  1. Where does that say "Will Ospreay asked us to not book you" ? I'm sorry but this is exactly why these matters are complex and why posting stuff on Twitter don't fly in term of being able to judge things. Like I said I'd love to have the supernatural powers people seem to have on social media. They sure know tons of shit I don't. And before anyone says something really stupid, I don't care one way or another about any of those guys. Hopefully all the criminals will have to face their actions in court and all the wrongdoers of many kind will face repercussions, and hopefully if there are few names who have been thrown under the bus for no reasons they'll be cleared.
  2. So basically the guy made a stupid tweet (maybe in good faith) defending the dickhead friend in question. He denies blacklisting the girl. That's exactly why the whole "list" stuff was stupid (and it's really responsible people seriously working on this have distanced themselves from it). All cases are differents and you can't put Ospreay's name even close to, say, David Starr of Matt Riddle if both those cases are confirmed (and really, looking from there, they don't look good).
  3. Totally agree with that. That's the secular equivalent of all those assholes getting "born-again". I've said before the whole "mental health issue" was thrown at any occasion now, and this is another. From all accounts, guys like Jimmy Havoc most likely have some. But there are also people who are just douchebags and assholes period. BTW, Madusa about some "old-school ribs". With Missy chiming in (with that "born-again" stuff rearing up its ugly head again too). And they are totally right. This was part of the culture and for years we've heard these stories in shoot-interviews, back in the days of the good ole days when boys would be boys... The women from back then would have a whole lot to say about "the culture".
  4. About apologies, sorry to have to say that but there's no way to gauge who is sincere and who is not. I always thought public contrition was a completely ridiculous thing anyway. Then again, maybe I'm from a different culture. People who have fucked up and sincerely regret what they have done should apologize to the people whom they have hurt in private, because this is a private matter. I know I may sound like the bad guy here but... first there's the Twitter trials, then we're also gonna judge which apology sounds sincere and which doesn't ? We're gonna judge a whole lot of things we don't know shit about, really. I would love to have the power of reading minds through a post on Twitter too. (not to say I don't find some of those reeking of fake sincerity, but that's not the point I'm making) What is important today is that the victims aren't afraid to speak up, that their stories are heard and taken seriously, that charges are gonna be filed whenever it's possible and that criminals are punished by the justice system, that companies takes their responsibility when evidence of abuse is there (and that dealing with those people for real, not for PR) and most of all that mentalities evolve so that this kind of shit happens less and less.
  5. Yeah, that's what I'd think too. BTW, Lagana was a big name but on the NWA front, Thom Latimer has also been mentioned (for violent behaviour and psychological abuse), with callbacks to the time he was married with Charlotte Flair. FTR He's currently dating Kamille.
  6. Yeah, it's totally ridiculous. Not only that, but at some point, you gotta admit that although things may not be ideal in other pro-wrestling companies, Vince McMahon has been accused of rape before, has most probably covered for the murder of a woman, employed Jerry Lawler for years because "he has great punchlines" despite you know what, and much more. And if we're only gonna talk about current matters at hands and not even mention his ties with sexist, homophobic, racist Trump, he's getting a whole lot of money to promote MBS's Saudi Arabia, which is a criminal regime who had a journalist chopped off in pieces, who's leading a genocidal war in Yemen and legally torture and kills homosexuals. At some point, sorry but a bunch of charity (which is disgusting PR no matter whatever "good" they do) isn't gonna cut it. Hum... In the past no doubt but in today's world, I would be more doubtful. NOAH lost its TV because they were outed has having ties with yakuzas years ago and never recovered from that. Yeah, pro-wrestling is a less than ideal workplace (hell, corporate america is a scummy world.... capitalism makes the world a scummy world everywhere) but at some point, yeah it's ok to have big ideas but really when you make BIG money from such an awful company, you should either shut the fuck up or leave, really.
