WWE TV 03/18 - 03/24: Sal Bellomo ate Bologna in a Balloon
El-P replied to The Thread Killer's topic in WWE
Speaking of which : -
Watched most of the Anniversary show. I really don't know what it is, but the production still strikes me as dull and worse than either iMPACT or MLW. Guys like Kenny King reeks of 00's indie wrestling stereotypes : uncharismatic guy with short tights and kickpads. It seems that mots guy wear some sort of black and white variation, with not much color. Oh anyway, there was quite a bit to enjoy, although I didn't watch Matt Taven vs Jay Lethal go an hour, no time for this. And really, these guys really don't scream Main Event time to me, especially Taven, who's presentation is dull as fuck. I guess ther are going for a three-way with Scurll at MSG, well at least throw in some charisma and star power into the mix. Enjoyed Shane Taylor vs Jeff Cobb a whole lot, probably my favourite match. Taylor's outfit doesn't do him any favor, but as a fat ass worker, he's quite impressive. Cobb is just surreal strong though. He's not the most charismatic (he was at his best doing Matanza thus far), but he's an amazing power worker who can do other shit (but doesn't display it like that wanker Elgin does). Excellent bomb throwing match. Kelly Klein I guess is their version of Shayna/Ronda. Not the worker nor the charisma of either though, but good enough. But again, dull presentation. Iwutani I guess is the joshi worker in vogue. No idea how good she is usually, but that insane head-bump followed almost immediately by standing up and going back on offense (not in a delayed selling way but in a completelt stupid way that made the bump totally meaningless) did not endear her to me although the rest of her work looked good. I guess Kelly's a goner to AEW. Bandido vs Rush was really good mostly, although shaky at points with Bandido doing kinda sloppy stuff, like he was working too fast. It's odd they threw that match without much build-up already. I guess a bit underwhelming to a degree. Rush should just be boosted in the main title scene asap. PCO vs King vs Briscoes was quite the crazy brawl. Not sure how smart this is on PCO's part to take these kind of bump at his age (at any age, really), and I thought the pacing kinda slowed down to much toward the end, which didn't really climaxed, especially with that awfully botched spot outside (which could have been really dangerous). Hey, I'm a garbage match fan, so this was right up my alley, it was dirty and messy with tons of crazy shit. It's fun to think about PCO being off the radar two years ago, making himself a cult figure last year at Spring Break and this year he's gonna go back to MSG 15 years after Mania 10 where he was a tag team champ already. Good for him

Funny for me to say, since it appears Disco is gonna do the job to Scarlett Bordeaux pretty soon. Also, I don't think it was a coincidence that a bunch of male chauvinist pigs got slapped around by women on the March 8 broadcast. The nice thing is that they didn't hammer you over the head with it (like, you know, some would have done), it was just a nice little touch I thought. Ethan Page is a guy I enjoy more and more, his work is really solid and his shape is a nice change from all the super small guys like the Rascals or Ace Austin doing twirls around the ropes and such.

Daniel Bryan as a star post-comeback: Pushes, Feuds, Matches and etc.
El-P replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Joe was always a great talker though. When he wasn't fed awful shit in TNA, he was already excellent on the mic. Yeah, really, the best three promos of the last ten years in WWE probably are Daniels, Joe and Punk, really. -
Nice to see you back gordi ! I'm avoiding spoilers for the Cup and will probably watch a best-of when all is said and done, no time to watch all that stuff now.

TBH, Dave mentioned that jokingly though, like he was when he said he didn't mention winning the IGWP title obviously. Is it me or is Meltz much more relaxed when he's doing shows with this Gonzalez fellow ?

WWE TV 03/11 - 03/17: Exposing civilians by fabricating lies
El-P replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Cena vs Orton is the paragon of black hole late 00's WWE main event style. Most boring big match pairing ever to me. I could never get into that stuff when I kinda looked back at those lost years. Actually, I take back what I said about AJ vs Orton. I mean, Randy Orton… Can't we get AJ vs Braun ? -
Tessa vs Joey is actually an upgrade over Eli Drake to me. It should be all kind of fun bullshit, plus Joey is a better all around worker anyway. Tessa won't be dicking around, pun intended. (and really, did Eli actually refused as a shoot ? Who does he think he is ? Disco Inferno ? It's really odd in 2019)

Two really funny moments on BTE this week. Kaz promo about the Tasmanian Devil ("He speaks nothing like Taz, he didn't call me brotha !") and the entire MJF vs Brandi segment. nWo Flip Gordon is quite the insult. Also, if Micheal Nakazawa isn't already over with the upcoming AEW crowd, I'll be surprised.

