  1. If I had to turn in a list today: 1. Mitsuharu Misawa 2. Ric Flair 3. Stan Hansen 4. Kenta Kobashi 5. Genechiro Tenryu
  2. This was very good too although I am less high than Loss and there is one reason why. Shiro Koshinaka. Chono and Tenryu were clearly the highlights here and brought great charisma and emphasis to everything they did. Tenzan won me over by the end and stuff that he does effectively today you could see taking shape in matches like these. Koshinaka did his butt butt and was pretty awkward for the segments he was in. I was happy to see him get the pin and this felt like a big victory for Tenzan on his escalation up the card. (***1/2)

    Koji Kanemoto

I may be riding the wave of seeing Koji at his peak but he was great for a stretch of 1998. I also know that he was super in the match vs. Fujita from 2009 I believe? I need to fill in a lot of gaps but he is under consideration. Anyone willing to make a primer for him that spans his last decade or so?
  4. I watched this as homework for the yearbook set and thought it was a great match then. I stand by that now and really enjoyed it on rewatch. It did to me feel like a junior version of the multiman matches in NJPW past with interwoven storylines being brought to the forefront. Kashin getting the big push seems suspect with what we know now but him in this match was good hitting the flash cross armbreakers with precision. I also really dug Hayashi flying around everywhere and Koji/Otani being an enormous dick tag team. Koji vs. Wagner is a hell of a feud and I was proud to see Koji pin Liger setting up their big showdown the next month. Great stuff and the 30 minutes flew by. (****)

    Daniel Bryan

No beef for me, Daneilson is one of the few that on first glance, I don't know how high he will land. I need to rewatch a ton of early 00's indy stuff to see how well it holds up but am optimistic that Bryan's style will hold up well. How well will be the difference between him being #50 or #5 on my list but I do see him as a strong top 10 contender for me at the very least.
  6. Wow, this match kind of blew me away. I know that seems foolish given who is involved but I had watched this match before and never heard any hype about it and I thought it was great with a ton of interweaving interesting stuff. Kobashi vs. Kawada is to the forefront for their big Budokan showdown. Initially, Kobashi getting pinned seemed weird but knowing where they are headed, it makes a lot of sense. Taue gets his leg attacked in good fashion by both Ace and Kobashi and makes a valiant comeback. This is essentially the swan song for Ace and he did himself well on the way out with some slightly awkward moments but otherwise, he was a plus instead of a subtraction in this match. I thought the nearfalls and saves all made good sense and didn't get into ridiculous excess with people kicking out of multiple finishers. I really adored this. (*****1/4)
  7. Jericho ringing the bell was awesome. He has the Ed Strangler Lewis loophole which actually may be legit after the original Montreal Screwjob incident. Jericho tells Dean to give it to him and Dean responds by socking him with the belt. This really should have resulted in a long grudge match at GAB with Dean winning and Jericho being elevated and finding other stuff to do.
  8. Not as much time given to this one but it is a good match for the time given. Booker knows his back is up against the wall and throws a lot of heavy artillery at Benoit. Benoit is finally able to gain an opening and tries to end this series right here with big moves of his own including the Germans and diving headbutt. He goes for the crossface but through the encouragement of Stevie Ray, Booker avoids. Stevie then distracts Benoit and a missile dropkick make this 3-2. This is twice that Benoit has lost his focus paying attention to someone on the outside. I think this was my second favorite match of the series so far. (***1/4)
  9. This was trash. Sexual jokes by Gertner. Violence on woman to be shocking. Aimless weapons being used to set up cool spots. Jack Victory being treated like a big player and Joey overselling it on commentary to close things out.
  10. Wow. I have enjoyed 1998 and certain matches have been great but very little has blown me away. This match blew me away and was a junior epic that felt appropriate and satisfactory in every facet. Wagner gave a great performance here twisting and turning Kanemoto 10 ways to Sunday and amping up his arsenal to more knock out blows while getting progressively more desperate that he cant put Kanemoto away. I could see an argument that the Splash Mountain should have been the finish, but LIger and Otani rallying Kanemoto on the apron and the sympathy that is built on him makes it a great moment when he conquers Wagner and wins the tournament. This was super and honestly as of right now, I am not sure I have ever seen a junior match from Japan I liked better. (****3/4)
  11. They did a good job in this match using this main event to set the main event of KOTR immediately after OVer the Edge but not to phase Foley out as he is revitalized as Mankind and the feud with the Undertaker doesn't seemed played based on their brawling here. I loved the visual of Kane with the fire in front of Austin and Vince beeming. Was surprised to see Kane get the pinfall victory here as it does rehabilitate him well.
  12. Vince doing the call in to the Mancow show was world's better than that atrocious Bray Wyatt call in on Jericho's podcast the other week. This shows WWF being more mainstream by the day.
  13. Sable is getting shot by a photographer before he gets bullied by super soakers and DX. Yep, this was 1998 and my childhood personified.
  14. This felt like a predecessor to the American Bad Ass Taker and I'm not sure if that is a good thing as he was too whiny in his promo. Man alive was Vince all kinds of awesome asking if Taker's mom really was a whore. Just a magnificent prick. This promo sets up a Kane vs. Taker main event for Raw.