  7. I totally second the sentiment expressed by @DMJ about the music industry, I had been thinking about the same thing, and coincidentally, also about Led Zeppelin because they are some of the most infamous of that era. Dre is a great exemple also, although I was always bothered by the outright misogyny/homophobia in some hip-hop genres, my own cognitive dissonance being helped somewhat by the fact I'm not an English speaking person and some stuff fly over my head (well, in Dre's albums, not much) but I very often thought about I would never be able to enjoy it the same way if the same lyrics were in French (some stuff on 2001 are just making me ashamed of listening to it just as it is, really, and I love this album). To me the whole thing raises another issue is that, to speak strictly about pro-wrestling, the entire "legacy" we always refer to is built on a whole lot of really scummy people, not to say a majority of them. And that's an issue when you honor the past, really. I'm not saying this because I'm trying to get internet point (not me, come on, you know me around this place), but one reason I basically decided to only watch current stuff (apart from ten years old TNA, which is not a really different era than now) is that at one point, it was getting too uncomfortable for me to watch stuff from the past because of the stuff we know about, and everything we don't know. Yeah, you can always enjoy a good Rockers match, but then I think about those stories of drugging women told by Jannetty while Rob Feinstein is laughing about it (ponder that for a minute) and realize that these are just godawful people and I just don't *need* to watch any of this stuff, ever again. I've watched it before, I loved it *then* but I really don't need and even less want to try and get pleasure out of watching those truly awful people *now*. What does good ol' christian boy Shawn Micheals has to say about all these years of basically sexual harassing girls and drug raping fans ? I'll make an analogy that will seem truly bizarre, but which is not to me. Let's take the Tour de France. Their entire legacy, at the very least from the early/mid-80's, is basically totally fake, because of doping. Yet everyone is forced to refer to its "legend", because they are selling the audience a product of entertainment and the "legend" is a big part of its brand marketing. But it makes no sense whatsoever to pretend things are clean now when you still refer to those doped-as-fuck cyclist of the last 25 years (and I'm being generous) as legends and great sportsmen and the like and when those people are all over the announcing booths. Yeah, it's great if things change in pro-wrestling. But then we still are gonna refer to the Rock'n' Roll Express as the greatest team ever, and they sure were, but as Meltz put it quite bluntly once "If there isn't a 15 years old in the back getting down on the boys, it's not the territories." This was the reality of things and it's impossible to ignore. I'm sure not everyone back then was rotten either, but still. So yeah, let's make pro-wrestling a safer place and shit, but if we're still namedropping Art Barr, Buddy Rose, Jerry Lawler, Dick Murdock and all those guys who were great wrestlers and also pieces of crap in the commentaries because that's what pro-wrestling has been built on, yeah, there is a cognitive dissonance on the broader level. And it's kind of an unsolvable issue as of now. Anyway, I'm ranting, just wanted to throw that out there.
  8. That's actually quite the interesting take !
  9. It sucks that it has to happen, but it's great that it's happening. Also, remember Ashley Massaro. Back then, nothing budged. No one said jackshit. Hopefully this case resurfaces too, because there's something really ugly about it. As far as "losing heroes", no pro-wrestler is a hero to me. I don't care. We all know and for years we all pretended it was allright. How many "Flair showed his dick" stories do we have to listen until we realize that it is actually not *that* funny ? How many "but he throws a great punches" do we have to hear again ? Someone should compile some extracts of those old RF Video shoot interviews about ribbing and ring rats, how awful is this, really ? There's a totally toxic culture that we basically have accepted because hell, everything can't be perfect. But most of all, I hope this doesn't stop in front of the gates of the big dogs. We all know who are we talking about...
  10. Yeah. I did not need to see that either. Spoiler tags damnit.
  11. I was about to say that NWA dodged one hell of a bullet when Corny quit following his "non-racist" joke, but then again, there are allegations against Lagana (which I have not read)....
  12. And this is where it's gonna get tricky, because if some of those guys are falsely accused (even if it's 5% of them), this needs to be addressed too. And those who are lying about it, they are complete dirtbags using other people real suffering for whatever personal goal of vengeance they have.
