Kris I will ask you, did Bruno ever work Georgia?
-
HOF is usually on the WM DVD Matt. Sometimes you have to buy the special edition version.

Going through the podcast this show was really scatterbrained booked. We saw that with the October Raws to in who exactly to cheer for and boo. Everyone seemed to be finding their ground. Shame that Vader ends his run here and what he was reduced to. Looking through his WWF tenure makes his 1999 All Japan run more satisfying. I am still upset the Fantastics lost in the first round.

They announced his induction in Atlanta, not exactly a town Bruno is known for. The crowd was going apeshit at the end of the video.

Good to know Zenjo. Joshi is back in my good graces after November, but I was just coming off the high of 1994 which really made me a bigger fan of Joshi than at any point before.

I havent watched Ki/Dragon 2001-2002 series in a while but I love it as a comparison to the trilogy of matches we saw from Kid/Lynn in 1990.

Oh that Dave Taylor match in ROH at WM weekend was a complete piece of shit and waste of time for everyone involved.

May sound hokey, but seeing his video package gave me legit chills.

Having trouble getting through the AWA set?
soup23 replied to goodhelmet's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Good guidelines to have going in, I will have to power through the last few matches on disc 1 but should be good to go. -
The key to any 80's set is to be at least ahead or on the same level as one of the people running it. Pretty much guarentees you wont miss a deadline. Had a slow work day and the IT department was asleep at the wheel so I was able to watch some random Lawler goodness on youtube. Mostly videos and interviews. Heard some really great stuff from his 1992 feud with the Moondogs.

I will admit to being guilty of this to an extent. I still read all the posts up to a certain point and time (for instance I have still read all of 1990 comments so far) but fail to comment mostly due to thinking my opinion has been stated or someone is asking a question I don't know the answer to.

I think Colt can be a very good worker but I do think the comedy can get too cute many times and he lets the matches get out of hand. I’m specifically thinking about the slow motion sequences and shit like that. I really liked Colt best in the 2005 era when he was busting out quirky British matwork but could also be serious when he needed to be in teaming or working against Punk. One thing that is not really persistent here but I disagreed when people would spout it off on other message boards is how much "untapped" potential he has for the WWE. His run there went about as predictable as one could have hoped and Colt doesn't seem to have the adaptability like Bryan or Punk to an extent to survive in that environment.

[1990-11-24-NWA-World Championship Wrestling] Terry Taylor vs Rip Rogers
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in November 1990
I kind of love that this is his #1 match. Rogers is bolting up my rankings. He is good at everything he does from feeding into Taylor's spots to given these short vicious headbutts. I liked this better than any match in the Arn/Taylor series. -
I am a Tony fan but will say this felt like him calling this match at 2 AM half asleep in Turner's studios. This match was not very good and made the series disappointing as a whole. The finish was also kind of weak and I would have liked to see more conclusion to this mini feud.

[1990-11-24-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler & Bill Dundee
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in November 1990
Only decent promos from these two and is looks like this week was a cool down week for the USWA with not a whole lot going on. -
[1990-11-24-USWA-Memphis TV] Eddie Gilbert vs Jamie Dundee
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in November 1990
Awesome as black magic makes sense. This match was pretty good and one of the better studio ones we have seen. Gilbert led Dundee into what he could do at this point and the match told a good story. -
[1990-11-24-WWF-Superstars] Update: Demolition on probation!
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in November 1990
Tunney lays down the gavel making Demo only have two members and putting poor Fuji in the ring to fulfill their obligations. I thought leading into this that this might have been the introduction of Diamond onto the Orient Express. -
[1990-11-23-NWA-Power Hour] Ric Flair vs Buddy Landell
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in November 1990
Not a bad match with Flair running the gauntlet but sort of disappointing. I really liked the beginning with them warming up and starting the match in the same fashion. Match sort of dwindled off of that but was still ok and had to be included for novelty sake. -
[1990-11-23-WWF-The Main Event] Interview: Ultimate Warrior

Holy shit another good Warrior promo? What is the world coming to. This made me really look forward to the feud with Savage. -

[1990-11-23-WWF-The Main Event] Ultimate Warrior vs Ted DiBiase
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in November 1990
I agree that I liked Warriors pre match promo and Ted was really devious. Match is pretty good and I also must admit that Warrior's big matches for the year have at worst been decent (vs. Rude SNME) and most have been good (this, WM6, Rude Cage match). The beatdown and Warrior rising up was awesome and the most iconic moment of his title reign. I even liked Vince yelling the Ultimate Champion when he lifts up the belt. Great showing all around to salavage his title run. -
Really here to give a happy ending. It was weird that in this match Martel was more protected than Dibiase. I wonder if they knew by this point whether it would be Slaughter/Hogan at WM 7. I would assume with how the Savage/Warrior feud is shaping up.

I would say vs. Homicide from Bitter Friends Stiffer Enemies 2003 would be a frontrunner.
-
It honestly is kind of weird how Corino just started gaining weight. I looked up his age figuring him to be about 21-22 in his ECW run and was alarmed to see he was already 26 or so. Corino definitely is a guy I will need to revisit down the road. I enjoyed a lot of his stuff when it happened fine but that was a point in my wrestling life where I was seeking out moves and spots more so besides his matches with Homicide, I didn't like his ROH run at the time. I also haven’t seen any MLW or other lower indy mid 2000's stuff. That match he had with Rich though was incredible and was one of the best matches I can think of with someone who is extremely limited in what they can do.