The heat match/angle from March 1st with Cage/Impact vs Kross/Moose was really well done. Glad to see some color used right. And damn, that Moose outfit was glorious. No idea what Delilah Doom is supposed to be (I get the vintage synth-wave logo though), but apart from one kinda blown spot at the beginning, I thought her work was quite good. Never hurt to work against Tessa, but still she seems to be quite the good little worker, with a different kinda look. I wouldn't mind seeing more of her. The Rosemary angle is goofy, so I hope the Dark Wars match went into full insanity. Keira Hogan's acting was... not good, but she was still better than Jordynne who looked awkward just standing there. I have no idea how Lucha Underground made everyone look so much better in those vignettes (well, production I guess). Speaking of which, I'm glad Melissa has got the interviewing spot, but I'd like this to be more than the usual "Hot girl stands with a mic and looks excited/intimidated/bewildered" usual deal that has been around for the past 15 years. Lauren Thompson was the best in that role BTW, I hope Melissa is gonna do more stuff. Disco Inferno getting humiliated every time they do a taping in Vegas may get old, but for now it's quite ok. Falah Bahh cuts better promos than most anyone in the WWE by simply putting intent behind only one word. Another guy I wouldn't mind see end up in AEW eventually.

That made me legit laugh.

Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard
El-P replied to Lust Hogan's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Gave up the Austin 97 edition after 20 minutes. Total rehash. I hope the podcast won't turn into the Network version... The Jerry Lawler episode was excellent though, especially the entire quitting over Stacy fiasco and the many times Lawler implemented little details to his angles that made it even better. -

Well, yeah. He owes his entire whatever overness he ever had to stealing DDP's finisher gimmick. AJ vs Orton at Mania ? AJ is so good, this could be the best Orton match ever if he shows up. (and I am the one calling Orton the Black Hole) -
The Heat are close friends with Bruce, it's no wonder Stevie Ray had to mention Meltz to try and get himself over. Funny how the other day, Jerry Jarrett, whoever he is, was like "It's an honor to be in the WO HOF because it's the only legit one." Yeah. Induct the entire nWo B-team. Why isn't Virgil in the HOF already ? And Brian Adams ? And really, Ahmed Johnson was more fun to watch in his short WWF stint than the entire Harlem Heat career. Considering both Booker and Stevie are responsible for ending his career, I'm glad he isn't inducted the same year.

It's during the course of a 35-40 minutes workout, so you go through 20-15-25 at a time depending on the moment. Of course you do other stuff in between, which is not exactly resting either. It's actually not the worse though. There's this 40mn work out where DDP blows the fuck out of you with 50 straight after the warm-up, then you go back doing five 10sc push-ups later then 35 more simple ones at the end. It took me forever before I was able to do this one. All of this is advanced/extreme stuff though. Two years ago I was doing 20 minutes beginners stuff and having difficulties doing the simple poses. (so yeah, to reiterate, it works, and of course the push-ups are only one little fun part of the deal, but it's one where you can easily quantify your progress, I'm also crazy more flexible which isn't hard considering where I started)

Yeah do it. Russo would make it a Karen on a Pole match. -
They should just show that stuff on TV and she would be the biggest star in the company :

Make an angle out of it with "The Shield is the true Elite, wink wink" promos. Honestly, he can stay in WWE for all I care, it's not that him showing up in AEW would send a great signal. Not straight away at the launch anyway. -
Ok. And Asuka sucks and is not over too I guess. (yeah, I'm being snarky) Blue Bloods, washed up Nasties, washed up Steiners, Bagwell & Scorpio, Bagwell & Riggs, Bagwell & Norton, Orndorff & Roma, Faces of Fear... the only team that sucked even more than Harlem Heat to me was Buck & Slater. And more than sucking, what's more offensive is that The Heat was fucking boring. People just forget. They were boring as fuck in competitive matches. At least the old Steiners were throwing people around and the Nasties had that car-crash appeal to them.

And people are gonna like him by association now too ? -
Seriously now. People have shit on Harlem Heat for 25 years now. The fact WCW's tag team title scene in the mid 90's sucked is because Harlem Heat was champions all the time, not because they weren't any good teams.
-
They had some decent matches against guys who could go as well as the Nasties when they were destroying shit backstage, but really, Stevie Ray is easily one of the worst worker I've ever seen and Booker T is ridiculously overrated and probably only peaked in the WWE as King Booker. They pretty much also are responsible for ending Rick Martel's career, as they injured him twice in a row in 1998. Conspiracy theory : Bruce has managed to get his friend Booker another HOF check.
-
Spot of the night. (well, no, that Bryan finisher...)
-
Wow, so they found someone actually worse as a worker than both Beefcake and Wilson to induct the same year. Nice job.
