Where the hell was Mean Gene. Both factions of NWO were extremely overplayed. DDP stops at the ramp and Tony interviews him. DDP says he cant believe he is about to do this but he gets cracked with chairs by Rodman and Hogan. The crowd stayed hot throughout this wretched show which is a testament to them.

More Hogan, to quote DDP, GOOD GAWD. Scott visits Hogan on the set of a movie. Yeah. Scott really didn't flourish as a singles star at this point in time.

This bad show just got worse. Liz making out with Bischoff is one of the dumbest things we have seen so far and makes NO sense whatsoever. Piper and Savage cant even get through an interview without beating up each other and Bret looks like he had rather be anywhere else in the world.

Hogan and Bret are in the NWO suite and again Bret is a sidekick. I guess Elizabeth is black and white and Hogan kisses her on the cheek. That made no sense. Also, why is Hogan going crazy vs. Savage. Enough of this. Tony introduces Sting. I really realized during this promo that Wolfpac being under the NWO is the biggest issue as them as a faction within WCW wouldn't have been terrible and Nash could have asked for some redemption. There is something so wrong with STing giving the NWO sign to fans down the aisle. Stings promo is pretty annoying and again not much of a sell for the main event of GAB.

This was my second favorite of the series. After a tentative start, this really opened up. I know I can be a Tony apologist at times but it was Bobby in this match that distracts him and turns the attention away from the match as they start to bicker. Stevie Ray comes down again to help out Booker. I really loved the kick out of the German and it felt like the crowd had been watching the series along as they popped when Booker kicked out. I also liked how when Booker got flashy, Benoit put the boots to him. Booker is able to even this up with a spinning pinning attempt that is something new he debuts. Keep em coming. (***1/4)

Bordering on my list depending in how well I like his Indy run. One thing I think he does have in his corner is high variety of opponents from arik Cannon to Eddie Kingston. He also anchored CZW, PWG, IWA-MS, and Chikara at different points.

Chris Hero VS. AJ Styles 3/22/14 http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/26098-chris-hero-vs-aj-styles-roh-032214/?hl=%2Bchris+%2Bhero CZW vs. ROH Cage of Death http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/21790-samoa-joe-adam-pearce-bj-whitmer-ace-steel-homicide-vs-chris-hero-claudio-castagnoli-necro-butcher-nate-webb-eddie-kingston-roh-death-before-dishonor-iv-071506-cage-of-death/?hl=%2Bchris+%2Bhero CM Punk vs Colt Cabana vs Chris Hero - Winter Wars 2001 Been a while since I saw this, but I remember loving it. Starts with a heel Punk saying Fuck You to the fans and "leaving". This leads to Colt and Hero going to the mat with each other and the doing the whole "good clean wrestling match" stuff with both men being respectful. Punk eventually returns when they both seem down, but it backfires and they end up double teaming him. What seems like standard triple threat formula is turned up a notch when steel chairs are introduced and both Hero and Colt ram Punk HEAD FIRST, unprotected, into chairs in the corner. They absolutely beat the fuck out of him before inevitably turning on each other before going into a finishing stretch with alot of close nearfalls and a hell of a finish. I havent seen a hell of a lot of IWA, but this would be my favourite match from what I've seen of them. After the match Punk owns some idiot fan with the infamous "I'm not holding a mic you stupid bitch" line.

Interesting dynamic here with Ivan having a massive amount of back hair that would make George Steele blush. Moto gets a great reaction disrobing by his attendant and he has the sandals and all to play up the Japanese Culture gimmick Match had its moments. I thought Ivan's forearms smashes especially looked good and stiff. Moto did a ton of judo throws to the throat that didn't look overly impressive but he had some glimmers to like when he puts both of his fingers into Ivan's ears billed as a Japanese nerve hold. Ivan keeps working for a hammerlock and has it locked in. The crowd seems really confused on who to really cheer for in this one and as a result, mostly indifferent. Moto gets pissed and eventually gets DQ'd for not breaking while choking Ivan on the ropes. Another abrupt ending that didn't really portray the escalation they were working toward.

I love the way Jericho pronounces Tony's last name. Jericho reads a letter from Ted with high praise but ultimately the decision cant be reversed. Jericho breaks down at this news and Tony calls it sad. Good segment again amongst a ton of shit.

My lord, of course stuff hasnt been going great for WCW but this Nitro is shaping up to be the first one in forever where everything looks painfully bad and dare I say this wouldn't be out of place in 1999 and 2000 at WCW lowest lows. Bischoff may have been having a great time still backstage at this show but this was really bad and Giant talking about killing insects isnt a great hard sell for the main event of the PPV. Now Giant calls Sting a chicken and coward? What?

