  1. I don't think Republicans think black people march around in unicorn horns and neon pleather playing RPG ditties on trombones. Now if you want to bring up Crime Tyme or R Truth or the original gospel incarnation of New Day...

    WrestleMania 32

the star is just as synonymous with Texas...you know...the Lone Star State. Really think you're reading way too much into that. It's a blue star with a silver and blue outline. I'm not saying it really was a quibbling point in the contract, or that it isn't a good idea to use it, because it is. But it's clearly the Cowboys star.

    WrestleMania 32

Historical curiosity: 32 is the first, and maybe the only possible, Mania logo with a sports team logo in it. At least until they try Yankee Stadium. And the idea of Vince getting big-timed on a small but showy thing like that by Jerry Jones makes me laugh a little bit. Couple of world class a-holes there, and I mean that semi fondly.
  4. I would understand if you want to ding it for the nature and execution of the finish, and I can only imagine the fit Shawn threw at Vader in the back, but the rest of the match is so damn good I would also understand if you didn't. The finish actually turns into a pretty fun moment with the sudden tension of the Claw and the Taker pop-up, and in the context of an IYH it just kind of works.
  5. No year zero, and so forth. The original "tens" weren't 0 CE to 9 CE. But yeah, in common parlance a decade is xxx0-xxx9.
  6. I think if they set the ticket prices low and paper a decent amount they'll be okay. But that place is gigantic.
  7. So what exactly was the turning point for the crowd? The Lesnar elimination, the Reigns return...? Also, is it too paranoid to suggest Trips ducked the Superman punch so bad on purpose?
  8. That was insufferable. But the momentum of the match has actually been waning since Lesnar entered.
  9. Decent match, great segment. Glad to see them get a proper hype package and a large block of time.
  10. Yew tell me how yuh can TEACH guys to do front flips through taybuls, Maggle! Speaking of JBL, what team is he talking about when he says Ole originated the Freebird rule?
  11. I know the usual response to talking about Owens being fat is that it doesn't affect his work, but um...when I see him barely jog through an Irish whip two minutes in, I start to wonder if maybe it does.
  12. I have to stand by it, I think he was a useless slug and those gimmicks are associated with some of the dumbest shit in company history. But, like Matt said, the more I think about it I can't see that one being true for business reasons.
  13. I hate to bandy about phrases that I don't even really believe apply to something like the WWE HOF, but Godfather is a new low. I did figure they would include Garvin just so Hayes wouldn't have to go solo, and I look forward to seeing his bald airline pilot self showing up just for the jarring dissonance from the Gorgeous One.
  14. Forgettable, poorly booked finish to a forgettable, poorly booked show. This is the stubborn and tone-deaf side of Watts at its worst. This show left such a bad taste that it's stalled my WCW watch-through progress for weeks now.
  15. For sheer loudness in the ring, few were on his level.
  16. Highly underrated. I think a lot of people wrote it off at the time as silly, which is an odd complaint in wrestling and totally without context besides. Of course it was silly, it was some madcap telenovela stuff that Eddie and Rey wrote themselves to appeal to the Latinos who made up a huge and growing part of SmackDown's audience then. Loss said this more or less, I should read the whole thread next time.
  17. I love it too. And, if I can circle back around to one of Mick's replies, that might explain why kookypunk ranks Foley/Rock and Foley/Taker. Those aren't my favorite *matches* but they're singular brutal spectacles that I've had friends ask me to dig up and rewatch more than once.
  18. Walmart has them. Maybe exclusively? I don't recall that part.
  19. Bit of a shame they had Madusa "cry" here instead of just getting pissed, especially as she's supposed to be such a badass. That kind of reaction was well out of date by 1992. Vader had been signed to defend the US title against Nikita for Rude, though it seems odd that Paul would mastermind such a move when he himself had purposely and confidently signed Rude to two matches in one night. Oh well, that's not the real point of this segment anyway.
  20. Strange few weeks to close out the year for Pillman, as they clearly try to establish the Austin team over multiple weeks in October, then put him with Windham for a hot minute, then do a double reverse back to the Blondes.
  21. Paul is still one of the best smug blowhards in the business, but I actually like Madusa--sorry, "Deucey" better as Rude's manager, taunting Chono in Japanese and kicking Nikita Koloff in the face.
  22. Fantastic match that is not generally in the WCW "canon." I really love the structure tying into the story: the full TV segment-length shine is more of a face control because you can't push around the MVC. Doc, bless his heart, goes into total telegraph/doin' too much mode at the finish, but no matter. Oddly enough, Doc and Gordy gave the Steiners their clean job back on Worldwide the week before, making them explicit #1 contenders...for no reason at all, in the end. Such strangeness surrounded the Steiners' way out.
  23. The first inductee is Sting. https://twitter.com/WWE/status/686608793082265600
  24. Sure, here you go. This list has a ton of duplicates (as did the service, ha), I can't remember where I got it, and I can't confirm the whole thing, but enjoy. http://pastebin.com/aq55iPeq
