Exile on Badstreet #3 = The Rebirth of the Indies
ZThomas replied to KrisZ's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Murcury as the new Pat Patterson of this era is amazing to think about. I remember thinking MLW was going to be the next ECW, reading the first few results in PWI and reading about all the top All japan talent coming in I was hype because i been reading about Puroresu through them and I wasnt exposed to tape trading or even indy wrestling as a whole till I got high speed internet. I got Sunshine network because of MLW, I became a die-hard ROH guy after MLW stopped airing though. I actually thought Teddy harts H2 promotion was going to be the next MLW. Homicide was my favorite indy wrestler, I wish Monsta Mack coulda got more of a shot a singles after Mafia left ROH though even though if Cide and Maff didnt have a falling out Maff woulda been a bigger deal than he became. This show put CZW in a better light for me because I never really followed it I always wondered why Hero worked CZW rather than ROH in the early days, Even to this day I wonder how Hero wouldve done in the very early years of ROH -
Royal Rumble 2015 Reaction Show w/PWO crew
ZThomas replied to Loss's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Cena was in the Match before and he wasnt boo'd nearly as hard as I would think for that crowed. That 3 way was amazing all three were on point its ashame the Rumble finished overshadowed this. Like Keller said on Austins podcast today, Vince needs to stop fronting like he gives the fans what they want then the crowed shits all over the ending of one of your biggest ppvs. -
Hennig vs Flair at WW3 97 was one of the only matches in WCW that I liked. They had a good one the PPV prior to that too.

CM Punk on Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling

Cant get the Rip Rogers episode can someone upload. -
This got me to watch his match vs Orton at summerSlam '07 this was the hieght of my Orton fandom which died down when they had him form legacy. they did a great job building Orton up in '07 that it was such a fresh match to have him and Cena one on one. Orton was the only person maybe besides Bastista that was made to seem as somewhat equal to Cena. HHH ruined Orton for me personally, he even injured him once.

I was thinking last week that if Montreal never happened and he never got hurt. Bret would've been having some of his best matches if he was around the entire attitude era and beyond.

OUCH!! Which moves make you cringe when you see them?

Dean Ambroses reverse DDT finisher seems brutal by WWE standards. -
There's a hip hop producer that got his name from Lex Luger is actually produced Rick Ross's BMF song that Rocky Romero & Davey Richards used in New Japan.

I wonder if he talked to before posting that or will he get shown up by him again If he does get him to show up I'll be a Cena mark fo' life

Yeah, its crazy that they are taking this risk at Mania as if its a throw away PPV. As far as being motivation this face run breathed new life in Del Rio, Booking wise might be debatable but I see Del Rio working hard to make this work. Its obvious that Swaggers push is only to run this political angle and not really about getting him over in the long run, but Its still up to him to get over in spite
-
Henry's push is coming after Mania. He returned as a beast a couple of weeks ago,I believe creative flipped a coin between Swagger and Henry for the earliest push and Swagger won. I want to know who is the next guy Rock is going to give the rub to, They tried with Punk. He didnt come out of it looking any less but he didnt come out of it a bigger star than he was before.
-
I'd much rather have Henry vs Del Rio. Swaggers push is something that shouldve been done after Mania. Punk needs to be in the WWE title match with Cena/Rock if 'taker isnt around

Current WWE is week to week booking, Sure the know what they want for the next PPV booking wise but in there eyes its hard to invest in anybody when you have TV to fill every week. When Wade Barrett returned they built him up good. He established a new finisher, got wins over Orton and Shamus and now he is stuck with a mid-card title and losing to an NXT rookie. 5 months ago i felt like he'd be where Del Rio is now. Not many guys can handle the fly by night booking of today. I dont agree they should plan every step for guys but they just need a general direction of where they want to go with guy and build towards it along the way
-
He works well with Shamus. his Denzel Washington like verbiage makes him so much better than everyone else.

It was a miscarriage of justice that he didn't go on and face Shawn at RR '98 instead of "Taker. When he attacked Shawn at DX IYH and the promos after everyone was ready for him to be the Vengeful babyface taking up for his brother. Owen was one of those guys that didnt have to put much effort into being a good worker, it came natural. I think for him & Bret being the brothers, they where completely different workers.
-
they trusted him enough to train Mayweather but that was before he even got on WWE TV

Can Wrestling Culture Podcast do a show on Curt Hennig?