I guess we missed the NWO back there with a ton of ladies and alcohol. This looks like bad news behind the scene with this crew. This Nash promo may have been my least favorite interview of the year. Just dreadfully unfunny to me.

Why is Konnan wanting the WCW official to reprimand the NWO. They are taking matters into their own hands.

Tenay polls fans who they think is next for the WOlfpac and DDP is a popular choice. Is WCW just a thing of the past? The howl fires up and the crowd is hopping. Sting has the red and black paint and there is just a lot wrong and annoying with this going back. I agree that Savage voting no was one of the better touches of sense we have seen in a while. I don't know why Nash thinks DDP made the right decision. Nash calls the Wolfpac the dream team. HOgan sounds awful on the mic. Bret looks ridiculous as the sidekick here and this is so dumb as they cut the lights out on the Wolfpac. Fuck WCW right now.

I always like that Rodman did these shows the day after an NBA Finals game. Wow, the Jazz only scored 54 in a finals game. Rodman isn't the biggest star on the Bulls but you don't see Tony Parker walk out with Evolution now. This did try to feel like a big moment and Buffer always does the announcing for Rodzilla and Hogan. The promo wasn't one of Hogan's best and it seems ridiculous that he is STILL calling and feuding with Piper. I did enjoy the spectacle.

I kind of like Hales as someone that feel into something he loved and decided to run a wrestling promotion even though it may not make the most financial sense. Hello Dixie. Anyway, Randy hypes that big card and then announces the Stacey suspension. The feud between King and Hales feels really shoe horned based on what is happening in WWF but I will see how it plays out.

Parts of this was good including the stuff with the big wrestlers around ringside but other felt like gratuitous interfering and choppy. This ultimately resulted in an uneven match and Mini Abismo had some awkward looking stuff on top. It may be an unfair standard but the mini stuff we have gotten on the yearbooks generally has been awesome so this being only good felt like a bit of a letdown. (***)

Another thing I was thinking about was instead of a set quantity of matches you were able to vote for, how about a specific percentage of say 15% in each category? I see pros and cons to this but If we do institute the 15 year rule for example, next year would have the Japan 2000's category instituted more than likely. If we allow a certain amount of matches to be selected from each category, a person could conceivable vote for what I would see as inferior matches being included. I think there are great matches or historical significant matches every year but this selection will be scrutinized greater overall. Another option would be to limit the overall amount of votes you can pick like Meltzer does. Let me know what you guys think.

I dig the pre 80's all encompassing idea and think that is a lock. Only worry I have with not including the JCP/NWA stuff with WCW is just looking from the WCW stuff 1989 onward, I am not sure how many matches I would be able to justify for this list. Also, where would people slate ECW? Indies or Territories - I feel like they should either be the last territory in consideration or the first indy (there could possibly be some TWA with the Gilbert vs. Cactus stuff)

Choshu is definitely someone that has skyrocketd up in my rankings the past few years. I always saw him as generic guy that relied too heavily on his charisma and repeated moves way too often. Now, I am able to see how versatile he could be and was a master of putting together matches.

Excellent stuff OJ , dandy is certainly someone where I want to watch his lesser stuff to see where he ranks.

I do think pipers best showing would be in the character work and promo heavily weighted crowd. I'm not valuing promos at all and character work would have to be defined better whereas charismatic and overacting doesn't necessarily mean outstanding work. Does piper emote louder and show more outward charisma than misawa did? Of course, but I don't know if he played his character overall better and for as long as misawa did with the stoic ace.

Ok, let's crack this thing open. First fall was some good stuff with Lou getting chippy and doing some cheating when he gets the chance with punches in the front face lock. This was a good example I thought of the NWA Champ coming in to work the territories challenge de jour. Second fall with Silversteen down a fall wasn't that great and the missed dropkick Lou had was really weak. I am not sure who the announcer is but he is really good explaining the story and that Lou is being really tested here and resulting to cheap tactics. Third fall started out good with them exchanging holds and leaning on the ropes with a good crowd reaction but fizzled with Silversteen locked on a arm scissors. Lou fights out and hits the Thesz press abruptly to win the match. I thought this was uneven overall but I saw some good promise from Lou and look forward to his remaining matches.

Honestly Piper feels like the first guy thrown out there where I don't see much chance of him making my top 100 at all. He could be fun at times and in the occasional great match but he is way too inconsistent in-ring for a list like this for me.
