  1. Foley starts things off and is ready to make his ruling for SummerSlam but Angle interrupts. He says he wont be the New Jersey of champions. Bruno gets a name drop. Foley comes out and officially makes the main event of SummerSlam a triple threat. He gets a big pop using the Rock’s catchphrase and sets up a tag team main event tonight with Kurt/HHH vs Taker/Rock. Backstage, we get a variety of Just Joe segments with him telling Angle he should be worried about HHH and that HHH should be worried about Shane. The match itself is fun as WWF has hit a nice groove in giving their tv matches enough time to make them good while building to the next PPV that is on the docket. Undertaker looks as strong here as he has since he has returned. He does end up getting the pin which can seem wasteful but it does come after more problems with HHH/Angle so it makes logical sense. *** (6)
  2. This was mainly used a backdrop to again build to the TLC match upcoming. As a standalone tag match, it was fine and showcased some of the highlights/overness of the teams at this point in time. The build for TLC has been really good with all the weapons being integrated but never all at once like what will happen on the PPV. **
  3. The setup to this tag was weird as Chyna looks pretty catty picking a fight with Trish backstage over how many wrinkles she has. I liked the tag match a good bit as the issue with Benoit and Jericho feels personal which A. helps improve on their feud earlier in the year and B. doesn’t make it seem like Benoit or Jericho have been demoted from their Fully Loaded feuds. Eddy also looked good and active here hitting a rana out of a unique position. Finish worked with Jericho/Eddy thinking they had the match won but Benoit is able to hit the top rope headbutt for the win. After the match Jericho is pissed but he gets locked in a crossface. **3/4
  4. I guess Ian Rotten would apply here. A generally scuzzy worker that is always shit on in pretty much every circle I have seen besides this one and the IWA-MS fans that come and go.
  5. Still contend this is one of the more overrated matches in WWF history. I have watched it on some live watches and at other points in the past couple of years and it doesn't top out at ***1/2 for me. Also, one of the dumbest decisions ever by a manager for Fuji to walk out on Demolition for Powers of Pain. The answer to this question as hypothesized in the original post is Savage vs Warrior.
  6. Hughes offers up Fink as a bet when he has lost all of his clothes and money. He loses that as well and Fink is now property of the APA I guess.
  7. I assume this is the last of them getting ousted of entering into the building. This Nitro was so exhausting I perused it on the Network and we didn't even get anything of the Bret vs Sting stuff that happened or Flair hopping on the bed when Kim is in lingerie in the hotel room.
  8. The lucha masks were a clever cover up, It worked for Dean Malenko!
  9. Snow blows the whistle to Mick on where he finds the book. Mick doesn't take the news well.
  10. I have to side with Mick here. Rock was being a prick and couldn't even have the courtesy to throw it in his trunk or something.
  11. Miss Kitty is looking like mini me Chyna. Jericho comes out and does a pretty big promo where he runs down Chyna calling her fake and not a woman. The whole dynamic is weird here with Chyna as the face but still associated with HHH and Jericho getting cheered by some even though he is being a big asshole.
  12. Rock isn't concerned with the lowly tag titles. Mick is able to give him a book memento and mr. Socko to use as a bookmark. What a guy.
  13. Acolytes are showing some personality with the APA gimmick and laughing and drinking. Mankind is looking for his buddy with the Rock N Sock shirt.
  14. Mark talks about his troubles with therapy and he finally feels like he is on the right path. Unfortunately he goes in for a non sexual hug and gets aroused ending in a make out session. Awful stuff.
  15. What a weird ass nitro as it feels like we have done a month worth of stuff in one night. Flair's promo wasn't any great shakes and the program vs the Animals doesn't really excite me overall.
  16. You think Hall would ditch the shiny shirt instead of trying to find a Mexican match. The stuff with Nash's cold was pretty funny I must admit.
  17. Holy shit, I had forgotten about this but it is one of the worst matches and segments of the year. So META and uninteresting and just a waste overall. The buzz for Jarrett coming out was the only redeeming part. DUD
  18. I did like Luger here wanting some reassurance from Liz on just how awesome he is and both not believing a word they are saying.
  19. Wow what a suit for Sid. He is all business tonight and has lawyered up. Sid's promo is poor until Goldberg comes out there. Goldberg spears one of the lawyers before eating a boot from Sid. The lawyer shakes off the spear more than most wrestlers. Sid pushes the contract down Goldbergs throat. Afterwards, we get the shoving match between the Outsiders and Goldberg. Yeah, overall this was a miss for me.
  20. Kim has her Nitro Girl gear on. She offers David a key to her hotel room. The Filthy ANimals are celebrating and what a great feud to insert themselves into than with the First Family.
  21. Eddy calling Harlem Heat out of shape when you have Konnan lumping around was interesting. The action here was pretty bad and the structure is messed up with the Animals acting like heels but they are building to a Rey hot tag. Action in the final few moments is good with Rey diving around and he gets the surprise pin to become the new champions. Welcome to the world of Russo.
  22. Seven in the window looked creepy.
  23. We go straight to the finish with Rock getting involved and hitting Austin but HHH does get that big victory and JR puts it over well on commentary. Chyna helping him out backstage makes zero sense and really is a logistic hole in everything.
  24. One thing I appreciated about this is that it took a concept no one cared about in the TIT and added four characters they weren't too fond of either and made them look like stars coming out. At the beginning, the crowd was politely cheering the customary ladder shots but by the end, the innovation had the crowd in a frenzy and you could see the appreciation and investment increasing with each new highspot. I think they will top themselves in the years going forward with these spectacle spotfests but this was a strong jumping on point. ***3/4 (7.6)
  25. Tatanka was never exciting to me and why this was well done from a production standpoint, I found it to be dry.
