  1. Hogan is on the Tonight Show and announces his retirement. He says this allows him to take the next step in becoming the president of the United States. Hogan gives a particularly neutral answer of not being a Republican or a Democrat but then follows that up with some crowd pleasing responses to his flat tax initiative and killing Saddam. So, do we think Hulk was even 5% serious about this and thought he might get some public clamoring?
  2. I always love this one too. What was the insignificant match that got them so excited?
  3. I loved Flair's promo as it felt like the CEO of the company giving a spirited Christmas speech where you know he doesn't know the person as well as others but yet you are surprised at how aware he is and how sincere he sounds. The match is great and really should have been filling out the first hour of Nitro's. Eddy seems game and Jericho is gaining some confidence and is smoother in his spots than at many points throughout the year. THe finish is one of the better feel good moments of the year with Brian calling for the bell. A nice surprise in a pretty shoddy month since Survivor Series. (****1/4)
  4. This was a much more grounded and well done promo and I hope they salvage this build somewhat after the atrocious stuff last week.
  5. Taz calls on the turnpike on his cell phone saying that shit happens.
  6. Pretty awful stuff as now after all year of having a pedestrian Douglas vs. Taz build, they want to rehash the Taz vs. Sabu narrative that didn't work out the first time. I did appreciate Taz kicking Sabu as he left and RVD and Fonzie getting pissed but overall this with somber Joey accusing him of trying to break Sabu's neck was ridiculous. Tim makes a good point that this was 5 minutes after Sabu did an Arabian facebuster as a business as usual spot. Really starting to dislike ECW.
  7. In one of the more dumb things I have ever heard, Shane offers Taz to be his bodyguard. Man, November has kind of soured me on this yearbook as we are kind of limping to the finish line. This is one of the worst long term builds for a match I have ever seen.
  8. Shawn lays down the law beforehand and says this will be one on one. I agree that it seems like now XPac has lost a step after being fairly fabulous in most of his yearbook appearances from 1990-1997. Predictably, Shawn turns on his former clique friend and I found it interesting seeing him and Rock in the ring together since they rarely had interaction and also have some animosity with each other. (**)
  9. Spot on here. I couldn't believe my eyes at how bad and ridiculous this was and this is from someone that will go to war over the Jake and Taker segments. This had 0 ounces of believability and felt so contrived. How did Kane know where they were at exactly? Just completely stupid on every level.
  10. Chyna agrees to the date and this is officially the best day in Henry's life. I loved him sprinting to the back.
  11. This was cool with Austin doing his HBK/Owen Hart impersonation and collapsing from the effects of the shovel shot.
  12. We get the announcement that HBK is the new commish. Lawler is a little nervous about this news since no one can control Shawn. Shawn makes his first announcement that XPac vs. Rock is the main event for tonight which doesn't please Vince at all.
  13. To be honest, I have problems with the 1.5 speed with one podcast, VOW, because Rich/Joe talk faster than normal in 1X speed. Otherwise, there isn't a ton of down time but Im still able to obtain the information and enjoyment I need.
  14. Hey Hegs, It is still happening but I am trying to gauge the correct time for interest with all the stuff going on.
  15. 1 hour commute to work each way every day. 6-8 hours at work listening. If I do have to concentrate on something, I usually go to music and I mix in spotify music for 1-2 hours a day just as a change of pace. Evening listening while walking the dog, feeding the baby, doing dishes. I also have started listening at podcasts at 1.5 speed. As a result, I listen to a whole lot of stuff. For example, three weeks ago I randomly started going back through the PTB Vintage Vaults. I am now up to WM 12 so that is about two pods a day of that and I have been caught up on everything else. My current rotation is: 1. All PTBN-PWO pods 2. All PTB Network pods 3. VOW 4. Shake Them Ropes 5. CBS Fantasy Football Today 6. BS Report 7. Cornette/Austin/JR/Jericho when they have a guest I am interested in 8. Grantland Network NFL podcast
  16. This is pretty much the end of the road for The Giant but he does the honors with class letting Goldberg kick out of a chokeslam and taking the spear and jackhammer in great fashion. I thought the Nash and Goldberg pull apart was glamming off of the Bigelow vs. Goldberg one and didn't get as big a reaction. Still, the out of control brawling aspect of Goldbergs character vs. these two men is better than him cutting promos and other stuff he has done since winning the belt. (*)
  17. From Goldberg to Bobby Duncam, talk about a depush.
  18. I like this booking of Nash beating a undercard main event player to build to Starrcade. Wrath looks great hitting a big boot and dropkick before falling to the powerbomb. One of the better 3-4 minute matches of the year actually. (**1/4)
  19. Finally some escalation but I love WIndham but he shouldn't have been the catalyst here. Anyway, Windham beats up on Flair which shocked no one and then a huge beating commences with the NWO B&W looking menacing for the last time.
  20. Here is the Rey 1998 match I have been looking for as I thought this was very good and innovative. Rey was busting out all sort of counters and unique leverage spots here and looked way more confident on his leg than before. He seems to have Kidman beat but Juvy comes out and cashes a receipt from last night by giving Rey a Juvi driver with an LWO shirt on. (***1/2)
  21. Generic Wolfpac promo that I forgot ten minutes after I heard it. Hall was being teased heavily here, more so than I remember. IT shouldn't be a surprise what ended up happening at Starrcade based off of this.
  22. This has been a good undercard feud. I hate the name LWO but whatever. Again, I am impressed with how Kidman has put himself over since the FLock has disbanded.
  23. I will say that as the first match of Nash's regime, this was booked pretty well with a lot of stuff going on. Goldberg and Bigelow have another heated pull apart and at a bare minimum should have fought here. We get faction wars with Horseman vs. Wolfpac vs. splintered B&W. They team up to dump the Giant and Nash's buddy Hall gets a good rub. I did like Nash and Luger going after each other because they want the title shot. Nash ends up winning and is on a collision course with Goldberg at Starrcade. I really don't think this was the right choice.
  24. Goldberg has a buddy in Rick Steiner who is wearing a NItro shirt under his gear for some reason. Who was the annoying referee here? I thought it was Buff for most of the clip until he got beat up himself.
  25. This has turned out to be the good little forgotten feud and I also want to see the full match. The utilized the multiple rings well. The action is building until Rey comes out and ends up helping Kidman win the match which brings the LWO out all pissed off.