    Jeff Jarrett

So Jarrett to me is lumped in with some other TNA guys. I really don't want to watch that footage but feel like I should at least give it a glance to see if anything surprises me.
  16. So 70's wrestling and 2014 wrestling are in the same category? I want to get the regions set in stone before moving on to whether we are breaking up the years or not.
  17. Correct, SummerSlam 1992 would be WWF. It gets a little murkier with something like the M-Pro tag on Barely Legal but I say those types of exceptions would make it a nominee for the home promotion as well if we have any.

    Larry Zbyszko

Would definitely check out the match he had vs. Sting in March 1991. Cuts a great pace and makes Sting look awesome. The Regal 1994 series speaks for itself. Four matches, all different. All are very good.
  19. So I'm thinking this should at least have the following regions: WWF NWA/WCW Territories Japan Lucha Britain Would anyone see any big opposition to that before we talk about splitting up eras or years. I don't want to exclude anyone from making a list because they don't want to watch foreign footage and I do think all of the regions above have multiple matches worthy of being in a pro wrestling matches hall of fame.

    Sangre Chicana

Could someone confirm if this is the 92 match?

    Jeff Jarrett

Have you seen the early 90's babyface run Wiz? I don't think Jarrett was bland at all and had a tough sell as the owners son that he played up nicely. I don't know if Jarrett will make my list but he isn't a laughable candidate you might think on first glance.

    Stan Hansen

vs. Andre - NJPW 9/23/1981 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bp0Wo7hLTIE vs. Funk - AJPW 4/14/83 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9W-io5xUJE vs. Jumbo - AJPW 10/21/86 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuxzWyYhveY vs. Carlos Colon - 1986 vs. Tenryu - 7/27/88 w/ Tenryu vs. Jumbo/Yatsu - 12/6/89 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFzUH_B35mA vs. Kobashi 9/4/91 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dT9s9oAql9Q vs. Misawa 3/8/92 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLk4yc7xwa8 vs. Kawada 4/6/92 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFY3o3AOGEI vs. Taue 4/11/94 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VImAOJ75wiw Ten matches, all I would classify as very good at least. Some our the best matches he had vs. an opponent IMO (Jumbo, Funk) and others are just wetting the appetite for a great feud you can seek out more of.
  23. I also think the Misawa matches with him being the heavy favorite allow different strategies to combat that. Do you try a series of your big moves like Kawada did. Do you have a knockout blow like Doc does with the backdrop driver. How about working over a body part to neutralize his attack (1/20/97). Also, you can attack him from the onset and try to win that way. These little differences make his run distinctive and different.
  24. Rough week of pods with nothing on the Austin, MLW, Jericho or Ross front for me. Tried the Russo show and made it 20 minutes in. I will give the Total Divas show a shot since you recommended Joe.
  25. Vader vs. Cesaro is a match I havent ever given any thought too but sounds glorious. Also Vader being a bully base for Zayn. Damn it Childs, why did you have to bring that point up.