I dont think Bischoff deserves so much blame for the Russo era of WCW. I think he was kinda in the some situation Gabe was in last year with ROH. He was burned out & the gave Russo more creative control with the shock TV & bad gimmicks an over saturated young talent. too many of those guy went from WCW Saturday night to Nitro overnight & I dont blame that on Bischoff. sure the Laissez faire management WCW gave us alot of good WCW saturday night over the years and great mid card bouts on just about ever televised card but he neglected alot of guys that deserved to be pushed to his top guys spot. I dont think he purposely held back too many guys in WCW, it seems like guys Dusty Rhodes, Sullivan & Terry Taylor played the role of JR the VP of Talent Relations. Just imagine is with Idea of WCW & NWo having there own separate shows, the could have made it so alot of top WCW guys & NWO guy face off on one show & the had more of the workrate, luchadores & ect compete with each other on the other like WCW saturday night

Are you saying that the more realistic-style wrestling of the 50's, for example, comes across to us as fake because they don't follow patterns we are used to from more "skilled" workers like Funk/Baba/Backlund? That may be true from the 1960's stuff I have seen. When I hear topics like this come up I think of what Raven said about how he didnt see the since in Puro with guys stiffing each other, & kicking out of head drops. I remember watching the first Respect is Earned with this 56 year old wrestling fans who has never watched independent wrestling. He grew up on NWA Mid-Atlantic & later watched AWA,WCW & WWF/WWE as cable grew. he saw the briscoes match & he saw the main event with Kenta & Nigel vs Danielson & Morishima, when he saw Danielson kick out of the top ropeFalcon Arrow & he thought ROH was Hollywood because he couldn't believe someone could kickout of a move like that. I love japanese wrestling but sometimes its hard for me to get in to Dragon Gate because I see people kickout of Finisher after finisher way to often. I get that feeling watching both Kentas. alot of times when your watch that styles with a causal fan I think the WWF style becomes more believable. To me there is a difference from working a Terry Funk style like ECW did with stiff punches & strikes & slams ect & The ROH style were it was more about crazier spots & kicking out of finishes like the Briscoes & Steen & Generico were famous for. Other than working with KENTA Danielson was never really guilty of that style. I remember watching two SHIMMER shows for first time vol. 17 & 18 thinking how much better overall wrestling they had on these two shows than what I was watching in ROH at the time.

I've been watching WWF Challenge alot over ther past two weeks & I'm up to the 13th episode, Dino Bravo has had so nice squash matches so far. I read they they wanted to go with him vs Hogan to Main Event a card in Montreal untill they realized Bravo would get more cheers than Hogan. He left the WWF a came back later & I guess this lead to his eventually going to the doghouse a litter later in his WWF run. I'm digging Butch Reed too, with Slick by his side, It seems they fix great together more than another other guy Slick managed. I guess after JYD left, they probably thought by had no more use for Reed. Orndorff was the top heel at this time before Andre turned heel, I dont see why they didnt go with Hogan Orndorff at WMIII. that probably wouldve been Hogan best Mania Match, Match wise because Ornorff was a great wrestler. Jake seemed so fresh for the WWF at that time because he was a heel, by he way so articulate on the mike he had people listen to his every word on the Snake Pit. He hasnt had match yet on Challenge by he has been on every show. At that time the only way for him to stay heel was if he attacked Hogan. He gave vibes like he wanted to face Hogan do the line but I guess you cant blame Hogan for feeling threatend by jake because he had the crowd in his hands. I've also liked Kamala & Sika in singles squashes with King Curtis as there mouth piece, Its too bad that alot of the guys on the rosters only purpose was to job for Hogan eventually & alot of guys that I've seem on the show should've worked at some point on a big House Show or Big Event or angle you can tell Hogan felt threatened by.

Cornettes commentary is deep, I always seem very vocal on his views in wrestling, Its puzzling that he is still in TNA after 2 1/2 year. i remember hearing him being very frustrated with Russo, and the rest of the creative team the first few months. I wish he was around ROH when Gabe left because I know Cary would've gave him the book. He has such a great mind & he isnt tied with WWE or OVW I know he be a great booker for any company
