Holy shit this sounds awesome, and I continue the friendly rivalry between us and Where the Big Boys Play on episode numbers.

Actually have a fairly good core of guys to work with Boricua. As far as a fantasy league type thing for this, I had a lot of fun for this show but would probably be receiving my divorce papers if I did this regularly as Im almost positive I put more thought into the booking here than I did on buying my first house.

Looking forward to this project like all of yours Superstar. Cool first match to pick it out too.

Heartbroken that Johnny has the Cota/Rocca match last for the party. Delighted he has Satanico/Atlatis #1 though.

Lizmark vs. El Satanico (April 1984) This is a beautiful match overall. Satanico I think was slightly less here than in the Atlantis match but that is no knock as his Atlantis match performance is probably one of my favorite rudo displays all time. Lizmark was right there with him most of the way in this match and this had a good amount of hatred but also grace. Finish is another one that wasn't very satisfactory and again detracts a little where this match with a tighter finish could have been a top 10 candidate for the entire set. ****1/4

I think this seems pretty close to the consensus. I think I'm the big outlier, watched this again last night when I wanted something on before bed that I wouldn't have to write and analyze about too deeply and it was awesome again. This match just seems to hit on all of my sweet spots in wrestling and think this match exudes a formula match to a tee.

The Styles interview while fairly basic was good. I just started listening to this pod the past couple of weeks and can really blow through the interviews because of the casual nature of them. I like it much better than Colt's podcast personally.

He came back to WWF with vignettes and then started his run to the title. Probably should have made the 160 and would be interesting to see where he would slot. I don't think this will be the last draft of this type we do though and Slaughter should fit in for some other years I have in mind.

Charles, you wont believe this but Lightning Kid didn't make the cut. I honestly didn't think of him when Parv was asking me if there was guys missing because I threw out some USWA and USWA TX names. However, I did create a Snowman/Tony Atlas led tag team with Teddy Long managing that feels like a Loss special.

What is your general sucess/failure ratio?

Awesome Martin, in this revival of tag teams and my love for them you have played a big part in me going back and watching matches that you pimp. -
PTB Episode 256: PTB Summit: Tag Team Extravaganza
soup23 replied to Bigelow34's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Rougeau's are not a team I have looked back on fondly at. They have the match vs. The Rockers that is very good but mostly schtick. Rest is pretty disappointing comedy level stuff. Scorp/Bagwell is a team I really need to watch with an analytical eye but can seem them being pretty fun. -
I'll admit, never realized Golddust was supposed to look like an Oscar until Charles mentioned it here. Good rundown of all the champions when the IC belt really meant something. Really can't wait to watch those Tito vs. Valentine matches.

Hijo del Santo, Ringo Mendoza y Chamaco Valaguez vs. Jerry Estrada, Fuerza Guerrera y Talisman (3/9/84) Some more individuals I am not too familiar with (tailsman, Valaquez). The Santo interaction in the first fall was a ton of fun vs. both Fuerza and Estrada. Fuerza in particular shows a lot of fire in the onset. Mendoza comes in to relinquish Santo from the corner and he has a quick flurry with Fuerza and Estrada bumping around. We then get some neat heel miscommunication spots with Tailsman and Fuerza not being able to get on the same page. Santo and Fuerza have their typical good sequence then Valaquez and Estrada have a nice sequence with Estrada takinga backdrop through the ring ropes. Big tecnico flurry with submissions and dives from Santo wins the first fall for them. Second fall starts off really fun with Santo just bouncing off the rudos and them running into each other with comedy spots. Estrada is able to get the advantage of Mendoza and Tailsman kicks him on top of the head coming in. However, Mendoza is able to fall through to the floor. Valaguez gets a beating to and Santo as well. Rudos are dominant now. More mask tugging and agression from Fuerza. Tailsman gives valaguez a powerbomb without any regard for his health. Rudos take the second fall as Santo gets posted. On the third fall, they really go after Santo and his mask untying it. I liked the other tenicos trying to get in but Estrada keeps them at bay. Finally we get the big comeback against Fuerza. Fuerza gets his mask ripped. Finish comes when Fuerza is able to take Santo's mask off. Now this was a good tag with a lot of good action and followed a formula but something seemed off for me and I think it was how two bit both Mendoza/Valaguez felt. ***1/4

This is getting there for me and I work at a job where I have earbuds in all time and usually alternated 2-3 hours a day of music with 2-3 hours a day of podcasts. I listen to all the pods for the website plus the Observer audio minus a few (Wrestling weekly, MMA only shows, After Dark) and also the Steve Austin show along with other podcasts like Maron, Bill Simmons, and Firewall and Iceberg podcast.

One of the most memorable moments of course, but I'm going to shit on the crowd here. When they embrace after the proposal most of the crowd in the shot is disinterested and not clapping. Have a fucking heart. This is one of my favorite wrestling things as I impersonate the "will you marry me" all the time

Pretty disappointed in this all around. For Austins first title win, he was bumping hard but seemed over extending himself in some spots and Bobby honestly didn't seem too eager to get a great performance out of him. I feel bad they put the breaks on the Bobby title win so soon especially with the exodus of Flair. Seeing Austin win his first title does show he has arrived in the big two.

I liked this as a Jumbo/lesser opponent showcase even though you knew where this was headed. Also Ogawa vs. Kawada doesn't feel like a feud you see very much but it was heated here and Misawa busted out his athletic side. Fun but forgetable.
