recent to said match or any other variables, but generally, and my long winded point is that critiquing matches gets exponentially more fine tuned as you go from CARD to GOAT Contender. I came to this realization when I was doing my Decades list for the 2000's. For instance, my Top 10 for each year/per company only had the scope of THAT COMPANY/THAT YEAR. It had to be this way. If I was to expand that then no WCW or ECW match would of had a prayer of making an appearance. If I were to go one step further and do a Top 10 for all companies in a given year. I would have to be much more critical of each match, noting every mistimed spot, complete botch, finish, etc. Even more so if the Top 10 was for the decade, etc. Also the further you go you really have to consider intagibles like historical impact, etc. to even hope to differentiate between equally great matches when technical efficency peaks. Jumbo/Tsuruta on 6/8/90 is arguably the best match of that card. Again, it's likely the best from the company that month. With June '90 being so strong, the next step is probably where you would have most people dropping support of it. For me, the scope of its perfection goes a bit further, probably dropping just short of GOAT discussion, but then again maybe not. I'm not sure. It usually takes many, many rewatches when you get to that level and also in close succession with a group of other matches in consideration for the same praise.

At the conclusion I thought to myself, "an example of a perfect match." But wrestling fans can be some of the most nit picky, smarky ,elitist, contrarian, critics when they want to be. Only watching this yearbook did I realize Jumbo lost just 3 days earlier losing the TC to Gordy (who lost it to Hansen on this show) which makes me wonder if this foreshadowed the win by Misawa by having Jumbo getting pinned for the TC so close to this. I always thought Jumbo hadn't been pinned for a really long time making this win more of a "moment"

I liked this, but Snowman is a terrible worker. His strikes stink and he can barely stand up throwing them.

Totally opposite feelings from everyone on this. I liked they kept teasing the CO/DCO due to that being the finish of the 2/90 match. The big pop every time they rolled back in. They had to do an indecisive finish, what else? I think this is much better than the February match and peoples feelings about this match echo mine about that one.

This seems out of place as this seems like the match Arn had the same show that JYD showed up as the surprise.

I popped for this as well. I can't help but think Tatum was really pissed and it just happened to fit with his current angle.

Well, in wrestling it seems weak sissy and being homosexual are synonymous. I remember Watts implying it in Mid South, and with all the stories about Cornette (banana, etc.) you never know what these guys are trying to say. It's like the Monsoon cracks about Patterson.

One of the best Valiant promos I've ever seen. His heel promos in the 70's were awesome and this was probably the best since then.

In watching the match it looks like Misawa was getting pissed off that Yatsu and Fuyuki were tugging and pulling at his mask to gain the advantage and so that was part of the reason he had Kawada take it off and he immediately starting kicking ass. So it looks like they were kind of trying to give the fans a reason.

Gossett is a great manager, but his splashes looked terrible, it's basically him tripping and falling. What was the cause of Billy Joe Travis' face turn? Was it on the yearbook and I missed it or was it not available? I see him heeling with Von Erich over the Texas Title and the next thing I know he does a run in to save the babyface's from a beat down.

I agree with soup, Tessa looked amazing. She was rocking the Missy Hyatt shiny pants which Tatum seems to be a sucker for, haha. Thankfully she ditched the crimped hair.

I agree that the USWA stuff is the best it's been this year with three angles really at their peak. I enjoyed this match and it is probaby Austin's best yet. I found it funny that a fan in the audience was wearing the same exact outfit as Tessa was during a Tatum/Dundee match earlier in the month. With the announcers going over how well "Mean Jean" looked, I just happened to notice this.

Anyone else catch Robocop almost eating shit when walking out from the entrance to confront the Horseman? That would have been glorious and nobody would be talking about the Shockmaster twenty years later. Sting was telling him what to do the whole time. Fun for what it was, but I agree all the advertising for Robocop just for a 90 second appearance.
