A bit of googling revealed it is not exclusive to wrestling, but wrestling does dominate the usage. And in some other contexts, they even use it for conditions other than intoxication.

Entirely unrelated, but did Meltzer coin "in no condition to perform" or did he adopt it from the guys? It only recently struck me what a sad little euphemism it is for "too intoxicated to work." I'm not sure I've ever heard it in any other context.

Especially when it's Nick Patrick and the wrestlers are smaller than him. The other day I caught him hesitating to intervene on Morton post-belling Pillman. He was literally a head taller than both.

That doesn't even require much of an argument, from what I recall without watching any of that stuff again, which I never will. Hell, Chyna was more over than Trips for awhile.

Really great segment that I remember vividly from the 60-minute Sting VHS when I was a kid. But I have to say that Sting going to the wrong door outside the arena is not only peak WCW, but peak Sting. Poor guy. The "owwww!" that barely escapes from Sting's mouth before he gets clipped and smacked with the phone is brilliant. -
I have somehow not actually seen this before, and it sure does live up to the hype. What a gorgeous finish! My main qualifications for a really good finish are that it look forceful enough and that it has a bit of creativity, and this one pays off both in spades. The faces beat the Enforcers at their own game with a blind tag and a bit of confusion.

The old conventional wisdom, assumption, Scott Keith bullshit, whatever...was that it was too soon after his facial reconstruction surgeries. Meltzer just describes his run-ins and then says "I guess [the character] has been dropped" when reporting the debut of the Barber Shop a few weeks later. The build seemed to be for an Earthquake feud, as Quake did the stretcher job for him during one of the layouts. And so I don't post a 3rd time like a jackass, the Nasties/Money Inc. feud produced some decent matches. -

I doubt Bill Watts had the slightest thing to do with what Virgil was named in 1999. Curly Bill is a "generic Western" name that also happens to be funny when applied to a completely bald guy. -
Those are terms that have been used colloquially for like over a hundred years and originated during a time when gender equality was not a thing. It's hard to change something that is used by society as a whole. By contrast the terms Superstar and Diva were invented in the wrestling context in the last 20 years in a post-feminism era when there's really no excuse to go out of your way to highlight the gender separation. Besides WWE keeps trying to push the Divas division as some sort of women's empowerment movement so simply calling them Superstars along with the men instead of using something with a negative connotation like Divas would make sense in that context. Spot on. And I think emphasizing the sexy (and catty, unfortunately) side of the sexy/athletic duality will make it a bit harder to get them over as athletes. But I just saw a long, pretty good women's match in WWE last night, and that's a good thing. Oh, and bachelor/bachelorette is pretty necessary to describe a man and woman in relation to each other, and waiter/waitress have been joined by the increasingly popular "server."

Yeah, did they take a week off from the usual nonsense and just run a wrestling show? Am I crazy? I could swear Trips and Steph didn't even come out after the first segment. I don't watch Raw all the time but that's much better than I'm accustomed to...ignoring in the background once in awhile. Still wouldn't have paid for a ticket, but a nice freebie.

There was clear go away heat. If people would turn off their LEDs they'd have to stop pushing him entirely, I think. Another perfectly acceptable women's match, though.

I thought this was shockingly okay considering what and who it was. The whole weekend after Havoc was a minor miracle of sudden watchability*: Windham/Arn match on Pro, hot old-fashioned six man on SN (Hayes/Windham/Rhodes vs Austin/Zbyszko/Anderson), Windham/Zbyszko, this, and the first submit or surrender (Badd/Eaton) on Worldwide, the six man title match on Main Event...the mind boggles. WCW is such a starts and fits company at this point, but things are looking way up this month. * In the ring. Some angles have been fun for awhile. -
[1991-11-02-WCW-Pro] Barry Windham vs Arn Anderson

What a find! This is the first great (~4*) match I can recall in WCW since April's Pillman/Flair and Pillman/Windham. That's an eternity, though there were some very good matches here and there. As others have said, a hold and catch based clinic in the mold of Arn/Regal. I tremendously respect the ability to get heat and carry interest without a lot of high spots, which both guys have a proven history of. And having just watched some Rockers/Brain Busters matches, I love Arn's versatility. Both the finishes were pretty nifty. This is THE reason to watch all the TV if you're doing a watch-through. I will have to keep an eye out for the version with Ross commentary, as I had Schiavone on Pro Chicago. I can't wait for 6/6/92, which I recall as amazing but haven't seen in a few years. -
What else can I say, except that the ghoul medics are top-notch WCW crap, and I think this is the first Sting/Vader exchange, which I never realized before for some reason. Nor that Windham's injury was legit, which presumably means they were really going to put him in here after his 3-month face turn, his teaming with Dustin for 2 weeks, and the company acknowledging through the broadcasters that they didn't understand why he would team with the heels. Yikes.