  13. WWE. Which is why I think the parallel actually works pretty well if you consider WWE as its own franchise (instead of a franchise centered around a character). And really, the franchise inside the self-franchise of WWE in the last decade has been Mania. The stories and characters got rendered irrelevant. The issue is that pro-wrestling always drew because of storyline and characters and the long, drawn out decline of WWE over the last 20 years seems to indicate that the brand marketing, although working as well as anything else in a monopoly context, was damaging in the long term when the writing got totally inept and the star-making machine was deactivated. Seems to work better with movies, although I wonder why really, the complete lack of creativity of Hollywood in the last 20 years has been appalling. Wait a minute...
  14. Yikes, yeah that one is disturbing too. What the fuck. Hey, you thought pro-wrestling was gonna go back to "normal" after COVID ? Guess what...
  15. Probably not in the best mood to enjoy this episode, which had its ups and downs. Strikes me how really, it's so obvious The Elite (Bucks, Omega, Page & Cody) are the best TV workers of them all. Enjoyed all their matches the most + the main event. Ricky Starks is a cool signing. Lots of potential, good promo and charismatic, although nothing special in the ring to me thus far (I got the same impression from his NWA stuff). I gotta, say, I still kinda like how the Dark Order is developping into a band of really good worker, Cabana maybe going with them is a good little angle. Plus why not add a woman. Speaking of which, that "debut" was straight up from LU. Hey, if this ends up with her going Dark Order, I guess it's ok. However, sorry to say but I have no idea why people are so enthousiastic about Abadon. Totally disagree. What level ? She's a girl with 1996 Marilyn Manson-like make-up and emulating Su Yung. Su's presentation is so much more intimidating and Rosemary is such a better character. I honestly don't see what's so special here. Hey, she has the time to grow, but today she's to Su Yung what Abyss was to Mankind. Just like Big Swole doing a WWF Attitude Era-like angle, did not enjoy that part either (I really don't enjoy Big Swole at all anyway, really, don't see shit in her). However, Britt Baker in the dumpster was legit funny. Billy Gunn vs MJF was bad. Sorry, but I don't want a single match with Billy Gunn on my wrestling TV in 2020. Plus the guy looks and works exactly as he did 20 years ago, and yeah that is a backhanded compliment. The fact MJF did not squash him clean really sucked. The Butcher wins the best look of the night contest. They really need a tag-team league at this point, their roster is ridiculous. Nice build toward Fyter Fest, overall. Cody's TNT title really has been a winner thus far and I enjoy the hints of a heel turn. So yeah, pretty contrasted week to me, as for a rare occasions some stuff I really, really disliked.
  16. Not necessarily fiction, but simply stuff that really aren't big deal at all. I mean, I'm sorry but some of the "unsollicited sex proposal" stuff is ridiculous. People being complete douchebag or flirting in the most heavy handed/dumb way ever isn't sexual harrassement and it dilutes the real issues. Some of it reeks of puritanism too, like : Yeah, really now. However : Ok, I haven't seen the details, nor am I interested. And I won't go into much details about what I'm gonna tell now (although probably too much) : for years I've been involved in a long relationship I am now able to call toxic if not straight up abusive at times. Again, not gonna go into details, but : demeaning comments to undermine whatever I was trying to accomplish by myself (unless it was to her benefit), strong alcohol issues including at times violent behavior toward me (including in public), being put regularly in impossible double-bind situations etc... . Which drove me to depression, nervous breakdowns, suicidal thoughts and whatnot. And this pretty much did not help the relationship that came after that one because I was such in a bad place mentally after years and years of eating shit (so this following one ended up quite abruptly and it took me years to get over it, not to mention watching TNA TV, yeah, that's no joke). After I finally broke up that was followed by straight up harrasment with stalking and emotional manipulation (including suicide blackmailing). So you see, lot of charming stuff. And it took a while *after the fact* to not only forgive but also realize that it was not "just" fucked up shit because she had an issue with alcohol, but straight up abusive relationship at times (see how I still use "at times", like I can't quite come to term with the fact it was ABUSIVE). Anyway. Yet, to me those are privates issues. I would have never tried to fuck up with her professional life because of it. It was nobody's business but mine and hers. It could have gotten much worse. It should have ended much much much sooner. And I won't say anything anymore about that, but really to me it kinda blurs the line between what constitute crimes/misdemeanors and private issues that can be quite damaging but have nothing to do with actual justice cases. And then, there's the issue of trying to reach some absolute "moral state" as part of the entertainment industry, which is a big wheel of the absolutely amoral capitalistic world we're leaving in. And so we get into really complex issues, and so we get back also to puritanism and whatever and all of it sounds so hypocritical as it pertains to that aspect of the issue. Because the real issue everywhere is domination, whatever form it takes. But anyway, this is not the place. And of course this is a complex issue, because WHY THE FUCK DO MEN ACT LIKE FUCKING DOUCHEBAGS SO OFTEN ? Really now. After three messages on Whatsapp you gotta ask if the girl want to blow you ? Or send a pic of your lovely genitals ? You really think that's the way you're gonna get pussy ? I don't even comprehend how their brain functions. It probably doesn't. So yeah, a clean up is more than necessary, but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater here. Thus far the cases that really strike me are Starr, Devlin and Cornette. But a lot of others probably are pretty serious too. Waiting on the brave people employed by WWE to say something, as I can't believe nothing ever happened there... (of course not).
  17. This has nothing to do with a kink and everything to do with abusing a position of power to get sexual favors. Which is sexual harrassment/abuse. If that shit is true, Cornette can go fuck himself, and not with a banana.
  18. This. This stuff turned into the DVDVR Sleaze Thread comes alive in Twitter in no time. Sorry, but some of this is ridiculous and may not only damage reputations for nothing but also, like it's been said drawn legit claim of legit abuse in the noise, which would be quite awful. Not good.
  19. Agreed. I've read the Corny stuff... Yikes. And I have no issue believing it either. 2020 sure is the year that keeps on giving...
  20. If it finally happens, it's long overdue, and hopefully it won't be limited to indie/UK scene and hit the major market...
  21. Oh shit. Wow. That will turned out nicely I'm sure... Yeah this too. Although I'm not sure I want all the details of sick shit if there's sick shit involved. Also, if there's a major shitstorm incoming (and it seems like it is), it will be our responsibility as fans (and hopefully, at PWO, intelligent fans and not Twitter dweebs), to address and discuss the situation in the most, well, thoughtful way possible.
  22. I don't know any of these names, so I can't even put faces on them, so to say I'm pretty removed is an understatement. All I've got to say is "the shit just hit the fan". Good on those speaking up.
  23. I know all that, I don't expect it to be much better in the US than it is here (and considering how puritan the american society is, actually I guess it's worse in a way in term of victim-shaming), but still, at some point, it would be nice to have things move forward in the real world as opposed to having a Twitter war with finger-pointing and fake-ass apologies (really, the whole public contrition act is blah...), surrounded with a crowd of idiots taking sides and making definitive comments on a situation they know nothing about like they are a grand jury in a courtroom. When you can file charges, you do it if only because so many don't even have the opportunity to do so. (now, when stuff happened too long ago to be able to file charges, yeah, then there's nothing more to do other than to out the motherfuckers) Totally seconds the comment about those who act woke-as-fuck and houlier than thou often being the worst... Yeah. Bad stuff.
  24. Why is this stuff happening on Twitter, really ? I mean... Filing charges is not a thing anymore ? And the guy can't talk to his former partner or send his "apologies" to her privately ? And the less said about the cohort of virtue signalers, wannabe priests and "good luck man" wishing dorks inhabiting those threads, the better (although the amount of irony packed up at a same spot is quite overwhelming) Dumb fuck social media generation, really. (damn, I said I would not touch that one with a ten foot pole) On the pro-wrestling side of it, where was the guy working ? What would be some implications of him being "cancelled" (while Jerry Lawler is a Hall of Famer on Raw, but that's for another day) ? Someone else would want to carry the flag of "unionization" (please) ?
